Regarding BADI error handling

Hi,
I have a requirement to generate a reference code for a publication and when the publication is saved with out reference code it should display message on the portal.
So how can we handle error messages in the BADI or in the E-Recruiting portal.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks,
Anil

Hello Anil,
unfortunately the BADI for reference code generation is only called on request. When you activate a BADI implementation the button for generation appears on the screen and can be used.
But only when you press this button the BADI is called and within this call you can create an error message for example if you generate date or channel dependent reference codes and the user did not enter this data yet.
The BADI is not processed when saving the publication so you have no option to use it for raising an error message when saving an empty or not matching reference code.
The only solution I currently know for your problem is modifying the system. If you do not want to make a modification (as it has quite a lot of negative consequences) you could copy the bsp view parts of the publication tab into the customer namespace and change the behaviour to whatever you like as customer development. You replace the original tab with the customer one in the container sequence customizing.

    HI . i want to learn idoc error handling on sap xi side because  my current project is in PRODUCTION They implemented lot of idocs so is there any documents(guides ) regarding error handling of idocs  for both sender and receiver side.

    Hi
    Please refer File to IDOC Scenario..
    the 2nd post (Troubleshooting IDOC scenario) from Swarup Sawant  , you will get a very good understanding

  • BPM error handling

    Hi,
    I've read many messages on this forum regarding BPM error handling but am still a little confused.
    In my scenario the BPM is quite simple. All it does is Call web service (synchrous) then transform and then call another web service synchronous.
    Now , If any call to the two web services fails , I would like to be able to restart the two calls... now if they fail again, I would like to be able to restart the two calls again... until they work. But each time the restart would be done manualy in the BPM monitoring transactions.
    The way I understand the error handling
    if I put my synchronous send steps and transformations in a step and catch the exception they throw , I can send myself an alert and then throw another exception which I dont handle. This way , since that exception is not handled , it will set the process in error and I can restart the process later.
    However , how can I set it up so that when I restart the bpm , both calls are done again and the same exception handling happens.
    Now , when I restart, it seems only what comes after the block and the exception is executed. If I put the sync send calls in the exception handling branch, that will allow me to run the send steps once after an exception...
    Thanks.

    Even if I don't throw the exception and its a System error on the synchonous call, the BPM is in error but the next call will
    go through...
    I don't know what the point of EOIO was in that case ?
    Even having an Exception branch is enough....you need not compulsorily have anything in it.....so when an exception occurs in your Sync step the control goes to the Exception Branch of the Block....but since there is no step defined in the branch nothing happens.....and the Control then passes to the next branch as in a normal flow.....
    Since the Exception branch is defined the BPM will not wait/ stop/ error-out if any thing goes wrong in the Sync Send step.....it will continue....this is the normal behavior....an error entry will however be shown...if you want that your process stops if the Sync Send fails then have a Control Step (Action--> Cancel Process) in the Exception Branch

  • Bursting with JAVA APIs / MultiThreading / Errors Handling

    We are trying to use the bursting JAVA APIs 10.1.3.3.1 Standalone) to burst huge XML files and generate PDF Files from RTF templates. Here are a list of our issues with this feature:
    1. We have some problems catching the errors when bursting. We have tried to use the "oracle.apps.xdo.common.log.Logger" class, but it is not always reacting like we think it should. Could you please give us an exemple of a clean bursting error catching or a brief description of how we could do it. We have a lot of difficulties to find information about using the JAVA APIs of BIP.
    2. Is it a clean way of catching the bursting errors to use the "oracle.apps.xdo.common.log.Logger" class?
    3. When using the 10.1.3.3.1 DocumentProcessor JAVA API, the process gets killed when the RTF template is not where the control file specified it. Even when using a finally clause containing the document processor, we can't fetch the error from the "oracle.apps.xdo.common.log.Logger" class. We did not find a way to catch this error which make our program crash.
    4. How can we enable multi-threading that is included in the DocumentProcessor JAVA APIs so it can take advantage of the multi-processors environnements?

    1. Check tim d. blog, you can use the bursting listners to get the errors. It's also in the documentation.
    First, on every exception, the Bursting APIs are dumping the error in the Logger. So I can't see how we can use the listeners to catch these. We can check the hasExceptions on the Logger but still, we have some problems with this. When we deploy our application as a MDB (Message driven bean), it seems that once the hasException flag has been raised, if we call the MDB again, it is still up. Is there documentation about that Logger class? Also, I'm worried that we won't be able to call our MDB twice to run simultaneously 2 different bursting process since it seems the Logger is something static, keeping every exception in memory... That's bad.. And show me where you have found documentation about this. All I see in documentation is how to call the DocumentProcessor in a couple of lines. I don't see anything about a clean way to catch errors.
    2. Yes/No/Depends. I think it's fine. If your changing the logger options in your program that could come back to haunt you.
    I guess so, I'm not changing anything and its already haunting me...
    Even worst, when we deploy the component has an MDB, when the error happens, it kills the whole oc4j container... please correct this quick.
    4. How can we enable multi-threading that is included in the DocumentProcessor JAVA APIs so it can take advantage of the multi-processors environnements?
    We got an answer from the dev team which is to add two properties to the document processor, something like:
    enable-multithreading: true
    thread-count: >2
    We did that and what we got is that the process started and it got stuck in a dead lock at the first document processing. How nice! :)
    We got a milestone in March and I'm really worried about all those problems... Not enough documentation, a pretty bad error handling, errors making crash the whole oc4j container, Logger seems not to be handling simultaneous calls/ threads, not even handling two subsequent calls... etc.
    If anyone has the magic answer, it would be pretty welcomed!
    Thanks

  • 11g: Custom error handling for all application raised exceptions?

    Hi,
    the only thing I can find in the documentation regarding an error handler is this: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b31974/web_adv.htm#BABEHFHI (26.8)
    However, this kind of error handler seems to ignore exceptions thrown in backing beans and underlaying business logic inplemented in app modules.
    Is there a way to globaly handle those exceptions and show an error message if an exception is throw or is the only way a catch block in each backing bean method?
    Thanks

    So, If I understand correctly, the only option is to redirect to exception handler view and show eror informatin there.
    If, however, we want to present errors in popup messages, we have to handle exceptions in all backing bean's methods, e.g.:
    catch (Exception ex){
    handleError(ex);
    public void handleError(Exception ex){
    FacesContext fctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    FacesMessage message=
    new FacesMessage(
    FacesMessage.SEVERITY_ERROR,
    "Error",
    ex.getMessage());
    fctx.addMessage(null,message);
    Is that correct?
    Thanks

  • "The document could not be opened. Bad file handle."  Error

    Greetings,
    I have many operators opening documentation using acrobat reader 8.1.2. When the documents are opened, sometimes a change has to be done to the file. I use computer management to "kick" everyone out of the files, update the .pdf, and then they can re-open the file to see the latest and greatest version. The problem is, if not everyone is out of the file, I sometimes get a ""The document could not be opened. Bad file handle." error, and have to usually wait a period of time before it will let anyone in. I think it has something to do with the windows temp files, but am unsure. It's hard to ensure everyone is out of the document on time, as up to 50 people may be in it at the same time.
    Is there perhaps a better way of publishing the new verison of the document?
    Thanks for any help you can provide!

    these two errors below is what I am receiving when do a program integrity scan: common program locations.
    I have done a repair on acrobat reader and I do have the two dll files I even put them in reader folder and still receiving the errors.

  • General Inquiry Regarding Error Handling with System Exec.vi

    I have a sub vi that uses the System Exec.vi to send SMS messages when triggered. I am confused as to how the error handling works and why all of the errors seem to go to the "standard error" vs the "Error out". The reason I am interested is because I am trying to interrupt the error out of another script to execute a command if error=true.
    I have intentionally created an error to test this, however it does not seem that the signal is ever being sent to the error out, only to the standard error.
    Any help/explanation as to how this works would be greatly appreciated.

  • BADI create PO and REQ back: error handling

    Hello everyone,
    I've got an implementation in the BADIs BBP_CREATE_PO_BACK and BBP_CREATE_REQ_BACK.
    The only thing which is missing is the error handling.
    Is there any standard method to report errors out of this BADIs in the application monitor of SRM?
    Thanks for any answer!

    Hi,
    Manoj
    With BADI BBP_TARGET_OBJECTS
    Method DETERMINE_TARGET_OBJECTS
    You determine the object to be created in the back end
    OBJ_TO_GEN = 3 -> Purchase Order
    OBJ_TO_GEN = 2 -> Purchase requisition
    If something go wrong in the creation of the PO the system try to create a PReq and so the program passes in BBP_REQREQ_TRANSFER. Otherwise the the system try to create a PO passing in  BBP_CREATE_PO_BACK.
    Please pay attention to not have any approval step before the creation of the purchase order. So it is better if you park SC without approval steps for the debugging test.
    Hope it helps.

  • Error handling in overridden methods in AbstractPageBean

    Hi,
    I'm writing a small app in JSF. One of the pages populates a bunch of text fields from an XML file whose name is passed into the app as an initialization parameter. The purpose of the page is to allow editing of the fields.
    It seemed that the prerender() method was the right place to initialize the fields in the form. I have an application-scoped bean trying to open the XML file. I don't want the app to barf on initialization if the file doesn't exist, because the application contains the logic to create the file. So it just sets the appropriate forward target ("file does not exist" page, or maybe XML parse error) and lets the pages that use those bean properties decide when and if they need to display the initialization error page.
    I would like to throw an exception from the prerender() method in my page, and have the error handling specified in web.xml. The problem, of course, is that I can't throw my own exception from prerender().
    So, have I got the wrong place to initialize my form, or do I have to throw a javax.faces.FacesException, or have I got this whole error-handling thing wrong?
    Any advice would be gratefully received.
    Many thanks.
    Regards,
    Mike
    public void prerender(){
            // Get ApplicationBean1 to forward the request if we fail to
            // initialize properly.
            ApplicationBean1 ab1 = getApplicationBean1();
            HttpServletRequest req = (HttpServletRequest) this.getFacesContext().
                    getExternalContext().
                    getRequest();
            HttpServletResponse res = (HttpServletResponse) this.getFacesContext().
                    getExternalContext().
                    getResponse();
            if(!ab1.isInitialized()){
                //The initialization code for ApplicationBean1() sets the
                //target when it detects an error and then forwards the
                //request to that target upon invocation of the forwardRequest
                //method
                ab1.forwardRequest(req,res);
            // These are the input components
            tfClonebase.setValue(ab1.getClonebase());
            tfDhcpdconf.setValue(ab1.getDhcpdconf());
            tfNamedrev.setValue(ab1.getNamedrev());
            tfNamedzone.setValue(ab1.getNamedzone());
            tfPxelinux.setValue(ab1.getPxelinux());
            tfXmldir.setValue(ab1.getXmlDir());
        }

    Well, I'm certainly no expert, but prerender() is called, as you might expect, just before rendering takes place (but only if the page will actually be rendered). This means it won't be called for a page that handled a postback but then navigated to a different page. Good place to handle initializations that happen before rendering.
    So my thinking was that I could initialize stuff before there's anything in the response, making it easier to bail out if something goes bad.
    But I really can't work out the right way to bail out: I can't throw my own exception because the prerender() is overridden from AbstractPageBean. So I suppose I could create a MikesBadInitException e and throw it inside a new javax.faces.FacesException(e). But I'd like to specify an error-page in my web.xml for MikesBadInitException, and don't want to handle all javax.faces.FacesExceptions, if you get my drift.

  • Report and Alert don't executed in the error handler with a JMS proxy service

    Hi,
    I'm working with OSB 11.1.1.4.0 and I'm facing a problem with the error handler of my JMS proxy service.
    My error handler contains two main elements :
    - a Report action
    - an Alert with a JMS destination defined
    When the business service failed the message remain in the queue. It's the expected behavior.
    The problem is :
    - the report is missing
    - the alert is raised but missing in the JMS destination defined in the Alert setting.
    I've noticed if I add a Reply with Failure or Success, Report and Alert are successfully executed.
    Unfortunately the message don't remain in the JMS queue.
    What can I do in order to have my report/alert done and the JMS transaction rollback in order to keep the message in the queue ?
    I've already met this problem in the past with alsb v3 and my solution was to add Service Callout in the error handler in order to externalize these actions.
    This solution is not convenient and I hope another solution is possible.

    Inventorying workgroups can be difficult, especially when it comes to remote access and network security. Because workgroups are not centrally managed, some of the items discussed in this
    wiki article on preparing your workgroup environment may require you to visit each machine individually.
    For non-domain credentials, you do not use the <systemname>\<user> format, you simply enter the user name. Regarding how to enter the credentials, if you have an account that uses the same username and password on all machines and is an administrator
    on all of those machines, then you can enter that in the All computers credentials page of the wizard. You can also do this if they are different user names. However, if some machines have an account with the same user name, such as Administrator,
    but different passwords on each machine, you will need to use the Manually enter computer names discovery method, and then enter the information for each group or each machine.
    As you can tell, workgroup environments can quickly negate any benefit that the agentless inventory nature of MAP provides.

    Errors in monitoring of process chains can be categorized into 4 different sections...
    Master data - Full Update
    Master data - Delta Update
    Transaction data - Full Update
    Transaction data - Delta Update.. in terms of loading of data which can be due to server shut down or system maintenance... errors due to incorrect entries in the OLTP system in which case you'll have to fix the errors in the PSA and manually load the data...
    Otherwise it can have errors on Attribute change run being locked by some other job... Aggregate Roll up failing because of attribute change run being run at the same time... Problem with hierarchies and save hierarchies...
    There can be problems with the data store activation if the ODS object contains any incorrect request sitting inside it... then, you need to delete the incorrect request and reload the data again...
    In case of Transaction Delta failure, you'll have to request for a repeat either manually in the infopackage or using the repeat option if available on right clicking the load event...
    For Master Data Delta failures, you need to do an Re-init by deleteing the previous initalization condition in the "initalization option for source systems" in the menu scheduler or reschedule the enitre chain... because, master data generally do not support repeat of last delta ...

  • Error Handling in File Adapter

    I have been working on a requirement where the file adapter picks up the file and gives to the BPEL for processing the data.
    So, in order to do Error Handling for file adapter, i have been reading the Oracle documentation for technology adapters. In that, some of the
    points which i felt valuable for my error handling when using file adapter are the uniqueMessageSeparator property, fault-policies for rejected messages,
    and one of the action for rejected messages could be writing the payload to a file or invoking any other webservice.
    In my composite, i have configured the file adapter as a service for reading files, and i defined the xsd using the native format builder....If i put some data like 'aaaa' in the attribute of type integer , the .csv file is being picked up and its being passed to the BPEL without any error ? I believe there should be a translation error...right...
    But i am not getting the error, please tell me if anything is wrong in my xsd....

    And for DB Adapter, there is a property called SchemaValidation, i think that is not there for File adapter, by default it will take care of validation i guess....In another composite, my file adapter is picking up the .xml file and if i put any wrong data over there, that is working fine, i am getting the translation error, but only here in the case of csv file, i am not getting the error. Experts, please help me in this regard...I am using SOA 11G
    Thanks,
    Naresh

    Hi Yatan,
    Thanks for the reply. I did the same way, where my composite is picking up an XML file and translation error is coming. Even the fault policies are working fine, like writing to a file and even invoking other web service. Its really good that you have achieved the same thing in csv files. But the same thing i am unable to achieve when my file adapter is picking up the csv file. I really cant understand where i am doing wrong.
    here is my XSD which i defined through my native builder format...

    the jca file ..
    <adapter-config name="FileRecv" adapter="File Adapter" wsdlLocation="FileRecv.wsdl" xmlns="http://platform.integration.oracle/blocks/adapter/fw/metadata">
    <connection-factory location="eis/FileAdapter" UIincludeWildcard="n*.csv"/>

    <property name="IncludeFiles" value="n.*\.csv"/>
    <property name="UseHeaders" value="false"/>
    </activation-spec>
    </endpoint-activation>
    </adapter-config>
    I told that the file will contain only 1 record while defining xsd and i kept a record whose values are John , Peter and akjdkjdskj.
    Now if the data is like above, the file is still getting picked up without any translation error and the BPEL is getting completed successfully...
    Is it possible for you to send your sample project and the csv file from which you have defined the xsd to me if you dont mind ?
    Thanks,

  • Error handling in File - XI - SOAP scenario without BPM

    Hello!
    We have a File -> XI -> SOAP scenario without BPM. The problem is that if the Web Service sends back an error XI tries to reprocess the same message again and again instead of taking the next one.
    We do not want set the retry interval to NULL because most error cases are temporary connection problems and then also those messages would not automatically be reprocessed any more.
    We also have to use BE instead of EO, otherwise the Web Service will not return a response. But we need the response to be sure that the processing was successful. The message volume in this scenario is quite high and we do not want to use BPM only for the error handling.
    I know that from SP19 some additional adapter modules are available for async - sync scenarios without BPM. I tried to configure it like described in File - RFC - File without a BPM - Possible from SP 19. but it did not solve the problem. Does anybody have any other ideas? Thanks.
    Regards, Tanja

    Hi Tanja,
    >>>The volume is 3000 messages/day on business days and 700 messages/day during weekends but the traffic will increase in the future
    I think, you should check that out. It is assumedly only 2 days work to build a scenario:
    IDoc -> BP
    BP <-> SOAP/HTTP
    BP -> IDoc (Acknowledgement)
    In the process you need a condition branch, where you decide success or not. You need 2 Interface Mappings for filling the ALEAUD.
    Just send 1000 IDocs to the Test-XI and look to performance monitoring at Runtime Workbench, to find out, how many message will be processed in one hour. Assumedly 3000 and more per day should be possible. The advantage would be to reduce number of systems (no file system) and messages (better monitoring) and using the standard (better maintenance).
    >>>So you are suggesting I should use HTTP adapter and then add the SOAP header manually in a mapping?
    Yes, build the SOAP envelop during the mapping. Most easy is to use XSL or, if your mapping is ready, an additionsal XSL. You can put the error into the Acknowledgement to see it in ERP transaction WE02.
    Filling of ALEAUD fields:
    E1ADHDR/MESTYP: original message type
    E1ADHDR/E1STATE/DOCNUM: original IDoc number
    E1ADHDR/E1STATE/STATUS: 68 in case of error, 53 in case of success
    E1ADHDR/E1STATE/STATXT: Short description for R/3 user what has happend
    I ve done such a scenario several times. That works without any problems.
    Regards,
    Udo
