Reg:"No result returned or xml returned in the result contains an Error

Dear All,
After adding a query to VC storyboard and than trying to use the option define/test query for this query element, I am facing the below error on pressing the execute button.
"No result returned or xml returned in the result contains an error"
Query is working fine and giving the desired output in BW system.
How can i resolve my problem?

Hi Hemalatha,
this can have several reasons, usually there are variables in the query that aren't filled correctly in the "specify filter" box.
One thing you could do is to personalize all variables in the query and then try to fill one after another in the "specify filter" box.
If you don't get values after you have filled a specific one of them, then this one is passed incorrectly.

If the target table's column is not a BLOB/CLOB (e.g. NVARCHAR(MAX)) and you have text longer than the max value it will not fit into the target, if you are allowed you need to trim it and convert, otherwise sure you get the error as the target datatype
is smaller.

The return of the "Unexpected Data Type" error

I've searched the forum and only found discussions of this from over a year ago, so either I'm a loner or this is rearing its ugly head again.
I've got a project that I've been working on between two machines, both running AE 11.0.2.11 with the same plug-ins. One is a macbook pro, one is a macpro. Both are running 10.6.8 (I believe that's snow leopard). I've been saving the project files and assets to the dropbox folder on my machines so that everything is always in sync between them. ***It's been working flawlessly for months.*** I haven't updated anything recently, other than installing Adobe Acrobat on the desktop machine a few days ago.
This morning on my desktop machine, I couldn't get the project to open without getting the "unexpected data type" error. Holding down shift did nothing. I instinctively started a new project and imported the .aep I was trying to open. No errors! Then I tried to change work spaces and the error came up again. I hit caps lock and tried again. No go. At one point the workspace drop-down had bullets next to *two* of the workspaces, as if they were both active simultaneously.
My workaround for the moment was to go to my dropbox on the website and revert to a previously saved version of the same project (thank *YOU* dropbox) from a few days ago. That opened fine, though it's missing a few hours' work.
My fear is that this will recur and I will have to keep going back in time to keep working (two steps forward, one step back) and I've got a deadline to meet. I will try to stay away from custom workspaces, as one poster to this forum says they are generating that error in CS6 (no helpful replies to that thread).
Anyone else experiencing this in 2013? Any ideas? All help is much appreciated.

I just started getting the same error today. Never would've imagined workspaces would have ANYTHING to do with this. But I just went to workspaces and clicked 'reset workspace' for whatever I was on, reloaded the project and no error. WTF Adobe??

SAP Web Service error text : The database returned a value containing an error , type CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB

Hello Guru's,
we are creating sales order in SAP from a quote created in .NET, through Web Service created in SAP, and consumed in .NET.
When ever a order is created in SAP for a given quote, SAP returns the sales order number to .NET.
Orders are getting created as expected, but once in a while we are getting the following error from webservice :
Web service processing error; more details in the web service error log on provider side (UTC timestamp 20140609173429; Transaction ID 4DFCEFE33301F1EBB5CE00155D0B4530)
But the problem is order is getting created in SAP for the perticular quote for which we are getting the above error and this order number is not getting returned to .NET.
Upon analysis in TCODE SRT_UTIL for the above transaction ID, has the following details , which are hardly help full to resolve the error.

Updating an XML file inside the executable JAR.

I would like to askk how can i update an XML file that is packaged inside my jar file?
For intstance:
I have a Java Application in NetBeans
Inside a package i have constructed a custom .xml file.

Even if it were possible, it would be a bad idea. A jar file is something you deploy. It can be really hard to manage ongoing maintenance if the thing you deploy changes after you've deployed it.
Just create a file, in an appropriate place given the user's OS, to hold data that changes after the jar has been deployed. Your application will still be in a single jar; it's just that the application will happen to create additional content outside the jar.

Open Dataset for XML not reading the XML file, Returning Code 8.

Im trying to open an XML file using Open Dataset, since i have to execute this report in background and GUI_upload doesnt work in background.

Inconsistent results returned from the same query

Hi,
My company has a oracle 8i DB as backend for the website it is currently hosting. I wrote a plain SQL select query to retrive results from a table. Usually the query returns 50 to 100 records. We build an xml based on the results and cache the xml for subsequent user hits.
But atleast once or twice a day we get a problem where it returns almost no records. So the resulting xml will be blank and from there on until we delete the cached xml the user sees the page as blank.
I wonder why this happens, does this happen because of more hits to the oracle database?. Or is it because of the indexes created on the table?. Is oracle not able to handle multiple user requests?. We get mostly like 10 to 20 people clicking at the same time. I don't know what is causing the failure.
Does any of you have this inconsistency problems with Oracle?

If so, check your "Search Settings" from the "gear" in the upper-right corner of that Google search page and see if you have '''Open search results in a new browser window.''' check-marked, at the bottom of that preferences page. You write that it worked "before"; before what? An update? Update from what version to what version?

"No results were returned by the query" exception

im using postgreSql (7.2) as a backend and JDBC3 (from http://jdbc.postgresql.org/).
im getting the exception, "No results were returned by the query" whenever i try to do an insert. the weird thing is that insert works and i can see a record in the database, but i still get this exception and i can't do anything.

you should use executeUpdate for queries that do not return result sets. that would include insert, update and delete.
i didn't know that, that would cause a problem with postgreSql jdbc. im use to of Oracle and i never got these problems with Oracle
this is not a problem with postgres it is a problem with your lack of understanding the API and the Oracle driver if it let's you do this is wrong.
the API clearly states that is you try and execute a SQL statement that does not produce a ResultSet with executeQuery then a SQLException should be thrown.
so again the postgres driver is correct you and the oracle driver are wrong.

Rule Result not returned back to Workflow container

Hi ,
We have a workflow where the approver for a Process is Manager of any Orgunit .
Now the manager is determined using a Rule with Category u201CFunction To be executedu201D .
The Business requirement is so that If the immediate manager for any Orgunit is not maintained it will traverse through the entire Org structure unless the Manager is determined. So the Level of the First approver could be of any value starting from 01.
We also have Deadline monitoring active .
Incase the first approver doesnu2019t act within 7 days the Work item should go to the next level Manager ( second approver ).
The level of the second approver depends on the level of the First approver .
Example : If the level of the First approver is 3 then the level of the second approver would be 4 or more.
: If the level of the First approver is 2 then the level of the second approver would be 3 or more.
Hence to achieve the Level dynamically we need to pass the Level of the first approver from the Rule to the Workflow so that it can be used for determining the next level manager in the next task.
In the Function Module which determines the first approver I have got the Value for the Level .
I also have assigned that value to the Rule Container (_WI_RESULT , this is the only parameter which can be used for the Export ) using the Macro SWC_SET_ELEMENT .
I also have done the binding from the Rule to the Workflow. But the value is not populated in the Workflow container .
Could any one please help me on solving this ?? Any other idea to achieve this is functionality is welcome too.

First of all thanks for the reply .
We alreday have some logic like this in place .
But we want to imporve the system performance .
We get the agent in one task from the Rule .
Now again if we try to get the same agent in a method ,won't it be doing the same task twice.
So we are trying to return the manager Counter value from the Rule container itself to the Workflow container so that it can be used to get the escalation manager.

Database adapter not returning all the records

I've taken over a BPEL from a developer who left the organization and have been having an issue during our User Acceptance Testing. We are querying a table that will return the insurance enrollment information for employee's and their dependants. When an employee change plans, or adds people, the old plan is terminated and a new once is created. When this happens there will be two records on the database to show the old plan and the new plan.
When we run the SQL thru JDEV or SQLDeveloper, the data comes out fine. When we run it through a BPEL Database Adapter we are only getting one of the rows returned.
I have created a small tester BPEL that is easily modified and deployed to run the same query to try multiple configurations changes within the DBAdapter. What I have found is all the records are returned when the "Return single result set" box on the DBAdapter Wizard is unchecked. When it's checked then it only returns one record for the employees with an old and a new plan.
Can someone explain what the "Return single result set" option does, and what the impact will be if it's unchecked?

In same way i am using two parent-child(header-line) tables. they have one to many relationship.
I want to generate XML which contains multiple line items under a child elements for header elements.
I have tried it but i am getting only one line under that child item. i am using jdev10.0.3.3.0
can u help me please.
