Sqlplus commands from withing the batch files
Hi,
Oracle9.2
need to execute the sqlplus commands from withing the batch files without calling the .sql file separately . How it can be done ?
With RegardsHi,
I agree with you...but as per your solution, after all you are calling the .sql file while connecting the sqlplus which I know already and I don't want to execute the sql commands like that as shown below.
For example:
for shut down the database and starting it again .sql files will be called as shown below
Note: shutdown.sql file will contain simple database shutdown command.
sqlplus -s "sys/%password%@%tnsname% as sysdba" @D:\shutdown_db.sql
and again for restarting the db i will perform as below
sqlplus -s "sys/%password%@%tnsname% as sysdba" @D:\start_db.sql
But I want to get it executed directly from the DOS batch file.
The thing is I want to execute this both the above database commands from the batch file itself without calling the .sql files separately as shown above.
is it possible, so how it can be done ?

Installing CuciMOC with a Batch File
I'm trying to get this thing to install with a batch file and Altiris. What switches did you guys use on the msi? What switches did you use on the exe? Which would you use the msi or the exe? Why?
Thanks in advance! I'm a batch file n00b.We lost our steam on this project because some other things came up. I'll post what
we had before we stopped working on it:
echo Install Dot Net 3.5 SP1

echo Killing MS Outlook and OCS Communicator

echo Installing CuciMoc
"C:\IT\CuciMOC\CiscoUCIntegrationTMforMicrosoftOfficeCommunicatorK9.msi" /qn
echo CuciMOC is installed
****From what the other guy said it doesn't install correct in our environment. The install goes through then when you log in as admin it says that ocs must be closed, then you close it and it says it needs to be running and fails. Haven't looked into it any further yet. Maybe the above will help for you. -

Help with Oracle 10g Client Connectivity from Linux to IBM SAN storage
Hello Oracle Experts,
This is my first post. My client is having oracle 10g database up and running in IBM SAN storage.
We have some NMS tools running in Red Hat Linux version 5. So, these tools require connectivity to Oracle database which is residing in SAN storage connected with the Fibre cables.
How do I establish the connectivity from Linux to SAN storage. If would be glad if you can explain me the steps and also if there is any pre-installation/post-installation, patches and procedures involved.
If it is IP based network we normally give the IP address of the host running the database server. I have no idea about SAN storage connected with Fibre cable.
Please guide me to establish the connectivity from linux 5 to SAN.
Thanks.

RaviShankar.user13153556 wrote:
Hi Rajesh,
Actually I will not be touching the Oracle instance SAN box directly. I will only access the database from another machine. I my case it is Linux box.
So, my question is how do you make the Oracle Client in Linux box to connect to Oracle instance running in another non ip based machine SAN storage.Install Oracle client on this Linux machine ..
Make sure you have network connectivity from linux machine to database server. You need to connect to server where db instance is running and you need not to bother about SAN storage.
make tns entry into client $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/tnsnames.ora file.
Use sqlplus to connect to database using client.

MS Visual Studio 2005 + Oracle 10g = Cannot connect to ODBC error: 12154
Hi there!
I've read so many threads of same kind of problems but always some key elements seems to be missing so I cannot solve my problem with the solutions in those threads. So, I'll do my own.
Our environment is...
We have Oracle 8 database with all the data that we have. Now we have our new server, SQL Server 2005 installed and I am trying to transfer data from Oracle to SQL using MS Visual Studio 2005 using available ODBC drivers. System is Windows 2003 64Bit on intel based hardware.
Current installations and settings
I have installed Oracle 10g 32bit and 64bit to separate foldes. Then I made tnsnames and sqlnet files with right settings to specified folders and tested connection with tnsping <servername> command.
Both, 64bit and 32bit connections are working. (Used 32bit CMD for 32bit connection test)
ODBC
I added Microsoft ODBC for Oracle as 32bit driver and Oracle 10g driver for 64bit environment as ODBC driver.
Both environments uses same ODBC names: Myserver and Mytestserver
Debug
First, when I only had 64bit version of ODBC, I had a warning which said that I am using incompatible version of ODBC driver. Then I read from here that I can install 32bit client also and use drivers from that on 32bit ODBC environment and get rid of that message.
Tried to connect Oracle DB with SQL-Plus and it works.
Visual studio 2005 SP2
I have tried to use .Net Providers/Oracle Client dataprovider and .Net Providers for OleDB/Microsoft Old DB for Oracle and also .Net Providers for OldDB/Oracle provider for OldDB
Frist two gives me an error: ORA-12154 TNS: Could not resolve the connect identifier specified
Last one says that OraOldDB.oracle.1 is not registered on local machine
I have absolutily no idea what I can try next?
Anyone who has more ideas? Suggest anything. I might have tried that already, but give a shot anyway. :)

Hi,
i have installed Oracle 10g on SuSE 9 Professional with kernel 2.4.21-192 and it works fine.

Do you have any hints or is the kernel 2.6 not supported.

Oracle 10g Universe Connectivity From 64bit Windows 2003 Server
Hi,
Have an existing BO XI 3.1 environment built on a 64 bit Windows 2003 server and
I'm having problems getting it to communicate with Oracle 10g universes. Works fine
with its SQL Server 2005 repository and SQL Server 2005 relational/olap universes, but
cant seem to get it to work with Oracle.
Universes work fine on the 32 bit development environment talking to the same Oracle
database, but when move them to 64 bit testing environment they all fail with
Oracle ora-12154 errors.
32 bit Oracle client is installed and can communicate fine with other products using ODBC
connections from the server - but BO refuses to communicate.
Any ideas other than reinstalling BO under 'Program Files' rather than 'Program Files (x86)'
as I've seen some references on the web about this possibly being a problem?
Thanks.Hi,
Oracle 32 bit and 64 bit connectivity work fine from the server. The problem seems to
relate to bug 3807408 in Oracle 10g that cant handle parentheses in directory names.
So BO being installed in u2018C:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objectsu2019 causes it to get
rather annoyed.
SAP Note 1202730 does cover this, but our DBA's aren't too keen on installing the
suggested patch. I'm also not very keen on reinstalling BO in a different directory as
we've got working production sites that would have to be rebuilt.
So now investigating whether using the Oracle 11g client will resolve this.
MSDN forum topic http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sqlintegrationservices/thread/ab662d63-6385-4f73-b27f-d526048f601f/ gives a pretty good overview of what people have been trying to resolve this. -
PDA C# to Remote Oracle 10g
Hi All Experts,
Hope to gain some knowledge to my problem.
I have a PDA with Windows Mobile 6.1 with HSXPA connectivity and a program developed using C# that I want to connect over 3G to another computer which is Windows Server 2008 with Oracle 10g. I want my PDA to get some data out and send some data to the remote Oracle Database. I am using Visual Studio 2008.
I am not sure how to connect to this remote database from PDA. I have come across two solutions
1) Use Web services
2) Using dotConnect for Oracle Mobile Edition
I would like to know from experts which would be the better solution and also if I am missing something. Also does Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio provide me ADO.NET services to connect from a PDA to a remote oracle database or are there any other tools available to achieve what I want to.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards
TrusharHello,
I see your answer why this days I had the same problem... For a way I see that exist Oracle Lite for PDA that give autonomy to your program and that can syncronize with oracle.
But what I need is directly connect to Oracle in my server from my PDA and I only found a component of a third that I can't mention. I will just say that normally the system.data.oracleclient component is for framework and you need one for the "compact framework" that is the visual studio environement in your PDA. -
Oracle 10g R2 - Metadata Issue With Version Controlled Resources
We are trying to utilize the Oracle 10g R2 feature that allows user-defined metadata to be attached to XML DB resources. However, we are encountering errors when we try to append/attach metadata to a version-controlled resource (VCR). The following steps were followed:
1. Register a new schema to be used for metadata (XMLSCHEMA.registerSchema).
2. Add a new resource to to the XML DB and make it version controlled (DBMS_XDB.createResource and DBMS_XDB_VERSION.makeVersioned).
3. Checkout the newly created version-controlled resource (DBMS_XDB_VERSION.checkout)
4. Add metadata to the version-controlled resource (DBMS_XDB.appendResourceMetadata)
However, after step 4, the errors shown below are encountered:
========================================================
begin
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [qmxStrCopy: INLOB 2], [], [], [],
ORA-06512: at "XDB.DBMS_XDB", line 890
ORA-06512: at line 2
========================================================
The steps followed for adding metadata to a resource were taken from Chapter 26 of the "Oracle XML DB Developer's Guide 10G Release 2" (http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14259/xdb_repos_meta.htm#sthref2302).
Is is possible to append and maintain metadata to an XML DB version controlled resource (VCR)? If so, what are the correct steps to do this? Note that if this is tried with a resource that is not version controlled, then no errors are encountered.
Thanks,
SteveIt appears that this issue has been solved in the next release of the database

Oracle 10g DB create fails with jave.lang.StackOverflowError
Hi all,
wonder if you can help with my issue.
I'm trying to install oracle 10g on Redhat ES4 on a virtual machine (VMplayer) on a HP Elite Book laptop. I've set swapspace to 4GB and have 1.5 Gb of RAM allocated to the virtual machine.
I've set the ulimts and maxproc an the soft/hard nproc/nofile to appropraie values for the create.I don't think it's a java problem at all.................
When I run dbca with the silent install I get the message
"waiting for m_bReaderStarted to be true" - which is never is.
So it isn't making a connection I suspect.
The loistenser also won't start.
10g is installed on linux es4 running on VM Player.
I think the proble ,ay be to do with when I start dbca (or the listener) it doesn't connect.
In /etc/hosts I have
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
and in the tnsnames.ora and listener.ora files i have the 'HOST = localhost.localdomain' (with post = 1521)
Is /etc/hosts and the ora files set correctly ?
