    Hi All,
    Let me clarify my dought........today i have gone through the concept of  "Exporting Context Data Using the Webdynpro Binary cache" in SAP Online Help.
    From the SAP Online Help pdf document, i have found that, the context node data has been converted first in to XML file,after that file had been stored in the web dynpor binary cache...bla....bla.........
    Here my qtn is why they had converted context node data into XML file. With out doing that can not we export context node data to excel file..?

    Hi Sesshanna,
    it is not neccessary to do that but xml has the advantage, that it can be easily transformed into every output format that might occur in later project stages.
    If it's simply about blowing out some Excel, I suggest using an OSS library such as jexcelAPI or Jakarta POI and building the Excel how you need it.

  • How to convert excel file into xml file

    Friends
    Will you please help me out becz i am daily getting excel file from SAP which i have to translate into the xml file.
    Waiting for ur reply.
    Hitesh

    Depends on how your excel document looks like and what you wish to accomplish.
    First, save the excel file as a tab or comma separated file.
    Create a program that reads the lines of the file, and just print the cell content into the right xml tags.
    E.g.
    Street Name
    Main st 3 Wild Bill
    Main st 2 Crazy Bill
    could be translated into an xml:
    <Adress>
    <Street>Main st 3</Street>
    <Name>Wild Bill</Name>
    </Adress>
    <Adress>
    <Street>Main st 2</Street>
    <Name>Crazy Bill</Name>
    </Adress>
    or:
    <header>
    <col>Street</col>
    <col>Name</col>
    </header>
    <row>
    <col>Main st 3</col>
    <col>Wild Bill</col>
    </row>
    <row>
    <col>Main st 2</col>
    <col>Crazy Bill</col>
    </row>
    etc
    E.g. using the code
    String[] lineColumns=...
    while(lineColumns!=null){
      println("<row>");
      for(int i=0; i<lineColumns.length; i++){
        println("<col>"+lineColumns[i]+"</col>");
      println("</row>");

  • Export XML data into multiple worksheet of an Excel file..using FO processr

    Hi,
    I need to export XML data into Excel output, the data should flow into multiple worksheet of the Excel file.
    Let me know if this can be done using XML publisher. If yes, please provide me the steps to do the same.
    Could not able to achieve this through by the below process:
    (1)     Created a RTF (which has single excel table structure).
    (2)     Generated the XSL file using XSL-FO Style Sheet.
    (3)     Passed the XSL file and XML
    which exported the data into an Excel (single worksheet) format.
    Please let me know, how this can be exported into multiple worksheets.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Dhamodaran VJ.

    Hi Dhamodaran ,
    pass me the template you created and XML. "Created a RTF (which has single excel table structure)."

  • How can I convert an Excel file to XML file

    The problem is I am given an Excel file and have been asked to convert it to an XML file using Java.Can any body highlight any clue regarding this? My thanks in advance.

    Gotta use your own imagination.
    I'd have a root tag <excel-spreadsheet>. Under that I'd have a <worksheet> tag for each worksheet. Under that I'd have a <row> tag for each row. Each <row> tag would have <column> tags, with "name" attribute, and the spreadsheet entry as the value.
    The problem is that you can't really map everything that will go into a spreadsheet into this stream (e.g., graphs, stray cells, etc.) It maps well to tables, but that's it.

  • How to create an Excel file from XML in the Receiver File Adapter Comm Ch

    How do I create an Excel file from XML in the Receiver File Adapter Communication Channel? I have my mapping done and I am outputting the file as a comma delimited csv file. However, the target can only process an Excel file (.xls). How can I generate an Excel in XI?
    I saw this blog, but I don't know how to create a XSLT transformation.
    /people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/12/10/xi-generating-excel-files-without-the-java-nor-the-conversion-agent-not-possible
    Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Here are the steps I took to create an XSLT transformation in XI 3.0:
    1. I created my source and target XSDs using XMLSpy.
    2. I created the XSLT mapping from source to target in XMLSpy (referencing the souce XSD schema).
    3. I created another XSLT mapping to format the target into Excel XML.
    4. Import the source and target XSDs in the IR's External Definitions
    5. Zip each XSLT mapping (.xls) and import it into the IR's Imported Archives
    6. Reference the XSL mappings in the Interface Mapping

  • Upload data from multiple worksheets of excel file into SAP by using MIME?

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to getting the data from a multiple worksheet excel file by usin the MIME Repository.
    First of all i realizied it like [here|http://abap-explorer.blogspot.com/2008/12/upload-data-from-multiple-worksheets-of.html] in a normal ABAP Report.
    By trying to transfer the code to a WebDynpro Component, i get problems.
    With this part of code, because ActiveX is not allowed in our Webbrowser. So i have to find another solution to get the data from the excel file.
    CALL METHOD c_oi_container_control_creator=>get_container_control
    IMPORTING
    control = iref_control
    error   = iref_error
    I tried to rebuild this solution in webdynpro. But it dont works.
    So my next step was trying to Read the Excel sheet directly from MIME by getting the Content (XString).
    But there is no useful information Just a mix out of '######' and other symbols.
    By converting it into String the same problem.
    Maybe someone has an idea how to rebuild [this code|http://abap-explorer.blogspot.com/2008/12/upload-data-from-multiple-worksheets-of.html] in Webdynpro that it works correctly.
    Currently Im Using the Fileupload UI Element. All Works fine. I can Upload the Excel file to MIME Repository and i can open it from there.
    But i cant get the same clear informationen from the file, to write it later in a Database, like before without webdynpro.
    i hope someone can help me.
    Edited by: Sascha Baumann on Apr 20, 2009 4:28 PM

    You can't read the native binary Excel Format in server side ABAP.  The functions and classes that did this in Classic Dynpro used OLE Automation via the SAPGUI Control Framework to remotely control Excel to read the data.  Because in the browser you have no connection to the SAPGUI or are sandboxed inside the browser; the same functionality is not possible.
    I would suggest that you look into saving the Excel file as a open, text format.  You might be able to use XML (although the Excel XML format can be complex) to support multiple sheets. You would have to build the logic yourself (using XSLT or the iXML parser) to process the XML format back into ABAP data.

    Hi,
    can you describe what is happening when you run the ODI procedure described below:
    - Does the procedure fail with an error, if yes, which error(full details)?
    - Does the procedure pass but no xslx file is been created?
    - Does the procedure pass and an xslx file is been created, but Excel can't read it? If yes, what is the structure of the xslx file when read in an editor?
    What I can see from your code below is that you have choosen -FILE_FORMAT=VARIABLE, but the XSLX format is supposed to be XML.

  • How to convert Xls file into Xml file

    Hi,
    I am trying to convert Xls file into Xml  but there  is no any direct procedure for it
    Pls help me out to convert Xls file into Xml file
    Thanks
    Anushree

    you will require to write a module in your file adapter for the same.
    ref: /people/sap.user72/blog/2005/07/04/read-excel-instead-of-xml-through-fileadapter as mentioned in the earlier post.
    Else you can also use Conversion Agent to read the same.

  • Translation of excel file to an xml file

    hello
    does any one know how do I translate an Excel File to enter to the XI as XML file?
    (XI 3.0 version, SP21)
    Thanks
    Kfir

    Module acts as a special function that is used by an Adapter to provide the additional functionality to the Adapter.
    By using File Adapter we can only read .xml files and .txt files (using File Content Conversion).
    If we want to read an excel sheet, it is not possible by using the normal File Adapter.
    For this purpose we are developing a module & Deploying it into the sap j2ee server and we will specify the module name in module tab of Communication channel.
    Then this module will read excel sheet and convert that into an xml format which XI can understand.
    Thanks.

  • Parsing .xls(excel) file and creating a .xdat(xml) file out of it

    Hi All,
    need some tips on a task i am trying accomplish for some days now.
    I have a excel file, in which I have 10 columns with 40-50 rows of data.
    I have a xml structure in mind, in which I want to put all these data from excel file. But till now I haven't understood exactly how I should go about it step by step.
    Should I first parse the excel file and save each row (with the column names) in a list, and then read through each row and insert them in the xml format i have planned?
    And how do I open a .xdat data and tell my program to insert the data in the sequence of sets I want them to be saved?
    I know it's a pretty newbie question ... but will appreciate any help and tips provided. Would help me a lot to learn this new type of task.
    Thank you.
    with best regards,
    Newbie

    If you are using JAXB you unmarshall to read the xml. Then you marshall to write.
    So what you do is:
    1) Unmarshall your xml document. This means you now have your xml as Java objects.
    2) Read through the Java objects using loops, etc making any changes to the values. I think here you want to add values, so you can set your values
    3) Now in memory you have your new xml thats been updated, so you can marshall it (save it)
    I'd recommend a JAXB tutorial. But the basic steps are:
    1) Create an xml file and insure its valid
    2) Use a free online utility (http://www.hitsw.com/xml_utilites/) to convert the xml into an xml schema (xsd)
    3) Use xjc from the jaxb jar and run it over the xml schema (the command i use is xjc myxmlfile.xsd -p com.example
    4) Step 3 above creates all the java classes for you to use so then you can unmarshall. Process. Then marshall
    This is just a high level. I might have missed something, but the jaxb tutorial is really good and that's how I learned the process.

  • Import Excel file into SQL, using bulk copy - date issues

    Hello. I have a VB project where I need to import multiple excel files with lots of rows and columns into SQL 2012. Currently the import is set up, using OleDbConnection and insert commands and it takes up to 10 minutes to process all the spreadsheets.
    I'm trying to switch the code to use SQLBulkCopy, but experienced issues with dates columns. Some rows have Null dates and those are interpreted as strings and won't import into SQL tables. Is there a way to format the column prior to import programmatically?
    Any advice is appreciated.
    Note -
    If I add column mapping and exclude all dates columns - import works fine. All excel files have date fields, excel files are reports from other vendor and change on weekly bases, manual formatting of the excel files prior to import are out of the question...
    The code is just basic:
    Public Sub ImportFormExcelSample()
    Dim ExcelConnection As New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=C:\MyExcelSpreadsheet.xlsx;Extended Properties=""Excel 12.0 Xml;HDR=Yes""")
    ExcelConnection.Open()
    Dim expr As String = "SELECT * FROM [Sheet1$]"
    Dim objCmdSelect As OleDbCommand = New OleDbCommand(expr, ExcelConnection)
    Dim objDR As OleDbDataReader
    Dim SQLconn As New SqlConnection()
    Dim ConnString As String = "Data Source=MMSQL1;Initial Catalog=DbName; User Id=UserName; Password=password;"
    SQLconn.ConnectionString = ConnString
    SQLconn.Open()
    Using bulkCopy As SqlBulkCopy = New SqlBulkCopy(SQLconn)
    bulkCopy.DestinationTableName = "TableToWriteToInSQLSERVER"
    Try
    objDR = objCmdSelect.ExecuteReader
    bulkCopy.WriteToServer(objDR)
    objDR.Close()
    SQLconn.Close()
    Catch ex As Exception
    MsgBox(ex.ToString)
    End Try
    End Using
    End Sub
    The error I get is System.InvalidOperatiomException: The given value of type String from the data source cannot be converted to type date of the specified target column. System.FormatException: Failed to convert parameter value from String to a DateTime...
    Thank you!

    Hi Alla,
    This issue might be caused because the field contains a NULL value, but the date/time columns in your table does not allow NULL values. Furthermore, please aslo take a look at "Data Type Issues" session in the article below:
