Removing audio when new swf is opened

Hello, I am creating a website for myself and any guidance would be much appreciated.
Here is the issue I am running into. I have built my site in CS3 and I have used a loader.
On my site I have embedded video links, when the other video links are pressed, the audio from the prior swf keeps playing.
What can I do about this? I really appreciate any help.

Try:
SoundMixer.stopAll();
before playing new video.
And I recommend using preloaders in your site.

Want to hide mouse, then show it when new swf file opens above the movie?

Hi,
I am using a magnifying glass animation for my portfolio and I want he mouse cursor to hide, which I can work out with:
Mouse.hide()
But when someone clicks on a section it then loads a swf file above the original movie so I then want the mouse cursor to show but i'm not sure what the code would be for this?
Also then once they press on the close button of this swf file with:
on (release) {
unloadMovieNum(1);
_level0.enableBtns();
I want the mouse cursor to hide again becuase they are on the main movie again. Any ideas??

use Mouse.show() when you want the cursor to be shown and Mouse.hide() whenever you want to hide the mouse.

Flash crashing on Nightly and 6.0 when new tabs are opened

Say I open a YouTube video, it works fine until I open a new tab or open a new instance of Firefox. Flash will then crash.
It doesn't resolve itself by removing and reinstalling flash, or updating Firefox in any form.
This has only happened as of today.

Stopping external SWF when new SWF is loaded

Ok.... hmmmmm. I am currently working on a flash site that
loads external SWFs for each page. one of the SWFs contains a
sitepal movie. the sitepal has been coded to stop playing and
unload on a frame change but it keeps playing when a link in the
index is clicked and another SWF comes in. (in other words there is
no frame change. the new SWF loads but the old one keeps playing)
make sense?
I just need the site pal to stop playing when the next SWF
loads!
each link on the bottom is part of the main.swf
(index.swf)...
I need the links on the bottom to "turn off" the SWF when a
new page is choosen. the External SWFs are labled 1-5....
attached is a simple diagram in .jpg format explaining the
functionality of the site!

My files loads an external swf (containing the video) into a
container on my stage. The loaded swf contains the embedded wmv
movie file, which is quite large I might add. Do I need to cut file
size or change to flv?

InDesign CS5 Not Responding When New Document is Opened

My InDesign immediately freezes and stops responding after I open a new document and move the cursor. The pinwheel appears and then eventually I have to force quit because it won't come back. I've never produced anything on this version of InDesign before -- I've opened it maybe twice since I installed the master collection last month. I'm using a 2010 macbook pro 15" with plenty of disk space. I uninstalled InDesign and then reinstalled it -- same problem. I removed the preferences and nothing worked. I have a huge project that needs to be done tonight and I am useless without InDesign! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using Snow Leopard, OS X 10.6.4, which came preinstalled.
It's a brand new mac so I have enough space and RAM. I already uninstalled the whole suite 3 times and reinstalled it. InDesign still crashes. Then I went a step further and installed my friend's adobe suite with my serial number. The InDesign still crashed. So it must be my computer? I took it to a department tech at my college and he wants to wipe the harddrive clean and see if that helps. But I'm really anxious to do that and want it to be a last resort...

Web search stays on single tab will not open new tab when new link is open

Up until yesterday when I did a web base search and clicked on a new site there was a new tab open to show the site. Now all the sites open in the same tab. How do i correct this problem?

Hi, I'm not sure about other search engines but if you're using Google: First do a search, then on the results page, top right-hand corner > Options (cog wheel) > Search settings > 'Where results open,' and tick/check 'Open each selected result in a new browser window.' That should now open results in a new tab.
Other options: You can click the mouse wheel, or hold down Ctrl when you click, or right click > Open Link In New Tab.

Windows move off screen when new app is opened

I have a user running 10.8.5. The user opens an application like Firefox or Safari. As soon as they open another application like Microsoft Word the browser or other application will shift off the screen. The finder is allowing only one window to show up on the screen at one time. I reset all keyboard shortcuts. Checked Mission Control, Launcher and couldn't find anything that would make this happen. They only have one display connected. I removed all the Office plist files and launched as a first time launch. I still can't find what is making the windows disappear or move off screen.
I logged on as a different user and the problem went away. So it has to be something in their profile that is causing this. Any ideas?

In OS X 10.6 and prior, Expose' and Spaces had a separate System Preference setting, along with hot corners. One of the options was to force apps to open in a new space.
That changed to become Mission Control with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. I haven't really used the feature in 10.8. I can't quickly find a useful Apple link, so I'll provide this 3rd-party 'Dummies book' link which might help you sort things out. Mouse and trackpad preferences also can be set to enable gestures that work in conjunction with Mission Control.

I'm on a Windows 7 PC, but had the same problem since re-setting FF following a nasty "Ads by Info" infection. None of the suggested solutions here or on other forums worked. Finally found a setting for the NoScript plugin (a must, IMO): under the Notifications tab, unticked "Audio feedback when scripts are blocked." That was it - NoScript was blocking scripts on new tabs, causing the notification. Also happened when first clicking on an unviewed tab. A-OK now!

Mac mail locks up when new message is open

Why can't I navigate my mail page while a new compose message is open on Mavericks?

I am having the same trouble. I have 2 VIP's, one of them works fine, the other shows 1 unread message. I have deleted the VIP and re-added and gotten the same results.
This has been true for all versions of Mavericks, including the 2 updates since release. The latest update just the other day did not fix this.

Closing the current vi when new vi is opened

Hello all,
I have a "one.vi" file which calls "second.vi" file.I need to open the frontpanel and run the "second.vi"
once it's called from "one.vi" Also simultaneously i need to close the current vi(one.vi)
That is the execution should transfer from one.vi to second.vi once it is called.
Any advice please ?

To accomplish that you will have to use dynamic calls. Something like this:
I'm pretty sure that once you open the front panel, the second VI will hold itself regardless of what happens to the first, but just in case that doesn't happen, you can see there is a wait before stopping the VI. That wait is supposed to give the second VI enough time to open a reference itself, so it wouldn't be closed when the VI that called it was closed.
You can test this to see if you actually need to do this. If you do, you can also try using a method more robust than waiting (like a functional global).

Incompatible files (due to removed audio) when relinking files

I recently finished editing a project referencing files from 2 drives, my external that has all the raw footage on it and the internal HD. I understand that was my first mistake after reading a couple of these blog responses.
At first it played fine in the FCPX 10.0.6 software but now after relinking and checking the "copy to event folder" option I get an error saying "the referenced files are not compatible with event clips".
Now I have the clips in the event browser and they are unrecognized. I am pretty sure that the clips that are not relinking are doing so because I "detached the audio" on said clips and the raw footage I'm trying to reference still has audio on it. I say this becasue the clips where I just turned the audio down are still relinking just fine. This is very frustrating! PLEASE HELP ME RELINK these clips!
I have hours of edits that are now showing up as BLACK clips. Its especially frustrating as I can see the actual clips in the event folder/browser but they will not link. How do I get these clips to relink???

had that problem today while copying a FCX project from another computer, I struggled a little; but at the end I finally made it...
It's reather simple...
First of all locate all your original files in the Finder.
Then, in Final Cut X, delete all the missing videos from your event, in event browser (cmd+a & cmnd+delete) NOT THE EVENT ONLY THE VIDEOS, it will warn you something I don't remember, you just hit ok...
Then in the event you have the funny icons "Import Files" & "Import from Camera", hit the "Import Files" logo, and import all your original files that you previouslly located in the Finder.
Finally you select all your "missing" videos in your TIMELINE and then you go to "File", "Relink Project Files", and then "Locate All..." Now you just have to find the "Original Media" folder (normally: User/Movies/Final Cut Events/"Event Name"/Original Media) So now that you have the "Original Media" folder selected just click "Choose" and let FCX analize it and voilá! You're good to go!

How to pause stage/swf with audio when a new tab is opened/ out of focus in browser

I have created a container in Flash Professional CS5 for my project’s CBT. I’ve been able to script many of the features we require using AS3, but there are a couple of things I’m still trying to work out.
I would like the swf presently playing in one tab to pause and go silent when another swf is opened in a new tab (the sound is inside this externally loaded swf which is loaded inside a movie clip from buttons nested a movie clip down). I’ve tried :

This function is present when I publish the CBT with Captivate, so obviously there must be code available. You can set the Captivate button to open url in new window and pause movie.
Is there something I can add to the html file that is similar to the “has Priority” for mobile devices or is there javascript that can be added to the flash itself?

You would send a command to Flash from JavaScript when window.onblur event occurs.

FLV video ends opens new swf

I imported a FLV (progressive download) into flash.
At the end of the video I need a new swf to open.
I've been searching for the action script to do this with no
luck.
If someone could point me in the right direction I'd really

If you imported as a progressive download, you probably used
some skin for the FLVPlayback component. Give this component an
instance name (cpVideo) in this example and use an event listener
to tell you when the video is finished.

FF hangs, does not launch ,hangs when new tab opened.

FF hangs when launched and when new tab is opened , same is the case when launched in safe mode ,I have reinstalled the browser but the issue persisits.
EDIT: Found a folder on my desktop "old firefox data"

Previous versions of Firefox used to cause web pages to hang, freezing everything. Firefox 15.0.1 has gone one step further /
It hangs immediately, as soon as the welcome message ( and the picture showing a kind of crop circle) appears.
This means having to Force quit... I have done just that ( and relaunched ) three times, without success. I've also trashed FF and reinstalled it three times. No joy.
There may be a "fix" of some sort, but it shouldn't be necessary : Safari, Chrome, Opera, Camino, and SeaMonkey work fine "straight out of the box". So why not Firefox?
Besides, a "fix" would be impossible since I'd have to launch FF to apply it, and as I said, it hangs/freezes immediately.
I'm using a Mac, system 10.6.8.
