Regarding bookmark the url

Hi
Problem Statement:
There are two systems A(www.A.com) and B(www.B.com). Both the sites are secure accessible through login. A site users has provision to navigate to B site but they cannot login directly to B site. They have to login first to A site and navigate to B site, there is a link provided to it.
When the user has login to A site and navigates to B site, the A system will do authentication and B site and opens the B site. When A site user is currently in B site and book marks (add to favourite) the url (url will be on B site). The next time when A site user opens the site from the book mark, he/ she will see the login page of B site. Actually it should show the A site login page, since the A site user can login to only A site.
What I tried was, I added an intermediate page with frame so that when user navigates to the B site, the url in the address bar remains the same as A site. The A site user can book mark only A site url.
<html>
<frameset >
<frame src="httpProcessorServlet?cmd_processForm" />
</frameset>
</html>
httpProcessorServlet - is the servlet which does the authentication to B site and redirects to B site after successful authentication.
But here I am getting authentication failure error when I use the intermediate page as mentioned above.
Please suggest how to solve this problem?
Thanks
Chandrashekar

My guess is that the httpProcessorServlet verifies that the user has logged in to the A site before it allows access to the B site. If the user has bookmarked the frame page and then accesses the bookmark without logging into site A what ever httpProcessorServlet is using to validate the user is not there which causes the authenication error.
The frame page needs to check if the user has logged in and if not send the user to the A site login page first.

• I have been looking for the bookmark fix that allows you to bookmark the url in multiple bookmark folders

I've been busy the past hour looking for the update for bookmarks so we can add a bookmark in multiple folders without having the first bookmark automatically being deleted when adding the same bookmark to a different bookmark folder.

There's no "update" for that, it's a matter of learning a different method of saving a bookmark that bypasses the feature which identifies duplicate bookmarks.
There 5 ways to save a new Bookmark in Firefox: <br />
1. {Ctrl + D} <br />
2. Right-click and select Bookmark this Page. <br />
3. Bookmarks > Bookmark this Page <br />
4. Double-click the Star that is on the right side of the Location bar. <br />
4a. (A single-click on the Star will save the new Bookmark to the Unsorted Bookmarks folder.) <br />
This last method will allow duplcates to be saved. <br />
5. Left-click and drag the website image (Favicon) in the URL bar (or on the active tab) into the Sidebar view of Bookmarks {Ctrl + B} <br />
or to the Bookmarks menu bar item (the drop-down will open) and then onto the drop-down listing of your bookmarks and folder of bookmarks (folders will open)<br />
or onto the Bookmarks Toolbar <br />- the new bookmark will be saved when you release the left mouse button
Firefox bookmarks have worked like this since Firefox 3.0 was released, back in June 2008. The Bookmarks Tags feature was introduced in Firefox 3.0 to allow the user to categorize their bookmarks more easily than saving the same bookmark into separate folders.

• The font on my browser (not web pages but where I type the URL, my bookmarks, etc.) was set to something fancy by my predecessor and I would like to change it back to something normal. Help!

The tabs for my bookmarks, the url bar, the loading messages.. all are in this fancy script and it's impossible to read quickly.

Another possibility is they added some code to a file called userChrome.css to change the fonts.
First you need to locate the profile folder, for details of how to find it see the profiles article. Once you have opened the profile folder you can close Firefox. Inside the profile folder there should be a sub folder called chrome, open that folder.
If there is a file inside there called userChrome.css, rename it to userChrome.css.old, now restart Firefox to see if the fonts are back to the default fonts.

• Cannot bookmark any URL ending in .pdf

When I go to a URL ending in .pdf, Firefox offers to Open or Save the document (FoxIt Reader). That's fine, but when I try to Bookmark the URL, all I get is "about:blank" in Bookmarks. How can I change this to allow Bookmarking and document Save/Open?

Not seen this problem. Just tested it, and sent fine.

• How do I get Mozilla to use the page name for the actual bookmark name instead of the URL when I bookmark a page

I just noticed this (in comparison to Internet Explorer): In IE, when you favorite a webpage, it uses the actual name of the webpage (for example, for this page, it would be "Ask a Question Firefox Help" as the bookmark name), but in Mozilla it uses the URL address as the bookmark name. I was wondering if it was at all possible to change my Mozilla settings in order to make it use the webpage name as the bookmark name instead of the URL address? I hope everyone understands what I'm getting at? If anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Does this happen with each bookmark?
Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• How can I display the URL bar and bookmarks bar when I have the addons page opened?

It seems counter-intuitive to me that the Firefox addons page does not have the same toolbars that other tabs have, and I have not found an option to add them back in (or an addon to fix it). Instead of being able to enter a URL directly from the addons page or click a bookmark, I must navigate away from the tab before I can go anywhere else. Additionally, it graphically looks out of place when I shift through tabs and most of the toolbars disappear for a second as I move over the addons tab.
Some other utilities that use their own pages manage to preserve the toolbar customization without removing it completely, so I'm wondering if there's a way for the addons page to do it as well.
An example of another utility that has its own page without removing the toolbars is the Download Manager Tweak addon. One of its options allows the user to open their download page as a tab, which also contains the toolbar customization of normal, browser tabs.
Thanks in advance!

Just for reference:
The solution to press a hotkey to move the text focus to a hidden navigation item (e.g. the URL bar or the search bar) was only a temporary fix, and only worked for Ctrl+K (search bar, maybe ctrl+E too but I didn't test it).
The problem didn't really bug me all too much until tonight, so I installed the Stylish script from the StackOverflow link above and the problem is solved now.

• How can I print out a hardcopy list of my bookmarks with the URLs? in English

• Since upgrading Firefox, it no longer accepts URLs in the URL bar - it works if I have a bookmark, a link or from History, but not if I enter or paste a URL.

Firefox 33.0.2 on Windows 8.1 64 bit. Since upgrading Firefox, it no longer accepts URLs in the URL bar - it works if I have a bookmark, a link or from History, but not if I enter or paste a URL and hit <enter>, in which case nothing happens at all.
I have found that issue reported for Ubuntu (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1011935?esab=a&as=aaq) but not for Windows. The solution there to change the keyboard is not feasible since it's a laptop with a built-in keyboard.
I did not have this issue with FF 28 (I finally upgraded because I was getting BSODs) and I don't have this issue with any other Browser on same platform.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings, disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).

• Bookmark a page with username/password in the URL

I can add username/password for HTTP authentication directly to the URL (e.g. http://user:[email protected]/ ) and this works fine with the browser on Firefox OS 1.3 (on a ZTE Open C). However, when bookmarking that page, the bookmark doesn't include the username/password any more and so I'll have to manually enter the username/password when visiting that site again (after clearing private data) - and unfortunately there is no password manager for Firefox OS yet...
Another way to add a bookmark appears to be via a small Javascript using the "save-bookmark", however that appears to only give me the option to add the bookmark to the Home Screen (and I am not sure if it will keep the username/password information in the bookmarked URL).
Is there any other way to add a bookmark to the browser and keep the username/password information in the URL?

Here is an example:
http://user1:[email protected]/auth-basic/
Works fine if you enter that URL in the URL bar. But when bookmarking it, it only gets bookmarked as http://test.webdav.org/auth-basic/ and so you will have to enter username and password again (after clearing cookies and session data) when opening from bookmarks.

• Export a report though the URL as a PDF with BOOKMARKS

Hi. I would like to export a report though the URL as a PDF with BOOKMARKS.
As recommended in other posts, I updated Crystal Reports XI to Release 2 and I am able to export my report as a PDF with the bookmarks within the Crystal Reports tool.
Is there a way to export my report as a PDF with the bookmarks through the URL ?
Specifically, I would like to know the syntax of the URL to include the bookmarks.
Thanks.

You need to use OpenDocument feature.
.NET:

JSP:
No.>/businessobjects/enterprise115/desktoplaunch/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?iDocID=<idcoid>&sOutputFormat=P

• Since Firefox updated yesterday, it won't respond to addresses in the url field or search terms in the search engine field. I can only go to addresses already in my bookmarks.

When I type an address into the url field the browser will not load the page...it just sits there as though waiting for me to press enter. Also it won't respond to the recently used addresses that show in the dropdown menu. It will also not respond when I try to use the search engine field (google). This started yesterday after Firefox automatically updated to version 3.5.9. I don't get an error message, just no response at all.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
See:
* Troubleshooting extensions and themes
* Troubleshooting plugins
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
This can also be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

• Until the recent update, I could bookmark a url in different folders. Now I discover, after bkmarking to folder, the bkmrk command is gone and I can only edit

I bookmark url's in different folders. With this most recent update, after bookmarking into the first folder, I discover I can only edit. Seriously? I need to store the link in entirely disparate folders for my own purposes. I have established an organized set of folders (taxonomy) flexible to my professional needs. Please revise to include the previous flexibility of bookmarking more than once.

I need to bookmark a url into different folders for my professional work. This is not tagging, it is to make sure the url is available in completely discrete folders. If anyone knows of a solution, I would very much appreciate it. Until less than a week ago, I could bookmark into multiple folders without a problem.
