According to the JDeveloper 3.2 readme.htm file. "You will not be able to deploy EJBs from JDeveloper 3.2 to Oracle8i Release 3 (8.1.7) on Solaris. We expect this to be fixed in the Solaris patchset 8.1.7.1. This problem does not exist on Oracle8i Release 3 (8.1.7) on Windows NT."
My question again is "Can this be done out-side of JDeveloper?". Instructions would be appreciated.

  • Remote debugging (jboss deployed) ejb using JDeveloper

    Hi there
Does anyone know how to remote debug an ejb deployed in JBoss using JDeveloper (or perhaps know of a link?)? All I can find is this from Oracle:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/appservers/debug_in_jboss.html
But the cmd to replace in the $bin\run.bat file to enable remote debugging doesn't exist in my version of JBoss (jboss-4.0.1RC1).
Can anyone shed some light here?

  • Procedure for hot deploying EJBs using  Jdeveloper and OC4J comtainer

i am using JDeveloper , please any one help me out in hot deploying EJBs. what is the procedure if i want to hot deploy EJBS

    1) You have to start OC4J with higher Java heap size e.g. java -Xms100m -Xmx150m -jar oc4j.jar
    2) The RMI port by default used is 23791 and configurable by modifying config/rmi.xml.

  • How can I develop EJBs using JDeveloper?

    Hi all.
How can I develop EJBs (entity beans) using JDeveloper and deploying them on WebLogic6x
    server?
Oracle says that JDeveloper enables to build and deploy applications to the WebLogic
    6x, but I can't do that with Entity Beans(CMP).
I established the connection to the WebLogic and to the DataBase and they work.
JDeveloper generate ejb-jar.xml and weblogic-ejb-jar.xml but not weblogic-cmp-rdbms-jar.xml.
How can I build all the necessary xml's files? What I have to do? Exist a pluging
    to integrate JDeveloper with WebLogic?
Thanks, and I hope your answers.

    hello,
in reports 6i the charts are created using oracle graphics which stores the chart definitions in a separate file (.OGD). there is not XML interface for graphics.
with reports 9i and the introduction of the BIgraphBean the definition of the chart-properties is also done in XML.
reports 9i will be available with iAS Release 2.

Am i made any mistake to deploye to jboss or it is not possiable to access the web service in such way?
please suggest me what is the procedure to recover from this.

    Hello,
How do you package you WS client application to be deployed in JBoss?
The JAX-RPC clients are not that portable you may need to recompile the client with JBoss WebService implementation/tools, and check that you do have the different deployment descriptors for the client too.

  • Deploying Session EJB From Jdev9i(Beta) - OC4J 9i

    Hi All ,
I wanted from u , i have recently Upgraded to Oracle 9i 1.0.2.2.1 (OC4J) . Now i want a simple Step wise process as how can i deploy my Ejb (Session Bean ) into the OC4J container and Use its DataSource .
Is it possible to deploy using Jdev 9i (Beta) .
Can any one please help me out to point to a Documentaion , give me a breif process .
    Regards
    Asif

    Asif -
Yes you can use Jdeveloper 9i beta to deploy your session ejb.
Step 1 should be setting up your Data Source. In the System
Navigator Panel expand the "Connections" listing. Right-click
on "Database" and select "New Connection..." - follow the
wizard's instructions to set up your data source. Step 2 should
be setting up a connection to the OC4J container - again on the
System Navigator Panel ->Connections->Application Servers -
follow the instructions there. I am assuming that you have
developed your session ejb using Jdeveloper, right click on
your .jpr entry (or wherever suits you) and choose "New..." then
Deployment Profiles. You need to package your session ejb into a
jar file and I would recommend packaging your jar file into an
ear file (it really helps for clean deployment). If you have a
web portion, package that and make it dependent on the jar file
just to keep it straight. Once you have these, you will be able
to right click on the jar or web file and deploy to an ear file,
or straight to the server. If this is what you are looking for,
you will then just select this and away you go.
Apparently there are some howtos here:
    http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/jdev/howto.html
although I don't know how good they are.
I wasn't quite sure what you were looking for so this post is
vague. If you have specific questions, let me know and I will
    try and answer them!
    Cheers
    Ray

  • Problems deploying a simple EJB on Weblogic 8.1 using JDeveloper

    Hey guys,
Title says it all. First I had one problem in that I could not test the connection to the Weblogic server. I moved the weblogic.jar file into the lib/ext folder and that test worked then. After that I wrote the EJB...a very simple one...and I followed the http://dev2dev.bea.com/pub/a/2006/01/wls-jdeveloper.html?page=1 tutorial so far. But when it came time to deploy the ejb to the server, I am getting this funky error:
ERROR: ejbc found errors while processing the descriptor for C:\oracle\jdeveloper\jdev\mywork\WeblogicApp\EchoEJB\deploy\ejb1.jar:
ERROR: Error from ejbc: Error processing 'META-INF/ejb-jar.xml': XML document does not appear to contain a properly formed DOCTYPE header
Honestly I am confused now...any one encounter that error?
    Thanks for all replies.
    Cheers

So I added the DOCTYPE and now I get another error. And that is as follows:
ERROR: Error from ejbc: Error parsing file 'META-INF/ejb-jar.xml' at line: 5 column: 219. Attribute "xmlns:xsi" must be declared for element type "ejb-jar".
It seems that when the EJB is created, then it automatically creates the appropriate ejb-jar.xml and for some reason I guess the one it is creating this time is not good enough for Weblogic because first the DOCTYPE was missing and then after inserting the DOCTYPE I am getting the above error. Any help would be appreciated. This is the first time I am using Weblogic and this is a rather disheartening amount of progress I have made since last night! ;(
Thanks in advance for any help. If I am doing something silly please point it out so I can learn!
    Cheers,
    Surya

  • How to create secure EJB web service in Oc4J using JDeveloper?

We are going to develop a EJB web service running in OC4J using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.
By using the JDeveloper feature, we can simply create the web service by using the "Web Service Endpoint Interface" in the session bean.
However, unlike the web service created from Java class, I can't find any option to change the security setting of this web service. We tried adding annotation like @DenyAll for testing, but there has no effect and related method can still be called without WS-Security header.
Now, we can only change the security setting via the web console after deployment (select the web service, then enable security in administration page, and then edit security configuration to change the inbound policies for authentication). It works in our local machine, but it may not work in the production environment as we cannot touch the em console.
May I know if there has any way to include the security setting inside the project?
    Thanks in advance.

If I am not wrong, you might be probably talking about this :
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B40099_02/books/EAI2/EAI2_WebServices33.html#wp179056
In order to implement the SOAP header, you would have to :
    (1) Define SOAP header in the wsdl of the service.
    (2) Add a new soap binding in the wsdl, which contains soap header and soap body.
I think, this should get you going..

    Chris,
Perhaps you should be checking if the user you wish to deploy
EJBs to has at least JAVAUSERPRIV.
    As SYSTEM
    grant JAVAUSERPRIV to <user>;
    Good luck

  • Entity EJB deployment on Oracle through JDeveloper 3.2

I have a project which is using Oracle 9iAS as the for the web server. There were intial plans to use the 8i database within the 9iAS machine as the place where the EJBs would be stored. There was a comment from the Oracle support people that the EJBs would be better off stored on the backend. We are trying to do the same.
We have experienced mainly two problems
    1) While trying to deploy the container managed beans through JDeveloper, just after creating the deployment profile, an error ORA - 00904 comes up. (no columns). Then there is a prompt to install BC4J. On doing that the error comes up again and while it goes further, it says 'Exhausted ResultSet'. But the BMP entity beans are working OK.
    2) We had a bug report from the Oracle people on entity bean support through JDeveloper on non-NT machines. But we have been trying to deploy beans on the Solaris DB using JDeveloper and we keep getting 'peer socket disconnected errors'. I'll try the workaround which was suggestesd by the Oracle people to solve the problem and get back on this.
I don't know how Oracle will measure up to the performance when EJBs are running. But the problems mentioned above would have to be solved first.
    Can anyone help out?
    Thanks in advance.

I can't resist a comment here. Oracle folks seem to always recommend putting the EJBs in back-end database. How many real-world enterprise-scale applications (i.e., one's that would need EJBs at all) have a non-shared back-end database? And in those cases, who in their right mind would accept running application code in the back-end database? I guess Oracle just hasn't really bought in to the concept of multi-tiered applications. The whole reason for separating the business logic tier from the EIS tier is to insulate the EIS services from the demands of the business logic code.
So from that perspective, I would highly recommend running an 8.1.7 instance in your middle tier to house your EJBs. Then you can hook up to your EIS tier either with database links, or (for better performance) by caching data in the EJB database from the EIS tier.
As for your specific issues, I can't help with the first. On issue 2, I am installing the 8.1.7.1 patch set today and I'll let you know if it fixes the JDeveloper --> Solaris deployment problem.
