Remote debug in jdev3.1 and ias1.0

We want to remote debug in our web app. Our
env is Jdev3.1 for nt and ias1.0 for aix4.3.3
We use jpda(java platform debug architecture from sun) for remote debug, We found that jpda1.0 for solaris doesn't work in aix4.3.3. Where can we find jpda for aix? It's very important for us to set remote debug in ias1.0 for aix4.3.3.
Who can help me?

In the JAva Environment settings for your OAS Application you should add the remote debugging name-value pairs using
X_OPTION
X_OPTION
runjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,suspend=n,address=4000
X_OPTION debug
X_OPTION noagent
JAVA_COMPILER NONE
INITIAL_HEAP 32m
MAX_HEAP 32m
After adding the configuration start the OAS and try to connect to remote OAS VM for JDeveloper

  • Remote debugging JSPs using Forte and Weblogic

    I am compiling JSPs using a build script (ANT) and deploying it to weblogic server instance running on unix. when i mount the JSPs and my classes to Forte and connect to weblogic instance, I can debug the java files. But the JSPs i can't debug. I can put the break points in JSPs but the debugger is not stopping at that breakpoint when i run my application in the browser.

    I guess I can answer the question myself...
    Turns out that there was a problem in 1.3.0. BugParade #4342974.

  • How to use Remote Debugging in JDeveloper 3.1 ?

    I am trying to use the Remote Debugging option with EJBs in JDeveloper 3.1 with Oracle8i 8.1.6.
    I checking all steps the online walkthrough for Remote Debugging EJB in 8i and it didn't work.
    I'm using Oracle8i EJB/CORBA debug option in project properties, but it does not stop in my EJB's break points.
    I tried deploying the EJB again ( with break points) and again it didn't work.
    The error message I got in the trace file is:
    Errors in file D:\Oracle\admin\SCT\udump\sctS000.TRC:
    ORA-29516: Aurora assertion failure: Java thread deadlock detected
    Could someone please tell me how to use it?

    Which platform is the database running on ??
    Other things you should check -
    when debugging the EJB, JDev
    3.1 looks through your IIOP connections to find the one to use.
    Make sure that the IIOP connection that JDev is using for the debugging matches the IIOP connection that the EJB client application is using.

  • Remote Debug Listener crashes

    Hi,
    I try to remote debug via SQL-Developer and create a remote debug listener in my first sqldeveloper.
    Then I use a second sqldeveloper and run the following statements as script everything works fine. My first sqldeveloper stops at the breakpoint and I can debug
    set serveroutput on;
    execute DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP.CONNECT_TCP('myIp',4010);
    declare

  • Remote Debugging of a clickonce application

    Hi,
    i'm using Visual Studio 2012 and having vb.net projects. I'm still pretty new with vb.net at all. I want now establish remote debugging to a second system for a clickonce application.
    I have tried to follow the MSDN remote debugging instructions without success and tried to combine it with information i read from different other sources although without success
    1. Remote Debug Monitor is installed on the remote system and is running.
    2. following setting are actually set in the project properties under the debug tab:
     "Start external program" is selected. The path to the clickonce application on the remotesystem is included
    \\remotesystem\C:\Users\Test\desktop\clickonceapplication
    Although "Use remote machine" is checked and the remotemsystem name is included. As "Working directory" i have set 'C:\Temp' as working directory.
    3.
    The connection to the remote systems seems to work, the Remote Monitor log the access to it. But my system says in a msgbox "Visual Studio cannot debug because the debug target  '\\remotesystem\C:\Users\Test\desktop\clickonceapplication' is not
    an exe file.
    I would appreciate if someone could help me out and in best case describe step by step what to do.
    Regards
    Eugen

    Thanks you for your quick replies so far.
    @Jack:
    I’ve tried what you mentioned. This are the project properties on my computer. There is only one Tab called ‘General’. I can't post pictures so I describe the properties:
    Application
     => Executable: I've selected the path to the remote computer here \\remotesystem\desktop\clickonceapplication (desktop is shared). This path seems to be converted to a path with C:\USERS\Me\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\...\ clickonceapplication.exe
    Parameters
    => Argument: nothing
    => Attach: No
    => Connection: Remote with Windows authentication
    => Debugger Type: Mixed
    => Environment: Default
    => Machine: remotesystem
    =>SQL Debug Engine: Yes
    => Working directory: c:\temp  Question: Is this on my computer or on the remote system? If on the remote system, has it to be a shared path?
    By clicking Debug, Debug Monitor shows activity again but I get the following error message now:
    Unable to start program
    'C:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\... \ clickonceapplication.exe'
    'c:\temp' is not a valid working directory
    @ Pavel A
    This change ends in the same error message as before:
    "Visual Studio cannot debug because the debug target ' ‘C:\Users\Test\desktop\clickonceapplication' is not an exe file.

    I have attempted to run the test app on remote device but my pc crashes before or when reaching certification.
    So far, I have attempted to run an app software for the ARM device; however, ever since I have upgraded the surface to 8.1, I constantly get the bad pool header crash, even after successfully connecting the pc to rt device.
    is there any way I can resolve the issue so I can successfully to remote debugging?

  • Remote debugging with APEX and SQL Developer

    Hi,
    I have problems concerning breakpoints within my SQL Packages I want to debug.
    I want to force SQL-Developer to suspend execution of a function, so I can get forward step by step.
    The SQL-Developer do not stop executing at the breakpoints I set in the Package.
    The message I get is the following (on SQL-Developer side):
    Debugger accepted connection from remote process on port 4000.
    Processing 110 classes that have already been prepared...
    Finished processing prepared classes.
    Debugger disconnected from remote process.
    Seems to me, that the process runs into the debug-mode but leave without stopping at a given breakpoint??
    Do anybody have an idea how to solve it?
    We use Oracle 10.2.0.3.0, SQL Developer 1.5.1 and APEX 3.1.2.
    The Package-function I want to debug runs on another Oracle database as the APEX application.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Carsten,
    now I have done a further step. I can debug a remote PL/SQL-Package through APEX, but now I get an exception when the program execution jumps back to the APEX PL/SQL-Package.
    My APEX-Page-Process looks like this:
    BEGIN
      dbms_debug_jdwp.connect_tcp(host => 'IP-ADDRESS', port => '4201');
      APEX_TEST_PKG.remoteDebug;
      dbms_debug_jdwp.disconnect;
    END;The procedure APEX_TEST_PKG.remoteDebug looks like this (located on the APEX-DB):
    PROCEDURE startRemoteDebug
      AS
        v_string    VARCHAR2(50)   := '';
      BEGIN
        [email protected](host => 'IP-ADDRESS', port => '4000',
                 option_flags => dbms_debug_jdwp.connect_defer_suspension);
        v_string := [email protected];
        DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(v_string);
        [email protected];
      END remoteDebug; The procedure REMOTE_TEST_PKG.testFunc looks like this (located on the Remote-DB):
    FUNCTION testFunc RETURN VARCHAR2
      AS
        v_string    VARCHAR2(50)   := '';
      BEGIN
        v_string := 'Test';
      RETURN v_string;
    END testFunc; When I start the debug session without the option dbms_debug_jdwp.connect_defer_suspension, I get an exception Oracle.EXCEPTION_ORA_604.
    Starting the debug session with the above mentioned option, I am able to debug the remote function.
    But now I get an exception when the executor tries leaving the remote function going back to the invoking function. With the debugger I can step over the return-statment successfully and the debugger steps on the next line END testFunc;. On this line I get the exception above
    Exception breakpoint occurred at line -1 of PBREAK.pls.
    $Oracle.Builtin.EXCEPTION_USER:
    Exception breakpoint occurred at line -1 of PBREAK.pls.
    $Oracle.Builtin.EXCEPTION_USER: I tried another way where I get now exception and where I can step through my functions in APEX, descending to functions in the remote db and going back to APEX.
    For this case I put the debug-statements in remote function:
    FUNCTION testFunc RETURN VARCHAR2
      AS
        v_string    VARCHAR2(50)   := '';
      BEGIN
        dbms_debug_jdwp.connect_tcp(host => 'IP-ADDRESS', port => '4000');
        v_string := 'Test';
        dbms_debug_jdwp.disconnect;
      RETURN v_string;
    END testFunc; But I have no idea why it doesn't work properly starting the remote debug session in the apex procedure.
    Regards
    Michael

  • Remote Debugging w/ Eclipse and Weblogic

    Hi,
              I'd like to debug my Servlets/EJB's running on a Weblogic 6.1 SP4. My
              IDE is Eclipse 2.1
              To enable remote debugging I start Weblogic with that additional JVM
              options:
              -classic -Xdebug -Xnoagent
              -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=5000,suspend=y,server=y
              and configured my Remote Application in Eclipse accordingly.
              The connection successes.
              Problem: When I reach my breakpoint, Eclipse pops up an error message:
              "Attempting to install a breakpoint in the type
              com.xxx....
              that has no line number attributes. The breakpoint cannot be
              installed. Class files must be generated with the line number
              attributes.
              Reason:

              I compiled my sources with enabled debug option.
              Any comments and ideas are appreciated.
              Cheers,

              the debug option was NOT enabled (seems that my ant script is too
              complex at this stadium...)

    Hi Ralph
    I have had a similar problem, remote debugging on AIX. Unfortunately this turns out to be some rather nasty bugs in the JDPA/Java implementation on AIX. In the following I am giving you 2 easy examples to reproduce it. I'd be very interested to hear from you afterwards, if you get the same results. So, as it turns out, it's nothing to do with IAS, but with IBM's Java implementation on AIX.
    Best regards,
    Lars
    ----------------------- Examples: ---------
    The following 2 scenarios demonstrates errors in JDPA/AIX: (debugging)
    ------- Scenario 1:
    1. javac -g debugTest.java
    2. jdb -tclassic debugTest
    3. stop at debugTest:5
    4. run
    5. cont
    * Observe! On AIX the program finishes after the first 'cont'. This is not correct behaviour.
    On Windows 'cont' is executed 3 times, stopping at the breakpoint which is correct behaviour.
    public class debugTest {
    public static void main(String args[]) {
    System.out.println("Here we go..");
    for (int i = 0; i < 3; i++)
    System.out.println("Hej igen...");
    ------- Scenario 2:
    1. javac -g debugTest2.java
    2. jdb -tclassic debugTest2
    3. stop at debugTest2:3
    4. run
    5. Step
    * Observe! On AIX it stops incorrectly in 'java.io.PrintStream.ensureOpen()'.
    On Windows it stops correctly in 'debugTest2.main(), line=4'.
    Executing the 'threads' command, it can be seen that "Signal dispatcher cond. wait".
    On Windows it's "Signal dispatcher running". I'm not sure, but this could be a bug.
    Executing the 'where' command on Windows it can be seen that it stops correctly in the
    sourcecode. On AIX it "goes too far" and is in a java.io statement.
    6. step
    7. step
    * Observe! AIX now core-dumps!
    public class debugTest2 {
    public static void main(String args[]) {
    System.out.println("Here we go..");
    System.out.println("Line 1");
    System.out.println("Line 2");
    System.out.println("Line 3");
    System.out.println("Line 4");

  • Remote Debugging w/9iAS  not working !

    I tried posting this in the app server area but apparently, it's too difficult for anyone to answer. No replies.
    We need to debug a deployed jsp that uses java beans.
    The jsp/java beans app is in jdevleoper 9.0.3.1 (windows 2000).
    I have deployed the application to Oracle 9ias java edition (9.0.3) on Red Hat Linux.
    I know how to modify the project settings in jdeveloper for remote debugging.
    when I start debug mode in jdeveloper I am prompted for the host name and port number for the remote debug session. What port do I use ?
    Do I need to do something to start 9ias at a certain port ? If so, how do I do this ?
    I have seen conflicting information on this that mainly refers to a standalone oc4j, not the oc4j in 9ias.
    Frank

    Hi,
    We have gotten many requests for collateral that details these steps. We are currently working on such a document. Keep posted to the JDeveloper OTN website http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev for updates on this.

  • How to enable remote debugging for a session other than the current one

    Hi all,
    I am trying to figure out how to enable remote debugging for a session other than the one I am currently using.
    More specifically, we have an application that is making database calls to Oracle 11gR2. Something is causing an exception during this invocation. My system is currently not set up to recompile said application, so I can't just add the debug call to the code and recompile. Therefore I would like to be able to log into the database (as sys, if necessary) and invoke dbms_debug_jdwp.connect_tcp on the desired session.
    The docs indicate that I should be able to do so:
    dbms_debug_jdwp.connect_tcp(
    host IN VARCHAR2,
    port IN VARCHAR2,
    session_id IN PLS_INTEGER := NULL,
    session_serial IN PLS_INTEGER := NULL,
    debug_role IN VARCHAR2 := NULL,
    debug_role_pwd IN VARCHAR2 := NULL,
    option_flags IN PLS_INTEGER := 0,
    extensions_cmd_set IN PLS_INTEGER := 128);
    But when I try (even as sys), I get the following:
    exec dbms_debug_jdwp.connect_tcp('1.2.3.4',5678,<session id>,<session serial>);ORA-00022: invalid session ID; access denied
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP", line 68
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    00022. 00000 - "invalid session ID; access denied"
    *Cause:    Either the session specified does not exist or the caller
    does not have the privilege to access it.
    *Action:   Specify a valid session ID that you have privilege to access,
    that is either you own it or you have the CHANGE_USER privilege.
    I've tried granting the 'BECOME USER' privilege for the relevant users, but that didn't help. I read something about having to set some kind of ACL as of 11gR1, but the reference documentation was very confusing.
    Would someone be able to point me in the right direction? Is this even possible, or did I misread the documentation?

    Interesting deduction, that would be very useful indeed. I hate recompiling just to add the debug call, and it can't be done in our production environment. But it seems unlikely to me it would be implemented this way.
    I would cross-post this in the SQL AND PL/SQL forum though, as this is really a database issue, not with the SQL Developer tool. Do add the links to the other posts in each.
    Regards,
    K.

  • Cannot remote debug from JDev 10.1.3 on AS 10.1.2 running hotspot

    Hi,
    I've set up an embedded OC4J instance in an application server as described in the help topic, "Remote Debugging in OC4J" (with a few changes, such as the fact that I added startup options using the OC4J instance Admin page of EM, rather than at the command line (since the instance is embedded in a full AS). I followed the directions specifically for HotSpot, because that's the JVM the instance was set up to use, and I can't change it (I know OJVM enables lots more features, but that's the situation I'm in).
    I've also configured my project for remote debugging, ensuring the host name and port matches, and trying both "Attach to JDPA" and "Attach to OJVM" (these being the only two options, except for starting a listener, which I don't think will help with a web application).
    When I try to debug, though, I get:
    Debugger unable to connect to remote process.
    Should I be doing something differently?
    Thanks much,
    Avrom

    I had the delete key quit working after accidentally pressing a key sequent that included the delete key. I don't know what keys were involved, but the delete key from that point on did nothing.
    I am running JDeveloper 10.1.3.0.4 on Window XP.
    To resolve the problem, I set the keyboard Accelerators back to 'Default' in JDeveloper.
    I selected... Tools->Preferences->Accelerators
    then click on 'Load preset' then I chose 'Default'
    You may need to select something other than default for your platform, but that did the trick for me.
