Reg: Export To Excel From an ALV Grid

Hi All,
I am exporting data from an ALV Grid (FM: REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY).
By Clicking the Standard 'Local File' button --> Spreadsheet
Output Internal table is having data of around 300 Chars in a particular field but in exported Excel sheet it is displaying upto some what less then 240 chars only.
Is there any maximum limit (for a particular field in ALV grid) till what data can be exported to an Excel sheet ?

Error while Exporting to Excel from ALV Report

Dear Experts,
When I am exporting my report output to an Excel Sheet directly some of the headers are appearing in Row No 1 and some are displaying in Row No. 2. Hence the corresponding values are also showing in the same manner.
I want to show all the Rows in a single row in row No 1. I am unable to find the solution for this.
But when I am exporting the same report into the MHTML Excel format the Report Headings are showing correctly in a single row and hence the respective values are also showing correctly in a single row. And if I save the same MHTML Excel as normal EXCEL(97-2003) format then also it is showing correctly.
The problem comes only when I as exporting it directly into EXCEL(97-2003) format.

Hi,
This is the Technical limitation of ABAP list export to local file.
ALV grid greater than 1023 characters per line will be split into 2 lines.
To prevent a line break occuring when you download the list as a local spreadsheet file, you must reduce the width of the list in ALV. You can do this either by hiding columns or by changing the column widths in the ALV. Take care that the column heading characters also dont exceed 1023 characters. This will work.

User unable to view Excel button in ALV grid. Has full authorization

Hi All,
A user in our copany is unable to view Excel button in ALV grid. Has full authorization to S_BDS_DS, S_ALV_LAYOUT.
Please note that this is not the export to Excel button. Its the excel icon which enables the users to view the output in excel format on screen.
I am able to view the Excel Button. can you pls advise what might be the possible root cause.
Are there any authorization objects as well that govern ALV Grid buttons (excel) display.
Please help.
Can we add/delete the buttongs in the ALV grid from somewhere..

oic, only specific user, not all user.
I have a similar problem with you, but not excel button but inbox button on initial screen (session_manager)
deleting this user and re-create this user solved my problem.

Exporting to Excel from Aria People Search

Is it possible to export to Excel from Aria People Search.
I would like to output the Org Chart (built in) and the Tree (I created) to an Excel file.
Does anyone know how to do this?

Hi,
If you are using 10g, then OLE2 is supported. However, it will be executed in the App Server Machine.
If you want to do the operation in the Client machine (as how it was done in the Client / Server), you need to use Client_OLE (Which is part of WebUtil).

Microsoft Excel Icon in ALV Grid Report

Hi all,
We have a customized report. When we execute that reports, it open in ALV Grid format. When we choose "Microsoft Excel" Icon to change layout to Excel, it then shows the report in excel without any data.
Can any one please tell me that why there is no data? should i need to do any settings in excel for this?

Any method to Import & Export to Excel from Client Side

Is there any method to Import and Export to Excel from the Client side. I have one procedure to export to Excel , but the excel file will be opened in the Application Server only, even if it executed from the client side. Also this procedure will not work if OLE2 chnaged CLIENT_OLE2. I am writing my procedure, Is there any idea to get it in the client side.

Alternatively you could use OLE2 to do the bulk of the importing and exporting and then use the webutil file transfer functions to move the file to the client and then simply open the file there...That might be more efficient in terms of performance as well.

You simply need to call method go_grid->check_changed_data at PAI of the dynpro displaying the ALV grid. If data have been changed on the editable ALV grid then this method will raise event DATA_CHANGED. If you do not want or need to handle this event (e.g. for validating the edited values) then you do not define any event handler method.

How to remove values formatting in export to excel from ALV grid

Hi all,
I have small issue, I have ALV Grid with some data, but the problem is with columns containing e.g. gross amounts, because it is displayed in the grid as e.g. 1.764,81, and after export to excel it is still in this format (with dot and comma), so excel doesn't treat it as numeric value but as text, and then when I try to calculate total on the column then this values are not taken to the total. Do you know if that is possible to remove column formatting?

I replied too soon to Peter's suggestions. For some reason, I was able to add new info. to my first new row, but not the second. However, I finally figured out the problem.
I found the Help Center page on: "Here are ways to change custom formats and apply changes to table cells:"
To change the elements associated with a custom format that’s been applied to cells, select the cells and click Show Format in the Format pane of the Table inspector.
I saw that the "cell format" was listed as "automatic," so I changed it to "Custom;" then left the new custom window at it's default settings. Now my cells would accept pasted info. without spreading it through the lower rows. Whatever automatic was in the table, it was not what I wanted. Doing this to other new cells, solved my problem. Thanks again.

Cant use Export to Excel functionality for ALV if I add a custom button

I have added a custom button the the ALV toolbar by creating a GUI status and using the USER_COMMAND event. However. Now I dont the get the standard ALV toolbar with all the options for sorting, exporting to excel etc.
Can someone show me how I can do both, add my own button to the toolbar as well as use ALV Grid toolbar. Currently the ALV grid standard toolbar has disappeared

Hello,
I am not sure how you are creating your ALV report. If you are using FM REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY there is a parameter callled I_CALLBACK_PF_STATUS . Read the documentation for this field from the doc for the FM. It tells you to copy a standard PF status from fucn group SLVC_FULLSCREEN and then add your new button to that staus.
If you are using class CL_SALV_MODEL_BASE there is a method called set_screen_status that lets you do a similar thing - copy an existing PF status and add your button.

Problem with Excel button in ALV Grid...URGENT

I have developed a report in ALV Grid. As we all know that by default we get few buttons in ALV Grid, like summation, sorting download, etc.. In that we have one excel button. When i click that excel button the output of the report should give the output in excel sheet. But this is not working.
The report is running fine except the excel button.

Editable data in excel view of alv grid

hi friends..
now i am displaying the data in alv grid..
my requirement is i want to display the data in excel format.. (not in seperate excel..)
i want to display the excel sheet with data within the screen itself.
for this
i tried this scenario by fallowing steps
in layout->view tab->microsoft excel..
(layout button in the application toolbar i.e pf-status)
it show excel sheet within report and data with excel sheet.
now i got data in excel sheet.
but my requirement is if i made any changes in data in excel means
i want those updated or edited data in the another internal table..
this scenario is work in the case of abap list viewer (instead of microsoft excel)
for this i use one button in the pf-status (UPDATE).
after made changes in grid data i export those modified data to abap memory and download to another internal table..
how can i get the same scenario in micosoft excel

Header of ALV with space when exported to excel using Standard ALV

Hi,
I am Using Reuse alv grid display    to dispaly my report and it works fine and I am using the standard SAP application tool to export it to excel.
But for some of the header fields I am getting space in the excel sheet but there is no space while displaying through ALV.
I am using the following field catalog for the same.

but there are still space for this Colomn when exported to excel if after optimizing the column.

I have use this also in the field cat but stil i get space in the excel header.
wa_fieldcat-REF_FIELDNAME = 'SOLLWERT'.
*    wa_fieldcat-REF_TABNAME = 'QAMV'.
Also the space comes with the descrip[tion in the cell of excel.
its like [space Target Value] and i dont need this Space.
I have also used wa_layout-colwidth_optimize = 'X'. but it doesnt wrk.

Excel view in ALV Grid---- Urgent

Hi,
On executing sample porgram BCALV_FULLSCREEN_DEMO, we get ALV grid display. After that, on Clicking "Microsoft Excel View(controlshiftF7)" we are getting blanck Excel screen view instead of the field values.
I have the same scenario requirement in real time. I want the excel screen with values from ALV Grid.

Hi Mohan,
Try this:
Download Data in EXCEL from ALV list display
 1) Once you have alv report displayed in the screen.
 2) Click button 'View' ( next to print button) on application toolbar
 3) Select Excel in Place
 4) This will download the same format as of Report
I hope your ALV have all the Standard functions in Toolbar. If not copy the status from and get the function as mentioned above.
