Remove Mailbox when DB is no more

In our small environment, we had the following:
Windows Server 2012 R2 with Exchange 2013 SP1
Windows Server 2008 R2 with Exchange 2010
The Windows Server 2008 R2 hard drive died, and I have rebuilt the server as a new Windows Server 2012 R2.   I followed the instructions in ADSI EDIT to remove the old Exchange 2010 entry.   My problem are the mailboxes that were hosted on the
Exchange 2010 database which no longer exists.   I have disabled the mailboxes in Exchange 2013 but I need to remove the mailbox entries associated with the users so I can create new mailboxes on Exchange 2013.   Help....I don't even know if this
is the correct approach.

do you just need to create the mailbox or need the data as well?
if you need the data then you need to have backup -- do yo u have the backup or database files?

    Hi
    Suggestion 1:  verify mailboxes:
    1. In Exchange management shell, run these cmdlets:
    Set-ADServerSettings -ViewEntireForest  $True
    get-mailbox -database "DBname" –arbitration
    2. Please verify if arbitration mailbox shows. If yes, please move these mailboxes with this cmdlet:
    Get-Mailbox -Database "DBname" -Arbitration|New-MoveRequest -TargetDatabase "DB2Name"
Note: please replace DB2Name with the target database name.
    3. Wait for the complete of AD replication, after that, please try to remove database again.
Suggestion 2: If the database still cannot be removed and you have followed the instruction in error message, but nothing returned. It seems the database is empty. So I suggest we use ADSI Edit to remove the database object directly since it no
    longer contains any mailboxes.

  • Remove mailbox database copy from DAG

    Hi There,
We would like to remove the mailbox database copy from our exchange server as we are lack of the space on our fixed vhd and we hope to be able to free about 100GB from the passive database copies as we have deployed DAG. is there any guidelines or procedures
to safely remove the database copies? currently, we have 4 mailbox servers, HQMB01, HQMB02, SSMB01, and SSMB02. HQMB01 and HQMB02 is already part of DAG members by itself. however, on ssmb01 and ssmb02, we also add in HQMB01 and HQMB02 as the DAG member,
thus they can fail over to HQMB01 or HQMB02 if their server have issue. in this situation, SSMB01 and SSMB02 passive copies is also inside our HQMB01 and HQMB02. As the our HQMB01 and HQMB02 is lack of the disk space and we would like to remove SSMB01
and SSMB02 from the DAG, thus we could remove the passive database copies. The following is the picture of the activation preference for all servers. what is the procedures and the guidelines to remove mailbox database copy and also remove the server from
the DAG members? we are quite confuse and worry that after we are removing wrongly and cause the active database to lost as we understand that there is replication happening between them. as we have 4 mailbox servers from which server we should perform
the task? Wish to get some advises from the exchange guru from this forum. we are on exchange server 2010 sp1 and windows server 2008 R2.Thanks so much.

    Hi Exchange Guru,
thanks so much for the prompt response..i have few queries to ask following your guidelines above:
    1. from the show result above, I am still confuse which server that I should go to remove as this is involving 4 database copies. from what I understand from the truncation or replay lag times of SSDB01 and SSDB02, I can see that HQMB01 and HQMB02 are on
the third and fourth preference, which means that SSDB01 and SSDB02 will be able to failover to each of them when there is a failure and it cause the passive copies of both of SSDB01 and SSDB02 to be stored in the HQMB01 and HQMB02. what my purpose
is to remove both SSDB01 and SSDB02 passive copies in HQMB01 and HQMB02. in this case, should I login to SSDB01 or SSDB02 mailbox servers to perform the removal with your guidelines above?
    2. is the command as below:
    Remove-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity SSDB01\HQMB01 -Confirm:$False
    Remove-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity SSDB01HQMB02 -Confirm:$False
    Remove-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity SSDB02\HQMB01 -Confirm:$False
    Remove-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity SSDB02\HQMB02 -Confirm:$False
will this cause the risk either of my HQDB01, HQDB02, SSDB01, and SSDB02 active copies accidentally  being removed? I am sorry that I am a bit naggy and always want a confirmation as this is very critical and I must be super careful.
    3. If after the removal successful, when is the best time to go to the drive where the passive copies stored and remove them so I can clear some space on  my disk? and is it just as simple by going to the drive and do a folder file deletion manually?
because I just worry when I delete the file and the server is still replicating between each other, which will cause even corruption to the active database.
    4. From point 3, you mention about when the server is empty. what do you mean by that? do you mean that when the passive copies are no more there? and what command that I used to check?
    5. From point 4, is removing the server from DAG the last step to be performed? yes, I want to remove them from DAG, thus will left only HQMB01 and HQMB02 as one DAG and SSMB01 and SSMB02 as one DAG.
Thank so so much for your patient and attention.

    Henry

  • Unable to remove mailbox from Nokia E52

    Hello,
I configured 2 mailboxes in my E52 which was working fine until I configured 1 more account. After I created that another account all the 3 mailboxes got disconnected. Now when I try to connect any of the mailboxes it prompts for password, which is not accepting after many attempts. So it remains in the disconnected state. Now when I try to remove/delete the mailbox, it gives me an error: You must be connected to remove the mailbox. Try again later. Neither I am able to connect to any of the mailboxes nor I am able to remove/delete any of the mailboxes. I am in a fix now. Pls help

I had the same  problem. Make sure the mailbox is disconnected when you do it. It will work

  • Retention time and 'removed' mailbox status

    hi,
I have a couple of general questions:
    1) How do I check the default retention time for removed mailboxes in exchange power shell ?  The reason I'm asking is I've marked for deletion a few user mailboxes. But it happened I had to re-enable accounts in AD as 2 of the employees returned to
the company. The mailboxes seem to have connected automatically back since I re-enabled accounts in Active Directory. Not sure whether they are still in status 'marked for deletion' ?
    2) How do I force to cancel the deletion if it happens to be the case ?
    thank you.

You can check for Disconnected (basically what happens when you only disable the AD account and not delete it) Mailboxes with the command below:
    Get-MailboxDatabase | Get-MailboxStatistics | Where { $_.DisconnectReason -eq "Disabled" } | ft DisplayName,Database,DisconnectDate
Now when you reenable the account, the Mailbox should get reconnected as well and should no longer be marked for deletion, sometimes it takes time for Exchange to run through its stuff before you can actually access the mailbox. Anyway, here is some more
    information on disabled mailboxes.

  • Removing Mailbox DBs, while keeping all AD Exchange attributes intact?

So I have migrated my groupware platform from Exch2010sp1 to Google Apps (sorry, MS, but if you gave 365 away for free to 501c3's I would have considered it). I am using
Google's Google Apps Directory Sync (GADS)to populate GApps, and intend to maintain my AD infrastructure and add users that way via the Exchange Admin tools.
However, I don't need the Hub/Client Access/Mailbox DB role installed anymore.
Everything that I have found in looking to date is for the reverse (e.g. people with problems where they have managed to remove the Mailbox DB role but they still have the Exch AD attributes) of what I need. But in looking at EMC and the PS Remove-Mailbox-Database
cmd, everything seems to want to remove the Exch AD attributes. And, of course, just disconnecting the Mailbox DBs isn't feasible, as the DB still contains all my user mailboxes from pre-migration.
Is this even possible? Would it be something I could do via ADSIEdit? I'm certainly willing to go there, but probably not without some good expert guidance, as I feel like I could hose my schema pretty good by trying that on my own.
Much thanks in advance for any assistance.

As I understand, you want to uninstall the Exchange 2010 Hub/Client Access/Mailbox roles but keep the AD.
If you mean the specific Exchange attributes for my AD users, but get rid of the actual mailbox store data, then yes.
I appreciate the response, but those steps are exactly what I don't want to do, namely:
"On the Readiness Checks page, please view the status to determine if the organization and server role prerequisite checks
completed successfully. When the checks have completed successfully, click Uninstall to remove the specified server role(s) or the entire installation of Exchange 2010."
This will remove Exch from AD, as well as the attributes. I want to do 1/2 of this. Remove the Exchange mailboxes &
Exch server functionality, but keep the AD/LDAP attributes so my sync to Google Apps will continue to work based on the rules I've set.

  • How to manually remove mailboxes

I'm having problems uninstalling Exchange 2013. I cannot connect to Exchange via the Management Console or EAC, so I'm trying to uninstall and re-install Exchange. However, I cannot uninstall Exchange because it says "This mailbox database contains
one or more mailboxes...", but I cannot use the Cmdlets to remove the database because I can't connect to the Management Console.
The output mentions CN's that I cannot find in Active Directory so I'm not sure what to do.
How do I manually delete the mailboxes so that I can uninstall Exchange?

    Hi,
From your description, I would like to clarify the following thing:
The Exchange Installations creates several "System Mailboxes" (Arbitration, Monitoring and Discovery) that you need to delete before you can uninstall your Exchange 2013 Server. Here is the list for your reference, you can find them in the Users

  • Exchange 2010 SP1 - Export to PST, Remove Mailbox

I'm looking for a PowerShell script that will allow me to use Exchange 2010 SP1 to export a mailbox to PST and then when finished, delete the user and mailbox. I typically do this process manually about 6 months after an employee leaves the company (allowing
for live access to the mailbox and message forwarding to their supervisor).
Ideally, the script would take input for a mailbox ID, and then export the file to a file of the mailbox name (Prompt: jdoe -> New-MailboxExportRequest -Mailbox jdoe -FilePath \\server\path\jdoe.pst). After the export is complete, it would schedule the
mailbox for complete removal and remove the completed mailbox export request. The prompt and export process should be simple enough, but I suspect the difficulty will come with monitoring for the completed request before acting on the removal.
Thanks for any help provided! :)

    Thanks for the guidance!
I think I was able to come up with something that will do the trick nicely:
    $Name = Read-Host "Please enter a mailbox to archive"
    New-MailboxExportRequest -Mailbox $Name -FilePath \\Exchange\C$\ExchangeExports\$Name.pst
    while ((Get-MailboxExportRequest -Mailbox $Name | Where {$_.Status -eq "Queued" -or $_.Status -eq "InProgress"}))
    sleep 60
    Get-MailboxExportRequest -Mailbox $Name | Remove-MailboxExportRequest -Confirm:$false
    Remove-Mailbox -Identity $Name -Confirm:$false
    Hopefully it may help others.

Well, count the items and display the button/menu when there are more than which fits on screen.

Since the os7 update on my iPad, my safari is not right, it only opens one page at a time, crashes when trying to open more, it has no back button. Help

Well, I rebuilt the entire workbook... that was a few months ago and so far, the problem hasn't resurfaced. It really wasn't fun to do, but whatever glitch there was in the file, I eliminated it.
I think I should mention that I am using Office v.X, NOT Office 2004. I got a new Intel iMac this week and yesterday when I opened up my files, it opened up the test drive (a JOKE of a program if you ask me) Anyway, some of the very minor issues I had with Office v.X were solved in the 2004 version. (When opening up large multi worksheet files without Excel being already opened, the tabs have white text) Anyway, I am still going to wait for the universal version to come out, but it seems that the newer versions may have fewer glitches (as is to be expected)
At any rate, best of luck to you!

This is not correct solution. I have fresh/new copy of Windows 7 64 bit and I have the same problem.
Autorun only shows the Apple Bonjour service.  It started when try to sync more than one iphone over WiFi. I have two iphones and an iPad. I turned off syncing over WiFi and still has high CPU utilization. One of the CPU's is pegged at 100%.  It is the AppleMobileDeviceService.exe process.

For the record, I then followed the suggestion of MarcDCMB in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4291206 of just manually restarting the Apple Mobile Device service in Windows services.msc once each time after starting iTunes and the service no longer hogs CPU after that service restart.  Not too painful as a work-around, and apparently an effective one, but clearly not a solution to the problem.  Again, as above, all the other solutions didn't work for me and I have no conflicting software as far as I can tell. So you'd have to say this Apple's problem.
Also FTR, I am still on the 5.2.0.6 version of the Apple Mobile Device Support MSI and I don't know if that is relevant to this work-around working but my sense is that it is NOT relevant.  I'll report back on this thread if I re-upgrade and the problem returns in spite of the service-restart approach.
