Remote console via an eLOM on a Sun 4150 doesn't work in Mac OS X Leopard?

We have a pair of new Sun 4150's (with the Xeon Woodcrest CPU), and I'm playing around with the remote management features provided by the eLOM. On Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, I am able to launch the Java Remote KVM (Sun eLOM console) Java utility, but it never shows the console inside the window. In addition, in the java console, I see this stack trace:

I just got some Sun X4450s, their eLOM client didn't work under Linux (RHEL5, Mandriva 2008.1 etc.), but worked on Windows.
I then did the eLOM to ILOM upgrade, and the ILOM's Sun ILOM Remote Console works fine (just as well or better than on the X4100's, X4200s, X4500s, and X4600s we have).
If you have the ILOM Remote Console working on Mac with other servers, I'm quite sure the eLOM to ILOM upgrade will do the trick.
If you're hesitant, I can get the one Mac user in our office to confirm ...

Sadly Snow Leopard was the last OS X to have Front Row and it is no longer offered in Lion or Mountain.

Remote file access doesn't work with Mac and Q10

I'm running the latest BlackBerry Link (version 1.20, build 7) and Mac OS X (version 10.9) software on my Mac Mini computer.
I setup BlackBerry Link for remote file access.
On my Q10 in File Manager I see my Mac computer but for some reason I don't see any folders. It's just a black blank screen. My carrier is Telus.
In link I chose folders to access. It seems like everything is setup properly and I still see only a black blank screen on my Q10.
Any Mac users have this issue?

Me too. None of the sync functions/remote file access/wifi sync using BB Link are working for me. I have a Mac (10.8.5) and a BB Z10 (10.2.0.429). I hope BB comes up with a solution soon.

Images to Video (Sun Example doesn't work for me)

Failed to create a DataSink for the given output MediaLocator: foo.mov ¿There's another way to do it?

I believe the problem may be with how you're constructing your output MediaLocator... Check out their "main" method and see how they're converting their filenames into MediaLocators, and make sure you do that too. I can tell you, that's not how they do their output mediaLocators. They construct theirs with a "file://" prefix and a fully-rooted pathname. Check the code.

Wifi connection doesn´t work in Mac Book 5.1 with windows 7 x86 via bootcamp 4

I have installed Bootcamp 4 drivers and all features are fully working except the Wireless conncetion.
The airport wifi scans and works but i click connect to my wifi and i get an error saying that it´s not possible to connect.
In the Mac OS X side wifi works perfectly and in an other computer with Win7 works the connection..
Anyone know what can i do?
i tried reinstalling everything (bootcamp drivers, Windows7 OS, installing other version of boot camp)but i can´t fix this problem

For example, for a 13 inch 2012 MBP it is Boot Camp Support Software 4.1.4586.

ILOM Remote Console - Escape key for releasing mouse at relative mode

Hi there,
after setting the mouse mode the relative mode I run into troubleses if I want to exit the remote console with my mouse.
Is there an escape key for doing that?
I learned, that setting the mouse mode to relative is a "must" setting if working under Linux. But if I start the remote console at
a Windows PC relative mouse mode is not working. So what can I do in such a mixed environment?

A little update to my post:
After installing the OS at my server (X4170, 2003R2 64Bit), I was able to switch back to absolute mouse mode (under Linux).
This is crap and costs a lot of time...

ELOM Remote Console Scriptability and Remote Storage Questions

I have a few questions reguarding scriptability of the Java Web Start eLOM Remote Console and the use of this application for redirecting remote storage.
Setup:
- x6250s in 6048 chasis
- x6250 Bios version 1ADPI040 & SP version 4.0.52
- Sun eLOM Remote Console version 2.53.05
- CentOS 5.2
Questions:
- I'd like to write a wrapper script that would allow me to start a remote console on the Linux command line. Then, a command line like "myjavaconsole bladexyz" would give me a java remote KVM without me having to click through the web interface. Is something like this possible? Hints?
- The [Sun Blade X6250 Server Module Embedded Lights Out Manager Administration Guide|http://docs.sun.com/source/820-1253-14/remote_con.html#0_66586] says that you can use the eLOM Remote Console GUI to redirect storage devices including CD/DVD drives, Flash, DVD-ROM or diskette disk drives, hard drives, or NFS. These seem very instersting options, but I've only been able to sucessfully redirect an ISO image. Are these other options really possible?
- Is it possible to script the mounting/unmounting of remote ISO images or other storage? I would love to be able to control blade boot processes by having this functionality.

It seems the problem is related somehow to the setup of my Windows box. I did try a couple of other Windows boxes with the same result, but everything worked perfectly when using a Linux/ubuntu system to run the remote console. The blade saw the CD, booted from it, and is now happily running ESX Server.
The wierd thing is, the ubuntu system was running inside VMWare Workstation on the same Windows PC that has the problems, and was accessing the same physical CD drive. Sometimes you have to think out of the box, or in this case into a box inside the box:-)
I guess if these things we all straightforward I'd be out of a job, so I shouldn't complain!!

Clearly the remote EXE cannot run in that context. YOU should not run that program remotely.
I suspect there is also information you are not giving to us.

How to get to x6250 Remote console through a ssh tunnel?

I am accessing webGUI of my x6250 blade console through a ssh tunnel, I can log into eLOM, but when I launch remote console, the java client starts, then a java IOException window comes up with message saying "Create connection failure".
When I access eLOM directly from company network without ssh tunnel, all works fine, so it is not my local system's setup or JVM issue.
I am forwarding following ports already: 80, 443, 5120, 5121, 5123, and 7578.
I suspect I missed some more ports for remote console usage, but which one(s)?

a) There does not appear to be an official Sun source for the port data.
b) ILOM, ELOM, [a-z]LOM each seem to require their own selection of ports.... Beware.

Error in JVM when starting NWDS by MS Remote Console

It probably seems to work with lower settings (xms256 to xmx512).
Can you explain why this settings are "too high"?
We set this because we have "enough" RAM in system and for our development it is probably the best (quickest) setting we tested. Also i read about this settings in www, and there are 2 things they recommended for performance:
First: Max. Settings is 1024MB and Second: set xms and xmx to the same value.

SCCM 2012: remotely connect via powershelll: no psdrive

I'd like to connect via powershell to a remote sccm-server.
What I did:
Run powershell x86

Set execution policy to unrestricted
Import-Module ‘c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Configuration Manager\AdminConsole\bin\ConfigurationManager.psd1’
Get-psdrive to see connections (in order to change to sitecode via cd sitecode)
but the site does not appear (connected remotely also via sccm 2012 console and launched "connect via powershell").

You need some reg keys for this to work. Those reg keys are normally created by the console when you start it.

Remote console session freezes when scrolling

My host: Laptop running Windows XP SP3.
Guest: Windows 2008 R2, physically on a USB hard drive.
My VMware server version is 2.0.2.
I have ongoing problems with the host session freezing up. I have had this problem intermittently while working in MMC on the guest, or consistently in MS Excel 2008 on the guest. Because I can consistently reproduce the problem in Excel, I'll focus on it. The session will freze simply by selecting a cell, and then dragging down to select multiple rows of cells. If I exceed the number of rows visible, the Excel session should scroll down. Instead, the entire session becomes unresponsive. I can not move the mouse pointer or switch or any other applications in the remote session. My only option is to shut down the virtual machine and restart it.
I have also had the same problem when navigating MMC. The entire session will sometimes freeze after I click the plus sign to open up an item. In this case, I have not yet identified under what circumstances the "freezing" occurs.

I am experiencing what I think is the same issue. However, my vmware tools (seem) up to date (declared version is 7.7.6, update option is inactive), and there is no svga driver under c:\program files\common files\vmware\drivers (there is one in c:\program files\vmware\vmwaretools\drivers\video though).
The VM freezes after scrolling up/down in notepad++ , exact conditions are hard to define, but usually after 2 minutes of editing a text file a freeze is guaranteed. Only way to recover is a reboot of the VM (a shutdown never completes). Help appreciated.

How to break into Sol7 with remote console.

Greetings fellow Solaris on Intel users,
We originally started driver development on Sol8. We set up a remote console (eeprom input-device=ttya, output-device=ttya), modified /etc/default/kbd by specifying KEYBOARD_ABORT=alternate (due to serial connection to WinNT), and then issued kbd -a alternate. To break into Sol8 via the remote console, the break-in key sequence is <CarriageReturn>~<cntrl-b> To get the <CarriageReturn>, one must hold the ALT key whilst entering 013. This works fine.
However, we need to do some verification of our driver under Sol7 (11/99). The problem we are having is that Sol7 does not have the /etc/default/kbd file, nor the kbd utility. Remote console works fine.
The question is how can we setup Sol7 in order to break into kabd via the remote console.

What are my options for a unified remote console

My home-cloud is a 4x servers running Proxmox. Recently I turned one of these to ESXi 5.5 u1 to see what I was missing. (comment withheld).
I am looking to understand what my alternatives are to the problem of remote consoles to allow access across the web, and from Mac OS or a web browser. At a push, a windows VM will do too.

Unless you have an old calling plan, you should be able to add a tiered data plan for your new smartphone (i.e., $30 for 2 GB). Can no longer connect to remote server via VPN

I recently installed OS 10.5.8, and have found that I can no longer connect to my server at work. The VPN itself (via PPTP) works fine, it's just that when I try to connect to the remote server (via Connect to Server) I get a dialogue saying 'A volume failed to mount.' A further dialogue says 'Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred. (Error code -6602)'
Has anyone found a way around this, please? I'm disabled and I need to be able to work from home – without the connection I'm stuffed! Obviously I've tried rebooting the machine etc, but nothing seems to help.
