Refresh af:selectOneChoice in backed bean (JDev 10.1.3.5)

I have jspx with af:selectOneChoice named Status. When user changes value of selectOneChoice from IN_WORK to COMPLETED, I check business rules.
If some rules are violated, I show error messages and I want to set value of af:selectOneChoice back to IN_WORK.
But with my code this doesn't occur - value of selectOneChoice stay with value COMPLETED :
Here is definition of selectOneChoice. I set id="Status" and partialTriggers="Status" for PPR to work:
<af:selectOneChoice value="#{bindings.HgpPorocilaView1Status.inputValue}"
label="Status"
valueChangeListener="#{UrejanjePorocilaBacked.onValueChangeStatus}"
autoSubmit="true" id="Status"
partialTriggers="Status" immediate="true"
valuePassThru="false">
<f:selectItems value="#{bindings.HgpPorocilaView1Status.items}"/>
Here is UrejanjePorocilaBacked.onValueChangeStatus:
public void onValueChangeStatus(ValueChangeEvent valueChangeEvent) {
// Add event code here...
DCBindingContainer dcBindings = (DCBindingContainer)getBindings();
DCIteratorBinding iter = dcBindings.findIteratorBinding("HgpPorocilaView1Iterator");
Row row = iter.getCurrentRow();
//If new value of Status is COMPLETED
if (row.getAttribute("Status") == "COMPLETED" {
//Check rules
if (row.getAttribute("OneField").toString() == "WRONGVALUE")
//If rules are violated, display error message
FacesMessage message = new FacesMessage(FacesMessage.SEVERITY_ERROR, "Business rules violation!", "Rule1 message, Rule2 message, ... ");
FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addMessage(null, message); // Null for global message
//Set Status af:selectOneChoice back to IN_WORK
row.setAttribute("Status","IN_WORK");
So - the problem is that Status doesn't change back to IN_WORK. I have similar principle for af:inputText in same backed bean and it works OK.
I have Jdev 10.1.3.5
Please some suggestions, what is wrong.
Regards,
Sašo

Hi,
The ValueChange Listener will not stop it from setting the submited value in the viewRow.
You should try a different approach of the matter.
You should use a validation method in you entity. Or perhaps place custom code in the setter of the attribute in you ViewRowImpl.

Dimitris.

  • Refresh iterator after invoking backing bean method

    Hi guys,
    I 'm using jdev 11.1.1.1.0.
    I have a jspx page which displays a table with data. I've succeedeed on not displaying data of the table on initial rendering with this code (it's my will) :
    <iterator Binds="ProjetsActifsLectureSeule_extend1" RangeSize="25"
    DataControl="AppModuleCodesProjetsDataControl"
    id="ProjetsLectureSeule1Iterator" RefreshCondition="#{!adfFacesContext.postback}"/>
    When i click a button on the page i want the table to display all datas. I've coded a backingbean method for that (named displayall) :
    public void displayAll(ActionEvent actionEvent) {
    ((DCIteratorBinding)getBindings().get("ProjetsLectureSeule1Iterator")).executeQuery();
    AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(table3); // table3 contains the datas i want to be refreshed
    The method is executed but no datas are displayed like in the initial rendering of the page.
    What is wrong with my code?
    Thanks

    Yes Amseth,
    i want that datas of a query aren't displayed (it's a table component) on the initial rendering of the page.
    But i want there are displayed when i reexecute the query from a backing bean method.

    Why don't you use a model driven list in the first place? Your list gets it's data from a vo do this would be the preferred solution.

    Remove Automatic Backing Bean Updates
    1. Click page.jspx file tab. Click the Design tab
    2. Select Design | Page Properties and click the Component Binding tab. Unselect Auto Bind.
    Why I cannot locate Page Properties and the Component Bind tab?
    Where is? Can help me with some print screen?
    Thansk in advice

    Hi,
    Actually first chance to switch it off is when you create a new page: There is a managed bean tab in which you can do this. For existing pages, open the page in the visual editor and choose Design --> Page Properties from teh JDeveloper menu. In the opened dialog there is a "Component Binding" tab you press

  • Using a backing bean in JDeveloper to assign bean class variables

    I am using JDeveloper 10 to make a jsp page that is a form full of inputs and buttons. JDeveloper then creates the setters and getters for you for the ids of the various inputs and buttons. I also have used JDeveloper to create a backing bean.
    The idea of this is to have the backing bean read in parameter(s) from an http source/link(when the form is loaded or instantiated) and assign those parameter(s) to one of the bean class local variables.
    The reason i want to do this is, is that when the form is loaded the first thing it will do is open up an available database(in the bean class constructor), then in the constructor call a function to do a database query that will return a result set that will then be used to fill up the form.
    That variable that is assigned by the backing bean will be the value of a unique database identifier for doing the sql query so that is why it is important that i get this value as the form loads.
    So simply i need to find out from someone how to do this. i am totally new to doing any jsp development or using managed beans and i have gotten far enough to launch the form, retrieve and write to the database using sql queries and all the rest.
    I just dont know enough about managed beans to make a decision on things like making the bean have a session scope. do i need request scope? if i change to request scope how do i make sure the database isn't being called every time the page changes or is refreshed?(when i had it as request scope the constructor was being called every time the page was reloaded and that isnt effecient at all, especially with multiple users). can you define more than one managed bean in one faces config file? do i have to manually change something in the jsp file to make sure things run smoothly?
    Just maybe things are easier than i see them to be and my only problem is that i just dont understand what i am doing. here is what my backing bean looks like now with just basic session scope.
    An example of course would be something like: http://host:port/context-root/faces/register.jsp?12345 - where 12345 would be the value that i would like to assign to a local variable in my bean class that can then be used for filtering out information via a query then filling up the form, all this happening at instantiation.

    Hi,
    don't think you will get a readily programmed solution to this (though I wish you luck). Here's how I would approach the managed bean issue
    - One managed bean that you configure from a java.util.HashMap. This bean should be in requestScope (should be okay here). Say the bean is called "formFields", then adding data to it can be done with the following EL #{formBean['attribute_name']}. You need to add this as the value Expression of the inputText field you create dynamically. The filed will then read and write to the HashMap
    - Create a managed bean in session scope to handle the database interaction. Put this into session scope (e.g. "database")
    - Create a managed bean that holds the action listener that handles the update, insert and delete actions (e.g. logic handler). This bean has a JSF reference to the root component in the page (or the form layout component to add the fields to)
    The "database" bean is referenced from the logic handler managed bean using the #{database} expression, which you resolve using a ValueBinding (ExpressionBinding in JSF 1.2). Or, you configure the bean as a managed property.
    The logic managed bean also needs to reference the formFields bean (similar to above) to access the contained filed names and attributes. If the filed attributes match column names in the database then you should be all set

  • Data initialization in backing bean

    Hi,
    JDev Version: 11.1.2.1.0
    I have set of jsff pages in backingBeanScope, which are embedded in a bounded taskflow and the taskflow is used in a jspx page as a region.
    A table in jsff page displays the data on executing a DB query:
    <af:table var="row" id="t2" value="#{requestScope.backing_main.lstReleases}" partialTriggers="...">
    </af:table>
    Backing bean has the following:
    public List<MyObject> getLstReleases(){
    // populate MyObject list based one a DB query
    return myObjects;
    This table gets refreshed based on user's selection on the page.
    Issue:
    Since the fragment is in backing bean scope, this query gets fired multiple times and hits the performance issue.
    Executing DB query in the constructor fires the query atleast twice.
    I need to display the default view each time user requests the page, i.e. clear the previously user selected values on the page, say drop-down list, check box, etc(view state management).
    Can you please suggest a way to initialize the data when using backingBeanScope and avoid executing same DB query multiple times?
    Your help is much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Shrinath

    I am trying a better place to initial the data model, i.e. List<MyObject>, by executing a DB query.
    Executing this query inside the constructor was just an effort.
    Here is my usecase:
    1. I have a dropdown list with 2 static values, 1. user view1 (default) 2. user view2.
    2. On choosing any value, the table data should get refreshed.
    3. On page load, the table should display the data with default user view(user view1).
    To achieve this, currently, the DB query is placed in the getter method and hence the 'value' attribute of the table is set to #{backingBeanScope.backing_main.lstReleases}.
    As managed bean for the jsff page is in backingBeanScope, this getter method gets executed multiple times, resulting in multiple DB query execution. Hence performance issue.
    Can you please suggest a way to avoid executing same query multiple times, still refresh the table on choosing different user view?

  • About backing bean method's invokation

    Hi,
    I have a backing bean method binded to a component:
    <af:selectOneChoice value="#{bindings.managerId.inputValue}"
    label="Manager" valign="middle"
    binding="#{backing_searchDocuments.managersList}"
    valuePassThru="true" immediate="false"
    rendered="#{bindings.ListManagersIterator.estimatedRowCount > 1}">
    <f:selectItems value="#{bindings.managerId.items}"/>
    When page refreshes component executes his binding method. But in some cases, actually when I press the commandMenuItem leading to the same page where I am it seems that it doesn't get invoked.. how can I manage the invocation of backing bean's methods? I need it invoked every time any request is made.. How to do that?

    Mario,
    this method is executed when the component re-draws. So anything other than a PPR request makes this binding method being called.
    If PPR is used with your commandMenuItem, them make sure the PPR trigger is set to refresh the component.
    I don't know what code it is that you need to execute each time, but maybe putting this on a action listener is a better idea

  • Create backing bean after page created - 11g

    Is there a way in JDev 11g to create a backing bean (bb) for a page fragment after the page fragment is created?
    I know you can create the bb a time of page creation, but how about after then?

    I have an editable form that is showing values for the current row.
    When I click 'CreateInsert' with immediate="true" (to avoid validation) the old values stay populated in the form. I want to clear the values so the form comes back empty on refresh.
    I figured that I would add an actionListener method on the backing bean in which I programmatically set the submitted values to null (those values coming in on the request from the current row).
    I started the following thread to solve a problem, which lead to this thread:
    stop client validation (11g)

  • How to assign and display an attribute value from backing bean?

    Hello all,
    I am using Jdev 11g. I have a form page which has two inputText attributes The first one implements a valueChangeListener feature. When the user enters a value in the first field, a backing bean function will be invoked through the valueChangeListener . In this backing bean function, based on the value in the first field, I want to assign the value to the second field and display it on the page. Can somebody help me how to achieve this?
    Thanks,
    John

    Hi John,
    Here is small example.
    Create two string variables in your backing bean and generate accessors for them.
        private String text;
        private String text1;
        public void setText(String text) {
            this.text = text;
        public String getText() {
            return text;
        public void setText1(String text1) {
            this.text1 = text1;
        public String getText1() {
            return text1;
        }Bind this variables to the value property of the input texts you have. Add the valuechangedlistener for the first input text (and also set autosubmit to true for that item). Also, add the id of the first input text as partial triggers for the second input text. Like,
            <af:inputText label="Label 1"
                          binding="#{backingBeanScope.backing_untitled1.it1}"
                          id="it1"
                          valueChangeListener="#{backingBeanScope.backing_untitled1.textValueChanged}" autoSubmit="true"
                          value="#{backingBeanScope.backing_untitled1.text}"/>
            <af:inputText label="Label 2"
                          binding="#{backingBeanScope.backing_untitled1.it2}"
                          id="it2"
                          value="#{backingBeanScope.backing_untitled1.text1}"
                          partialTriggers="it1"/>Finally, put the logic on your value changed listener. Like,
        public void textValueChanged(ValueChangeEvent vce){
            this.setText1("Hi " + vce.getNewValue());
        }Now, when you run the page and enter your name in the first input text, the second input text will display Hi <your_name>
    HTH.

  • How to get selected items from a tree in backing bean without adfbc

    Hi ADF Experts,
    Below is my code for af:tree. My question is how can I get selected Items from the selectionListener (without adf bc) this uses formation of tree from backing bean.
    Using Jdev 11.1.1.7.0
    <af:tree var="node" value="#{pageFlowScope.MerchandizeBean.model}"
                      binding="#{pageFlowScope.MerchandizeBean.treeModel}"     id="tree" immediate="true" autoHeightRows="0"
                           styleClass="AFStretchWidth" rowSelection="multiple"
                           selectionListener="#{pageFlowScope.MerchandizeBean.treeNodeSelection}">
                    <f:facet name="nodeStamp">
                      <af:commandLink text="#{node.classDescription}"
                           actionListener="#{pageFlowScope.MerchandizeBean.createListManyItemForMerchandise}"           id="displayTable" partialSubmit="true">
                      </af:commandLink>
                    </f:facet>
                  </af:tree>
        public void treeNodeSelection(SelectionEvent selectionEvent) {
            // Add event code here...
            RichTree tree = (RichTree)selectionEvent.getSource();
                    TreeModel model = (TreeModel)tree.getValue();
                    //get selected value
    Thanks
    Roy

    Hi,
    in a multi select case, try
    RowKeySet rks = tree.getSelectedRowKeys();
    Iterator iter = rks.iterator();
    while(iterator.hasNext()){
    Object aKey = iterator.next();
    tree. setRowKey(aKey);
    Object rowData ? tree.getRowData();
      .... do something with the data here ...

  • Is it possible to call a custom method in App Module from a backing bean?

    I would like to know if a custom method in App Module can be called from inside a backing bean.
    I am not sure if it is logically right to call, from a backing bean, a custom method in App Module. But would like to know if that makes sense or if it is possible.

    Hi..
    Yes it is possible.You have to add that method for client interface of AppModule.Now you can see that method in Data Controls(Refresh the data control). To call this method using bean it should add as method action to bindings(Click Bindings>+>methodAction>and Create action binding).
    Now you can call this method in bean class.
    Check following example use this concept to execute view criteria
    http://adf-lk.blogspot.com/2011/05/oracle-adf-create-view-criteria-and_4727.html

  • Action method of backing bean called multiple times instead of once.

    Hi,
    My backing bean has an action method called "saveEquipmentList" that's called when a "Save" button is clicked. The problem is, this method gets executed twice every time the button is clicked so data gets peristed twice, db triggers get executed twice, etc., it's really pretty annoying. I've put the bean method's code and the JSF command button below, notice that there's a check for FacesContext.getRenderResponse() that I put in for debugging, the code doesn't get executed at all if I leave the FacesContext.getRenderResponse() in, sure, you're saying "So what's you point", no point, just thought I'd explain why the check is in there.
    Thanks,
    Alex
    public synchronized String saveEquipmentList() throws Exception {
    // Order is very important.
    if (FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getRenderResponse()) {
    System.out.println("GOT RENDER RESPONSE... XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX");
    try {
    loadEquipmentCodesMap(); // Loads map from equip_code_ids in the DB.
    updateEquipCodesMap(); // Updates total for objcode/type to sum of equipment items for that objcode/type.
    saveEquipmentCodes(); // Saves to equipment_codes table.
    loadEquipmentCodesMap();
    updateDataList();
    savedataList();
    updateTotals();
    loadEquipmentList();
    catch (Exception e) {
    setErrMessage("Error saving equipment: " + e.getMessage());
    return "success";
    }else{
    //facesContext.getCurrentInstance().renderResponse();
    return "success";
                                <h:panelGroup id="pg54">
                                  <h:commandButton id="save" disabled="#{(user.role == '2' and backing_equipmentScreen.viewOnly) or
                                                                                          (user.role == '1' and !backing_equipmentScreen.viewOnly)}"
                                                   value="Save"
                                                   action="#{backing_equipmentScreen.saveEquipmentList}"
                                                   styleClass="input"/>
                                </h:panelGroup>

    Here's the phase listener output before clicking the "Save" button (which calls the saveEquipmentList() action method), I pasted it all, from app started to breakpoint, couldn't get it all in due to the 30K char constraint:

  • Class not Found when accessing Proxy class from backing bean in VC.

    Hi All,
    I'm attempting to access a class of a webservice(generated as a proxy) within my ADF application and invoke the method within a backing bean of the View Controller(bean scope : backing bean). The proxy has generated an ObjectFactory class among other classes. When I access this Object factory class from within the backing bean, the application throws a Class not found error.
    I don't know where the error lies since I've declared the View Controller of the ADF application dependent on the Proxy and I've imported the class and accessing it within a backing bean. How would you suggest I approach resolveing this.
    JDev : 1.1.1.4
    Thank you.
    Regards
    PP.

    Hello Arun,
    Thank you for suggesting a Data control, but my requirement isn't to drag and drop the method as a button. It's more of a behind the scnes updating data via a database adapter requirement.
    I've resolved the issue. turns out, my deployment archive didn't include the proxy.jpr. Once included it works likea charm.
    Thanks
    PP.
