Removal of page in multi page flow (Train)

Hi all ,
I have a series of pages (train) in which I have to remove / hide a page ( I mean end user should not see that page in the flow) . For exampe , if the flow is :
Page A --> Page B --> Page C --> Page D . The requirement is to remove the Page C .
Any suggestions / directions will be of great help .
Thanks for your time & attention ...

Hi Reetesh ,
The personalization helps us in removing the visual train link at the top of the page . But not the actual page . Any pointers on how to remove the actual page in the flow (train) .
Thanks for your time..

  • Java.lang.StackOverflowError on Go To Code in Page Flow Diagram

If I select Go To Code in a Struts Page Flow Diagram with a Data Page, the cursor changes to a hourglass and back to a pointer and nothing else happens. The java window reports a java.lang.StackOverflowError.
Normally, I would expect the create class wizard that helped me to subclass oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataActionMapping, which was the case a few days ago.
Any idea what could be wrong ?

I found the reason myself: If the UIX project has a dependence to a BC4J project Project1 containing the AM Module and Project1 by itself has a dependency to a BC4J project Project2 containing the EO, this error shows up. Simply remove the dependency (Project Properties - Dependencies), and the Page Flow Modeler behaves as expected.
Another detail: Doubleclicking on the Data Page instead of Context Menu - Go To Code opens a window showing BME-99009: An error has occured in the Java VM reporting the same short stack trace java.lang.StackoverflowError.

It has actually gotten worse: jdeveloper doesn't even start anymore.
I've removed all workspaces from jdeveloper, restarted, created a new workspace and project. I added a struts-config file. I could open it, but when i tried to drop a data-page component on it, an error message was displayed. Then i removed the workspace and restarted jdeveloper. BUt it doesn't want to restart anymore. The console shows the following message:

  • Is there a way to RECREATE the Page Flow Overview in BEA Workshop 4WL?

BEA Workshop foe weblogic makes JSP development a lot simpler, and the auto generated Page Flow Overview is a nice feature - as long as your page flows are relatively small and simple. It doesn't take much to completlly confuse the tool though and you end up with a workflow with all sorts of flow lines cris-crossing each other - often I which I could just reach in and move a single jsp or action item and the whole mess would straighten out.
Is there a way to reposition individual elements of the Page Flow Overview or failing that to have it Recreate itself (in hopes that it will straighten out the mess itself).
Also is there a way to manually edit the flow - adding notes and/or objects and flow lines?

There is no explicit "refresh" button for the Page Flow Overview (PFO), however clicking the "Show Link Labels" button on the toolbar will cause the graph to be redrawn.
That said, in my experience replotting the graph nearly always arrives at the same layout. While the layout algorithm does a pretty good job with large graphs generally, some very highly connected graphs can be pretty tough to read right off the bat.
For various reasons we've moved away from having users manually tweak the layout to deal with this situation. However, we added some highlighting functionality to help make graphs easier to read even if the layout appears tangled.
If you click the Graph Tracing button on the PFO toolbar you can select a given node and see all directly connected nodes highlighted. If some of the directly connected nodes are far away on the canvas, park the PFO next to the Page Flow Editor view and you'll be able to see a more regular arrangement of the same nodes.
When you're more interested in following a specific path than seeing the whole immediate neighborhood, you can hit the slash key repeatedly to cycle through highlighting all the links connected to the selected node.
Finally, you can ctrl-click to multi-select links of interest if you want to trace a given path all the way through the flow. If you were doing this for documentation purposes you can print the graph in this state, or click the Export to Image button, to make a copy of the highlighted path.
WRT your other question about editing the flow - the Page Flow Editor is intended to complement the PFO as a means of efficiently editing the flow. Select a node in the PFO and you be able to add/modify connections to that node viat the Page Flow Editor.
There is no provision to add notes or other objects to the flow (though the exported image files can of course be annotated in a graphics editor for documentation purposes).
    I hope that helps.

  • Nested Page Flows

    Hi,
I am getting ActionNotFoundException when browsing through my pages which use the Nested Page Flows.
The complete description of the Nested Page Flow we are using in our Application .
              CustomerController --> Parent Controller
              ServiceAddressController --> Child Controller
              OrganizationHierarchyController --> Child Controller
The CustomerController.saveCustomerContacts() action invokes the ServiceAddressController.begin().
ServiceAddressController performs some actions and returns the Control back to the CustomerController.serviceAddressDone().
CustomerController.serviceAddressDone() inturn again immediately invokes the OrganizationHierarchyController.begin().
After performing some actions the OrganizationHierarchyController returns the control back to CustomerController.organizationHierarchyDone().
The logs indicate that the Exception is occuring after returning from the OrganizationHierarchyController.begin().
This is happening in the Integration environment.
              And one more thing…
We have found from the Bea Web site
(link: http://edocs.bea.com/workshop/docs81/doc/en/core/index.html ) that the following Exception occurs in the development environment..
              com.bea.wlw.netui.pageflow
              EmptyNestingStackException Class
              public class EmptyNestingStackException
              extends PageFlowException
Exception that occurs when the user invokes an action in a nested page flow that is qualified with a @jpf:forward return-action="action-name-in-calling-pageflow " annotation, but there is no calling page flow. This can happen in iterative development mode when you have modified files and caused the web application to be redeployed, or when the session expires.
              Hierarchy
              Object
              Throwable
              Exception
              RuntimeException
              PageFlowException
              EmptyNestingStackException
              All Implemented Interfaces
              Serializable
We initially thought that the above Exception might be the cause for ActionNotFoundException.
Since the Weblogic Server removes the Controller from the nesting stack, and hence the Controller is lost and there by resulting in ActionNotFoundException.
And we thought that this happens only in the iterative development Environment.
But, we are getting this Exception even in the Integration Environment.
This is causing problems for us to test the Application, and resolve the defects, and considerably hindering the progress of our development and the testing phase.
We would appreciate any one who could find a quick solution for the above problem.
We are Using Weblogic 8.1.3 with ServicePack 3.
              thanks,
              Venkatesh Pagadala.
              :-)

Did you get to the bottom of this ?
The exception can be generated when you try to access /invoke an action on a pageflow that is no longer in the stack.
Once you use the return-to and go back to a parent page flow then then nested page flow is destroyed.

  • Removing the page from the sequence

    Hi,
I'm trying to remove a page from the flow of pages using Workflow. Does it give any problems in the future for the page flow for other pages if i remove one page? What are the precautions which i should take before removing a page from the flow of pages.
    Thanks
    --Kumar

Nancy, I replied to the email that arrived with your response (above) and a few minutes later was contacted by someone from the Adobe Reader Forum to tell me that my reply had appeared on one of their threads!  Wierd. It's obviously not a good idea to respond to the emails as they recommend.
    You got that right.
"leaving the old .wma option in case the flash players didn't do the job for some people.
    Do you think that's unnecessary?
    Regards,
    steve"
    Steve,
On one of the media sites I maintain, I used polls to ask site visitors which they preferred: Flash video or WMV.  I was hoping the majority would say Flash because it saves me a lot of time. Most said they liked to Preview in Flash.  But they much preferred to download Windows Media files for off-line viewing.
So my answer to you is this: Get to know your target audience and you won't go wrong.
Best of luck on your new website!
    Nancy O.

  • Page flow stopped

I have been editing a chapter for three days with no problems, and out of the blue, the page flow stopped, and I can't get the paragraphs to advance to the next page. I have tried the following things:
checking to make sure the current and next pages have the same flow. (They do.)
saving and closing the file, exiting FrameMaker, and restarting my computer
    using a different paragraph tag
turning off track text edits and attempting to advance to the next page with unmarked text
entering preview mode with track text edits turned off
I have the following set up:
    FrameMaker 9.0p237
    Windows 7 64bit
    A very robust computer
A client with an insane deadline
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Karen

Karen, as you're on a deadline I'd suggest that it's easier to resurrect the file by creating a new file rather than troubleshooting what went wrong with the current file.
    1. save your current file as-is, so that you're sure you have both the content that you've entered and the formatting. Personally I'd also do a second backup copy of the problem file with a different name, e.g. xxBAD or something.
    2. create a brand new FM file. With both documents open, in the new file do File > Import > Formats, and select the "old" file in the drop-down menu. Then select which will copy all the master pages and paratags etc. over to your new file. Save this new file with a different name, "xxNew". Be sure to note what settings you've selected on the bottom section "While updating remove", so that if you need to you can re-do the import and change these settings. The initial selection depends on how many style overrides you might have used (if any) in the original document.
    3. In the xxNew file, put your cursor in the text frame at the top of the first (and so far only) page.  Then do File > Import > File. Choose the xxOld file. At the bottom of the dialog be sure to select "copy into document". This will copy the content from the other file into the xxNew file.
In the "Import text flow" dialog that pops up, choose the Body page flow and the default "A (Main Flow)". Because you've already imported the formats you could use either the default "Reformat Using current document's formats" or the bottom "Retain Source's Formatting" -- the choice depends a lot on whether you have ad hoc formatting in your original document, e.g. highlighted words and just clicked "Bold" from the menu, as opposed to using a character style called "Bold", or changed the alignment of a paragraph but not made a new paragraph tag for that different alignment, both of those examples are of overrides. If you have used a lot of overrides then I would suggest using "Retain source's formatting".
    4. In the xxNew file, page to the end of the document. Put your cursor before the "end of flow" symbol,
Start typing, enter a few carriage returns, whatever, to be sure that when you reach the end of the page that FM will automatically add a new page and your typing does extend forward onto the next page as you expect.
Assuming things are ok, then save this xxNew file as the original filename.
That should get you back to operation, and you can work out what went wrong with the original file once the deadline has passed.

  • Page flow & deployment issue

My application works fine when I right click and run the entry page (LoginPage.jspx, or Welcome.jspx). However, the page flow is not working (totally broken) when I deploy the app to a server machine (or even just IntegratedWebLogicServer instance), for example: after you click on the login button, it will not direct to the main.jspx.
It's really strange, I assume when you right click and run the entry page, it will start IntegratedWebLogicServer (if not started yet), and deploy the application, and render the page. It's exactly the same process as deploying to IntegratedWebLogicServer, and run the entry page in a browser.
    Does anybody have a clue?
    Thanks!

As Chris rightly hints, the reason that navigation is not working is that you are running a JSPX page whereas you want to be running a task flow activity - the URL is usually the same as Chris indicates (remove ".jspx" from the end), but it doesn't have to be. When you run a JSPX, JDev is doing some behind-the-scenes magic for you and running the URL for the task flow instead of the JSPX; you can see this by looking at the URL when you run from within JDev - use the same URL (ok, with proper host/port) for running it from an external WLS and you should be fine.
    Hope that makes sense.

  • How to remove a page from Pages document

I have created a document in pages, and it is 12 pages. This is the complete document, originally created to export as a PDF.
I want to create a smaller version of the document, removing certain pages that some people do not need.
Unfortunately, I created the document as I went, and did not use sections of blank pages each time I started a new one. Is there any way I can remove a page from the document? Every time I try and go to thumbnail view and delete a page, it deletes all 12 pages. Thank you for any help you can give.

When you click on the thumbnails it selects entire sections.
To isolate a page/s, insert section breaks at the foot of the pages before and at the bottom of the one you want to select. Then click on that page/s in the thumbnail and hit delete.
More sensibly you should delete the content in the document rather than thumbnail pages.
If the pages you wiish to omit are at the beginning or end of the document, you can nominate the page numbers you wish to output in the Print dialog when printing to pdf.

  • How to remove blank pages

    Dear all,
How can i remove blank pages in combind pdf in one short, if you have any idea or suggestion for remove blank pages in Acrobat. We need without blank pages counting for final page count purpose.
We tried to remove blank pages option in acrobat 9.0, but it is not use single short. It is taken more time to taken for maual work.
If you have any scripting for this? or any option having in acrobat in single short? Please help me in this regard.
    Thanks
    kanaga kumar. k

This can be done with a script, but a script can only assume a page is
blank if it has not text in it. It can't know if there are images or other
    graphic elements in a page.

you are most likely redirecting to the /error.jsp page and losing the
    context for
your portal app. The index.jsp page may be defined as your <welcome-file>
    in your
web.xml file. The best thing to do is to save the context before visiting
    error.jsp
and then provide a link in error.jsp to go back. Look at javadoc for
    PageURL for
obtaining the URL to a portal page, you can then save it in session of
    pass it
    to your error page.

    Hello-
I have a page flow portlet that I am testing some exception handling
    on. Right
now when I catch an exception, I display the global /error.jsp page,
    using the
@jpf:catch tag. The problem is when I refresh the page after viewing
    the error
page, the pageflow always pulls up the /index.jsp page at the root of
    the webapp.
I have to get a new session to see the original page flow.
This only happens when I am running the Jpf as a portlet...I don't see
    this behavior
    with it stand-alone.
I am not sure why the index.jsp page is being called...there are noreferences
to it in my jpf code...
    thanks,
    Howie

  • Multiple Browsers with the same Page Flow

I have a legacy application that I am working on migrating to Weblogic. The
legacy application allowed the user to have multiple windows of the same
module open at the same time. Users found this useful if they wanted to look
at two different records in the same module. For example, if you had a
registration app and you wanted to look at Joe's registration information
and Sue's registration. Is it possible to have two browsers within the same
session open and pointing to the same RegistrationController.jpf?
    Thank You.
    Michelle

I believe our problem is that our form beans are class members of the page
flow thus when you open another instance of the same controller the form
beans are overwritten. Our GUI is displayed as modules containing multiple
tabs with a form bean for each tab. The module has a controller, signifying
the page flow for the module. So, one record in a module will span multiple
tabs. We did not want to have one big form bean that is why we multiple
form beans. But it now looks like we will need to store these form beans
perhaps to the session in a collection identified by the window instance
    they belong to.
We also need to do multiple different page flows but I don't think nested
page flows will not work here because the page flows would almost need to be
nested of each other. I guess you could almost think of as each module is
an independent application however some can be invoked by others.

    Hi Michelle,
Yes, that should be just fine. That page flow will remain the "current
page flow" as requests from both browser windows hit it. The NetUI
runtime synchronizes the action methods, so you don't need to worry about
    thread-safety within them.
There's also a way to have multiple different active page flows at the
same time, but in this case you don't need to do anything special.

See McAfee support to find out how to disable that McAfee feature - that isn't part of the normal Firefox installation.

  • How can I remove the page number from the first page of the document that is the cover page?

How can I remove the page number from the first page of the document that is the cover page?

If you open the Pages panel, (Window>Pages) you will see thumbnails of your master pages and your document pages. In new documents, there is usually a master called A-Master and one called None. If you drag the thumbnail of the None master onto the thumbnail of a document page, it will apply that master to that page. Presumably, you have made your page numbers on A-Master, so this will usually do the trick. If you have elements on A-Master that you need on the first page, but just not the page number, you can duplicate A-Master (which, by default will give you B-Master, but you can change the names if you like) and remove the page number on the duplicate and apply that to the document page.
It might also be worth noting that you can apply master pages in the fly-out of the Pages panel. Go to the fly-out triangle and go down to Apply Master to Pages…, then select a master to apply and the range of pages (1-8 will give you all 8, 1, 3, 5, 7 will be the odds, 1-3, 4, 6-8 if you want continuous ranges and individual pages).
