Refreshing a JSP that lives on a network drive

          We're running WLS 6.0sp2 as a service, and have an exploded web application residing
          on a mapped drive. We use AutoExNt to set up the mapped drive before starting
          WLS.
          When the JSP is updated by a content management system that is responsible for
          keeping track of the file, WLS doesn't notice that the filedate has changed, and
          does not recompile the JSP.
          We have verified that the datestamp on the file changes. Our refresh time is
          set to 1 (second). Does anyone have an idea as to what's happening?

Great thanks. It is actually the drive that holds my music. I don't need the songs backed up through time machine - far too much time and footprint, but I do want the library files backed up to maintain playloists, ratings, etc... I separated the music files from the library files and then selected the music files for exclusion. iTunes still sees the music files (I manage them vice letting iTunes do it. It has a nasty habit of splitting up multiple albums and placing non-compilations into the Compilations folder, etc...) I haven't run TM yet, but this gives all the appearance of working at this point. I will update and mark the question answered once I confirm.

  • Requirement is to run CMD.EXE under the Local System Account. So that we can map a network drive to be used by a windows service, which will be created by command: - net use z: \\servername\sharedfolder /persistent:yes

    Environment:
    OS:  Windows 7 32/64 bit, Windows 2008 Server 64
    bit/ Windows 2012 Server 64 bit
    Priority:
    - Critical
    Requirement: - Since
    the Windows Service is running under the Local System Account, we would like to emulate this same behaviour.
    Basically, we would like to run CMD.EXE under the Local System Account. So that we can map a network drive to be used by a service using following
    command
    net use z: \\servername\sharedfolder /persistent:yes.
    Already Attempt:
    We tried to launch the CMD.exe using the DOS Task Scheduler AT command.  Here’s a sample command:
    AT 10:36 /interactive cmd.exe
    But I received a warning that “due
    to security enhancements, this task will run at the time excepted but not interactively.”
    It turns out that this approach will work for XP, 2000 and Server 2003 but due to session isolation
    Interactive services no longer work on Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and above.
      2.  We
    tried to create a secondary Windows Service via the Service Control (sc.exe) which merely launches CMD.exe.
    <Drive>:\sc create RunCMDAsLSA binpath= "cmd" type=own type=interact <Drive>:\sc
    start RunCMDAsLSA
    In this case the service fails to start and results it the following error message:
    FAILED 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
      3. One
    suggestion, we found to launch CMD.exe via a Scheduled Task, but
    it is not giving any option to launch CMD.exe in interactive mode; so that I can map network drive using net command.
      4. I read an article, which
    demonstrates the use of PSTools from SysInternals. I launched the command line and executed following command
    psexec -i -s cmd.exe
    PSTools worked fine, but It seems that in scope of Sysinternals Software License
    Terms. You may not "use the software for commercial software hosting services."
    Application will deploy on client, which will be like commercial,
    so we are not able to use PSTools.
    Kindly assist us for achieving the requirement. We have tried all the ways, but nothing is working for us. Kindly suggest.
    I will be really thankful.

    Hi Sir,
    Nothing worked from above for us. You can see our remarks on posted query.
    That’s why, we posted on forum.
    And there will not be any vulnerability, because, if we will use "net
    use ..."
    in network domain; definitely,
    we will provide username and password of mapped drive system.
    And, that system, itself is given by client; so that, there must not be any vulnerability; they are ready to provide user name and password.
    We need a way; by which we can complete the requirement. Kindly assist.

  • Check In/Out doesn't work on network drive?

    My company has used DW's check in/check out functionalities just fine for years, but before now the local copies of a site's files had been stored on each user's Mac's harddrive. I've been working on relocating those local copies to a single network drive that everyone can access so we're all working from the same local copies; most everything's going great except it looks like the check in/out functions are no longer working. It looks like the only indication I can see now in the FTP view is a green check on the remote files pane when something's checked out– the local copies don't show lock or check icons any longer.
    Given that the only change has been moving the local files over to the network drive, I have to assume DW's check in/out (or at least however I have settings set now) doesn't play nice when the local files live on a network drive. Has anyone run into this issue, and is there a fix for it?
    Thanks,
    J

    @Zabeth69:
    Yep, a new site definition's been set up and I've double-checked that the "local files" setting is pointing to the shared network server as the new local folder.
    @Nadia-P:
    At first I didn't think that link had anything that I didn't already know, and then saw these two bullets:
    •  The local root folder for this defined site must be on the local hard drive of a workstation.
    •  Your local root folder should not be shared or on a mounted drive.
    So in short, I suppose those answer my question, but they don't actually say *why* that is– it's hard to believe that the checking feature is limited to a literal local drive, and not a network drive. Seems odd. I'm going to poke around some more and try and figure out why that is, but I'd be grateful if anyone happens to know why in the meantime...

  • Error 0x800704b3 when trying to map a network drive

    Hi there,
    I have the following error when trying to map a network drive in my home network:
    "\\iomegahmd can not be reached" and the error code is 0x800704b3.
    I already looked into the services, and my strong assumption is that the problem is that the service "TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper" is not statrted and it is disabled. When I try to start it, there is an error message:
    "The system could not find the path specified".
    I've also checked the dependency components of the service "TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper":
    Ancillary Function Driver for Winsock
    NetBT
    TCP/IP-Protocol driver
    NetIO-Legacy-TDI Support driver
    in the device manager if they are running, but they are all running. The start is set to "System".
    Under the TCP/IP Internet version 4 properties of the wireless device, under Advanced -> WINS Ive set Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP, but it didnt help either.
    What else could I try, so that I can map network drives?
    I should also mention, that the problem persist since some week ago. Before it, it was properly functioning. Also, on the other computers in my networks I do not have problem accessing the same network drive.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dime

    > I should also mention, that the problem persist since some week ago. Before it, it was properly functioning.
    Its difficult to say whats wrong in your case. My first idea is: set the system to early time point before this error appeared.
    I would also recommend to disable all the security software and check if you come across the same problem.
    If you still face the issue, then follow the link to fix the corrupted user profile.

  • Photoshop CC (2014) cannot see network drives

    I work on a PC running Windows 8.1 x64. Ever since the a Photoshop CC (2014) update a couple of months ago, my network drives are not directly accessible. I have two network drives, mapped as drives X: and Y:. If I work in Lightroom on a file that resides on my network drives and send it to Photoshop for further work, the file will not open in Photoshop. Additionally, I cannot drag-and-drop a file from Windows Explorer into Photoshop (from any drive). I get the circle with the slash through it showing it can't be done. And finally, Bridge, when I'm working in Photoshop CC (2014) cannot open a network drive image in Photoshop.If it is launched after Photoshop, it does not show the network drives. If it is launched before Photoshop, it shows the mapped drives, as I stated before, can't open a file into Photoshop.
    Now for the mind blower. NONE of these things are an issue if I run the "older" Photoshop CC (i.e. - NOT the 2014), which fortunately, I still have on my system.
    Thoughts or help? Thank you.
    Nemo

    Are you able to see the shared folder on the router ? If yes then, Once the set-up page appear, click Storage > Media Server and Enable the UPnP Media Server. Specify Folder to Scan button lets you select content to add to the database of the Router's Media Server. Once you click this button the Media Folder screen appears.Now Check the option Auto-scan click on Scan All and Click on Save Settings.
    Now, On your computer go to My Network Places and you will able to see the shared files and folders.

  • Link to Network Drive with Spaces

    I need to create a link in SharePoint 2010 that points to a network drive with spaces in the title. SharePoint substitutes %20 for spaces, but I need the space character.
    For example:
    file:///\\company\foldername   works
    file:///\\company\folder name   does not work, it becomes
    file:///\\company\folder%20name
    Has anyone run into this issue before?

    Hi Andy,
    20% represents space in url encoding and it is hardcoded. I don’t think it is better to remain space character in the link.

  • Moving part of a catalog to network drive.

    I need some good advice for a catalog of 13k+ photos that I'm trying to clean up. I'm using Elements 7, I have purchased Elements 11, and am planning to install it soon. Part of my photos are physically located on my hard drive, and part are on a network drive mapped as J:.  Elements finds these photos on J: but I don't think that the Elements Catalog is aware that J: is a network drive/removable drive. It looks for them every time I open Elements, making the program very slow to start up. Should I use the "move to removable drive" to move these photos? How will Elements treat these photos that have been sent to a removable disk? Will I still be able to see thumbnails of the photos and search through my tags for them? If I copy my photos to a new drive, but still call that drive J: will Elements be able to find them? And finally, if I perform this "move to removable disk" task, should I do it now with Elements 7 or update to Elements 11 first? Please help. Joanne

    If the Organizer is slow to start and seems to be searching, you should check two things:
    - that you have not set the 'watched folders' service to look at the network drive (file/watched folders menu)
    - that in the preferences, files, you don't have checked automatic search and reconnection.
    If you can access your files on the network drive from the organizer and see the thumbnails, no need to worry. You can move files from your internal drive to and from the network one by the file / move menu or by dragging and dropping folders in folder view. The organizer should not consider the network drive differently from an external USB drive : if such a drive is not physically connected, you'll get 'missing files'. Only the thumbnails which are stored in the catalog will show. It's different from files on a CD/DVD : if they are not connected, you'll get an offline media warning.
    Only the catalog itself (the database) cannot be stored on a network drive; however it can be stored on an USB external drive.
    If you want to upgrade to PSE11, be sure to make a full backup on a second external drive (such USB drives are affordable today). Note that from that backup, you are able to restore the files not only on their original location, but also in custom location, for instance in the internal drive of another computer (even if the original files are scattered over several internal or external drives).
    If you install PSE11 on your present computer, you should be prompted to convert the existing catalog(s) to the new PSE11 format without having any files or folders to move or copy. That conversion does not change anything to your present PSE7 catalog, which is still working as before.

  • How to refresh frame1.jsp from frame2.jsp?

    Hi,
    I have main.jsp that holds frameset that contains "frame1.jsp" and "frame3.jsp".
    on submit at "frame3.jsp" it goes to "frame2.jsp", now I want to refresh "frame1.jsp"
    p.s.
    I don't mind to refresh the "main.jsp", I guess that will refresh the frames inside him too - include "frame1.jsp".
    BUT, how can I do it?

    Hi,
    this seems to be a HTML/JavaScript problem, not JSP related.
    The file frame2.jsp could refresh frame1.jsp using "onLoad" on the <body> tag.
    You could also do this before loading frame2.jsp, while pressing the submit button. Instead of using a submit buton you could use a JavaScript function that would submit the form and reload another frame.
    Good Luck!
    PS: If this isn't enough help, plese post the contents of main.jsp (the frameset) so you can get some real code back.

  • Refreshing Parent.jsp and forwarding to Child.jsp

    Hi
    I have a parent.jsp where I provide criteria to query and export the data to excel. If the resultset is null I forward to parent.jsp with error message, but if there is data I forward to child.jsp.
    If in the first attempt there is no data and display of error message in parent.jsp and in the subsequent second attempt I change the selection criteria and get the data report in excel format, but the error message displayed in parent.jsp for the earlier transaction remains the same i.e. parent.jsp should ideally refresh and then forward to child.jsp.
    Currently I am using the following code and controlling it with a script that is called on click of submit i.e. I set the text (error text) value to null. Is there a better way to achieve this? Kindly help
    <%if (error != null) {%>
    <table>
    <tr>
    <td>
    <input type="text" name="errorMsg"
    style=" color:red; font-size: 8pt; FONT-FAMILY: verdana, helvetica;font-style: TT; border:'0'; font-weight: Bold"
    value='<%= error %>'
    size="141" readonly="readonly"/>

    </tr>

    <%}%>

    Thanks a lot frndz.. for your reply.. but both ways I tried its not working ..Devendra I went thru the code given there in the link but it couldn,t work... I tried for window.opener.refresh(). In spite of refreshing the parent jsp and getting the pop up closed ,it displayed the the refreshed parent JSP in the pop up window. keeping parent JSP intact..

  • Prolem with refreshing my jsp page

    Refreshing the page
    I have a jsp page with few buttons(like add, delete, save), during loading time, it loads data from database and display in a table of row data,when I clicked the delete button to delete a row, it removes a row of data from my database, but it still displays that deleted row, bcoz page has not been refreshed. Now I wrote 2 java script function, one which invokes my delete function in my Action class and another I am trying to again load the page after delete, so that I can get fresh data. But its not happening, do you have any idea, where am I going wrong, or how can I refresh my jsp page after I delete a row. I am getting my data from database and after that I put in session.
    Here is my small code base
    function invokeICCanAssignmentDeleteFunction()
          func();
          initialise();
    // this method deletes my data from DB
        function func()
         alert("alert 1");
        document.forms[0].action='/eta/canAssignment.do?mode=icCanAssignmentDelete';
         alert("alert 2");
    // this method initialise my form bean taking data from db and put in session inside my action class
        function initialise()
         alert("alert 3");
        document.forms[0].action='/eta/canAssignment.do?mode=icCanAssignment';
         alert("alert 4");
        }

    The following two javascript lines will only set the action value of the form and does nothing else. No server call will be made.
    document.forms[0].action='/eta/canAssignment.do?mode=icCanAssignmentDelete';
    document.forms[0].action='/eta/canAssignment.do?mode=icCanAssignment';You need to submit the form to make a server call. For Example:
    document.forms[0].action='/eta/canAssignment.do?mode=icCanAssignmentDelete';
    document.forms[0].submit();Google Javascript tutorials for more.

  • Forbid refresh in jsp

    hi
    I have one jsp with some data.when I refresh jsp with button of browser.The result is:in jsp have data twise.
    when i refresh with browser button servlet execute last action.I dont like this.
    I want to forbid refresh from browser in this jsp,but this is silly,and i dont know how this.
    Any suggestions for that how forbid refresh in jsp or some other decision

    Web apps have to be able to survive all kinds of unexpected user actions with the browser, refresh, back and forward buttons, bookmarking pages in the middle of a conversation, openning a second window on the same page and so on.
    So you need to write your JSP with fewer assumptions about the data it's invoked with.
    Beyond that we'd need more details.
