Referring remote machines exe file path in exec method
Can i refer remote server machine's exe file path in RunTime class's exec method?
It's not so easy to cause a program to run on another machine. In fact virus writers consider that a challenge.
If you want to run a program on another machine, you need that machine's permission, in the form of a server that accepts requests to run programs. An FTP server can be configured to do that, and there are other servers that can do it too. Ask the administrator of the other machine about setting one up.

How to use Client_Host without the exe file path
Hi,
i'm using oracle forms 10g,
in my application the users can upload any type of files (doc,xls,pdf,avi ,.. etc) and any user can download and open any of these files.
i implement this using client_host and including the path of winword.exe or AcroRd32.exe ,...
in many cases i don't know where these exe files are installed in the client side or whether it is installed or not.
i tried this command : client_host('calc.exe') it works and show me the calc without including the path of this exe file.
what i want to do is to just call the target file(doc,pdf,avi,..) in the client_host without having to precede this with the exe and path like the calc.exe example.
if you go to start->run and write for example c:\ahmed.mpeg , windows automatically call the real player or any other video software installed and open the movie.
can we implement this in oracle forms? and how?Hi, you attach a procedure to download a file in the local runs from Windows and to close it updates in the database and then delete the local directory

Getting absolute path of a file running in remote machine
Hi,
I want to get the absolute path of a file that will be created in the remote server. Inside a directory XYZ in remote machine, the file will be created and the remote machine's address is xxx.xx.x.x. I have used the following snippet
File f=new File(Filename);
f.getAbsolutePath();
Now, in the output am getting the absolute path of the file as d:/XYZ/Filename. Is there any way to get the output as xxx.xx.x.x/XYZ/FileName ? Can someone please suggest why the server details are not fetched and instead the directory name is fetched.
I am running the program to get absolute path of a file in my remote machine. and for accessing that remote file from my machine, I use xxx.xx.x.x/XYZ/FileName.
Thanks in advance.I'm going to take it a step further and guess at what the OP is going to say next.
On host w.x.y.z there's a file /a/b/share/some_dir/file.txt.
Host w.x.y.z is sharing the /a/b/share/ directory as SHARE.
Client mounts \\w.x.y.z\SHARE as D:, so that he sees D:/some_dir/file.txt.
OP now wants to know not just that D:/some_dir/file.txt is \\w.x.y.z\SHARE/some_dir/file.txt, but also wants to know that on w.x.y.z, SHARE corresponds to /a/b/share.
@OP: If that's what you want, forget it. Part of the premise of file common drive/directory sharing protocols is that the client does not know or care and does not need to know or care what the absolute path is on the serving host. It's none of his business. -
Remotely editing text files in Windows WinRM/PSExec/Powershell/cmd
Hi!
How can I remotely edit a text file in Windows?
I am running and administering a number of Windows 7 workstations and Windows Server 2012 machines. I would like to be able to remotely edit text files on any of these machines. I can connect to any of these machines via psexec or powershell remoting. I
can also connect via rdp, but for the workstations I would rather not kick the user off unless I absolutely have to.
For example, we manage state configuration using
Salt. Local configuration files are stored in C:/salt/conf. I would like to be able to edit these config files on the fly.
This question on Stack Overflow covers the same topic, but none of the answers are particularly satisfying. Some of the possible solutions
are:
Remote Desktop: as I say, I would rather not have to kick a user off their workstation
Edit a file over a UNC path: this only works for files on a share, and setting up arbitrary shares for quick edits seems like a bad idea.
Install some manner of ftp or ssh server on all the target computers. This would certainly work, but it is it necessary with WinRM already active? I feel like installing and configuring extra software across all the machines in my organisation would be
a last resort.
Edit with a command line editor (e.g. vim, emacs) over a remote powershell session. This doesn't work. I don't understand the technical details, but a powershell remote session isn't interactive in the same way that ssh connections are.
Edit using powershell's -replace operator, out-file and add-content cmdlets. This works, but is hardly the same as a fully featured text editor.
Retrieve content from the remote, edit locally, and post back to the remote. This works, and is arguably the best solution I've found. Code sample from SO:
PS C:\Users\Meredith> Invoke-Command -Session $ps -ScriptBlock {get-content c:/inetpub/myapp/web.config} > web.config
edit web config
PS C:\Users\Meredith> get-content web.config | Invoke-Command -Session $ps -ScriptBlock {set-content c:/inetpub/myapp/web.config}
The last two options are the workflow that I've been using for now. Regex replacement for very simple changes, and copying to local and editing there for more complicated ones. Neither is ideal, but they work. It just feels incredibly old fashioned.
I'm considering writing a plugin to my editor of choice (vim) to perform the remote fetch and save, to make my workflow a little bit smoother. Before I try that, I just want to know if there's anything that I've missed, or misunderstood.
CheersWhat is the "redirector"?
I posted the same question to Stack Overflow, and was told about administrative shares. I wasn't aware of this, and it's exactly what I wanted. I can open the filetree of a remote machine with the path \\machinename\c$\. Perfectly simple, now that I know
the answer. -
Regarding opening the remote folder and files
hello,
I am developing a struts web application through which a user would be able to see the remote files and folders and view it upon selecting the particular file into the JSP.
I have created a onclick event in javascript which will present a user a pop up with the browse option using the <input type="file" name="myfile"> html tag. but when I click on the browse button it is showing me the local folders on my machine. Is there any way where I can pass the remote machine name and path of the folders in this tag so that when I click on the browse button it will show me remote machine folders and hence I can select the remote files. I am setting the remote machine name in property file.
ThanksYou can't. You need to present the folders and files and download links yourself with help of java.io.File in servlet and JSTL c:forEach in JSP and of course a bunch of HTML/CSS to present it nicely in sort of tree.

Psexec shows Access denied when i execute a .exe file on a remote machine
Hi All,
I am using Psexec application to run exe on multiple remote machines in the domain. When i run the the .EXE i get the error message saying access is denied.
I am running this script against agents in a list.
Below is the script i am running in the batch:
"C:\Windows\system32\PsExec.exe" @C:\Test.txt cmd
1. I am first connecting to the cmd of the remote computer and it connects successfully.
2. When i enter the .exe file location on the command prompt (which is also in a shared drive but in the same domain).
3. I ran the batch file as Run as administrator
4. I am itself a member of the Domain admins and Administrators group of the domain.
5. Turned off firewall on both sides.
6. Turned off UAC fully as per the below MS article - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc709691(v=ws.10).aspx
7. Pressed shift and right click so i will get the Run as option and mentioned different domain admins user account and password.
Below is the screenshot for your reference:
Restated both the machines after doing these changes. But still the same issue.
But still i get access is denied. Can anyone please help.

Open Calculator.vi 8 KBHi,
One option, if you have LabVIEW on the remote machine, is to place your Open Calculator.VI on that computer. You would then use a second VI on your server to make the Open Calculator.VI run on your remote machine. I've attached an example, Call Open Calculator.VI You will have to change the IP address and file path in the block diagram to correspond to your remote machine. You will also have to make sure that TCP/IP is enabled on your remote machine, that your server's IP is added to the Machine Access list, and "Open Calculator.VI" is added to the Exported VIs list.
The following help document should help guide you through the settings I mentioned above.

Any suggestions?
However, I can use scp to copy files out from my iMac (10.6.8) .
I can ssh into the iMac OK.
I created a .profile in my iMac home directory with the single line "export TERM=xterm-color".
This makes a difference to how scp behaves when attempting to copy into the iMac, but it still fails.
Thanks in advance for any help. Peter R

Program to open file in remote machine
Hi,
i want to write a program in which i can access a file in another system.
But the catch here is that the other system is using password to login to the system.
How i can provide password through my Java Program to access to other machine
~AmanCan you just send me the code how to read file from Shared folder/drive through java program?
e.g ="\\mcno-pc180\shared\HelloWorld.txt". I am able to access file HelloWorld.txt from my machine which is placed in shared folder path "\\mcno-pc180\shared\".
Regards
SPulluri
Share the folder/drive which you want to access on the remote machine then your application can access it.
Try to use the user which has already rights of reading/writing to that machine then the security dialog will not appear. -
I have written a program that executes an .exe file using the
Runtime.exec() command and all works fine standalone with the .exe
file located in the root of my classpath.
My problem comes when I want to deploy it using WebStart, I dont know where to place the .exe where it can be found.
Ideally I dont want to install it on the client and was wondering
if it is possible to find its location programatically say in the
cache.
TIAThis is quite simple actually once you know the trick. Should probably be put into a faq....
Create a native method e.g. getNativePath and implement it to return the path of where it is located on disk. Bundle your executable and the native dll into a jar that is added in the nativelib section of the jnlp file
On windows the code may look something like the following.
* Class: Native
* Method: getNativePath
* Signature: ()Ljava/lang/String;
JNIEXPORT jstring JNICALL Java_Native_getNativePath(JNIEnv* env, jobject obj)
char buf[_MAX_PATH];
#ifdef _DEBUG
HMODULE hmodule=GetModuleHandle("theNameOfTheDebugDll");
#else
HMODULE hmodule=GetModuleHandle("theNameOfTheReleaseDll");
#endif
GetModuleFileName(hmodule, buf, _MAX_PATH);
return (*env)->NewStringUTF(env, buf);
}Now call the executable with Runtime.exec() by prepending the path returned by the native call to getNativePath.

How to create a file on a remote machine using PrintStream
I want to create an HTML file on a remote machine connect via LAN the path is "\\vineet\akh\" akh is folder where I want to save the HTML file. Now in PrintStream i can give only a local file. Please help how to do it
.. You can do this in two ways!!
1) easy way
2) hard way
1) EASY WAY
.. as you know for write to a remote dir you must
a) have shared remote dir
b) have write permit on remote dir
if you have point a) and b) the way to follow it's simple as the other user explained to you!!
2) HARD WAY
the hard way is to use RMI (Remote Method Invokation)
i mean to create a service on a remote machine that give to you a remote method that make you write without share anything..!!!
check it out

Transfer of file to a shared folder on remote machine
Hi,
I want to transfer a file present on windows machine A to a shared folder (\\16.192.54.56\Test) on machine B having ip as 16.192.54.56, using java.
I tried using the renameTo api of File class but its not helping. It gives permission denied exception. I am able to open the shared folder from machine A using the shared folder path (\\16.192.54.56\Test) through the run command. So, that means there is no permission issue on the shared folder.
Could anybody please guide me as to how can i resolve this issue.
~BrijHi,
Please pardon me for not providing the complete information.
I have kind of root caused the issue. Let me explain the issue in detail.
I have a logic to move a file to a shared folder on remote machine, inside my application running on a different machine. Now when i run my application using
command prompt, the logic of moving the file to the shared folder works fine.
try
File fDest = new File(""\\\\15.154.52.100\\TestDir\\test");
File fSrc = File.createTempFile("testExport", "txt");
final int BUFFER = 2048;
InputStream in = new FileInputStream(fSrc);
OutputStream out = new FileOutputStream(fDest);
// Transfer bytes from in to out
byte[] buf = new byte[BUFFER];
int len;
while ( (len = in.read(buf)) > 0)
out.write(buf, 0, len);
in.close();
out.close();
fSrc.delete())
catch (Exception ex)
ex.printStackTrace();
{code}
But when i run my application as a windows service, the logic does not work.
I noticed that when we run our application as windows service, the owner of JVM is System and it looks like it will not have Network access permission.
But, when we run our application through command prompt or as a standalone application, then the owner will be the user who started the application. This user will have the Network access permission.
Please correct me if the above assumption is correct. If this is the case then how can i make my application (running as windows service), to have network access permission.

Thanks,Hi sayedfarhan,
Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
>>I am creating a form application where I want to install vstf_testagent.exe and vstf_testcontroller.exe on remote machine and configure it.
According to your issue, as you said that you want to install vstf_testagent.exe and vstf_testcontroller.exe on remote machine and configure it.
So please you refer the following MSDN document to install and configure the test agent and test controller on this remote machine.
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd648127.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
Generally, I know that we used this test controller and test agent to run automated tests on remote machine. Note:I know that if you want to install and configure test agent and test controller for automated test, it will not need to any code for
it.
So whether your issue is related to run your automated tests remotely with the test agent and test controller.
In addition, as you said that:
>>I am creating a form application where I want to install vstf_testagent.exe and vstf_testcontroller.exe on remote machine and configure it.
Could you please tell me whether you want to install and configure the test controller and test agent for your form app?
If I misunderstanding your issue, please tell me more detailed message about your issue.
