Regarding WAR files

Hi All,
I have developed a project for my client which involves uploading images. At present I am storing images within the project, i.e it gets stored within the build folder inside a folder named images. While working in my machine with Netbeans IDE, if I clean and rebuild the project, the images which I had uploaded before also gets deleted. I could actually store the images in a folder outside the project, but it doesn't make sense since while hosting with an external hosting server (like eukhost), I have been allocated a space and I doubt if I could store those images wherever I wish to. This was the problem I faced while developing the project within my machine. So the solution I could find out was never to clean the project.
But now while hosting, if I make slight changes to any files, I will have to deploy a new WAR file. And since my images are stored within the build folder, every time I create a new WAR file, the existing images would get deleted, since for creating the war, don't we have to clean and build the project (this is what I have read somewhere).
I hope you have understood my question. So what is the best solution for me to deploy new war files, so that the images that have been previously uploaded doesn't get deleted.
Thanks in advance.

While uploading images, I could give the absolute path, but while fetching the images, I need to give the relative path, right?What???
Let me clarify what I think that statement means:
"When I store (in a directory on the server) an image which has been uploaded, I could give the absolute path, but when I read (from that same directory) an image to be downloaded, I could not give the absolute path."
As such that's obviously not a correct statement. So I must have misinterpreted what you wrote. Perhaps I didn't understand what it means to "fetch an image".

  • Regarding reading a jar/war file

    Hi,
    I have to read a war file. below is the code...
    String Name;
    Name="D://work//webapp//meta-inf//MANIFEST.MF";
    InputStream is= null;
    JarInputStream jis = null;
    is = Class1.class.getClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(Name);
    if (getClass().getClassLoader() == null)
    is = ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader().getSystemResourceAsStream( Name );
    jis = new JarInputStream(is );
    but the InputStream is as value as null, and nullpointerexception is returned.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks

    user10196088 wrote:

    InputStream is= null;
    JarInputStream jis = null;
    is = Class1.class.getClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(Name);That's not how getResourceAsStream() works. You're giving it a full filesystem path. Read through the Javadoc.
    if (getClass().getClassLoader() == null)
    is = ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader().getSystemResourceAsStream( Name );
    }Why are you reassigning the inputstream here again (still with the wrong Name too).
    jis = new JarInputStream(is );Even if your faulty Name there did work, you'd expect a JarInputStream to read a manifest file? Which is not a jar file at all? The file extension .MF should've clued you to that already.
    Any help would be great.Well, you're pretty much doing everything wrong. Syntactically and logically.
    Also when posting code, put it between tags and it'll format nicely.

    Hi,
    For a tutorial with source on how to create and deploy a simple quickstart JEE5 JPA enterprise 3-tier application on your Oracle WebLogic 10.3 server - see the following example that uses the EclipseLink JPA provider. You should be able to transition all of your mapping information (the @ManyToOne and table/column overrides and named queries for example) using either JPA via entity annotations or native extensions if you do not want to implement EJB3.
    see...
    http://wiki.eclipse.org/EclipseLink/Examples/JPA/WebLogic_Web_Tutorial
    We also have a similar version for Tomcat 6 except the JPA entity beans run outside a container-managed JTA transaction on the web container - for reference.

  • Error auto-deploying a Web App (.WAR file)

    Hello,
    Weblogic 6.1 throws a FileNotFoundException about 10% of the time for me when
    auto-deploying a Web app. Has anyone else run into this? I searched the newsgroups
    but didn't come up with anything, so I thought I'd start here.
    My build/deploy cycle is managed by an Ant build file that creates a WAR file
    of my web application and then drops it into $WL_HOME/config/mydomain/applications.
    Occasionally when I do this, I get the error shown below. Originally I was building
    the WAR file right in the ../applications directory, so I thought that might be
    an issue. So, I started building the WAR file in a staging directory and copying
    it into ../applications. No luck. Next, I tried deleting the original WAR file
    from ../applications, and THEN copying the new one over from the staging directory.
    Still fails occasionally.
    Let's see. This is Weblogic 6.1 on Win2K. The only other thing is that my dev/build/staging
    environment is on a network share, and it's from there that I'm copying the WAR
    file to my local machine (where WL is running).
    If someone has seen and/or knows what is up with this, great. If not, it's not
    a show-stopper.
    Thanks!
    Cheers,
    David

    Michael,
    This is a problem with 6.1 SP2 also -- a very annoying error. Without auto deploy

    Hi Ramesh,
    Try to include faces jars with in your classpath.
    It talk about the " java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet"
    you check for this blog which help to say about this issue using JDev.

  • How to work with two different backend with same MI Server and war file

    Hi All,
    We have a requirement that we need to work with one Middleware for two backends. For that we had to copy MAM30 sync bo's to zsync BO'S with the name ZMAM30. Now both sync BO'S will point to different backends.
    I have a standard war file which was working well with standards sync bo's. Now to work on zsync bo's what all the changes do I have to do in the standard war file(code).
    As per my knowledge we have a file called "syncbonamelist.properties" which maps the sync bo keys. Also there is another file called "mapping.xml" file which maps the package name with BO name.
    Can any body please tell me, are there any other files needed to be change like "meRepMeta.xml", other than any existing code like java objects are also needed to be changed.
    Your help in this regard is highly appreciable.
    Regards
    Murthy

    Hi Murthy,
    I try to get my head around the question:WHY?
    The reason for my question is, that this influences the answer!
    Because of several reasons it is NOT possible to handle MAM and zMAM Bos at the SAME TIME on the SAME MACHINE in the way you describe it - and it makes no sence to do so at all! But anyway......
    Lets say you have two backends, cause you have two different areas of the company. But both want to use the same MI server - but the client should be independend.
    So you need two apps. One uses the MAM BOs and the second one uses the zMAMBos.
    If this is the case, dev should be straight forward I think and you solution should work already......... so I ask myself, what is the problem you have? Do you get an error?
    - First create a new MEREPMETA-XML with just the zMAMBOs instead of the MAM BOs.
    - Change the two files you mentioned above.
    This should be all then.
    If you have a look into the implementation for MAM001Impl for example, there you find a line like:
         private static final String SYNC_BO_NAME
              = ResourceBundle.getBundle("com.sap.mbs.mam.bo.impl.syncbonamelist").getString("MAM30_040");
    This takes the name from the properties file and maps it to the real BO. So changing the name in the property file to
    MAM30_040 = zMAM30_040
    will result in MAM uses the zMAM BOs.
    Be aware: after you place the WAR file in the WEBAPPS folder and do a restart to deploy the file, you need to do a data reset to make sure the new MEREPMETA.XML is read.
    AND: two apps! one for MAM and one for zMAM BOs. One APP is not possible! Cause if you have something like that in the properties file:
    MAM30_040 = MAM30_040
    MAM30_040 = zMAM30_040
    if will only take the first reading.
    But I think this is clear to you anyway

    Oliver

  • How to deploy a war file on Weblogic Server 7.0??

    Hello Everyone
    I am trying to deploy a servlet on Weblogic Server 7.0 as a WAR file. Can anyone of u plz tell me the steps required to do that. I am posting this question on EJb forum and not on servlets coz this is not a servlet problem, rather this is something which is related to J2EE, ie how to deploy a war file on J2EE Server.
    This is how i have done it, but this is not working---
    (1) First i created a directory structure for the web application according to J2EE Specification.
    C:\Work\
    myServletWAR\
    META-INF\
    WEB-INF\
    classes\
    HelloServlet.class
    web.xml
    i.e within work directory, there is a dic called myServletWAR which is my application directory which contains 2 sub directories viz META-INF which contains the mainifest file being generated by the jar utility. the second directory in the myServletWAR application dir is WEB-INF, which contains one file called web.xml for servlet mapping and one directory classes which contains HelloServlet.class
    (2) I used following command for creating war file from myServletWAR director(i.e from my web application's directory).
    jar -cvf TestServletWAR.war .
    This creates the TestServletWAR.war file in myServletWAR dir.
    Here is how my Servlet and web.xml looks like...
    Servlet code
    import java.io.*;
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    public class HelloServlet extends HttpServlet
    public void doPost ( HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res )
    throws IOException, ServletException
    doGet( req, res );
    public void doGet ( HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res )
    throws IOException, ServletException
    res.setContentType( "text/html" ); // Can also use "text/plain" or others.
    PrintWriter out = res.getWriter();
    // Get the requestor's IP address (See JavaDocs to see how to get other info):
    String addr = req.getRemoteAddr();
    // Create output (the response):
    out.println( "<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>HelloServlet in myServletWAR</TITLE></HEAD>" );
    out.println( "<BODY><H1 ALIGN=\"CENTER\">" );
    out.println( "Hello " + addr + ", from HelloServlet in myServletWAR!" );

    If I rebuild the war file, excluding js.jar weblogic successfull deploys the
    application and I can access the application. Question has anyone come
    across a similar problem and does any one know of a solution. I'd be most
    grateful for any help on this one.

  • Deploying a .war file on WLP 8.1

    Hi Folks,
    I have installed BEA WLP 8.1 with Service Pack 2 on a Linux RedHat 9 machine(this
    service pack comes with the installer). Created a domain using JDBC. I used "BEA's
    Oracle Driver (Type 4) version 8.1.7, 9.0.1, 9.2.0" driver to configure oracle
    database onto domain. The settings for Distributed Domain, JMS and MultiPool were
    set to 'No' so did'nt used it. After that I edited the setDomainEnv.sh file to
    add classpath for my application's jar files. Started the server. Opened up console
    http://<machine ip>:7001/console, deployed three .war files that are required
    to integrate BEA with my application module. It successfully deployed. The files
    were uloaded in domainserver/upload folder. After that I restarted the server
    and it throws following exceptions:

    Hi jmendelak,
    In the warfile i have jsp,servlets,java classes.
    In my working directory i have jsp and html files and in web-inf folder i have a folder by name classes in which i have the servlets and java classes.
    I made the war file and when i tried to deploy i was getting this error.
    I had previously deployed this war file on weblogic6.1 it was working fine.
    I have upgraded my operating sytem to Windows2000 professional from WinNT 4.0.I reinstalled the weblogic again and had set up the environment variables.
    After going through the error could you find out the reason?Is it because some seeting is missing?

  • Default data adaptor error when deploying a war file in weblogic

    Hi All,
    Newbie here with a few questions regarding the deployment of OPA 10.1. Really hoping you guys can help...
    1) I'm attempting to deploy an unexploded web-determinations.war file on WebLogic. Thanks to this forum I've got past the issues of "rulebase directory not found" etc. However, i'm now faced with an issue which I can't find any info on. Please see below.

    I've got the following entry in the application.properties file too...
    # Default XDS data adaptor file path
    #xds.file.path =data
    From what we can see we believe the code is getting a null pointer because of the following method in the WebDeterminationsServletContext class.
    public String resolveFullPath(String path)
    File f = new File(path);
    return f.isAbsolute() ? f.getAbsolutePath() : this.servletContext.getRealPath(path);
    We believe the getRealPath(path), highlighted in red, is returning null. Any ideas how we can resolve this?
    2) The second issue I'm facing is with regards the plugins.libraries property in the application.properties file. I've got the entry as
    plugin.libraries =DataAdaptor.DA;
    which should point to our customised data adaptor. However I'm getting the following error.
    4242994 [[ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '2' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'] WARN com.or

    acle.determinations.interview.engine.local.LocalInterviewEngine - Can not find class: DataAdaptor.D
    A
    3) Also, does anyone know if it's possible to deploy a web-determinations.war file containing additional internal application code? What we're attempting to do is deliver a single war file which not only holds the web determination code but also all the code for an application which wraps the OWD within it. At present this just isn't working. I'm not sure what the conflict is exactly. The only way i seem to be able to get this working is by deploying the code in two seperate war files.
    Any help on these issues would be greaty appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Taj

    (2) is being caused because your data adaptor plugin is not installed properly. The jar that contains your plugin needs to go in the WEB-INF/lib directory and you must specify the fully qualified class name in the plugin.libraries property of the application.properties file.
    If you haven't provided a custom data adaptor, Web Determinations will configure and attach the default one for use instead, which is file based. If you are deploying to WebLogic as an unxeploded war, you must configure the directory the default data directory the plugin will uses by specifying an absolute path that your instance of Web Determinations has read/write permissions to in the xds.file.path property of the application.properties file. In your case (1) is basically being caused by (2) since if the your data adaptor was loaded correctly the default one wouldn't load at all.
    As for (3) yes it's likely possible, provided you don't have library conflicts. How it's done really depends on what these additional customisations consist of.

  • Log error while loading a war file to WAs

    When trying to load a war file to WAs and selecting the class loader option "Parent last", I get an error:

    replace the commons-logging-api.jar with commons-logging-adapters.jar,i did that doing this i get the error

    Can someone suggest what should i do?

    Hi,
    Are you creating a table and loading it in Openscript??
    If so, can you show the screen shot.
    One more information , you can also change the Excel sheet into a CSV file and you can add it as a databank in the Tree view of the Openscript.

    Hi,
    1] Remove following from server.xml
    <Context path="/SEA" docBase="SEA" debug="0"/>
    2] Paste SEA.WAR (test WAR file) into /webapps of TOMCAT
    3] Start Tomcat Server - This will create SEA folder under webapps
    4] Stop server.
    5] Add following to server.xml
    <Context path="/SEA" docBase="SEA" debug="0"/>
    6] Start Tomcat Server
    7] Access the URL.
    This will work. Somehow Tomcat does not extract war file contents which are mentioned in server.xml.
    I have Apache Tomcat 4.0.3 and faced this problem. The above solution works for it.

    I checked the server.xml and put:
         <Context path="/SEA" docBase="SEA" debug="0"/>
    I restarted TOMCAT and tried to execute the file:
         http://localhost:8080/SEA/index.jsp
    But I got error message:
    Apache Tomcat/4.0.3 - HTTP Status 404 -
    /SEA/index.jsp
    What was happenning?
    Anyone can help me?
    Thank you.

    Where and how do you deploy the war file?
    I normally deploy EAR files.
