Remote EJB 3 lookup error in Sun JAS 9.01

Hello,
I have a very simply EJB 3 deployed to a remote SJAS 9.01 (say, in the host "Jupiter") that has only one remote business interface that returns a string. The JNDI name is "mypackage.MyBean".
On a local host (named "Earth", local) there is a simple App Client:
package appCliente;
import javax.ejb.EJB;
public class SlessAppClient {
@EJB (mappedName="corbaname:iiop:jupiter:3700#mypackage.MyBean")
private static mypackage.MyBeanRemote bean;
public static void main(String args[]) {
     System.out.println(" *** My Bean : " + bean.hello());
This works fine (i.e. with injection).
What must I do to change this to a "lookup" to use with dinamic (runtime) lookup?
I suppose it should be like this:
package appCliente;
import javax.ejb.EJB;
public class SlessAppClient {
// Do not use injection:
////// @EJB /////(mappedName="corbaname:iiop:jupiter:3700#mypackage.MyBean")
private static mypackage.MyBeanRemote bean;
public static void main(String args[]) {
          Properties props = new Properties();
     props.setProperty("org.omg.CORBA.ORBInitialHost", "jupiter");
          InitialContext ic = new InitialContext(props);
          sless = (MyBeanRemote) ic.lookup("mypackage.MyBean");
     System.out.println(" *** My Bean : " + bean.hello());
But this doesn't work!!!
(After getting something like this working, let's change to the "no parameters" InitialContext)
Tried the Glassfish EJB FAQs suggestions, but didn't work either.
Please, anybody has any suggestions?
Thanks for any help.

Thanks
I added appserv-rt.jar file in classpath and run the code
code is like this
@EJB(name="192.168.0.32/TemperatureBean")
private static TemperatureRemote temperatureBean;
private static TemperatureRemote convert;
URL url;
JFrame frame=new JFrame("Temperature Converter");
JPanel p=new JPanel();
JLabel label1=new JLabel("Enter temperature");
JTextField text=new JTextField();
JLabel label2=new JLabel();
JButton button=new JButton("Convert");
It gives me following exception

  • Stand alone client for remote EJB corba error

    Regarding problem below, I've checked System env variables
    that weblogic server is using for CORBA classes:
    javax.rmi.CORBA.UtilClass=weblogic.iiop.UtilDelegateImpl
    org.omg.CORBA.ORBSingletonClass=weblogic.corba.orb.ORB
    org.omg.CORBA.ORBClass weblogic.corba.orb.ORB
    javax.rmi.CORBA.PortableRemoteObjectClass=weblogic.iiop.PortableRemoteObjectDelegateImpl
    But these are server classes and not found in wlclient.jar and wljmsclient.jar. What classes should be used for client? What needs to be set in order to get successful remote RMI/EJB call to weblogic server?
    Original post:
    I have a stand alone spring client for simple stateless session EJB deployed on weblogic 9.2. I'm using spring (jdk 1.5) to call this remote EJB and the only way I can succeed is to have full weblogic.jar in my bootstrap classpath. Otherwise I get corba error:
    CORBA BAD_PARAM 0 No; nested exception is:
    org.omg.CORBA.BAD_PARAM: vmcid: 0x0 minor code: 0 completed: No
    Interestingly, within same client I have JMS call to weblogic JMS and that fails if weblogic.jar is in boot classpath. Getting rid of weblogic.jar from boot classpath works if I have wlclient.jar and wljmsclient.jar in regular classpath (as per weblogic docs). I would think that for stand alone client all I would need is to weblogic client jars, why should I need to have full weblogic.jar?
    I can't get those work together with same classpath. I wonder if anybody has some pointers and/or advice. I was looking to set system parameters for corba for weblogic client that maybe could help:
    org.omg.CORBA.ORBClass
    org.omg.CORBA.ORBSingletonClass
    javax.rmi.CORBA.UtilClass
    javax.rmi.CORBA.StubClass
    javax.rmi.CORBA.PortableRemoteObjectClass
    But I can't find definitive answer.
    Regards,
    -pp

    I'm stuck exactly with the same issue while trying to port my application from weblogic to jboss.
    I tried to specify different ORB implementations (JacORB, OpenORB) for jvm option org.omg.CORBA.ORBClass, but JBoss couldn't get them instantiated. Native Sun implementation which is used in JBoss by default and can be instantiated, apparently is not fully compatible with weblogic security module.
    So did you manage to find out the solution?

    Hi Jason,
    Below is the sample.....You can use this..
    JAXBElement<Task> root = null;
              try {
                   ByteArrayInputStream input = new ByteArrayInputStream(
                             xmlStr.getBytes());
                   JAXBContext jc = JAXBContext.newInstance(Task.class);
                   Unmarshaller u = jc.createUnmarshaller();
                   StreamSource sc = new StreamSource(new StringReader(
                             xmlStr.toString()));
                   root = u.unmarshal(new StreamSource(input), Task.class);
              } catch (Exception e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();

  • EJB lookup on Remote Server or different domain fails

    Hi,
    I am having two different domain (domain1,domain2) respectvely. My ABC.ear j2eee application is deployed on domain2 and its iiop port is 33703.In domain1 i have xyz.war (web application) and it's IIOP port is 3700 .In xyz.war i am having CallEJB.jsp file.In this Jsp file i want to lookup an EJB Service called PaymentEJB(JNDI Name is ejb/PaymentEJB).
    The code is below
    InitialContext context=new InitialContext();
    Object objRef=context.lookup("corbaname:iiop:andaman:33703#ejb/PaymentEJB");
    I am getting the following error.
    [#|2005-12-14T16:42:03.422+0530|SEVERE|sun-appserver-pe8.1_02|javax.enterprise.resource.corba._DEFAULT_.rpc.transport|_ThreadID=11;|"IOP00410216: (COMM_FAILURE) Unable to create IIOP listener on the specified host/port: all interfaces/3700"

    at com.sun.corba.ee.impl.logging.ORBUtilSystemException.createListenerFailed(ORBUtilSystemException.java:2661)
    My doubt is
    1.While starting domain1 and domain2 iiop listeners are started on the port 3700 and 33703.in that case why EJB lookup tries to create listener on one more time.
    2.I am looking the 33703 port only.but it tries to create port on 3700 why?
    3.It was working till JES2005Q1.Is there any patch i need to install? or i need to change anything in my code.
    I am frustrated with this error for past one week.I will be happy if some body will give me the peace of mind(thru some solution).

    Hi
    I found the solution for this issue.
    To lookup the EJB applications in web component,we should not set any thing in the Initial Context.i.e the lookup should be
    InitialContext initContext=new InitialContext();
    Object objref = initContext.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/"+ejbName_);
    This will get you the Home object of the EJB you are looking.
    In your web.xml you should have the entry like below.(Just replace the ejbname which you are looking for)
    <ejb-ref>
    <ejb-ref-name>ejb/GetAssertionEJB</ejb-ref-name>
    <ejb-ref-type>Session</ejb-ref-type>
    <home>com.ssertion.GetAssertionHome</home>
    <remote>com.assertion.GetAssertionRemote</remote>
    </ejb-ref>
    In your sun-wb.xml,you should have the entry like below(Just replace the ejbname which you are looking for)
    <ejb-ref>
    <ejb-ref-name>ejb/GetAssertionEJB</ejb-ref-name>
    <jndi-name>corbaname:iiop:<hostname>:<iiopport>#ejb/GetAssertionEJB</jndi-name>
    </ejb-ref>
    Hope this works.

  • Invoking Remote EJB (not as module in Workshop)

    Hi,
    Help required please...
    I am trying to integrate WLS 8.1 with WLS 7.0, i.e. invoking EJB running in 7.0 from 8.1.
    While creating a EJB Control in Workshop, its listing only the ejbs deployed as modules. But as my EJB is running in 7.0 I have just imported my Remote and Home (in Libraries). But EJB Control doesn't look to recognise it.
    Any solution!!!
    Thanks in advance
    Kirupa

    Then I have to worry about caching home object and also should take care of stale home's in my code (which I am reluctant to do).
    I am just wondering, if Workshop EJB Control supports Remote EJB lookup, then why are they not identifying clients with ejb home and remote.

    Please help. The problem does not occur with Integrated WLS. I think the config scripts are correctly running from JDev.

    Hi,
    It's not easy to tell what's wrong with your example.
    Maybe you could send me a zip and I'll check when I have some time.
    By the way, you're asking a question about the lookup of an EJB3, I wrote an article that covers that topic.
    It should give you some interesting input.

    I assume here that your application is deployed on a different physical machine of where LCES is deployed and running.
    Do the following test:
    - Say that LCES is deployed on machine1 and your application is deployed on machine2. Ping machine1 from machine2 and note the ip address.
    - Ping machine1 from machine1 and note the ip address.
    The two pings should match.
    - Ping machine2 from machine1 and note the ip address.
    - Ping machine2 from machine2 and note the ip address.
    The two pings should match.
    Usually this kind of error would happen if your servers have internal and external ip addresses.

    I have a simple Hello method as well in my WebService (which is also
    restricted) and it works fine, but remote EJB access doesn't. I tested my
    prototype on Weblogic 7.2 and 8.1 platforms - same result.
    Is that a bug or I am missing some additional configuration in order to get
    that working. Has anyone seen similar behavior? Is there a known resolution?
    Or a suggested way to work around the problem?
    Thank you.

    Andre,
    It would be best if this issue is handled as an Eval Support case. Please
    BEA Customer Support at http://support.beasys.com along with the required
    files, and request that an Eval support case be created for this issue.
    Thanks

    Any other ideas?

    Andre,
    It seems you are using the URL
    jndi:t3://secuser1:[email protected]:7131/AccountDelegatorEJB
    whereas you should not be specifying the "t3:" protocol.
    The URL should be like
    jndi://secuser1:[email protected]:7131/AccountDelegatorEJB
    Please do let me know if you see any issues with this.
    Note that this will only allow you to access remote EJBs in the same WLS
    domain. For accessing EJBs on another domain, you need to configure
    inter-domain communication by
    following a few simple steps as mentioned at
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/ConsoleHelp/jta.html#1106135. This link has
    been provided in the EJB Control Workshop documentation.

    Andre,
    Can you try using the following url with username and password
    jndi://username:password@host:7001/my.resource.jndi.object ?
    once you add webapp level security, the authenticated is the user who
    invokes the EJB.
    http://e-docs.bea.com/workshop/docs81/doc/en/workshop/guide/controls/ejb/con
    CreatingANewEJBControl.html?skipReload=true
    has more info on using remote EJB's.
    Hope this helps.

    Hello everyone,
    I developed a Web Service prototype accessing remote EJB using the EJB
    control with special syntax in the jndi-name attribute: @jws:ejb
    home-jndi-name="t3://10.10.245.70:7131/AccountDelegatorEJB"
    Everything works fine, but I get an error when I restrict access to my
    web
    service with a declarative security model by implementing steps
    provided
    in

    - Define the web resource you wish to protect
    - Define which security role is required to access the web resource
    - Define which users are granted the required security role
    - Configure WebLogic Server security for my web service(Compatibility
    Security/Users)
    I launch the service by entering the address in a web browser. Whenprompted
    to accept the digital certificate, click Yes, when prompted for
    network
    authentication information, enter username and password, navigate tothe
    Test Form tab of Test View, invoke the method by clicking the buttonand

    The procedure apex_cdc.enable_table_capture i created myself with no authid mentioned explicitly, so it uses definer rights, by default.
    BUt this procedure is simply a wrapper for sys.dbms_cdc_publish.create_change_table.
    When I look on the security model for this sys.dbms_cdc_publish, i see it runs under invoker rights. (http://www.psoug.org/reference/dbms_cdc_publish.html).
    The code is like this:

  • JNDI EJB Lookup fails on Remote Server

    Hi,
    I am having two different domain (domain1,domain2) respectvely.
    InitialContext context=new InitialContext();
    Object objRef=context.lookup("corbaname:iiop:andaman:33703#ejb/PaymentEJB");
    I am getting the following error.
    [#|2005-12-14T16:42:03.422+0530|SEVERE|sun-appserver-pe8.1_02|javax.enterprise.resource.corba._DEFAULT_.rpc.transport|_ThreadID=11;|"IOP00410216: (COMM_FAILURE) Unable to create IIOP listener on the specified host/port: all interfaces/3700"
    org.omg.CORBA.COMM_FAILURE: vmcid: SUN minor code: 216 completed: No
    at com.sun.corba.ee.impl.logging.ORBUtilSystemException.createListenerFailed(ORBUtilSystemException.java:2661)
    My doubt is
    1.While starting domain1 and domain2 iiop listeners are started on the port 3700 and 33703.in that case why EJB lookup tries to create listener on one more time.

  • Error acceessing remote EJB 2.0 from OSB

    Hi All,
    I am trying to access a remote EJB(2.0) from OSB. When i am trying to connect to the EJB i am getting this error.
    "java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect; No available router to destination"
    I have built the WSDl based on the client jar that is provided and then configured the JNDI Provider. Then I provided the endpoint EJB URL in the following format.
    ejb:JNDIProviderName:ConnectionfactoryName:JNDIName.
    Let me know if i have missed out any configuration in order to access EJB. Your help is appreciated as we are struck in SIT.
    Thanks,
    B
    .

    Strange question. If you know EJB 2 and you know EJB 3, you should be able to answer this question yourself. If you don't know one of the two, you shouldn't be asking this question but hitting the books.
    As for the errors you are getting, the error couldn't be more clear:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/fammllc/exceptions/LubeNominationExceptionIt doesn't even have something to do with EJBs, its a simple case of class not found. The warning is more odd as the EJB 3 spec defines that transactions should default to REQUIRED, not "NOT_SUPPORTED". If EJB 3 would really be in play here, you wouldn't be getting this warning. Its probably a case of "read the manual" - the manual of whatever container you are using (I'm guessing Weblogic, which has its own forum here: https://forums.oracle.com/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=193).

  • How to use JNDI to lookup remote EJB Home?

    Hello,
    I am writing a servlet to call a remote EJB on another machine.
    I use JNDI to lookup remote EJBHome (not) but fail.
    Any advice?
    Any trick to configure application-client.xml?
    Thanks!

    Use com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory instead
    Here an example
    // EmployeeClient.java
    package mypackage5;
    import javax.ejb.*;
    import javax.naming.*;
    import javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import java.rmi.RemoteException;
    import com.evermind.server.ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory;
    import com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory;
    * A simple client for accessing an EJB.
    public class EmployeeClient
    public static void main(String[] args)
    System.out.println("EmployeeClient.main(): client started...");
    try
    * initialize JNDI context by setting factory, url and credential
    * in a hashtable
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
    //env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.evermind.server.ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory");
    env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "ormi://koushikm:23791/application4");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "admin");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "admin");
    * or set these properties in jndi.properties
    * or use container defaults if that's where client got launched from
    Context context = new InitialContext(env);
    * Lookup the EmployeeHome object. The reference is retrieved from the
    * application-local context (java:comp/env). The variable is
    * specified in the assembly descriptor (META-INF/application-client.xml).
    Object homeObject =
    context.lookup("HelloEJB");
    System.out.println("EmployeeClient.main(): bean found...");
    // Narrow the reference to EmployeeHome.
    HelloEJBHome home =
         (HelloEJBHome) PortableRemoteObject.narrow(homeObject,
    HelloEJBHome.class);
    System.out.println("EmployeeClient.main(): home narrowed...");
    // Create remote object and narrow the reference to Employee.
    HelloEJB remote =
         (HelloEJB) PortableRemoteObject.narrow(home.create(), HelloEJB.class);
    System.out.println("EmployeeClient.main(): remote created...");
    String message=remote.helloWorld("SUCCESS");
    System.out.println(message);
    } catch(NumberFormatException e) {
    System.err.println("NumberFormatException: " + e.getMessage());
    } catch(RemoteException e) {
    System.err.println("RemoteException: " + e.getMessage());
    } catch(IOException e) {
    System.err.println("IOException: " + e.getMessage());
    } catch(NamingException e) {
    System.err.println("NamingException: " + e.getMessage());
    } catch(CreateException e) {
    System.err.println("CreateException: " + e.getMessage());
