Regarding Taglibs

I'm curious to know is it possible to write a Tag lib that outputs HTML along with JSP scriplet code that then gets evaluated after the Tag lib is. So in other words if I wanted to generate from the tag lib:
<Select name="test">
<Option value="a"><%= getLocalizedMessage("a") %></Option>
<Option value="b"><%= getLocalizedMessage("b") %></Option>
</Select>
and then somehow, the scriplet code also gets evaluated.
my guess is this is not possible as the scriplet code needs to be compiled into a .class file and the fact that it's dynamically generated will not trigger the .jsp to interpret it (b/c the .jsp has already been precompiled into a .class file).
am i wrong? or have any of you done something similar or know of any resources regarding info on this matter?
thanks in advance,
Collin

You are absolutely right. Meaning it can't be done precisely for the reasons you stated.

    Hi,
    I have saved rdf as JSP in Reports 9i and try to deploy in Tomcat server. Initially i got some error regarding taglib, RWException.class. But i put Oracle9IAS classes in /WEB_INF/CLASS folder so able to run JSP.
    I am Giving URL As

  • Question regarding JSTL and function calls

    Hello
    I'm quite new to JSTL and I'm having a problem accessing a function when I want to pass argument to that function.
    Im using MVC where my M (model.jsp) can be accest from my V (view.jsp) by doing ${model.(parameter/some function) }
    in my M I have a couple of getMethods() (example: getThisInfo() ) and som control methods like "isSomethingValid(arg1)"
    my question is lets say I want to access my "isSomethingValid(arg1)" and arg1 should be the value of "getThisInfo()" I thought I could do like
    ${model.somethingValid($model.thisInfo)} but it isnt working I get:
    "Unable to parse EL function ${model.somethingValid(model.thisInfo)}"
    I know that the syntax above is a mix of scriptlet and JSTL but I dont know how to or if its even possible to achieve this?
    Thanks for helping me!
    Best Regards/DS

    By default, EL can only access getters and setters on objects.
    It can not execute general methods on an object.
    You can define function libraries that call static methods
    You have to write the method as static, and then declare it in a tld.
    public boolean checkValid(Model m, Info i){ ...}
    and then you could invoke it something like
    <%@ taglib uri="myfunctionstaglib" prefix="myfunctions" %>
    ${myfunctions:checkValid(model, model.thisInfo)}

  • JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 pdk-struts taglib doesn't work

    Hi all,
    I just installed new jDev version (10.1.3.2) and I migrated all projects and setting from 10.1.3.1, but I still got a little/big problem with PDK-Struts taglib.
    In the previous jDev version portlet add-in wasn't include and to use pdk-struts integrate in the IDE I managed it as a JSP TagLib and everythings works fine.
    In new version the taglib in native and ready (it doesn't required to be registered!) to use but when I'm building the project I found and exception
    Error: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/struts/taglib/html/FormTag
    mind!!!
    - the same project in version 10.1.3.1 has no problem to build
    - I checked and seleted all the libraries required
    Anyone knows why the new jDev version doesn't work??
    please someone helpMe!!!!
    Regards
    spig@

    Yea, I had those "is not a registered namespace in TLD" errors too, but regarding Struts HTML... I had to go to the Project properties and add the library.. (It went missing during conversion)
    Its frustrating and I know how you feel. Try this, try that and still doesnt work. My advice is to remove taglibs. Close Jdev. Open Jdev add them again. It have to work. Also it might help to delete class directories. Also be aware that some libraries are kept in "\WEB-INF\lib" and during conversion they remained (those libraries were from old Jdev you have to replace them with new version)
    So, all in all keep tryng, it have to work :)
    Good luck...

  • Jdev 10.1.3.0.4 jsp 2.0 taglib support

    hi,
    i am trying to use ZK jsp tag library(zkoss.org) for a project. ZK taglib needs jsp2.0 support. i have create a web project with jsp2.0 and servlet2.4.
    then i install taglib to the project and put required libraries under web-inf/lib.
    here is a simple jsp: (just imports taglib)
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://www.zkoss.org/dsp/web/core" prefix="zkjsp-functions"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://www.zkoss.org/jsp/zul" prefix="zuljsp"%>
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"/>
    <title>Hello ZK World</title>
    </head>
    <body></body>
    </html>
    when i rebuild the project i get:
    Error(4): Invalid body-content value in TLD: SCRİPTLESS.
    Error(5): Invalid body-content value in TLD: SCRİPTLESS.
    Error(5): "http://www.zkoss.org/jsp/zul" is not a registered TLD namespace
    am i missing something?
    does jdeveloper 10g really supports jsp2.0 taglibs?
    regards, Engin.

    hi,
    jsp tag library definitions exist both at global jsp tag libs and project tag libs.
    my pc regional setting are turkish. i have changed then to english. then the error changed to:
    Error(4): Invalid body-content value in TLD: NONE.
    Error(5): Invalid body-content value in TLD: NONE.
    i guess the taglib file contains none value while its schema definition does not allow this? could it be the reason for last error? i found some none values at tld file.
    regards, engin.

    Hello,
    I have tried my best cleaning up the wiring, but it's still pretty messy. I attach the complete program.
    My problem (still not solved) is that since EA needs to be measured at very high rate, I want to write it as binary data. But I cannot make it show me the correct data afterwards, with a different program, that doesn't matter.
    I would also like to know how to convert this saved data to MatLab... any suggestions? (should I post this in a new thread?)

    Thanks for your reply but let me define it more preciesily-
                    conversion factor is already maintained as-
    Base UOM = NOS & Alt UOM=M with the relation-
    M=NOS
    but during raising MR to issue material by MB21 ,system is by default picking NOS as base UOM.
    Hence we want to open a seperate item code for the same material ,which will have M as UOM.
    But after getting new code ,it is required to transfer all stock in previous code ,maintained into NOS ,to be trasfered into new code with UOM as M.
    Pls advise ,is it possible to do so...??
    Thanks

  • Taglib URI

    Hi
    I'm developing portlets with JAVA EE 5, Tomcat 5.5.x and Spring Framework 2.0.
    JSP + JSTL are used for views.
    In my jsp pages I have a line
    <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" %>
    which work fine and I can use the core taglib and its tags.
    However, if I read the Java EE 5 manual at http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/JSPIntro9.html#wp73319 (at the end) it says that:
    The absolute URIs for the JSTL library are as follows:
    * Core: http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core
    This URI doesn't work for me. Is this a problem with Tomcat 5.5.9 or am I using wrong jar somewhere? I think jstl.jar is the one to look for - which version should I use and how do I know which version I have?
    Error:
    Servlet.service() for servlet jsp threw exception
    org.apache.jasper.JasperException: /WEB-INF/jsp/index.jsp(1,1) The absolute uri: http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core cannot be resolved in either web.xml or the jar files deployed with this application
    with best regards Fredrik

    The difference is between JSTL1.0 and JSTL1.1
    <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" %> = JSTL1.0
    <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/jsp/core" %> = JSTL1.1
    You can check the version by looking at the file Manifest.mf in the META-INF file of standard.jar or jstl.jar
    You most probably have JSTL1.0 installed.

  • Taglibs in oc4j

    Hello,
    I'm trying to build a small webapplication in JSP that is showing a table in a browser. I'm using a tag from the Business Components Data Tags library.
    So in the JSP-page I have:
    <%@ taglib uri="/webapp/DataTags.tld" prefix="jbo" %>
    <jbo:ApplicationModule id="MyAppModule" definition="MyProject.MyAppModuleSession" releasemode="Stateful" />
    and then I create a viewobject to access the data.
    The webapp runs fine in the JDeveloper environment, but when I deploy the application to a standalone OC4J (using a WAR as deployment profile) and try to run the aplication, the browser shows an error message stating that the library oracle/jbo/... can't be found.
    I copied all jars/libraries I could find to the standalone oc4j directory "applib", and I included all possible contributors to the WAR-file, but still no luck. Any clues?

  • In Jsp TagLib how can I get the Attribute value (like JavaBean) in jsp

    Dear Friends,
    TagLib how can I get the Attribute value (like JavaBean) in jsp .
    I do this thing.
    public void setPageContext(PageContext p) {
              pc = p;
    pc.setAttribute("id", new String("1") );
              pc.setAttribute("first_name",new String("Siddharth")); //,pc.SESSION_SCOPE);
              pc.setAttribute("last_name", new String("singh"));
    but in Jsp
    <td>
    <%=pageContext.getAttribute("first_name"); %>
    cause null is returing.
    Pls HELP me
    with regards
    Siddharth Singh

    First, there is no need to pass in the page context to the tag. It already is present. How you get to it depends on what type of tag:
    Using [url http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/docs/api/javax/servlet/jsp/tagext/SimpleTagSupport.html]SimpleTagSupport
    public class MyTag extends SimpleTagSupport
      public void doTag()
        PageContext pc = (PageContext)getJspContext();
        pc.setAttribute("first_name", "Siddharth");
        pc.setAttribute("last_name", "Singh");
        pc.setAttribute("id", "1");
    }Using [url http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/docs/api/javax/servlet/jsp/tagext/TagSupport.html]TagSupport or it's subclass [url http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/docs/api/javax/servlet/jsp/tagext/BodyTagSupport.html]BodyTagSupport the page context is aleady declared as an implicit object:
    public class MyTag extends TagSupport
      public void doStartTag()
        pageContext.setAttribute("first_name", "Siddharth");
        pageContext.setAttribute("last_name", "Singh");
        pageContext.setAttribute("id", "1");
    }In each case, this sort of thing should work:
    <mytags:MyTag />
    <%= pageContext.getAttribute("first_name") %>I

  • Jsp taglibs and jsp commands...

    Another question about taglibs...
    If I want to use the body in a tag together with a class which is used in the tag code.
    For example I want to do the following:
    <foo:listStudents>
    <%= student.fname %> <%= student.lname %> <%= student.id %>
    </foo:listStudents>
    Do I have to use the TagExtraInfo or? The class Student (student) is ofcourse declared and used in the tag.
    Regards Per Jonsson

    I am also on the lookout for this. i have posted many times but no one has answered my question till now. if you get to know the answer do inform me at
    [email protected]

  • Regarding history.go() in jsp

    hi,
    i have 2 jsps the first jsp contains some search creteria after giving the search creteria and click search button the results will display in the same page as a table. after the results one export option also is there if i clilck the results will export to ascii file format and dialog box will come asking open or save. after doing this operation. in the results page that is first page one column has hyperlink if i click that link i will go to next jsp containg details of that particular id. in the second page one button name back will be there if i click that button i must come back to the first page containg the previous search results. i give javascript:history.go(-1) in the button onclick event then its going to the first page but the results and the search creterial is not there, means its going to previous to previous screen. please suggest me in this regards.
    Thanks in advance

    There is a logger taglib available (on Jakarta) which works with log4j. You can make use of that.
