Regular Expressions/Wildcards in IronPort ESA Recipient Accept Table

Is it possible to define Recipient Accept Table entries using Regular Expressions or wildcards ?
For example, given a very large email address space in the format [email protected], where x ∈ [0..9], for which one needs to bypass LDAP Accept, could RAT entries be added like: abc-1[0-9]{9}@domain.com or at least abc-1*@domain.com or it's just literals ?
Thanks. :)

No. It will not read the entry as a regex for the RAT.
The following formats are allowed:
Hostnames such as "example.com", "[1.2.3.4]", "[2001:420:80:1::5]"
Partial hostnames such as ".example.com"
Usernames such as "postmaster@"
Full email addresses such as "[email protected]", "joe@[1.2.3.4]" or "joe@[ipv6:2001:420:80:1::5]"
Separate multiple addresses with commas.

• CharAt in a keystroke event using regular expression

I'm working on a canadian postal code field. I'm using a regular expression to validate the value.
//accepts "A9A 9A9", "A9A9A9" or "" as valid entries excluding letters D, F, I, O, Q, U and W as well as Z as the first digit.
var re = /^[ABCEGHJKLMNPRSTVXY]\d[ABCEGHJKLMNPRSTVWXYZ]( )?\d[ABCEGHJKLMNPRSTVWXYZ]\d$|^$/i;
if(re.test(event.value) == false){
app.alert("Code postal invalide", 0, 0,"CODE POSTAL");
event.value = "";
I also added a keystroke event to prescan every digit and toUpperCase() them.
//accepts letters, numbers, backspace or spaces
var re = /[ABCEGHJKLMNPRSTVWXYZ]|\d|^$|\s/i;
if (!event.willCommit){
if(re.test(event.change) == false){
event.rc = false;
else{
event.change = event.change.toUpperCase();
I want to Replicate the behavior of an arbitrary mask where I can force a character to appear at a specific position. In this example, instead of letting the user decide wether he adds a "space" or not between the two parts of the code, I want to:
1-Remove "\s" in the keystroke regexp so the user cannot use "space";
2-Replace "( )?" for "( )" in the validation regexp;
3-Force a space at charAt(3).
Is it possible to have it appear while the user is still typing or is my only option to change the value once committed or as a cutom format script?
In the same manner, is it possible to specify a different regexp keystroke depending on the position of each character?
charAt(0), charAt(2), charAt(5) would be letters
charAt(1), charAt(6), charAt(7), would be numbers
charAt(3), would automatically add a "space"
in the end, I want the same behavior as an arbitrary mask without the annoying alert when entering a wrong digit.

The entire string validation is different from the keystroke validation. The keystroke validation can check each keystroke as it is typed while the string validation can only process the entire string at one time.
You need to break your RegExp to describe the requirement for each character. You can even specify the possible number of repetitions of the pattern.
A discussion on to create keystroke validations would be far too long for a post in a forum.

• REGULAR EXPRESSION FIND PLEASE ;(

HI FORM
I have the following documents with the content
doc1 = "ELECTRONICS DIGITAL CAMERA"
doc2 = "ELECTRONICS DIGITAL CAMERA ACCESSIORIES"
doc3 = "ELECTRONICS DIGITAL CAMERA OPTICS "
Using regexpression I would like to get only 2nd document ONLY which has the content
"ELECTRONICS DIGITAL CAMERA ACCESSIORIES"
How to Achieve this
Karthik

You can try this one: ((digital|camera|accessories)[\\s]*)+
Explainations:
(digital|camera|accessories) - this group matches any of the 3 words
[\\s] matches a space character [\\s]* matches any number of spaces
((digital|camera|accessories)[\\s]*) - this group matches any of the 3 words, optionnally followed by spaces
((digital|camera|accessories)[\\s]*)+ - matches any sequence of 3 words, seperated by spaces
NOTES:
- this regular expression matches "digitalcameraaccessories" because the * operator accepts 0 occurences.
If you want to avoid this situation, change the * to a+, but you will have to append a space to the searched string
in order to make the pattern match.
- this regular expression will also match "digital digital camera" because there is no unicity checking.
Hope this helped,
Regards.

• Field validation regular expression to accept only numbers

Hello.
I would like to have a field validation regular expression to accept only numbers - no characters. The list of pre-packaged regular expressions that are included with ApEx does not contain this and I am not a very good regular expression writer. Can anyone help?
Thanks!
Boris

Under the Regular Expression validation all you need to have is:
^[[:digit:]]$For the email address it just depends how detailed you want it:
^((?>[a-zA-Z\d!#$%&'*+\-/=?^_`{|}~]+\x20*|"((?=[\x01-\x7f])[^"\\]|\\[\x01-\x7f])*"\x20*)*(?<angle><))?((?!\.)(?>\.?[a-zA-Z\d!#$%&'*+\-/=?^_`{|}~]+)+|"((?=[\x01-\x7f])[^"\\]|\\[\x01-\x7f])*")@(((?!-)[a-zA-Z\d\-]+(?<!-)\.)+[a-zA-Z]{2,}|\[(((?(?<!\[)\.)(25[0-5]|2[0-4]\d|[01]?\d?\d)){4}|[a-zA-Z\d\-]*[a-zA-Z\d]:((?=[\x01-\x7f])[^\\\[\]]|\\[\x01-\x7f])+)\])(?(angle)>)$or...
[\w-]+@([\w-]+\.)+[\w-]+Hope these help

• Regular expression on words with % wildcard

Hi,
I've got some processing working using regular expression where I need to process words e.g.
regexp_replace('word1 word2','(\w+)','myprefix{\1}') - results in - 'myprefixword1 myprefixword2'
However, if I'm presented with this; '%word0 word1% wo%d2 word3', then I need to treat % as special case and leave the word as is, so result here would be; - '%word0 word1% wo%d2 myprefixword3', is this achievable using regexp ?

And for those who don't know, I guess we should explain why we're having to expand single spaces to double spaces...
(I'll use the "¬" character to represent spaces to make it clearer to see)
If we have a string such as
word1¬word2¬word3and we want to identify the words in the string (without using any special regexp word identifier) then we are going to use the spaces to identify the start and end of words. To make life easy, we manually put a space at the start and end of the string so we can say that each word in the string will have a space before and after it regardless of where it is in the string...
¬word1¬word2¬word3¬However, when we specify what we want to search for we are going to say we want a space, followed by a number of characters (not spaces), followed by a space...
¬[^¬]*¬So, ideally, you'd expect it to look through the string and say
¬word1¬word2¬word3¬
\_____/... found word1
¬word1¬word2¬word3¬
\_____/... found word2
¬word1¬word2¬word3¬
\_____/... found word3
Unfortunately, there is a problem. Once the first word has been found the pointer for searching the rest of the string is located on the next character after the match i.e.
¬word1¬word2¬word3¬
^So it won't be able to pick out word2 and will only get to word3. Let's see it in action...
SQL> ed
Wrote file afiedt.buf
1 with t as (select ' word1 word2 word3 ' as txt from dual)
2 --
3 select regexp_replace(txt, ' [^ ]* ', 'xxxxx') as txt
4* from t
SQL> /
TXT
xxxxxword2xxxxx
SQL>In order to deal with this, if we replace the single spaces with double spaces (not required at the start and end) our string looks like...
¬word1¬¬word2¬¬word3¬So as it searches it finds word1 as a match and then the pointer in the string is located...
¬word1¬¬word2¬¬word3¬
^... so the next match for the pattern of space-characters-space is word2 and then the pointer is located...
¬word1¬¬word2¬¬word3¬
^... ready to find word 3. Example...
SQL> ed
Wrote file afiedt.buf
1 with t as (select ' word1 word2 word3 ' as txt from dual)
2 --
3 select regexp_replace(txt, ' [^ ]* ', 'xxxxx') as txt
4* from t
SQL> /
TXT
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
SQL>Hopefully that's a little clearer. You just have to remember the "pointer" principle and the fact that once a match is found it is located on the character after the match.

• Regular Expression Find and Replace with Wildcards

Hi!
For the world of me, I can't figure out the right way to do this.
I basically have a list of last names, first names. I want the last name to have a different css style than the first name.
So this is what I have now:
AAGAARD, TODD, S.
AAMOT, KARI,
AARON, MARJORIE, C.
and this is what I need to have:
AAGAARD , TODD, S.
AAMOT , KARI,
AARON , MARJORIE, C.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Make a backup first.
In the Find field use:
(\w+),\s+([^<]+)<\/b>\s*
In the Replace field use:
$1 $2
Select Use regular expression. Light the blue touch paper, and click Replace All.

• Need help in unix regular expressions

Hi All,
I'm new to shell scripting. Please help me in achieving this
I am trying to a find regular expression that need to pick a file with begin with the below format and mask variable is called in xml file.
currently the script accepts:
mask="CLIENT_ID+'_ADHSUITE_IN_'+date2str(now,'MMddyy','US/Eastern')+'.txt'"
But it should accept in the below format
2595_ADHSUITE_IN_ANNWEL_030309_2009-02-10_15-12-46-000_648.TXT715.outpgp_out
where CLIENT_ID=2595. How to place wild card character '*' in the below to accept file in the above format. here is what i made changes.
mask="CLIENT_ID+'_ADHSUITE_IN_'*+date2str(now,'MMddyy','US/Eastern')*+'.TXT'*+'.outpgp_out'"
Please help.
Thanks

I believe your statement is being passed over twice:
First Pass: (This is done by something like javascript)
CLIENT_ID+'_ADHSUITE_IN_'+'.*'+date2str(now,'MMddyy','US/Eastern')+'.*'+'.TXT'+'.*'+'.outpgp_out'In this pass the variables and functions that are enclosed in literals are processed:
(1) CLIENT_ID is replaced by 2595 or whatever is current value is:
(2) date2str(now,'MMddyy','US/Eastern') gets replaced by 040609 (if the current time now is 4th april 2009).
So at the end of this first pass we have a string:
2595_ADHSUITE_IN_.\*040609.\*.TXT.*.outpgp_outThis string at the end of the first pass is a Posix basic regular expression. (ref: [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regular_expression] ) accessed at time of post).
This is the string I put in the Regular Expression text box on [http://www.fileformat.info/tool/regex.htm]
and it matches "2595_ADHSUITE_IN_ANNWEL_040609_2009-01-27_17-02-28-000_631.TXT715.outpgp_out" for me (though I prefer my egrep test).
I hope this is somewhat clearer. Remember I have very little information about your system/application and I make big guesses.
NB: (I should thank Frits earlier for pointing my sloppiness between wildcards (for eg unix shell filename expansion) and regular expressions).
For the second pass this used to compared other strings to see

• Regular expression in url-pattern in web.xml

hi,
could any tell me the is web.xml accepts regexp(except wild card) in it's url-pattern attribute. I want to put regular expression (except wildcard, i know it supports) as [a-zA-Z]+ like in url-pattern in servlet-mapping. I tried this :
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>AppDnldMain</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/[a-zA-Z]+/?</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
But it dint work.. I dont know whether i processed in right way. Any suggestion are most welcome..

No it does not accept wild card.
Servlet specification section SRV.11.2
In theWeb application deployment descriptor, the following syntax is used to define
mappings:
• A string beginning with a ‘/’ character and ending with a ‘/*’ suffix is used
for path mapping.
• A string beginning with a ‘*.’ prefix is used as an extension mapping.
• A string containing only the ’/’ character indicates the "default" servlet of
the application. In this case the servlet path is the request URI minus the context
path and the path info is null.
• All other strings are used for exact matches only.
If you want regex matching, you can match all urls to a single servlet, and then use request.getRequestURI and do regex on that in your code.

• Unix Log Monitoring regular expression not picking up alerts

Hi,
We are moving our unix monitoring to SCOM 2012 SP1 rollup 4.
What I have got working is indvidual alert logging of Unix Log alerts by exporting the MP and changing the <IndividualAlerts> value to true and removing the suppression xml section then reimporting the MP.
What I am trying to do is use the regular expression to peform the suppression of specific event (such as event codes).
The expression is:
((?i:warning)(?!(.*1222)|(.*1001)))
ie Search the log for "warning" (not case sensitive) then check if events 1222 or 1001 exist if so return no match, if they dont exist then return true.
I use the built in test function in SCOM when creating the rule and the tests come back as expected but when I inject test lines into the unix log, no alerts get generted.
I suspect it could be the syntax not being accepted on the system (its running RedHat 6 )
I have tested this with regex tools and works.
When I try and test it on the server i get:
[root@bld02 ~]# grep ((?i:Warning)(?!(.*1222)|(.*1001))) /var/log/messages
-bash: !: event not found
[root@bld02 ~]# tail /var/log/messages
Nov 13 15:07:26 bld02 root: SCOM Test Warning Event ID 1001 Round 18
Nov 13 15:07:29 bld02 root: SCOM Test Warning Event ID 1000 Round 18
Nov 13 15:07:35 bld02 root: SCOM Test Warning Event ID 1002 Round 18
So I am expecting 2 alerts to be generated.
SCOM tests to show expression working:
Test 1 Matching
Test 2 to exclude
Need some help with this, Thankyou in advance :)

Hello,
Here's an example of modifying the MP to exclude particular events. Firstly, I created a log file rule using the MP template that is fairly inclusive - matching the string Warning (with either a lower or upper case W).
I then exported the MP, and modified the rule. I set the IndividualAlerts = true and removed the AlertSuppression element, so that every matched line will fire a unique alert. You don't have to remove the AlertSuppression, but you should use
Individual alerts so that the exclusion logic doesn't exclude concurrent events that you actually want to match.
Implementing the exclusion logic involves the addition of a System.ExpressionFilter definition in the rule. This will use a conditional evaluation of the //row element of the data item. Here's an example of a dataitem matching an individual row:

You can also have multiple Expressions in the ExpressionFilter joined by OR or AND operators.
Also, if you are comfortable with the MP authoring, you can just skip the step of creating the rules in the MP template and just author your own MP with the VSAE tool:

• Regular expression does not work in IE

Hi,
I'm having a regular expression which should check the content of an inputText field: it should contain a number, a character and the size should be at least 6. It's working when I test it in FireFox but it always fails to succeed in IE:
<af:inputText>
<af:validateRegExp pattern="^(?=.*[a-zA-Z])(?=.*[0-9])[a-zA-Z0-9]{6,24}$"

</af:inputText>How comes it does not work in IE (6.0)?
JDeveloper 10.1.3.3
Thanks in advance,
Koen Verhulst

hi Koen
The web page you refer to ...
http://www.fileformat.info/tool/regex.htm
... seems to be doing server side Java regular expressions (and as such will behave the same in both FF and IE).
The af:validateRegExp component you want to use does client side evaluation of the regular expression, using scripting, hence the apparent difference between FF and IE.
There is also this web page ...
http://www.regular-expressions.info/javascriptexample.html
... that seems to behave similar to the markup and scripting resulting from the af:validateRegExp component.
Besides the value "2abcdef" there seem to be others that are accepted by IE for the regular expression "^(?=.*[a-zA-Z])(?=.*[0-9])[a-zA-Z0-9]{6,24}$", values like these:
"a2abcdef", "a2abcde", "abcdef2abcde", "2a3cdef", "2a34567"
Although these values are not accepted by IE (but are accepted in FF):
"2abcde", "23bcdef"
success

• Using regular expressions in content dictionaries

I need to create a content dictionary containing regular expressions. I also need to use the "\" to escape some characters that would otherwise be regex meta-characters. When using a regex in a message filter, the "\" must be doubled because of parsing issues. This is clearly documented in the manual. What isn't documented is whether this must be done when the regex is within a content dictionary.
Here's an example:
if (mail-from == "@bad-domain\\.com$") { drop(); }
I want to change this filter to:
if (mail-from-dictionary-match("bad-domains")) { drop(); }
So what do I put in the content dictionary, "@bad-domain\.com$" or "@bad-domain\\.com$"?
Thanks,

You should use this:
"@bad-domain\.com$"
The above tells the system to deference the "." (any character) to mean a literal period.
If you used this,
@bad-domain\\.com$
What the system would match is "@bad-domain\.com", because the first backslash would dereference the second backslash, to be taken literally. So, the double backslashes is the wrong format.
The only reason you see it in the final results when you've committed changes is that the system adds the backslash for you so that there's no error when it gets compiled.
Also, you could have left the single backslash out completely too and it would probably work.
"@bad-domain.com$"
If you sed that as your pattern in the dictionary, it would match against these:
@bad-domain.com
@bad-domainncom
@bad-domain1com
@bad-domain&com
basically, the "." means any character. But to be precise, you should only add one backslash in front of special characters. Here is a list of special characters:
| ( ) [ { ^ $ * + ? .
For a detailed explanation about special characters and how to use them, please see the Advanced User Guide.

• How can I remove all content between two tags using Find/Replace regular expressions?

This one is driving me bonkers... I'm relatively new to regular expressions, but I'm trying to get Dreamweaver to remove all content between two tags in an XML document. For example, let's say I have the following XML:
<custom>

Some text

Some more text

</custom>
I'd like to do a Find/Replace that produces:
<custom>
</custom>
In essence, I'd like to strip all of the content between two tags. Ideally, I'd like to know how to strip the CDATA content as well, to return the following:
<custom>

</custom>
I'd much appreciate any suggestions on accomplishing this.
Many thanks!

Thanks much for your response. I found David's article to be a little thin with respect to examples using quantifiers in coordination with the wildcard metacharacters; however, I was able to cobble together a working expression through trial and error using the information he presented. For posterity, here’s the solution:
Find:
<custom>[\d\D]*?</custom>
Replace:
<custom>

</custom>
I believe this literally translates to:
[] = find anything in this range/character class
\d = find any digit character (i.e. any number)
\D = find any non-digit character (i.e. anything except numbers)
*? = match zero or more times, but as few times as possible (i.e. match multiple characters per instance, but only match one instance at a time, or none at all)
I’m still not sure how to effectively utilize the . wildcard. For example, the following expression will not find content that ends with a number:
<custom>.*?[\D]*?</ custom >
I'm presuming this is because numbers aren't included in the \D metacharacter; however, shouldn't numbers be picked up by the .*? expression?

• Is there a way to give two different regular expressions in a Grep command?

I am trying to search message logs from CLI. My search query which involves a regular expression is giving thousands of results. We need to further filter the results using another regular expression. Please let me know if we can put two regular expressions in the search query.
Below is how I use grep command: Can I use multiple regular expression separated by a "|" (pipe) symbol
Enter the regular expression to grep.
[]> MID 123456

No - unfortunately - from the CLI on the ESA/SMA - the 'grep' command is not as intuitive as the unix/linux 'grep'. You would need to push logs off appliance, and then take advantage of an external OS in order to parse through the logs as definitively needed.

• Regular Expression in ADF

I have a requirement to validate one UI field with the following pattern. Can some one advise me about creating the correct pattern for the following requirement.
It can have maximum of 8 characters. It can have only numbers, no - or [A-Z]. If there is -, then it should be only after 5th character. The last two characters must be alphabets.
Example: 12, 1234, 12345, 78696, 12345-AB (Any number between 1 to 99999 and optional -[A-Z] )
Can you please suggest regular expression for the above pattern.
Thanks and Regards,
S R Prasad

Hi Hyangelo,
I have tried the following regular expression suggested by you. I removed the end / as it is not accepting any valid pattern.
<af:validateRegExp pattern="^[0-9]{0,5}(\1[0-9]{5}-[A-Z]{2}){0,1}$" messageDetailNoMatch="Invalid CPt Code..." />
Thanks and Regards,
