Remote Debugging LiveCycle Trail Version

Hello,
I was trying to debug remotely using Eclipse. I uncommented all the batch files in jboss/bin directory to turn on debug options. When I ever I try to connect I get the following message.
Failed to connect to remote VM. Connection refused.
Connection refused: connect
I'm not able to auto-populate the xdp form with xml data when I retrieve the pdf so I was trying to remotely debug the application
I would appreciate if someone can point if I'm missing something.
Thanks
Sameera

I hope you figured this out already but if you haven't, the JDK for the
JBoss server is not listening to the same port as Eclipse is trying to
connect to. Or its not listening at all (your debug switches didn't work).

  • How to start listener in sql developer for remote debug

    how to start listener in sql developer for remote debug ? Since the new version 1.1.0.23 is different with the old version for remote debug, I don't know how to start the listener on the new version for remote debug.
    even follow the user guide below and not work . Experts on sql developer please help me with this.
    Remote Debugging
    To debug a procedure or function for a connection where the database is on a different host than the one on which you are
    running SQL Developer, you can perform remote debugging.
    Remote debugging involves many of the steps as for local debugging; however, do the
    following before you start the remote debugging: Use an Oracle client such as SQL*Plus to issue the debugger connection command. Whatever
    client you use, make sure that the session which issues the debugger connection commands is the same session which executes your PL/SQL
    program containing the breakpoints.
    For example, if the name of the remote system is remote1, use the following SQL*Plus command to open a
    TCP/IP connection to that system and the port for the JDWP session:
    EXEC DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP.CONNECT_TCP('remote1', '4000'); The first parameter
    is the IP address or host name of the remote system, and the second parameter is the port number on that remote system on which the debugger
    is listening.
    Right-click the connection for the remote database, select Remote Debug, and complete the information in the Debugger - Attach
    to JPDA dialog box. Then, follow the steps that you would for local debugging (for example, see Debugging a PL/SQL Procedure).
    Debugger - Attach to JPDA This dialog box is displayed when you right-click a database connection name and select Remote Debug.
    Use this
    dialog box if you are using the Sun Microsystem's Java Platform Debugger Architecture (JPDA) and you would like the debugger to listen so
    that a debuggee can attach to the debugger.
    For more information about remote debugging, see Remote Debugging.
    Host: Name or IP address of
    the remote host on which SQL Developer should listen for the database to connect.
    Port: Listening port number on the remote host. You can
    choose any valid port number that is not in use by another process.
    Timeout: The number of seconds that SQL Developer will wait for the
    remote database to make a debugging connection. Don't Show Dialog Box Before Connecting: If this option is checked, this dialog box will not
    be displayed before future connections for remote debugging

    You're not the only one:
    Not able to start remote debug listener

    I have downloaded a trail version of adobe acrobat pro and when I try to use it, it says that it cannot be edited in acrobat, please use adobe livecycle designer to edit this form. I can't work out what I need to do?

    Acrobat XI is not distributed with Designer. Designer is now a separate product. You can create forms in Acrobat as an AcroForm or using Forms Central (an online forms program). You can print the form to a new PDF and then recreate the fields in Acrobat using the recognize form fields. You will likely have to fix the form fields, but that would be the process. Generally, once a form is taken to Designer, you can't bring it back without such steps.
    Designer is available with AA8 - AAX, but since is a separate product as I indicated.

  • Remote Debugging (Jdev 10.1.3 to AS 10.1.3)

    Hi,
    I have been trying to do a remote debugging by connecting Jdeveloper (version 10.1.3 production) to AS 10.1.3 mid-tier but the OC4J instance seems to be crashing the moment the jdeveloper makes the connection. However, before the crash, jdeveloper takes about 5minutes to connect to the server.
    The OC4J is managed by opmn and not a standalone process. I am not sure if this makes any difference. Here are the changes that I made in the 10.1.3 server:
    *) Modified opmn.xml to add the below:
    <data id="java-options" value="-server -verbose:gc -Xmx512M -Xms128M -Xdebug -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,suspend=n,address=43503 -XX:MaxPermSize=128M -XX:NewRatio=2 -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps -XX:+UseTLAB -XX:ParallelGCThreads=2 -Djava.security.policy=$ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/oacore/config/java2.policy -Djava.awt.headless=true -Dhttp.webdir.enable=false"/>
    (also tried removing "-server" option)
    *) Modified orion-web.xml to add the below:
    <init-param>
    <param-name>debug_mode</param-name>
    <param-value>true</param-value>
    </init-param>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>developer_mode</param-name>
    <param-value>true</param-value>
    </init-param>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>encode_to_java</param-name>
    <param-value>true</param-value>
    </init-param>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>emit_debuginfo</param-name>
    <param-value>true</param-value>
    </init-param>
    <init-param>
    <param-name>jspjavacompiler</param-name>
    <param-value>oracle.jdevimpl.jsp.JspOjcCompiler</param-value>
    </init-param>
    *) Modified global-web-application.xml to add the below:
    <orion-web-app
    jsp-cache-directory="./persistence"
    servlet-webdir="/servlet"
    development="true" >
    I see the below message in the jdeveloper debug window when the OC4J instance crashes:
    Debuggee process virtual machine is Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM.
    Debuggee process is application server OC4J.
    To test JSPs or servlets, you must start a browser.
    Debugger disconnected from remote process.
    I do not see any error in application.log file.
    By setting up the remote debugging, I am hoping for a better portlet development experience.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Pandian.

    The doc is kind of vague, but here's the root reference:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25221_04/core.1013/b15976/opmnxml.htm#sthref144
    There's a FAQ document that prescribes how the "restart" algorithm works, see 1.3:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/ohs/htdocs/opmn-1013-faq.pdf
    So to tweak this behaviour, you specify a speciifc <ping> element inside of the opmn.xml for the managed process you are using -- and set the timeout, interval, retry attributes to some combination that gives you a longer pause time.

             </ias-component>Now I did just see something that is either a bug, or a doc error. In the doc, it shows the attributes of the <ping> tag to be: timeout, retry, interval. However when you configure opmn.xml with these, it report an error.
    Looking at the $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/conf/opmn.xsd file, it shows that only attributes are timeout and interval. You can't add a retry attribute. I'm not sure if this is a doc bug or an error in the XSD file.
    Anyways, using the timeout parameter, for your DEBUGGING phase (not production!) you should be able to bump that up to a higher value to allow OPMN to wait longer for a response from OC4J before it nukes it.

  • SQL Developer Hangs when connecting for Remote Debug

    Hello,
    I've been trying to use the Remote Debug feature of SQL Developer. We are writing a Web Application that connects to Oracle and I would like to debug a package function on the database server (which is not the same machine as my SQL Developer client).
    To test my configuration, I tried connecting on SQLPlus creating a connection (by calling exec dbms_debug_jdwp.connect_tcp('xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx', 'xxxxx'); ) and calling a function which had a breakpoint and the debugging started immediately on SQL Developer. Then I tried putting the dbms_debug_jdwp.connect_tcp('xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx', 'xxxxx'); call inside the stored procedure I was debugging (prior to the line with the breakpoint) and it connected and got to the breakpoint successfully as well. So I'm pretty sure my firewall / user privileges are set up correctly.
    So I modified the function that my web application eventually calls to create the connection (in order to remain in the same session) but whenever it gets to the connect_tcp line SQL Developer hangs and I'm unable to debug. I've realized that it only hangs if I have a breakpoint there. If I don't have a breakpoint then it creates a connection just fine. Of course without a breakpoint it's a bit difficult to debug isn't it? :)
    My Sql Developer version is 3.0 and I'm connecting to Oracle 11.1.0 Below you can find a dump when running SqlDeveloper with console. My OS is windows XP and my Oracle instance is running on Linux.
    I appreciate any help you can provide.

    What I mean is that I put the connect_tcp command inside the package function I want to debug in order to ensure it's going to remain in the same session. e.g.:
    Function GetValue Return Varchar2 Is
    Begin
    dbms_debug_jdwp.connect_tcp('xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx', '25255');
    return 'My Value';
    End;
    I'm afraid I cannot post our code which causes this problem due to our information security policies and simple console and web applications failed to replicate the problem. The function creates a connection to Oracle SQL Developer (which can be seen in the environment with the small ladybug icon) if no breakpoints are set which obviously doesn't allow breaking into the function. However if a breakpoint is also specified in the Return line the connection seems to freeze Oracle SQL Developer. No ladybug icon is shown and no Remote Debug Session seems to open.

  • Remote Debugging w/Eclipse Transport Error

    I am requesting help on a problem I am encountering using remote debugging with eclipse and Weblogic 8.1.2. I have successfully used remote debugging in the past with other application servers, but I have been unsuccessful with Weblogic 8.1.
    I have set the remote debugging options both on the weblogic start script as well as configured eclipse to connect to the port that was defined in the startup script (See Below). When I start the remote debugger within eclipse and it seems to connect properly. Once I set a break point or remove a break point, weblogic generates a "Transport error, error code = -1" and stops the debugger with in Eclipse.
    At this point I am at a loss of what is causing this error. I would appreciate any help on this issue.
    Operating System: WindowsXP Pro
    Weblogic Version: 8.1.2
    Eclipse 3.2
    JDK 1.4.2
    JAVA_OPTS: =-Xdebug -Xnoagent -Djava.compiler=NONE -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=7777,server=y,suspend=n
    Thanks!

    Interesting. I tried it and it works. you might want to check your Eclipse port number. In addition try netstat -a to see if port 1044 is active.
    This one might also help: http://www.jacoozi.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=119&Itemid=134
    Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Weblogic service pack 4 debug mode, for remote debugging

    Hi there,
    I am using WebLogic Enterprise 5.1 Service Pack 4 on NT. I would
    like to launch it in debug mode, so that I can debug some EJBs
    using JBuilder4. JBuilder supports WL SP 4 only.
    I installed JPDA and it is in path. When I try this command:

    I made a mistake. BEA's JavaServer DOES NOT today support the

    password stuff.
    Sorry to have mislead you.
    unless of course a BEA WLE guru in engineering has a trick that

    WLE does not have service packs, you must be using WLS - you should post this in a WLS newsgroup. WLE
    and WLS are 2 separate products.

  • Remote Debug Listener crashes

    Hi,
    I try to remote debug via SQL-Developer and create a remote debug listener in my first sqldeveloper.
    Then I use a second sqldeveloper and run the following statements as script everything works fine. My first sqldeveloper stops at the breakpoint and I can debug
    set serveroutput on;
    execute DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP.CONNECT_TCP('myIp',4010);
    declare
    begin
      do_something(2); -- in this function is a breakpoint set
    end;
    execute DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP.disconnect(' myIp ',4010);
    When I try to run the script e.g. in sqlplus I get following stacktrace in my first sqldeveloper console and the listener is closed

    Hi
    Has someone find an answer to this?
    Debugger attempting to connect to remote process at localhost 4000.
    ...............................Debugger unable to connect to remote process.This is the same message you get when you try to run a debug session under JDeveloper, but with OJVM, not JPDA.

  • Apex 4.1 remote debugging with dbms_debug_jdwp - breakpoints not working

    Hi all,
    I'm using remote debugging with sqldeveloper like described here:
    http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/de/community/apex/tipps/remote-debug/index.html
    http://sueharper.blogspot.com/2006/07/remote-debugging-with-sql-developer_13.html
    It works great with my sqldeveloper 3.0 and Apex 4.0.2
    Now i tried the same on two other servers with Apex 4.1
    The debugger is connecting. I can see the connect and diconnect message in the debug windows in the sqldeveloper.
    But the breakpoints are not working.
    Is the debugging working in Apex 4.1 for anyone here?
    Any ideas why the breakpoints are not working?
    BR,
    Björn

    Hi Björn,
    In your APEX application, have you tried updating the URL to include the parameter REMOTE, in order to initiate the remote debug connection? e.g.
    f?p=100:1:&SESSION.::REMOTE::Using the REMOTE parameter cuts out the need to specify debug code surrounding statements in the APEX PL/SQL.
    The steps are as follows:
    1) In SQL Developer, set break points in the the PL/SQL code, and compile using the "Compile for debug" option
    2) Execute the following two grants
    grant DEBUG CONNECT SESSION to <PARSE USER>;
    grant debug on <PROC> to public;  <-- might not need public but just whoever the DAD is running as.5) In SQL Developer, right-click on your connection and select the "Remote Debug..." context menu item. This will launch the "Listen for JPDA" dialog.
    5) Run the APEX Application page containing/activating the code you wish to debug, and update its URL with REMOTE in the debug parameter of the URL, and then hit Enter.
    6) Carry out the action on the page to trigger the breakpoint in your code e.g. submit the page, or click a button on the page, and you should be redirected to the breakpoint in the code in SQL Developer.
    Although I'm running with the latest release of SQL Developer, version 3.2.2 (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/downloads/index.html), and APEX 4.2, the 'REMOTE' parameter was introduced with our 3.1 release so will also be available for you to use in 4.1.
    Regards,
    Hilary

  • Remote debug - PL/SQL web forms

    I’m working with a third-party product (Banner from Ellucian, formerly Sunguard Higher Education) which involves several large packages working together. Buried deep within all of these package functions/procedures are calls to the standard Oracle HTP and HTP packages, in order to generate HTML dynamically. There are also web cookies and CGI environment variables involved in several package procedures’ logic, so I can’t “fake” the web environment in SQL Developer and have the procedures complete successfully. I have to run the web environment that calls these procedures that generate HTML. The general idea behind what the end result of the code is that a web page is dynamically produced from PL/SQL. The web url would look something like http://.../[packagename].[packageprocedurename] (for example http://localhost/wccregchk.p_check).
    I've been able to trigger remote debugging once using SqlPlus as the external session, but the packages are so tied to the web environment that procedures/functions won’t fully work if I run them from a non-web environment. I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to be able to debug the code when run from the web browser, but I haven’t been able to figure out where to put the block or how to run the block necessary to setup the external debugging session in my package procedures.
    This post pretty much nails what I’m trying to accomplish using SQL Developer, as I’m working with the same Banner product:
    http://www.orafaq.com/forum/t/127160/0/
    I'd like to be able to remote debug these package procedures/functions in SQL Developer. I've asked the same question to the TOAD people and it's not a supported feature with them. Does anyone have any idea how to do it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

    All my Web PL/SQL generator stuff is in 10g R2. I did have to make sure that I ran the Web PL/SQL installer to make sure I had the latest versions of the WSGL package and its companions.
    Why? Are you having a problem?

  • Remote debugging from Windows to Linux

    Is there a full description of every step needed to do remote cross-platform C++ debugging? I'm using the Indigo version of Eclipse CDT on Windows and would like to debug an application on a remote Linux machine.
    On Windows, I do not have the ability to install a compiler or cygwin, but I do have plink and ssh on Windows. I am able to access the remote machine via RSE SFTP (a la stackoverflow.com/questions/4216822/work-on-a-remote-project-with-eclipse-via-ssh). I do have VNC but I find that the Eclipse IDE is very unresponsive under that setup, hence the desire to develop and debug from a native Windows app.
    This FAQ is the most complete (wiki.eclipse.org/CDT/User/FAQ#How_do_I_debug_a_remote_application.3F), but doesn't discuss how to deal with Windows using backslash paths and having a different filesystem root compared to Linux and its forward slashes.
    I am able to get a remote connection by playing around with the suggestions here (www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php?S=5e54b35462bb80f79ebb9fbbaf93a288&t=msg&th=173880), resulting in console output that looks like:
    Last login: Fri Apr 6 20:19:09 2012 from foo.bar.com
    echo $PWD'>'
    /usr/bin/gdbserver :12345 /linux/path/to/my/binary args_to_my_binary;exit
    but it fails with "Error while launching command: gdb --version"
    The old FAQ is very incomplete and seems out of date: wiki.eclipse.org/TM_and_RSE_FAQ#How_can_I_do_Remote_Debugging_with_CDT.3F
    This suggests it's possible but does not have sufficient details on how to set the myriad configuration options in Eclipse: stackoverflow.com/questions/6044138/remote-debugging-in-eclipse-cdt
    I suspect many people would benefit if there was a clear set of instructions in one place on how to make this happen.
    --Gerald Dalley

    OK. I just spent the last two days figuring this out, so here are step-by-step instructions that hopefully will help others (This list is unusually anal by the standards of this group, but really simple concrete instructions would have helped me).
    on the target linux box, make sure you have gdbserver. If you don't, get the gdb sources. Note: Making gdb does not build gdbserver. Instead, you have to go into the gdbserver directory and configure/make there.
    Run gdb on the linux box. In the startup banner, it will say what its target is. This will be something like x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu or i686-pc-linux-gnu. Remember this for later.
    Install MinGW on your Windows box (I had trouble building gdb on cygwin, so I recommend MinGW).
    Download expat from http://sourceforge.net/projects/expat/files/expat/2.1.0/.Note: Do not download the Windows expat installer. Download the sources instead.
    In the expat directory. "./configure --enable-shared", make, make install.
    Download the gdb sources
    ../gdb-7.4/configure --with-expat --target=x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu --host=i686-pc-mingw32
    make, make install
    Time to test. On your linux box, create and compile hello.cpp to hello.
    On your linux box, gdbserver :4444 hello
    Note:If you are on a corporate network, non-standard ports may be blocked. Set up an ssh tunnel if necessary.
    Copy hello.cpp and hello to your Windows machine
    From the MinGW prompt, run "x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu-gdb ./Hello" Note: Substitute the name of the gdb you built as appropriate based on the target platform you got in step 2.
    In gdb, load the executable with "file hello"
    target remote localhost:4444 Note: This assumes that you have an ssh tunnel on localhost. Modify appropriately.
    Verify that gdb commands like break, cont, and run work here.
    Now we want to run it from outside of MinGW. In Control Panel/System/Advanced/Environment Variables add something like E:\MinGW\bin to the path. This is necessary for the loader to find libiconv_2.dll, etc. Now verify that you can do the preceding step from an ordinary Windows command prompt.
    Launch Eclipse (finally!). New debug configuration C/C++ attach to process.
    In Main, give path to the copy of the Linux executable on the Windows system.
    In Debugger tab, set Debugger dropdown to gdbserver. Set "GDB debugger" to something like "E:\MinGW\msys\1.0\local\bin\x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu-gdb.exe" based on where your gdb is. For Connection, choose TCP and fill in the hostname and port number you've been using from gdb in the previous steps.
    Make sure gdbserver is running (it often quits when the program ends) and launch the debug configuration
    In the gdb console, enter "file hello," "break main," and cont or run (sometimes it wants one. Sometimes the other) and voila, you should be there.
    Let me know if this works, and I'll post it somewhere better.
    Good luck,
    Mike
