Reinstall Apache

Hi,
I updated a library (libpng) and now Apache is complaining that it can't find it. I used homebrew to install the latest ImageMagick (required by a Ruby Gem to code in Ruby). It seems to have installed a more recent version of libpng and now Apache crashes.
The error is:
05/04/11 06:43:29 org.apache.httpd[90200] httpd: Syntax error on line 115 of /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Cannot load /opt/local/apache2/modules/libphp5.so into server: dlopen(/opt/local/apache2/modules/libphp5.so, 10): Library not loaded: /opt/local/lib/libpng12.0.dylib\n Referenced from: /opt/local/apache2/modules/libphp5.so\n Reason: image not found
Do you have any idea of how to revert back to the original version or, if possible, update Apache?
Thanks in advance,
Juan

No, it isn't working.
I've checked php.ini and it has no changes.
In my /opt/local/lib dir I've the libpng14 library files, not the libpng12. Do you know if the standard one is libpng12?
If so, Apache httpd.config file points to the old library, so it's seems that somehow this time installing the ImageMagick library -and it's dependencies- updated that library, leaving Apache pointing to the old one.
I've already tried to get the previous version from the backup and Apache then complains about a different library. I guess the chain of dependencies included several of them.
I really think that a way to update Apache could fix this. I just didn't find any Apache package in homebrew.

  • Fixing/Reinstalling Apache and localhost?

    Hi Guys,
    Trying to set up a webserver at localhost, but I'm having some issues. I did everything in the Sharing pane of System Preferences that I should have, but http://localhost/, http://localhost/~username, and my root IP still comes up with a "Failed To Connect" page load error in the browser. I also tried giving what Apple's support article said to do (Article ID: 306884), but I still have the same problem. Is there something wrong with Apache? Should I do a reinstall? How does one reinstall Apache?
    For some reason everything worked right away on the Mac Pro that I have at work, but my Macbook Pro is being a little jerk about it
    I'm kind of a newbie to all this UNIX web server stuff, so some idiot-proof layman speak might be in order here.
    Any input would be great guys! Thanks!

  • Reinstalling Apache?

    Some files were accidently moved/deleted. Is there a way to reinstall Apache without having to reinstall my OS?

    We don't know what files are included in "some files," which makes it difficult - if not impossible - to answer your question.
    You might attempt to extract the items from the install DVD, perhaps using Pacifist.
    You'll also want to apply the combo updater for the version you're currently at, to then update any possible items you've restored.
    Proceed at your own risk with this, for sure

  • Reinstall/repair Apache Installation from base system

    Hi,
    I use Snow Leopard and I was not aware of the fact that php and apache2 comes with the base installation. I delete now some .so files like /usr/libexec/apache/modauthnfile.so, so I'm not able to start apache anymore.
    How can I reinstall apache so that the deleted files will be restored?
    Thanks for help,
    Matthias

    Hello,
    Option 3 (advanced): Use the command line and the fsck_hfs -l command.
    Start up your computer and log in as an administrator.
    Open Terminal (/Applications/Utilities).
    At the prompt, type the following command and then press Return to determine your filesytem ID:
    df -hl
    Look for some lines of text that look like this:
    Filesystem     Size   Used  Avail Capacity  Mounted on
    /dev/disk0s3    37G    20G    17G    55%    /
    /dev/disk0s5    37G    37G   641M    98%    /Volumes/Storage
    Make a note of the first "disk" name that appears after /dev/, such as "disk0s3." This is your filesystem ID for your startup volume.
    At the prompt, type the following command and then press Return:
    df -hl
    Then type the following command, where "disk0s3" is your filesystem ID you noted in step 4, then press Return:
    sudo fsck_hfs -l /dev/disk0s3
    When prompted, enter your admin password, then press Return to begin the verification.
    You should see messages like these during the disk check:
    ** /dev/rdisk0s3 (NO WRITE)
    ** Root file system
    ** Checking HFS Plus volume.
    ** Checking Extents Overflow file.
    ** Checking Catalog file.
    ** Checking multi-linked files.
    ** Checking Catalog hierarchy.
    ** Checking Extended Attributes file.
    ** Checking volume bitmap.

  • After Apache Reinstall, No Auto Start

    A month ago, I was trying to compile a module into apache on my mac. Long story short, I reinstalled apache from source, and even since, checking/unchecking Web Sharing in the Sharing prefpane doesn't start/stop apache. I must issue "sudo apachectl graceful" to start apache after each reboot.
    Does anyone know a why I can fix this? My guess is it has to do with an apple .plist file somewhere, but I have no idea where to look.
    Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

    I have a launchd plist in /System/Library/LaunchDaemons for Apache called org.apache.httpd.plist. Its contents are thus:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
    <dict>
    <key>Label</key>
    <string>org.apache.httpd</string>
    <key>OnDemand</key>
    <false/>
    <key>ProgramArguments</key>
    <array>
    <string>/usr/sbin/httpd</string>
    <string>-D</string>
    <string>FOREGROUND</string>
    </array>
    <key>SHAuthorizationRight</key>
    <string>system.preferences</string>
    </dict>
    </plist>
    Then you'd tell it to load at startup with:
    sudo launchctl -w load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.apache.httpd.plist
    That ought to work, though I honestly haven't really tried it out with Apache. Also, look in your system log and console log and see if there are any messages from launchd or launchctl about Apache when you boot up. Maybe it's trying and there's something strange going on since you tried re-compiling.

  • Apache Installation - Reinstall/Restore

    i was moving a couple of things around on my machine and made the enormous mistake of deleting my version of Apache on my system. i'm running 10.4.11 and all i want to do is figure out how to restore/reinstall Apache so that i can run my my local web server.
    any ideas as to how i can approach this.
    thank you for any help.

    I've tried a handful of reinstalls of various versions and I can't get anything to work properly.
    I'm not sure if it's because they aren't the right versions or something else to do with the install. Each time I've tried, I still can't start the Personal Web Server through the Sharing preferences.
    I've also followed several installation tutorials, but nothing seems to work either. Any ideas or instructions to possibly get things back on track?
    thanks.

  • Obtaining originally requested URI for 404 processing, Apache JBoss CF8

    Hey all.
    The issue I'm facing, in a (rather large) nutshell: when a user requests a directory which doesn't exist, Apache 2.2 forwards the request to JBoss 4.2.3.GA, which loads the 404 template that I've specified in the web.xml file. That happens to be our 404.cfm page which we run under CF8. That's all good. But, we lose all of the info regarding the original request. The script_name and path_translated vars both think that the request was to 404.cfm. Up until now, our application has sent requests for non-existent directories through IIS to JRun and CF, and the original request has been available to us. We've implemented shortcuts in our app which make use of this info, and it's critical that we have it when we rollout our new server. Help, please. :-)
    After much research, I've tried two things in Apache: the combo of ErrorDocument and mod_jk, and mod_rewrite.
    Below is a synopsis of each approach. If you have another solution, I'd love to hear it. :-)
    For the mod_jk approach,I'm doing a LoadModule for mod_jk, and I've added the following in the VirtualHost section of the httpd.conf file:
    ErrorDocument 404 /404.cfm
    JkMount /(applicationRoot)/* node1
    In the mod-jk.conf file, I'm creating environment vars which should get passed on to JBoss.
    JkEnvVar REDIRECT_URL undefined
    In my 404.cfm template, I'm calling a jsp page with the following code:
    <%
      if(request.getAttribute("REDIRECT_URL")!=null){
            out.println( request.getAttribute("REDIRECT_URL"));
    %>
    What I get in reponse after requesting a non-existent directory is...nothing. The variable doesn't seem to exist.
    This approach apparently works in Railo, where you can use getOriginalRequest() to get at the info you need.
    Anyway, going another route, if I instead use mod_rewrite within VirtualHosts and do something like this:
    RewriteRule ^(.+)$ /404.cfm?qs=%{REQUEST_URI}?%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
    I get sent to the 404, but the code is not proxied to JBoss and instead gets printed to the screen (yikes).
    If I do this:
    RewriteRule ^(.+)$ http://myserver.domain.com/404.cfm?qs=%{REQUEST_URI}?%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
    I get a redirect loop.
    If I do this:
    RewriteRule ^(.+)$ http://myserver.domain.com:8080/404.cfm?qs=%{REQUEST_URI}?%{QUERY_STRING} [L]
    I get sent to the 404 and voilà, I have the variables that I need, but I’m stuck in port 8080 where I don’t want to be.
    Finally, if I do this:
    RewriteRule /(\d+)\Z /404\.cfm\?qs=$1 [L]
    I get rerouted properly, but  I lose the original request.
    So, at the moment, I'm stuck. Have any of you run across a similar situation? Have a solution? Would love to hear it.
    Thanks for reading this far!
    Steve

    You are saying two servers with identicalconfigration files--JBoss, mod_jk, >Tomcat and
    Apache--produce different run-time results?
    What I said is that after reinstalling Apache,
    copying JBoss/Tomcat & mod_jk2
    [from the second instance which still works fine]
    and modifying it's config files (IPs, ports, paths,
    servernames...)
    I still can't make it to work.
    Also since it stopped working after power failure,
    can it be some corrupted
    file or something got screwed up in environment ?
    Could be. Though, unless a configuration file was corrupted during the failure (highly dubious), the problem might be hardware related.
    The comment you made about going to localhost andgetting a test page >seems to indicate to me that
    your Apache directory structure is not being >pointed
    to correctly.
    Do you mean incorrect is the path to JBoss/Apache?
    Or some servername/IP is incorrect ?
    Where/what for should I look ?
    I was only saying that if you are seeing the Apache test page when you go to that URL, then it should conceptually be possible to look for their default HTML index.html somewhere in your filesystem. Unless there is a caching issue (which a server restart could easily detect), then your configuration is pointing somewhere other than you expect (unless your expectation is to in fact see the default Apache HTTP server home page).
    Also, how do I check what is my current localhost
    (I have a few in etc/hosts) ?
    You can find the server name of your local instance via InetAddress.getLocalHost().getHostName().
    TIA,
    Oleg.- Saish

  • How to re-install Apache on Leopard?

    I got interested in playing around with PHP / Apache on my MBP. Went into "sharing" in SysPrefs and enabled Web Sharing, but it doesn't work. eg: type http:/localhost, or http://localhost/~myusername in the browser address bar gives a "Can't establish a connection to the server" error.
    From what I understand, the built-in Apache web server should work out of the box. Typing 'sudo apachectl start' in Terminal gives me "org.apache.httpd: Already Loaded".
    Is there a log file somewhere that I can look at to determine what the problem is? Or, failing that, is there some way to re-install Apache from my OSX Installation disk?

    Your best bet is to user your TM or other backup to reinstall your OS to a time just prior to your modifying the OS. Simply reinstalling Apache may not fix anything.
    You might try using Pacifist to extract Apache from the Leopard DVD, but Apache is so tightly wrapped into the system that this might not work.

  • Content Server 6.40 on deletion

    Hello,
    Our content server is a 6.40. It is installed on a Sparc Solaris 64-bits.
    It works fine except that it crashes each time we delete an document.
    Sap Support has asked me to reinstall apache 2.0.59.
    The problem is still exists.
    Then they have told me that apache2.0.x is not supported on Solaris10 64-bits.
    I have then installed an apache1.3.42 with the sapcs apache module for apache 1.3.x.
    But it still crashes.
    While working with the sap supports on that, I would be very interested by your feedback if you could provide it on the following points.
    1. Have you encountered similar problem with the Sap CS?
    2.  Are you deleting document from your Content Server?
    If yes, which OS are you using?

    Hi Julian,
    Our great basis team was able to resolve the issue. The problem is related to scenarios where apache is being used as a reverse proxy to ignore requests for chunked responses. You do not need to reinstall apache but add the following line in apache config:

  • Redirection problem

    Hi,
    We have powerful Solaris server which hosts 2 sets of Apache 2.0.48 -> JBoss
    3.07 with Tomcat 4.1.18
    using mod_jk2 2.0.2, running a bunch of web applications.
    They are configured to run independently (2 server names, 2 virtual servers,
    different ports, etc.)
    Used to run without a single glitch for about 1/2 year.
    Yesterday we had a power failure, so the server crashed.
    After that we rebooted it, it automatically started Apache, we manually
    started JBoss.
    One set was totally restored (no problems whatsoever), but another one has a
    problem:
    - if you try to run any of the applications, getting error 404
    ("File doesn't exist: /apache/htdocs/myapp" in the log);
    - if you try to go to the main page: http://myserver1.com , you are getting
    index.jsp (Tomcat's main page
    with the cat);
    - but if you try to use port 8080 (http://myserver1.com:8080 ), getting main
    page and all the apps just fine.
    Even tried to kill the second instance of java process for JBoss/Tomcat -
    same exact picture on server1
    (ghost tomcat? - no catalina or tomcat proccesses running)
    Actually, is Tomcat a java process ?(seem to have tomcat.exe in bin
    directoty)
    I interpreted it as a failure of something in the Apache-Tomcat-JBoss
    bridge.
    So I tried to do the following:
    - reboot server - same problem;
    - reinstalled Apache, copied all config files and modules (imcl. ) from old
    instance of Apache to a new one - same;
    - after that restarted JBoss - same.
    - reinstalled JBoss, restarted it and Apache - the same.
    Nobody touched any config files.
    I forgot to mention that if I shutdown the second instance of JBoss/Tomcat,
    on the second instance of Apache http://myserver2.com I am getting error "Internal Server Error" (that is a normal behavior, right ?),
    but on the first instance of Apache http://myserver1.com I still get the
    same Tomcat admin page with the cat (index.jsp)
    although no java processes are running.
    If I go to any application on either server, getting error 404 "Resource not
    available"
    Can you explain how can I get that Tomcat's webapps/admin/index.jsp page when JBoss/Tomcat is down,
    is that mod_jk2 doing somehow ?
    Maybe something with inability to resolve localhost
    (somewhere in config - we had that problem before) ?
    Could you please suggest what might be wrong and how to fix it ?
    1) I am not sure why (don't think anything was modified),
    but something has changed: when you do: http://myserver1.com,
    it no longer shows the admin page of Tomcat,
    but shows page with something "Seeing this instead of the website you expected?..." (Apache Test page).
    2) We replaced all "localhost" with the IP address of that virtual server
    (it has 2 network cards, 2 IP addresses, etc.) - same result
    3) We copied the working version of JBoss and modified its configuration
    (mostly port numbers) to be as it was on that instance originally - same result.
    5) I have tried to change a line in workers2.properties
    from localhost to server1:
    [uri:server1/*]
    and it gave an interesting effect - now if I do http://server1/,
    getting Tomcat admin page (index.jsp with the cat),
    but for http://server1/myapp I am getting error 404 "requested resource not available". In any case, there is nothing showing in error_log,
    but in access_log:
    GET /myapp HTTP/1.1" 404 698
    We had problem on that server resolving localhost (maybe because we have 2 instances of apache & jboss there, 2 servernames, etc.),
    so I changed localhost->server1 in all 3 config files:
    workers2.properties, and on JBoss - in server.xml and
    tomcat41-service.xml , but that didn't chance anything.
    It might be worth mentioning that when I restart apache,
    see in error_log:
    error mod_jk child init 1 -2
    error jk2_init() can't find child 5194 in scoreboard
    What does that mean ?
    Please help!
    Thank you in advance,
    Oleg.

    Can somebody please explain what do these messages in error_log mean
    (at Apache startup):
    [error] mod_jk child init 1 0
    [error] jk2_init() Can't find child 895 in scoreboard
    [notice] Apache/2.0.48 (Unix) mod_jk2/2.0.2 configure
    (that is the only errors I get)
    What is a scoreboard ?
    Thank you in advance,
    Oleg.

  • Web Sharing on Leopard 10.5.6

    Hi,
    Web Sharing Issue: I've modified my Hosts, httpd-vhosts.conf, and httpd.conf and had all of my local dev sites working fine. Since updating to 10.5.6 I now get a "Failed to Connect" error in my browser... web sharing is still enabled, but the links in the pref pane (Your personal Web site, Your Computers's web site) result in the a "failed to Connect" error, while my dev sites are "Address Not Found".
    I used the combo update to update. I've since restored my original files from apache2/orginal but the issue persists. Can anyone offer any ideas on this? I'm at a loss and I really don't want to reinstall apache...
    Thanks so much,

    Ok... Turns out there was an apache folder in /logs/ that was hanging on the error_log file -it was blown away and sending it in a loop, so it never 'officially' started... I replaced it from a different mac and now all is well!

    In this particular case, you cannot start Tomcat because you have another web server or some other program already listening to the same port that Tomcat wants to use.
    (If you don't know what a port is in this context, write back and we will go into more detail.)
    I would guess that you may have Microsoft IIS running, particularly if you're on a corporate machine. You may have to look at the services running on your system and see if any of them are using the port - either check out start->control panel->administrative tools->services or do a "netstat -a" at the command prompt.
    Alternatively you may configure Tomcat to use a different port. The instructions that came with Tomcat will tell you what you will need to do - it's usually just changing one line in the httpd.conf file or whatever the latest Tomcat uses now (I'm not certain anymore).
