Relocating pdf forms Distribute and Response

I have recently completed the design of a number of pdf forms (using LiveCycle designer 8.2) on my home computer (Windows 7) and had no problems in tests of completing, submitting and tracking forms.  However, when I move it to the client's site, the link to the response files does not work.  I can see the submitted forms but cannot connect them to the tracker.  Anyone experienced the same problem and have an answer?
Thanks

Try the LiveCycle forum since this is really a Designer question.

  • Can I auto-populate fields in a pdf form based on responses in other fields (using Acrobat XI PRO)?

    I am creating a fillable pdf form using Acrobat XI Pro and would like to be able to auto-populate text fields in one section of the form based on responses entered by respondents in an earlier section.  Is this possible?  If so, would it function for respondents using Adobe Reader to complete the form?
    Many thanks,
    Andy

    Thanks, George!  In the form I am creating, I ask respondents to identify a number of organizations that they work with.  For example, I ask "Please list up to ten organizations" and then I provide ten text boxes for organizations 1-10.  I then ask a series of follow up questions (radio buttons, check boxes, and rating scales) about each organization.  I would like to auto-populate the fields of those follow up questions with the names of the organizations that the respondents had written.  Does that make sense?  Will this require JavaScript?  My hope is to avoid complicated scripts that may give respondents technical problems with the form.  Thanks again,
    Andy

  • Submitting a PDF form --- save and send completed PDF document?

    A small government site has a number of 'submittable' PDF
    form documents
    that they'd like me to include on the website. I am not very
    familiar
    with PDF forms in this way, and hope someone here can help
    sort out a
    few things...
    Can a PDF form be submitted so that
    a) the completed PDF doc is saved on the server (and renamed)
    b) a printable , completed PDF (looks just like the one they
    filled out,
    with all their values saved in the input boxes) is emailed to
    specific
    address
    c) the raw user data is saved to database (maybe a list of
    fields in one
    column of a db table, and a matching list of values in
    another? this
    would just be for backup in case the completed PDF did not
    save
    correctly to the server, or for later reference)
    We've looked at the standard Acrobat 'submit via email' and
    that won't
    cut it... that method appears to simply trigger a 'mailto'
    popup, with
    the pdf as an attachment. Our system needs to be automated
    via CFmail.
    None of these would handle any 'sensitive' information, the
    main
    concern, from their part, is people being able to submit the
    form and
    have both the city office and the recipient get a copy that
    prints just
    as if they had hit 'print' when filling out the actual PDF.
    Is all of this possible ??
    if so... any tips appreciated!

  • PDF Form Crashes and/or Gives Bad Parameter Error

    I've created a simple PDF form in InDesign 6 and it opens in both Acrobat 9 Pro and X with no problems. The form only has radial buttons and text fields, with a submit button.
    I can fill out the form and when I submit it, I get a Bad Paramenter error in Acrobat X.
    With Acrobat 9 Pro I'm asked "This document is trying to connect to: file//localhost, If you trust this site, choose Allow. If you do not trust this site, choose Block.
    I choose Allow and Acrobat crashes with the error "Acrobat quit unexpectedly" with a very long Problem Details and System Confiuration message (see below).
    Any ideas would greatly be appreciated. I've attached links to both the Acrobat form and the original InDesign file if that helps.

  • 2 Problems with PDF Forms:  Import and Launcing PDF Form in Browser

    We are installing SAP sersion 2004s and I have encountered 2 problems while working through several tutorials.
    1.  When Adobe Designer opens from the layout in SE80, the IMPORT option (under TOOLS) does not appear.  Is there an installation step(s) missing?
    2. I created a simple Adobe Interactive form based on T. Jung's demo (but without the imported PDF form).  Enabled is on and the binding is ok; yet, when I test the application the browser displays only a blank screen.  Other Web Dynpro for ABAP tutorials have worked fine, but not the Adobe Forms.  Again, is there an installation step(s) missing?
    regards,
    john

    First make sure that you have the correct version of the Adobe Lifecycle Designer installed.  I am running 7.0.050519.0.  There are some OSS notes on how to upgrade to the 7.X version of the designer.
    On the second problem, you probably don't have the correct version of the ACF installed.  The ACF (Active Control Framework) is only used when running Interactive PDF documents - not print version ones.  Have a look at OSS note 766191 and 846952.  I had to uninstall my current ACF and install the 04S SP7 version (according to the two notes listed) before I could build the demo in question.

  • How do I remove the "distributed" and "response" file from my form?

    I created a form for my clients to fill out.  I want to be able to post the form on my website so the client can download the form, edit it, save it, print it if they like, and email it to me manually.  I do NOT want the form to have a submit button, nor do I wish to have the responses tracked.
    Currently I have a form that is set up like that.  How can I remove the criteria in the form that is responsible for emailing me as well as tracking the response file?  I want to the form to just be void of any link to my email as well as any response file on my end.
    Would greatly appreciate if anyone can help...
    Thank you,

    For some odd reason, Acrobat Standard does not allow you to edit document-level JavaScripts, so you have to use an alternative approach.
    The first thing to do is find the hidden button and make it visible. To do this, select the Select Object tool, which is a black arrow pointing to the upper-left. When the tool is active, you should see the previously hidden button on the first page:
    Double-click the button and go to the General tab and set the Form Field dropdown in the Common Properties area to Visible. Then go to the Actions tab and delete the "Run a JavaScript' action for the Mouse Up trigger. Then add a new JavaScript action for the Mouse Up trigger and enter the following two lines of code in the editor:
    getAnnot(0, "adhocFormState").destroy();
    addScript("FormsWorkflowScript", "//");
    Then close the dialog, select the Hand tool, and click the button. This will effectively get rid of the document-level JavaScript and the hidden text annotation. You can now delete the button by selecting it with the Select Object tool again, and hit the Delete key, or right-click > Delete
    That should do it.

  • Split permissions of forms editor and responses

    Is there a way to have my admin work on the form (edits, change questions,etc...) but have another user view responces. What I need to do is block my admin from viewing the results of the form.

    This is not something we currently support but you can add or vote on feature ideas:

  • How to save to PDF form View Responses tab without including blank fields?

    Is there a way to save in PDF form from View Responses withouth including blank fields? More specifically, my form has several fields that have action (Show/hide) depending on the values. Once form is submitted and I am reviewing it from View Response tab, I use "save as PDF" button to save/download my completed form, however when I open it, it shows blank fields as well. Is there a way to somehow specify not to include blanks. If there is no way it would be a nice feature to have. Please let me know.

    No, the PDF is always going to show all fields, the "Show/Hide" does not affect the PDF we generate.
    I will soon post a Form for users to submit feature requests, keep your eyes out for an announcement in the forums for it and you can submit this request.
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • Merge data and flaten a PDF form.

    I am working for the first time on using ColdFusion to populate PDF forms.
    I have a simple PDF form I created with my Acrobat 9 Pro tool.  Using the following code, pretty much straight from the documentation, I can easily populate the fields in the PDF with data and save a new PDF file with that data.
    <cfpdfform
        source="#getDirectoryFromPath(getCurrentTemplatePath())#QP-ExpiringLetter.pdf"
        destination="#getDirectoryFromPath(getCurrentTemplatePath())#test.pdf"
        action="populate">
        <cfpdfformparam name="bus_name" value="123 PEST CONTROL">
        <cfpdfformparam name="bus_address" value="1234 MAIN STREET">
        <cfpdfformparam name="bus_city_state_zip" value="HOMETOWN, CA  98765">
    </cfpdfform>
    But the file is still a "Form" file with the fields editable.  I do not want this.  I want a static PDF file with the fields filled in with the data I provided.  Looking at the documentation, it seems the <CFPDF...> tag has functionality to flatten such form files and do what I want.  What I can not find documentation for, or guess at, is HOW to combine these two tags.  I know I could work with a PDF variable in the <CFPDF...> tag, but I see no way to capture the output of the <CFPDFFORM...> tag into such a variable, I can only send the output to the browser or a file.
    Is that the only way to do this?  Send the output to a file, then read that file with the <CFPDF...> tag to flatten it to another file?  That seems a bit IO overhead heavy for what I feel should be able to be done in memory with just one file write.
    TIA
    Ian

    Description
    Manipulates existing forms created in Adobe® Acrobat® and Adobe® LiveCycle® Designer
    I created my sample form with Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Version 9.4.4.  Does that mean I have an Acrobat or a LiveCycle form?
    ColdFusion supports two types of interactive forms: forms created in
    Adobe Acrobat 6.0 or earlier, and forms created in Adobe LiveCycle. In
    Adobe Acrobat Professional and Standard 7.0, Adobe introduced Adobe®
    LiveCycle® Designer for creating PDF forms.
    And if I do have a LiveCycle form, what or how do I get a DDX version of it?

  • Fill and Save PDF Form within Safari

    I know I can download, fill out a PDF Form and save.
    But we need to fill out PDF Forms online and have those forms saved on our server (within our Student Information Server).
    I cannot see any possible way of doing this, and it could be a reason our school district switches to PCs.
    I have downloaded, and installed Adobe Reader 8.0, which doesn't allow Saving PDF.
    The Schubert|it 2.2.3 plugin for PPC machines won't allow Saving either.
    Is there any hope.

    You are misunderstanding.
    I don't want to save the PDF on my computer. I want it saved on the server within our Student Information System.
    It doesn't work with the schubert plugin (the plugin even says it won't).
    I want to be able to modify a PDF that is on a server and save it on the server all within a web page.
    It can be done on Windows. It can't be done on OS X (up to 10.4.9)

  • Controlling Attachments and Copying PDF forms

    Am I correct in assuming that you cannot control the attachment of a PDF form through the use of Rights Management.  I have a client that wished to do this as they do not really want to have to write script in their process to accomodate this.  Also is there a way in RM to be able to prevent a PDF from being copied?

    Hi Steve,
    The use case for this is that the client is worried about intellectual property being sent out to people that are not supposed to have it.  I understand that DRM will not allow any unauthorized users from opening the PDF file.  What the client wanted to be able to do was have PDF documents that the internal user could not copy to other locations and could not actually attach to an email.  They figured that this would be the safest way to deal with loss of IP.
    I explained that we could do the prevention of an attachment through scripting in a process, but there is really nothing that we can do in DRM.  The bottom line is that if someone wants to steal IP then there is no way to prevent all methods of doing this.  The best that we can do is make it as hard as possible.  I will also explain again that the security is in the PDF form itself and they do not have to worry about unauthorized access,
    This is not something that I think we should spend a lot of time on as the level of security in the form more than meets what the client requires, they just don't understand it yet.
    Thanks for your help in this.

  • Workaround solution PDF Form for Reader 8 & 9 - or is it?

    I've devised a workaround solution to make pdf forms work consistently with Adobe Reader 8 & 9.
    I'd like to run it by you guys to see if you think there's a better solution or whether I could have created problems for myself.
    Initially I had a simple Submit button on the pdf form that linked to an email address. But then I discovered the button worked differently in Reader 8 & 9.
    In Reader 9, the Submit button opened the attachment in an email with the address in place. Great!
    But in Reader 8, the Submit button (despite asking whether you use desktop or Internet email) only saves the pdf. You then have to attach it to the email manually.
    My aim was to create a version that worked the same for both Reader 8 & 9 - so that I could provide one simple set of instructions that would work for both. And so that my customers wouldn't even need to know which version of Reader they were using.
    The version I've created enables people to open the pdf form in Reader 8 or 9, fill it in and save it. Then they can attach it to an email in the normal way.
    Although I won't be telling my customers this: Users of Reader 9 will also be able to open their completed file directly as an email by clicking the Submit Form button.
    My solution was to create a hidden Submit button that didn't work!  Without it, the fields wouldn't work in Reader 8. But its presence prevented a substitute Submit Button appearing. The problem with the substitute Submit Button was that
    a. It blocked out my artwork
    and b. it didn't work as a Submit Button anyway - it only saved the document!
    Here's what I did. Please let me know if you think some of the stages were unnecessary:
    In Acrobat Preferences - Identity - Make sure email address is the one client wants emails to go to.
    To create invisible submit button that doesn't work:
    Button Properties:
    General - Hidden
    Appearance - No Border or Fill
    Options - Layout - Label only, Behaviour - None
    Actions - Select Trigger - Mouse Up, Select Action - Submit a Form
    Submit a Form - Edit -
    Just type in  - mailto:   ... not the rest of the email address
    Select PDF
    Forms - Distribute Forms
    Manually Collect Responses in my Inbox - NEXT
    Save a local copy and Manually send it later (choose where) NEXT
    Deselect Collect Name & Email

    Your best bet is not to use email at all. Post the form on the net and have them fill it out and use a script to email you the responses or to place the data into a database. Too many people don't know how to use attachments. You have to worry about the 500 users/uses limit. At the University I work at, I'd guess15-30% of the students, faculty and staff don't know how to use attachments. I doubt the real world is much different.

  • Form Distribution and re-submit

    I am new to form design but would like to create a PDF form/checklist for each project that we manage.  At any time, the project manager can access the checklist, update existing fields and re-submit.  Is there a way to do this that the dataset record gets updated WITHOUT creating a new record?
    Hopefully the question makes sense...basically we want to re-submit the form, and have the dataset record updated and NOT add a new record.
    Thanks

    Thanks for the response Paul.  Yes that is exactly what I'm talking about.  I was hoping that by adding to the initial form you could then re-submit and have it update the first response.  This would mean that the initial form is somehow linked to the response (ie. Form #1 updates record #1, form #2 updates record #2 etc.)
    I'm thinking that it might be possible to achieve something similar by looking at the project # (which is a unique field created on each form distributed) and then sorting/filtering by the submit date (to only look at the latest submitted date for that project #)....but that certainly could be more difficult in the programming/collection process.
