Regarding BDC with RFC Enabled FM

Hi,
When we run BDC with function module, I believe its the session method, but after the program is run I do not see any session in SM35, even if I KEEP THE SESSION ('X'). I am using the following function mod. however the data is being updated.
CALL FUNCTION 'Z_FM_Z1_REC'
   EXPORTING
     mode                 = 'N'
   UPDATE               = 'A'
     group                = s_name
   USER                 = sy-uname
   KEEP                 = 'X'
   HOLDDATE             = h_date
  NODATA               = '/'
   MATNR_001            = i_tab-matnr
   MBRSH_002            = i_tab-mbrsh
   MTART_003            = i_tab-mtart
   KZSEL_01_004         = 'X'
   MAKTX_005            = i_tab-maktx
   MEINS_006            = i_tab-meins
   MTPOS_MARA_007       = 'NORM'
IMPORTING
   SUBRC                = subrc
TABLES
   MESSTAB              = messtab  .
Also, this FM is RFC enabled but does not work, any idea why ?
Thirdly, where is this session data stored (database table).
Thanks!

Hi,
Answer to Q1) You need to check the content of your custom FM... Check if you have used BDC_OPEN_GROUP, BDC_INSERT and BDC_CLOSE_GROUP to generate the session... it is NOT the question with the FM that you are using...
First, try using the above mentioned FMs to generate session... if it works (and it should), then put them into your custom FM.
Answer to Q2) The table for storing all the BDC sessions is APQI.

  • BAPI with RFC enables creation and mapping required settings

    Dear Experts,
    My client is having their old legacy system in .Net .
    Now their requirement is whenever they will create Vendor in their system that created vendor entry should be created automatically in SAP.
    I dont know about BAPI and RFC and how it will work.
    I will try to go up to the creation of BAPI with RFC enabled.
    But to map their requirement what Steps and Setting need to be done in SAP as well as in their Legacy system (.Net).
    Please guide me to solve the issue.

  • Function module with RFC enable

    Hello ABAPers,
    Im a new comer in ABAP and I would like to have a basic knowledge in RFC using a function module/function group..
    I have this project in Travel Dept...I need to connect on a different system using SAP connector...meaning...I will logon to SAP and connect to another system which is VB.net and has a back-end of SQL 2000. After connection I need to select or search a data to that table...for me to get the ticket number.
    Before I tried to connect from VB.net to SAP...and successfully used the SAP connector...now I need the vice versa version of this approach..
    Can anyone help me? please....
    Thanks in advance...Will reward points

    For Basic Understanding just look at RFC_READ_TABLE FM,This will give good example
    Also Check the SM59 Transaction to create RFC Destination

  • RFC enabled function module is not runing the BDC code in it.

    Dear Experts,
    1. We have created a RFC enabled function module to change status of a activity and to save it we are using BDC code and we have also put the code in the RFC FM only.
    The RFC fm is runing fine and changing the data and also saving it by runing the BDC when run in the R/3 system only.
    But when i run the FM from portal its just chaning the status but not runing the BDC code in it.

    Dear experts,
    Already the FM is RFC enabled other i won't be able to call it from portal
    and coming to using the BAPI_ACTIVITY CHANGE fm that acting very weird so we are using the CRM EXTERN CHANGE USER STATUS fm which is working fine but the only problem is even when we comit from BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT its not getting the delta queue of BW updated eventhough its chaning the status.
    So for the above reasons we are using the BDC code in the FM for pressing the save button then its will update the changes to BW delta queue as well.
    its working fine when i run it from the system in tcode SE37 only the BDC code is not runing when i am doing it from portal apart from the fm is chaning the status .
    thanks and regards

  • Problem with String parameters while Calling RFC enabled Function Module

    Hi all,
    I execute BAPI(RFC enabled Function Module) from my WebDynpro Application and retrieve data from R/3.
    To fetch the data I pass few String parameters to BAPI from my Dynpro Application.
    Now the problem is that while making this call, the parameters are automatically converted to UpperCase. And I want those parameters in the original case at R/3.
    I am not able to find out whether this conversion occurs at Dynpro side or R/3 Side.
    Should i configure my BAPI(RFC enabled Function Module) or is there some option on the Dynpro Side to preserve the Case of the String?
    Please help me.
    Thanks,
    Darshil

    Hi Darshil,
    I'm not sure whether you have experience with ABAP or you are a Java Programmer, but we cannot set that flag permanently.
    Now, if you are saying that the domains are marked with the <i>Lowercase</i> attribute, then it means that the final table field will be capable of holding Case Sensitive data.
    I have a hunch that the case-conversion is happenning at the Web-Dynpro side. Or, the application logic converts the string to UPPERCASE explicitly.
    By the way, which BAPI are you talking about ?

    Anand Mandalika.

  • RFC enabled function module using call transaction

    Hi,
    We have a scenario wherein we have a RFC enabled function module which inturn uses a call transaction to create a PM order & attaches the PM notification against it. Sometimes it so happens that the order does not get created for some reason or the other and there are no logs generated on the system to investigate. However we are capturing the messages produced via the BDCMSGCOLL. At present we are using the update parameter as 'L'.
    In some scenarios it states that the notification is locked by the same notification and comes out without creating the order, in this process we are losing out on the order & the notification number which if successful would have got updated in the database.
    I know this could be done via the BAPI, but there are innumerable steps within the BDC which can't be actually done using the BAPI and hence we could not use this procedure.
    Is there any other way by which we can ensure that there's always a successful order creation, I mean without losing out on the order/notification number?. Would changing the update mode to 'S' help?. Since this process is time bound, it can't actually take more time then what its taking with the current logic.
    Please let me know if you require further details on the same. Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Vidya

    Sorry for an unclear replay.
    In Simple terms; I have 2 scenarios;
    Launch a new tab (IW38 tcode), on click of a button in SAP screen of custom transaction in NWBC.
    Launch a new tab (IW38 tcode), on click of a button in a Non - SAP App opened (using URL) in NWBC.
    For 1st case, i have used
    CL_NWBC=>URL_CONSTRUCT
      EXPORTING
         CANVAS_WDA__CLIENT_TYPE       = 'nwbc'
         CANVAS_TRANSACTION            = 'IW38'
      RECEIVING
         URL                           = lv_URL.
    CALL METHOD CL_NWBC=>URL_LAUNCH
       EXPORTING
         URL    = lv_url
    But it gets open in NWBC HTML not in NWBC Desktop client.
    I tried all the Parameters you have mentioned in your response to this post earlier, but nothing worked. the last one is CANVAS__WINDOW which actually hides the top area and few buttons but still it is a HTML version.
    If i set the HTML_CLIENT = ABAP_FALSE, it launches a new window instead of the tab and asks for Login. If i login in can see the IW38 in NWBC desktop client. But the only problem is we have the restriction of single window/single login for users.
    I am on NWBC PL12 and also updated the GUI 7.3 to PL8.
    Simply the problem is URL_CONSTRUCT for any transaction is launching it in a new tab but in HTML Version.
    For 2nd case,
    It asks for the login details on click of a button on the 3rd party URL opened in NWBC. which means i am launching SAP from a 3rd party.
    Is there any way to achieve the launch of new tab in this case instead of the new window ?
    I hope its more clear now.
    Regards,
    Nik.

  • BDC and RFC

    dear all, may I know what is the different between BDC and RFC?

    Hi,
    <b>
    BDC:</b>
    Batch Data Communication (BDC) is the process of transferring data from one SAP System to another SAP system or from a non-SAP system to SAP System.
    Features :
    BDC is an automatic procedure.
    This method is used to transfer large amount of data that is available in electronic medium.
    BDC can be used primarily when installing the SAP system and when transferring data from a legacy system (external system).
    BDC uses normal transaction codes to transfer data.
    Types of BDC :
    CLASSICAL BATCH INPUT (Session Method)
    CALL TRANSACTION
    BATCH INPUT METHOD:
    This method is also called as ‘CLASSICAL METHOD’.
    Features:
    Asynchronous processing.
    Synchronous Processing in database update.
    Transfer data for more than one transaction.
    Batch input processing log will be generated.
    During processing, no transaction is started until the previous transaction has been written to the database.
    CALL TRANSACTION METHOD :
    This is another method to transfer data from the legacy system.
    Features:
    Synchronous processing. The system performs a database commit immediately before and after the CALL TRANSACTION USING statement.
    Updating the database can be either synchronous or asynchronous. The program specifies the update type.
    Transfer data for a single transaction.
    Transfers data for a sequence of dialog screens.
    No batch input processing log is generated.

    <b>
    RFC</b>
    Remote Function Call:
    RFCs are requests that an SAP component sends to invoke functions on remote systems, or calls that remote systems initiate to invoke functions on an SAP component.A process that can accept RFCs from SAP components. This allows SAP components to access functions in external systems. In SAP BC terminology, the process is called a Listener. Listeners are one or more threads on SAP Business Connector that wait for incoming requests from SAP components. Listeners are named and register with an SAP gateway to indicate that they are ready to accept requests. Listeners can accept RFC or tRFC requests.
    Transactional RFC (tRFC) and Queued RFC (qRFC). tRFC is used mainly to transfer ALE Intermediate Documents (IDocs).
    Transactional RFC:
    If an error occurs during a synchronous remote function call, the system cannot tell at what point the error occurred (most crucially, whether the function module was actually processed in R/3 before the operation failed). Restarting a failed call is therefore a dangerous thing to do, since you risk duplicating a completed function call.
    To alleviate this problem, you can use transactional RFC, which guarantees that each function call you issue will only be executed once, even if you submit it repeatedly to the R/3 System. The system implements this safeguard by assigning a unique transaction ID (TID) to each transaction that you submit. When you attempt to process the transaction, the system checks whether that TID has already been processed. If it has, the transaction is ignored.
    Queued RFC:
    When you use transactional RFC, you cannot guarantee the order in which the function calls will be processed in the system (it is quite possible that one call might overtake another). For cases where you need to specify a particular processing order, you can use queued RFC, which is an extension of transactional RFC. In qRFC, you place each function call in a logical queue. A function call cannot be executed until all of its predecessors in the queue have been processed. Queued RFC calls are processed asynchronously.
    RFC is an SAP interface protocol. Based on CPI-C, it considerably simplifies the programming of communication processes between systems.
    RFCs enable you to call and execute predefined functions in a remote system - or even in the same system.
    RFCs manage the communication process, parameter transfer and error handling.

  • Ideas in calling a non RFC enabled FM from another system

    Hi guys,
    I have a request to check the status of the background jobs in miscellaneous systems in the landscape. I'll probably use FM BP_FIND_JOBS_WITH_PROGRAM. The thing is this function is not Remote-Enabled and I need one which is. My idea was to create one RFC-enabled with more or less the same parameters, inside just calling the standard one. I'm not really convinced this is the best approach so that's why I'm asking: is there a better way to do this, any ideas?
    Best regards,
    George

    Function module BP_FIND_JOBS_WITH_PROGRAM either does not exist or is not RFC-enabled.
    No proxies for non RFC-enabled functions.
    Even if it was allowed, then I would have to find out how to consume web services from my ABAP report and everything... sounds interesting but as with all programs this needs to be delivered on time.

  • RFC enabled FM to fetch partner details of vendor from ECC system

    Hi All,
    I am working on an enhancement in SRM system.the requirement is as follows.
    1.In the current SRM application, the invoicing party partner function does not exist.Because of this, the invoicing party cannot be populated on any external purchasing documents such as RFQ, PO, RO, contracts.
    2.This functionality exists in ECC. In ECC, the user can enter an invoicing party on a vendor master record.The invoicing party functionality will be deployed to SRM so that external purchasing documents are populated with the correct invoicing party.There is a standard vendor replication program for this...
    To accomplish the above said functionality, I have planned to do like this in SRM system....
    1.There is a BADI "BBP_DOC_CHANGE_BADI" with a method "BBP_PO_CHANGE ". This will get triggered when a PO is getting created or changed.
    2.In that there is a table called IT_PARTNERS which will have all the partner details in it.
    3.I will take the partner (vendor number i.e.,partner function is 0000019) and pass that value to an RFC enabled function module which will fetch the invoicing party from ECC system.
    4.Later that Invoicing party number is appended to the IT_PARTNERS so that it will be populated on any external purchasing documents.
    Here I want to know whether any standard RFC enabled function module which fetches the invoice party details from ECC system.
    Awaiting your answers...
    Thanks,
    Ravee..

    Hi. Just use function RFC_READ_TABLE and table WYT3.

  • RFC Function Module - Message Reference parameters are not allowed with RFC

    Hi,
    I’ve checked the Remote-Enabled Module radio button, declared Import and Export parameters using ‘Type’ typing and checked the ‘Pass Value’ in export and import parameters but I still receive message ‘Reference parameters are not allowed with RFC’ and not able to activate the function module.
    Am I missing something?
    Regards,
    ...Naddy

    Hi all,
                   I faced the same problem and solved it ,
    You have defined a reference parameter for a remotely called
      function module. However, only value parameters are allowed
      for this type of module.
      Procedure
      Change the reference parameter to a value parameter.
    Guys  pls .don't leave the thread un-asnwered when you solved problem , post the solution it might be useful for others also.

  • Calling RFC enabled FM IN BACKGROUND TASK

    Hi Frnds,
    I have a requirement where in I need to call a FM which executes 'VA02' BDC in some user exit.
    Since this has to be executed after the commit work is executed in the calling program i am using the background mode.
    something like below,
      CALL FUNCTION 'Z_SD_AVAILABILITY_CHECK_BDC'
        IN BACKGROUND TASK
        DESTINATION 'NONE'
        TABLES
          t_vbap = xvbap.
    This above FM is RFC enabled.
    And this FM is also called successfully and VA02 is executed without any error. But the FM's session does not get killed after its executed completly. Instead it creates another session of the same FM and executes the BDC again. This is goion on and on and multiple sessions are created at the end.
    Am I missing something here? Do I have to include the Performing RETURN_INFO ON END OF TASK  also?
    Please give ur suggestions.
    regards,
    Karthick C

    Hi,
    Check the SM58 to see how many calls are there. It might be that the function is called multiple times every time the user exit is triggered. So put a break point in the user exit and check that the function is actually only called once per transaction.
    As the SAP help says that the calls are stored in the tables ARFCSSTATE and ARFCSDATA, it might be worth checking the entries of this table for the function calls before the transaction commit work is executed. See [here|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/8e/d05f3ce4dd3370e10000000a114084/frameset.htm]

  • How to call a RFC-enabled function module

    Hi All,
    We have 2 systems; system 1 (client 420) and system 2 (client 600).
    I just want to know that how can a RFC-enabled function module be called from one system (420) whereas the RFC-enabled functio nmodule exists in the other system (600).
    Also, as per my understanding any RFC-enabled function module is a BAPI. Please confirm.
    Please help.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Namrata

    Hi,
    RFC enabled FM can be called from anther system:
    From 420 we can call RFC FM residing in 600, through RFC destination cretaed in SM59 tcode in 420 client.In sm59, maintain the entries of destination system i.e 600.and test the connection whether it is succesful or not/ through remote logon.
    suppose in 420 client , in sm59 u have cretaed with destination DEST600 say.
    In 420, u can code as below..
    Call  'RSSDK_LOGSYS_REMOTE_CHECK' destination DEST600
    exporting
    I_QSYSTEMNAME =
    tables
    E_T_MSG =
    there exist difference between BAPI/RFC.
    BAPI always return messages / RFC doen't.
    BAPI follows ceratin naiming convetions while defineing the parameter structures ( ex BAPI_..)
    In bapi , no dialog screens can be called.
    In bapi, statements liek COmmit work/Call Transaction/Submit...shouldn't exit.
    Bapi's are implemented as FM's and are stored as methods in Business Object repository.
    another Ex for RFC
    RSAN_LOGSYS_DETERMINE
    Revert back if any issues,

  • RFC enabled function module which will be called from XI

    Hi Abappers,
    I have to send confirmation of the sales orders created by inbound Idocs ORDERS05 to XI. For this I have to use outbound Idoc ALEAUD01. But since I also need to send NETWR(from VBAK) and there is no field in this Idoc for that,
    I have to develop an RFC enabled function module for which a RFC lookup will be performed from XI. This function module has to return NETWR values for sales orders. Can anyone please tell me how to go about with this function module.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Priyanka,
    Add a parameter in <b>tables tab</b> of function module with reference to NETWR. It'll work.
    Regards,
    Younus

  • Problem with RFC call between different clients. Plesae help!

    Hi Experts,
           I have a RFC enabled function module in one SAP instance 'A' where the client is 130. I am trying to call this function module from another SAP systen 'N' where client is 220. RFC destination has been set in 'N' system.
    The RFC functin module pulls data fromm a custom table. For a given input it is puuling data in 'A' system.
    But when I call it from 'N' system with the same input it is not pulling the data.
    I feel the problem is with teh different clients.
    please help me how to resolve this.
    Is there any setting in RFC destination?
    Thanks
    Gopal

    Hi gopalkrishna,
    1. Is there any setting in RFC destination
    Ofcourse there is.
    2. The tcode is sm59.
    3. Where u have maintained in system 'N',
       we have to specify
       a) Server 'A'
    <b>   b) Client Number 130</b>
    4. So while calling from N(220),
       it will connect A(130)
       and fetch data from A(130) only.

  • Function Module with RFC for accessing tables

    Hello All
    I am programming using ABAP in Solution Manager system. I have to take data from tables(T001W and T001K) from a R/3 Server. Is there a function module which extracts data from tables via RFC ?
    Thanks
    Tharani.

    Hi,
    Check thes FM's:
    RFC_GET_TABLE_ENTRIES
    TABLE_ENTRIES_GET_VIA_RFC
    GET_TABLE_RFC
    or develop a RFC enabled FM to get the required data in R/3 and call it from your program
    example :
    data: wtab type BDSEL_STAT occurs 0 with header line.
    data: tab type BDI_ENTRY occurs 0 with header line.
    name = T001W.
    CALL FUNCTION 'TABLE_ENTRIES_GET_VIA_RFC'
    destination dest
    EXPORTING
    LANGU = SY-LANGU
    TABNAME = name
    TABLES
    SEL_TAB = wtab
    NAMETAB =
    TABENTRY = tab
    EXCEPTIONS
    INTERNAL_ERROR = 1
    TABLE_HAS_NO_FIELDS = 2
    TABLE_NOT_ACTIV = 3
    NOT_AUTHORIZED = 4
    OTHERS = 5 .
