Remote deployment using JSC

Can anyone help me understand why I can't remotely deploy my JSC projects from on computer to another? I have tried using Sun JAS 8.1, 8.2, and Glassfish but not one shows up for remote deployment from JSC after I've added them.

Marco,
Thanks for the pointers on Glassfish, I had turned my attention to it since I couldn't get the bundled Solaris 10 appserv to work - Thanks for saving me the wasted effort!
I removed Glassfish, and reinstalled 8.2, I also downloaded a fresh JSC2update1 to replace my updated JSC2 original, and tada the thing appears!
Hopefully, I can finally get some serious mileage out of JSC!

  • Question related to remote weblogic deployment using wldeploy task

    Problem Description: Iam trying to perform a remote deployment using wldeploy task from one of the unix box(this box does not have a weblogic instance at all) to a remote unix weblogic server. I get the following connection exception. This script works fine when I do a remote deployment from my windows machine(this has a local weblogic server)to the same remote unix weblogic server.
    Question:
    1. Do I need to have a weblogic instance locally where this wldeploy task is executing?
    2. What configuration should be done in the remote weblogic server to support remote deployment?
    The ant task is:
    <property name="wlantjars" value="/ftmp/users/usrgrb/tmp/antjars" />
    <path id="wlappc.classpath">
    <fileset dir="${wlantjars}">
    <include name="*.jar"/>
    </fileset>
    </path>
    <taskdef name="wldeploy" classpathref="wlappc.classpath" classname="weblogic.ant.taskdefs.management.WLDeploy"/>
    <target name="deployear_dev2">
    <wldeploy user="weblogic" password="*******" adminurl="t3://he3unxd189v01:9100" action="deploy" upload="true" remote="true" source="${build.dir}/mktpx.ear" name="mktpx" targets="devCluster" />
    </target>
    I receive the following error when I execute the ant task "deployear_dev2"
    Buildfile: build.xml
    deployear_dev2:

    Few Things:
    1). When I execute the ant build from a remote box , should I have a weblogic server running...the reason I ask is..does the wldeploy task work only if there is an active weblogic domain in the local machine. When I execute the same build from my windows machine where I have a local instance of weblogic , it works uccessfully .Whenever you try to deploy any application on WebLogic Domain then the Admin Server must be running. Because the deployment entries goes inside the "config.xml" and the original copy of this file is maintained by AdminServer only. So the Admin Server must be running for any kind of configuration changes or for Deployment.
    2). I am told that http protocol is not an option in my work place and I have to use t3 protocol only. In that case, based on the error below, is it possible that the connection between my local unix box and the remote weblogic box is stricted? How to I test the connectivity using t3? I pinged the server from the local unix server and it came back with reply, but could not telnet to that remote box nor ftp to that box does not work.You can check t3 protcol is working fine or not by using the following one line command:
    java weblogic.Admin -url t3://he3unxd189v01:9100 -username weblogic  -password weblogic    PING
    If above command fails to ping the server it means either you are using a wrong HostName & Port OR your N/W is doesnot allow t3 protocol connections OR there may be a N/W Issue.

  • Remote Deployment permissions

    Hi all,
    I want to do a remote deployment from my pc to a cluster on different machines using the admin_client.jar file.
    The example in the OC4J Deployment Guide is this :
    java -jar admin_client.jar
    deployer:oc4j:opmn://test-cycle.oracle.com/testunit
    oc4jadmin_ welcome1+
    -deploy
    -file d:\temp\rupg\testru.ear
    -deploymentName testru –bindAllWebApps
    As you can see the example uses the oc4jadmin account to do a remote deployment.
    That also works for me. However, when I use another test account that is not a member of the oc4j-administrators+ role (see system-jazn-data.xml) I get the following error:
    +FINER: RMIConnection.writeDisconnectMessage Preparing to send disconnect message: Login failed Not authorized*+
    FINE: RMIClient.lookup Failed during lookupjavax.naming.AuthenticationException: Not authorized
    at oracle.oc4j.rmi.ClientRmiTransport.connectToServer(ClientRmiTransport.java:100)
    +...+
    I already tried making the test account a member of the oc4j-app-administrators+ role. This gives the test account only com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIPermission Login.
    However, a -validateURI or -deploy using the admin_client.jar still failes.
    So my question is : Is there a list available somewhere of all the (jazn) permissions needed to do a remote deployment ? I couldn't find such a list in the deployment guide (10.1.3.4.0) ...
    Regards,
    Ronald Wouters

    I found a solution to this problem.
    The problem was that I was trying to do a remote deploy NOT to the default "home" oc4j instance but to another oc4j instance that I created in the same application server instance. I had given my test user only "RMIPermission login". However, this test user was defined only in the system-jazn-data.xml of the "home" oc4j instance.
    I simply copied this xml over to the other oc4j instance, thereby setting up the same users, roles and permissions in the new oc4j instance as in the home instance.
    After restarting the appserver, remote deployment using my test account worked just fine.
    I'm pretty sure this is not the "official" way to do this because in a production environment you would probably not even have write permissions to the directory containing these xml files.
    Can anyone tell me if the javasso stuff that I read about in the config and admin manual could be the "official" way to solve this kind of problem ? Or am I way off base here ?
    Any insight would be much appreciated.
    Regards.

  • Deploy using remote server

    hi,
    i need to inform about the following:
    i installed creator 2005Q1 and i want to use a remore server for deployment so is it enough to install sun application server enterprise edition 2005Q1 on the server without the IDE and do i need to do some configurations on that server ???
    Best Regards,

    Hi,
    Please go through the tutorial titled "Deploying to a Sun Java System Application Server" which is available at:http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/learning/tutorials/2/appserverdeploy.html
    Also, you could go through the Remote Deployment in the Sun Java Studio Creator 2 IDE. This is available at:http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/reference/fi/2/remote-deploy.html
    Hope this helps.

  • Remote Deployment from JDeveloper using "Parent Application"

    Hi,
    I am newbie in remote deployment (from JDeveloper). I would like to deploy my application in the OAS 10g, but I want to set the "Parent Application" in a different value than default.
    Is it possible?
    Where could I find documentation of remote deployment alternatives (I cannot use the "dcmctl" command directly for security reasons)...
    Best regards and thank you in advance for your help.

  • How do I activate Office 2013 that I have deployed using ODT and App-V onto a Remote Desktop Server?

    I am setting up a demo Server 2012 R2 environment (1 DC server, 2 RDSH servers, 1 App-V server).
    I have created an Office 2013 volume license App-V package using the latest Office Deployment Toolkit. I have deployed the App-V package to an RDS server and it all works fine. However, I am unable to activate Office 2013 using the MSDN Office 2013 retail
    key because it tells me the product key is invalid for this version of Office. I've looked at the alternative of using the App-V Sequencer to create the Office 2013 package, but from what I've read this is not a Microsoft supported method.
    Is there any way that I can activate Office 2013 (volume license on RDS) using the method I've outlined above, or is there any way of using the Office2013 download from MSDN such that it can be packaged by the ODT (or App-V Sequencer) for successful deployment
    using App-V and activation using the retail Office 2013 product key on MSDN?

    True, VL channel media can't be activated with MSDN Retail pkeys (that's what I was trying to get you to understand, I figured you would be attempting that, as so many people do :(
    I've not attempted your scenario myself.
    It sounds like you aren't following the supported scenarios as (poorly) described by MS;
    The way I read their guide, for an RDS scenario, you must use a VL key [either MAK or KMS] (since a subscription product+key can't be used on RDS):
    i.e.: <Product ID="ProPlusVolume">
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2772509
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2915745
    http://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn481351.aspxhttp://blogs.technet.com/b/office_resource_kit/archive/2013/12/02/announcing-app-v-5-0-sp2-support-for-office-2013-volume-licensing-editions.aspx
    So, that all means that for RDS, you can't use anything other than VL "product" (in
    the form of an ODT-generated output) with a VL pkey. So, for your RDS demo setup, you need to use real product and real pkeys.

  • Sharepoint 2010 Remote Development using Visual Studio 2013 Connection Errors

    I have a customer who is using a custom skinned site developed in Sharepoint 2010.
    I am trying to debug a webpart that is not loading on a page.
    My Environment:
    Local Laptop running Win 7 64 Enterprise, Visual Studio 2013, and Sharepoint Designer 2010.
    I connect to the customers network via VPN and use RDP to access the server. I have Admin rights to the server.
    Everything that I have read indicates that Web Part dev has to be done in VS. When I try to connect using server explorer, VS kicks back a 'Server Can not be found' error.
    I have tried using the computer name, the app url listed in SP Central Admin, the IP address of the box, and the actual URL of the site. However, VS can not connect to the server.
    I have done some homework on connecting VS to a remote machine:

    The last connection article is confusing because one of the SO answers indicates that you do not need to have SP2010 installed.
    I have been doing lots of reading on SP structure, and it seems to jump all over the place. (Or at least my research does). I have been reading this Ebook:
    SharePoint 2010 Development with Visual Studio 2010
    http://books.google.com/books/about/SharePoint_2010_Development_with_Visual.html?id=TVKICs4vHTcC
    My questions are:
    Why cant I connect to the Server if I connected through VPN which would inherently make the server a local network computer?
    Do I need to have VS installed on the actual server? I read that I can install Sharepoint Foundation locally and this will give me access to the server in VS.
    Do I need to have the full version of VS installed in order to use Remote Tools?
    For the Web Parts:
    Why cant I see the web parts in Sharepoint Designer? I take it they are exclusively designed in VS, which brings me back to the questions above.
    In Sharepoint Designer, I can see a custom view that was created from a custom list. I want to add that list to the page where the web part isnt working. When I open up the Edit Interface, and try to find that list, it does not display in the 'Lists and Libraries'
    menu

    Hello,
    As per your description, remote deployment is not possible for server side code in sharepoint so if you are using server object model then you won't be able to debug or deploy your solution from visual studio.
    VS is not required to installed on UAT/prod server but you need sharepoint along with visual studio in same development machine to develop any custom webpart.
    Once you deploy your custom webpart on site then you will be able to see that webpart in webpart gallery and that gallery is also available in designer so it means you can also add your custom webpart from designer to any page.
    Correct me if i misunderstood you

  • Setting up remote deployment sever

    I am trying to set up a remote deployment server in my JSC. Actually the deployment server (Java System Web Server) and the database server (MySQL server) are running in the localhost. I have done all the work but configuring the datasource.
    I need the JNDI name to configure the datasource. How can I find the JNDI name of the datasource?
    Thank you very much.

    The JNDI name of the datasource would same as datasource name you have consumed in Creator web application.
    Check out the Intgerating JDBC Driver and Configuring Connection Pool Configuration sections in this deployment tutorial, it should apply to Sun Java System Web Server as well

  • Remote deploys from Windows to Linux fail with deployment plans on WLS 10.0

    Hi there,
    We're using WLS 10.0.1 running in a RHEL environment (actually CentOS release 4.7 for development), and attempting to perform remote deploys from Windows work stations using the weblogic.Deployer ant task.
    It works fine when not using deployment plans, or when performing a remote deploy from a unix based work station such as a Mac. However, introducing a deployment plan causes a failure only when run from Windows.
    The log trace follows:
    weblogic.Deployer -debug -remote -verbose -upload -noexit -name obpservices -source C:\work\obf\ver4.0\services\target\obpservices.war -targets obEnterpriseServer -adminurl t3://wlsdev:7001 -user weblogic -password ******** -redeploy -plan C:\work\obf\ver4.0\services/src/runtime/deployment-plans/steves-deployment-plan.xml

    Note the file path that cannot be found: "\opt\bea\user_projects\domains\obportal_domain\servers\AdminServer\upload\obpservices\plan\steves-deployment-plan.xml ".
    Of course this file does actually exist when the correct path separators are used.
    Is this a bug? Is there anything we can do about it? The chances of us upgrading WLS are very remote unfortunately.
    Thanks in advance,

    This is something you should definitely file an Oracle support ticket for. It's entirely possible there's a patch for this.

  • Remote deployment to Oracle10g AS 10.1.3

    How do I migrate existing deployment scripts for 9.0.4 to 10.1.3. Below is my current scripts which doesn't seems to work on 10.1.3.
    java -jar oc4j_remote_deploy.jar ... http://localhost:1810/Oc4jDcmServletAPI/ ...

    Hello,
    OracleAS 10g R3 (10.1.3) is a J2EE 1.4 compliant container of provide all the deployment, management and monitoring capabilities using JMX and related JSRs (77 for administration and monitoring; 88 for deployment).
    In 10.1.3, the utility to use do to remote deployment is to use the admin_client.jar that is available in the j2ee/home directory of: the stand alone OC4J, managed OracleAS or JDeveloper.In addition to the command line interface we also provide out of the box support for deployment using apache Ant.
    Here some document:
    - Deploying with the admin_client.jar Utility
    - Deploying with the OC4J Ant Tasks
