Remote debugging (jboss deployed) ejb using JDeveloper

Hi there
Does anyone know how to remote debug an ejb deployed in JBoss using JDeveloper (or perhaps know of a link?)? All I can find is this from Oracle:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/appservers/debug_in_jboss.html
But the cmd to replace in the $bin\run.bat file to enable remote debugging doesn't exist in my version of JBoss (jboss-4.0.1RC1).
Can anyone shed some light here?
Thanks very much in advance...Jon

In run batch file add
set JAVA_OPTS= -Xdebug -Xnoagent -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=8787,server=y,suspend=n %JAVA_OPTS%

  • Procedure for hot deploying EJBs using  Jdeveloper and OC4J comtainer

i am using JDeveloper , please any one help me out in hot deploying EJBs. what is the procedure if i want to hot deploy EJBS

    1) You have to start OC4J with higher Java heap size e.g. java -Xms100m -Xmx150m -jar oc4j.jar
    2) The RMI port by default used is 23791 and configurable by modifying config/rmi.xml.

  • Remote Debugging of OJVM without using JDeveloper

I need to remotely debug a Java program running in an OJVM started with the following command line:
    java.exe -ojvm -XXdebug,detached,port4000,quiet
Using Oracle's JDeveloper, which can connect and debug this program, is not an option. The program doing the "debugging" is a home-grown utility that will have very specialized functionality unique to the program its debugging. As of right now we would like to use the plain-vanilla Sun's Hotspot 1.4 JVM, if possible, for the "debugger's" jvm. So, if I can get Sun's jdb.exe to connect to the OJVM then I can get the home-grown "debugger" to work too.
I know if I change the startup parameters of the debugee java program to this:
    java.exe -classic -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,suspend=n,address=4000 -Xdebug -Xnoagent -Djava.compiler=NONE
I can get jdb to connect with this:
    jdb -connect com.sun.jdi.SocketAttach:hostname=myhostname,port=4000
Changing the startup parameters is something that I absolutely, positively want to avoid.
So what would be the jdb connect string?
Is it required that the OJVM be installed and used by the PC where jdb is running?
The debugger would be running under windows 2000 if that's important to know.
    Thanks.

    Hi.
jdb uses the Java Platform Debugger Architecture (JPDA). See http://java.sun.com/products/jpda for more information. I suspect that your home-grown debugger is built on JPDA.
Unfortunately, OJVM does not implement JVMDI (Java Virtual Machine Debugger Interface), which is the part of JPDA that a JVM must implement in order to support JPDA.
So, you are not going to be able to debug with jdb and OJVM together.
You can use hotspot for the debuggee's JVM by using the following arguments:
    java.exe -client -Xdebug -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,suspend=n,address=4000
I know you said that you positively want to avoid changing the startup parameters, but if you want to use jdb (or any home-grown debugger built on JPDA), you can't use OJVM. Sorry.

According to the JDeveloper 3.2 readme.htm file. "You will not be able to deploy EJBs from JDeveloper 3.2 to Oracle8i Release 3 (8.1.7) on Solaris. We expect this to be fixed in the Solaris patchset 8.1.7.1. This problem does not exist on Oracle8i Release 3 (8.1.7) on Windows NT."
My question again is "Can this be done out-side of JDeveloper?". Instructions would be appreciated.

  • How can I develop EJBs using JDeveloper?

    Hi all.
How can I develop EJBs (entity beans) using JDeveloper and deploying them on WebLogic6x
    server?
Oracle says that JDeveloper enables to build and deploy applications to the WebLogic
    6x, but I can't do that with Entity Beans(CMP).
I established the connection to the WebLogic and to the DataBase and they work.
JDeveloper generate ejb-jar.xml and weblogic-ejb-jar.xml but not weblogic-cmp-rdbms-jar.xml.
How can I build all the necessary xml's files? What I have to do? Exist a pluging
    to integrate JDeveloper with WebLogic?
Thanks, and I hope your answers.

    hello,
in reports 6i the charts are created using oracle graphics which stores the chart definitions in a separate file (.OGD). there is not XML interface for graphics.
with reports 9i and the introduction of the BIgraphBean the definition of the chart-properties is also done in XML.
reports 9i will be available with iAS Release 2.

    Hi,
I did not make any console adjustments for debugging on my WebLogic 10.3.2.0 - however I am running in development mode on an "adminServer" (an option during the install)
In the console there is a debug setup page - that seems to have no effect for me (I can always debug) - so either it is a combination of development mode and/or the startWeblogic script from the Eclipse plugin.
However, these debug settings are likely for debugging into the server - you only want to debug your own app code right?
    On the console page goto
    http://localhost:7001/console/console.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=ServerDebugPage
    servers | AdminServer | configuration-debug | expand weblogic
    I see...

  • Regarding ESB Deployment without using JDeveloper

    Hi,
I would like to deploy my ESB application without using JDeveloper. BPEL Designer automatically creating the build script to deploy the BPEL application. Is there any ant script available to deploy the ESB application in to Oracle integration server.? Please let us know.
    Regards
    Niraimathi R

    Niraimathi,
I had the same question - see Re: Registering ESB Services without JDeveloper
Dave Berry from Oracle kindly gave me a sneak preview of the jars and tags required in order to register ESB services from ANT.
I now have a continuous build environment (using Cruise Control), linked into Subversion which deploys all my BPEL Processes and registers my ESB services.
I believe that the JARs and instructions on how to register ESB services using ANT will be available on OTN soon.
    Kind Regards,
    Mark.

  • How to debug serlvet and EJB using IDE

Anybody knows how to debug Servlet and EJB through standard IDE, like
Symantec or VisualAge? Does the attach to process works?
    Thanks.

    1) Download and install the jpda package from sun (Java Platform Debugger
Architecture, it contains the jdwp.dll, this has to be in your %PATH%
    variable).
    2) Start weblogic with something like this:
    %JDK_HOME%\bin\java -Xdebug -Xnoagent -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y
    ,address=8000 -ms64m -mx64m -Xbootclasspath:%JAVACLASSPATH% -classpath
    %WEBLOGICHOME%\classes\boot -Dweblogic.class.path=%WEBLOGICCLASSPATH% -Dwebl
    ogic.home=%WEBLOGICHOME% -Dweblogic.system.name=MyServer -Djava.security.man
    ager -Djava.security.policy==%WEBLOGICHOME%\weblogic.policy weblogic.Server
    3) address is the portnumber (in this example 8000) for the remote debugger.
Attach to the VM with arguments -host <hostname> -port <address>

  • Remote Debugging Weblogic 92 application using Eclipse 3.4

    Hi,
    1. I have the below debug options in the startweblogic script.
    set JAVA_OPTIONS=-Xdebug -Xnoagent -Djava.compiler=NONE -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,address=javadebug,suspend=n
    2. I have configured remote debugging in Eclipse. Connection type - Standard Socket (attach), host =localhost, port 7001. 7001 is the listen port that I have specified in config.xml.
    3. When I run weblogic, I see the message listening for transport dt_socket address. Since address=javadebug, each time the dt_socket address is different.
    4. In Eclipse IDE, the debug prespective indicates the server has started. But when I click on the debug buttin in the Debug configuration dialog, I get the error below
Failed to connect to remote VM. Connection timed out.
    org.eclipse.jdi.TimeoutException
Note: Another thread in this forum mentions using the same port that is specified in the java_options but that did not work either. Any ideas what might be wrong?
    Thanks.
    RS.

I think that value of "javadebug" is only used for shared memory transport, not socket transport. You have to choose a port that isn't being used by anything else. The value 8453 is a typical default value for this. Specify that instead of "javadebug", and use 8453 in your connection from Eclipse.

  • WebLogic Debugging thru Multiple EjBs using VCafe 3.1

    Here is my problem:
We are trying to use use WebLogic 4.5.1 and Visual Cafe 3.1 and debug
with break points within multiple EjBs. However, this is not going so well.
My first question is this, is what we are trying to do even possible with
the versions we are using. From all I have read I gather now it is possible
to debug using the aforementioned versions of WL and VC with special
handling. Or is it necessary to use different versions. The problem with
that would be that there is no Enterprise relase of Cafe past 3.1 yet.
Further we want to use Java 1.2 and that means we have to use WL 4.5.1 (so
4.0.3 is not an option although it works well with Debugging with VC 3.1)
Any help or direction would really be appreciated. Thank you.

  • How to use Remote Debugging in JDeveloper 3.1 ?

I am trying to use the Remote Debugging option with EJBs in JDeveloper 3.1 with Oracle8i 8.1.6.
I checking all steps the online walkthrough for Remote Debugging EJB in 8i and it didn't work.
I'm using Oracle8i EJB/CORBA debug option in project properties, but it does not stop in my EJB's break points.
I tried deploying the EJB again ( with break points) and again it didn't work.
The error message I got in the trace file is:
    Errors in file D:\Oracle\admin\SCT\udump\sctS000.TRC:
ORA-29516: Aurora assertion failure: Java thread deadlock detected
Could someone please tell me how to use it?
    null

Which platform is the database running on ??
Other things you should check -
    when debugging the EJB, JDev
3.1 looks through your IIOP connections to find the one to use.
Make sure that the IIOP connection that JDev is using for the debugging matches the IIOP connection that the EJB client application is using.

  • Remote Debug in oas 4.0.8.2 using JDeveloper3.1

Now I can do remote debug using JDeveloper3.1 in Tomcat or WebLogic!
But I can not do remote debug in Oralce Application Server 4.0.8.2.
Who knows how to remote debug in OAS, mainly for how to configure OAS to support remote debug, please tell me as quickly as possible!
    I appreciate ... very much!!!!!!
We are using JDeveloper3.1 and OAS for our business application. So we must know how to remote debug in OAS with JDeveloper3.1.

In the JAva Environment settings for your OAS Application you should add the remote debugging name-value pairs using
    X_OPTION
    X_OPTION
    runjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,suspend=n,address=4000
    X_OPTION debug
    X_OPTION noagent
    JAVA_COMPILER NONE
    INITIAL_HEAP 32m
    MAX_HEAP 32m
After adding the configuration start the OAS and try to connect to remote OAS VM for JDeveloper
