Remove tool tips (link info)

Hi!
How can I remove the annoying (it almost always covers the link as I move my cursor over it thus rendering it illegible!)?
I tried entering a command (defaults write com.apple.Safari WebKitShowsURLsInToolTips 0) into Terminal following instructions posted in this forum, but it hasn't seemed to work. (Copied and pasted command into Basic window, hit Enter, Quit Terminal, and restarted Safari.....)

Well, this might work; copy/paste this command into Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.Safari removeAllToolTips -bool true
then press Enter or Return. Read the Terminal window to see if there was any sort of error message, and if so, paste it into your reply. Quit Terminal and restart Safari to test it.
If it doesn't work enter this in Terminal:
defaults delete com.apple.Safari removeAllToolTips
press Enter or Return.
If the first command above doesn't work and doesn't give you an error message when you entered it, use this command:
defaults write -g NSInitialToolTipDelay 99999
(where 99999 is the delay time in seconds before ToolTips would appear)
press Enter or Return, then quit Terminal and restart Safari to test.

Hello there and good day. I have a pdf document in abobe 9, and it has hyperlinks and when I hover over them with the mouse it has the link addy in the tool tip text thing. I was wonder if there was a may to remove it or have that box blank. Thanks!

I do see the question mark with the tool tip in the test form, but the saved form does not reveal any question marks. The tool tips are not present.

Removing Tool Tips in PS 9.1

We are in the process of building UPK modules for our upcoming PS 9.1 implementation. We need to turn off tool tips throughout the application so they do not capture when recording to UPK. Where does the switch reside to turn off tool tips?

Sorry I don't know about configuring PeopleSoft tool tips. Perhaps someone else who has more experience with PeopleSoft will come along. In the meantime, you may want to post your question to the [PeopleSoft forum|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=432].

OBIEE 11g : Tool tip on a report link

Hello All,
Is it possible to add a mouse over tool tip to a report link on a dashboard page (not on column heading) ?
The dashboard currently has descriptions for the report links to see what is the report usage and it is eating up a lot of space , the idea is to eliminate this notes section and provide information to the user so as to what the report is as a tool tip.
I have seen OTN threads on tool tips on to reports and column headers but I would like to just specifically add the mouse over pop-up to a report link that exists on a dashboard page.
Any suggestions , please advice.

There is a way using JavaScript, right now I dont have code to share with you.
Assuming your report name is "Summary Report", using JavaScript search for this "Summary Report" on dashboard and apply CSS script something like mouseover.
You may get code in pieces on net, try it out.

Am I the only one who didnt get a removal tool and extra s pen tips in my note 4 box?

I looked in my box for the extra s pen tips and removal tool, they are not there. I looked around and thought maybe I dropped them. Not the case at all they were not included. Is this normal? It does not actually say on my box that those items are included.

Dynamic Tool tip text/Quick Info

Is it possible to have dynamic tool tip text when you hover over an icon on a report? I know you can change the function key text but these icons are present on the report itself.
Any ideas?!

Remove Rectangle Tools' size tool tips from the corner

I use the Rectanle Tool a lot and Photoshop CS6 is the first PS version i see displaying some tool tips in the corner every time i draw with it.

With TSM adware removal tool I was able to remove unknown software that was making ads pop up when using Safari. So the y don't pop up anymore. The problem now is that when I open safari It is still downloading websites and after awhile it

I have to constantly go to Safari Preferences to remove them and then the browser will start working again. What can I do to stop this?

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

My custom Tool tip on spark data Grid don't work ?

I want to add panel component as my tooltip for each row in my Spark DataGrid. So when mouse rollover the user can see the information for each the ship. I want a panel as my tooltip for dataGrid cause I want to organize my data neatly and also place a image in the panel.
I came across :http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flex/using/WS2db454920e96a9e51e63e3d11c0bf60d65-7ff6.html where they show an example of "Implementing the IToolTip interface" using the panel.I tried manipulating the codes but it didt work for my spark dataGrid.
So my question :
Can some one pls show me how I can use the Panel as my tool tip for each row in spark data grid.
I have been struggling for quite some time.If possible pls Give me an example.

Ok I was getting ready to post the renderer code and then found the problem. I had copied this code from another renderer which had contentBackgroundAlpha=0 in the MXAdvancedDataGridItemRenderer tag. When I removed it, the style of the TextArea worked as intended. Your comment helped me to take a closer look at the renderer code, so thank you.

Script to rename Link Info Names

I'm working on converting a clients old catalog from Quark to Indesign. I'm using Indesign CS4 on Windows Vista. I've used Markzware Q2ID to convert the catalog to indesign with out too many problems. But I have run into a big problems with the images. They will not automatically relink. After digging around I've found the problem. For some reason all of the Image names also include the path structure.

Luckly all the names have the same problem. So I'm hoping to find or write a script that can simply go through the indesign document and Find/Replace all of the link names to remove "BDA-12:Users:graeme:Desktop:FSIP back up:_Collected:02405 FSIP AftMkt EAST:Pictures:".
I know this is a really simple problem but this is my first real attempt at scripting something in Adobe. Does anyone have any good ideas or tips on how I would do this?

The conversion program totally corrupted links in your document: myLink.filePath is just empty string, myLink.name is what should have been myLink.filePath (This is info from ESTK).
Here is a new version of the script -- it relinks to files located in NewLinks folder on the Desktop. Change this line

to location of your links.

Can't enable Windows Defender - used McAfee removal tool - Y580

I can't enable Windows Defender. I get the message "Windows Defender has been turned off and isn't monitoring your computer." So I used the McAfee removal tool, then rebooted my PC, but I still can't enable it.
Perhaps my laptop came with security software other than McAfee and I just don't remember uninstalling it? Does anyone know if an Ideapad Y580 comes with software other than McAfee? Or has any idea how I can enable Windows Defender?

HT5244 Flashback Removal Tool and Software update is not working!

My software is up to date but the virus is still detected on my computer, what should I do? The flashfake removal tool from Kapersky(I may have spelled it wrong) detects a virus but when I click on it to remove it, nothing happens.

I have been working with APEX since a few months (December) ago, since then it has captivated most of my attention, because of what can be done with it…
This time I would like to ask for your advice about some new topics (tool tip and VCF or saving contacts) in regard to APEX, I created a calendar application –works as it meant to be- but now got some question to which I have not yet found an answer, (I have already looked on some online info).
1). Regarding to tool tip: as I mentioned before I have created a calendar application, and on it I am linking the events (specifically on calendar region) on it to some other pages, in the link that leads to the page I have put this:

3). Referring to user groups, I have read on chapter 8, that creating groups I will be able to restrict access to various parts of an application, so I did create them and applied them but once again something happens.
Re: authorization scheme methods/techniques
What I am trying to do with the users, is to restrict their access to specific pages, so for example let's say that I do have these pages.
Start, calendar, insertion, update and report, on the start page I have a link to the insertion page, that I want it to be accessed just by those users who have some privileges (which I understand can be done with groups, to manage who can access to a page and who can not.), and to allow other user to go around to the allowed areas.

ABOUT VCF IN APEX
Hi everyone,
This time I will like to ask you for some advise in regard to VCF, the picture is this.
VCF in theory is working and on practice is working more or less… I say more or less because of this…
This is a small idea of my application.
I have a test application on APEX that is a calendar to insert data, on the page where I do have the calendar I have some hyperlinks for insertion and for viewing the reports, and on the calendar itself I do have a link for updating the event.
I have assigned the VCF file to the updating page (page that is linked from the calendar) and bring in the values that are meant to be, in theory it should create the VCF file well but it does not.
The only way it does create the VCF file is when I insert a new registry, click insert and then on the status bar of the browser (in my case mozilla firefox) hit the back button, then the VCF file is created as it’s meant to be.
I will appreciate if anyone can give me a hint, a suggestion, anything :)

1. pag_inicio, the form of referring to it is p1_”any-atribute”… on this page there are the hyperlinks (insertion and report viewing) and the calendar itself.
2. pag_insertion, the form of referring to it is p2_”any-atribute”… on this page there are the insertion fields and a VCF button, create and cancel ones.
3. pag_update, the form of referring to it is p3_”any-atribute”… on this page there are the fields where the information is brought up, and a VCF, update and cancel buttons.
4. pag_report, the form of referring to it is p4_”any-atribute”… on this page you can see the fields in a report format.
5. checking_events, the form of referring to it is p5_”any-atribute”… this page is like the updating one, but with letting the user modify any value, it has a VCF.
6. pag_VCF, where the VCF code is.
