Removing songs

Hello
I wonder if anyone can help or advise me please.
I'm simply trying to removing items from my ITunes Library but I can't do it for some reason. I've tried clicking the 'remove' button & the 'delete' button on the keypad, but nothing is happening. Can anyone help or advise me please.
Thank you
Mark

check if you have read & write permissions for your iTunes music folder. in finder, right-click on it and +get info+. unlock the little padlock (you may have to enter your admin password) and change the permission settings. next, click on the little gear-shaped icon and +apply to enclosed items+ like so
you may also give everyone read & write access.
now try again removing those files.

    Hi asims01,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The information below may be able to answer your questions about how to delete songs from your iPhone:
Deleting songs downloaded to your device
    Tap the Music app.
Tap More > Songs at the bottom.
Scroll or search for the song you would like to delete from your device.
Swipe right to left on the song, and then tap Delete.
Note: You must be in Artists, Songs, or Albums view to delete songs from your device. Deleting from a playlist won't remove a song from your iOS device.
Also, this information can be found on page 64 of the iPhone User Guide for iOS 7
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.
If you have iOS 7, this will delete the song from local storage, but the song will still appear with a cloud symbol in the Music app, as you've noticed. To hide the iTunes in the Cloud purchases, navigate to Settings > iTunes & App Store, and disable "Show All: Music”
There may be a few orphaned songs on your iPhone that were partially downloaded or corrupted in some way. If that is the case, you can erase all of the music from your phone.  Follow the instructions below and select the Music app under Usage:
iPhone, iPad, and iPod: Understanding capacity

I hope this information helps ....

  • Removing songs from itunes without removing them from ipod

Is it possible to remove songs from iTunes without removing them from iPod? When I attempt to delete songs from iTunes I get a warning that they'll be deleted from iPod as well. I've got Manually manage music and videos checked under Options in the Summary window.

You can delete songs from your iTunes/computer hard drive after transferring them to the iPod, and for this you need to set your iPod to manage the iPod content manually.
However, this is an extremely risky option because when (and not if) there comes a time to restore your iPod, which is a very common fix for iPod problems, then all the music would be erased. If you no longer have the music in iTunes (or any other back up), then all that music would be lost.
What if the iPod were lost/stolen/needed repair? Again, the music would lost. I strongly recommend a back up, and if computer hard drive space is in short supply, you should seriously consider an external hard drive. They are not expensive, and the cost is well worth it when compared to the loss of all your precious music.
At the very least back up your music to either cd or dvd before deleting it, particularly any purchased music/videos, as this would have to be bought again if it were lost. See these about backing up media.
How to back up your media in iTunes.
    Buegie's complete back up strategy.
To move music from iPod to computer, check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

  • Removed songs from iTunes or iPhone keep syncing - where are they and how to permanently stop syncing?

I have about 26 songs that were purchased from iTunes that continually sync from iTunes to my iPhone.  I have removed them from my phone and have removed through iTunes, but every time I sync my phone with iTunes they come back.
I have "manually managed" (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1535) my iPhone and have removed from the "On this iPhone" section in iTunes and that works great.  However, if I try to sync a playlist the playlist syncs, but then the 26 songs I just remove return and are put back on my iPhone.
On my iPhone I have Settings > iTunes & App Store > Automatic Downloads > Music set to Off.  I have Settings > iTunes & App Store > Show All > Music set to Off.
On my iTunes, in the iPhone section, I have under the Music section "Sync Music" checked and only one playlist selected with about 49 songs in it.
I have tried deleting those unwanted 26 songs from my iPhone (http://helpios7.com/remove-songs/) and then syncing.  The 26 songs return.
I am out of ideas -- is there some iCloud connection/setting that is thinking those 26 songs need to be synced to my iPhone?
I guess my question is - why can't I just sync the one playlist without having these "rogue" 26 songs keep syncing/reappearing?
    Thanks for you help!

Go into Settings > Music and there should be an option to "Show all music" all that is needed is for it to be turned off, then only music on your phone is displayed.

  • How can I remove songs from my iphone but they still stay in my library

I have set up my music to sync only checked items, however, all the songs are still on my iphone.  I only want certain songs on my phone, but it still shows several songs that I have not checked off.  How do I remove songs from my iphone but they still will stay in my library.

What you need to do is go to music, and slide your finger to the right on the song you want to remove from your device. The song will still show in the music app but will have a cloud with an arrow beside it and you would have to re-download the song to your device to be able to listen to it. And also, this will only take the song off your device and it won't be removed from your library on iTunes. I hope this helps!

Why is my iPod Touch 5 removing songs I have synched? Plenty memory space. It seems to be deleting tracks which I can then download from iCloud (if there is wifi) but I dont want that

Seems like you have the incorrect sync settings

  • Removing songs from itunes

If I remove songs and videos from my itunes and from my computer and then i have my ipod classic 80gb set to manual...will i loose everything on my ipod when i connect it?

No, as long as your set to manually manage. Let me tell you that managing your music in this manner, relying on iPod as your only backup, you are one step away from totally losing everything. What if iPod is lost or stolen? What if you have an iPod problem that requires a restore? Either case will mean all of your library is history! If this is a case of saving space on your system's drive, how about investing in an external hard drive? They are dirt cheap these days & are very easy to use to backup your library. Hope this helps!
As a side note, you have a Mac listed as your computer, but have posted in the Windows forum.

  • How to remove songs/albums from Iphone 5 S and itunes library inorder to add new songs

I have an Iphone 5, 7.1.2 model.  I have been attempting to add new songs onto my phone but do not have any available space.  Although I have deleted and removed apps and other space eating products from my phone, I still do not have enough space to add the new songs that I would like to include on my phone.  The final option would be for me to remove some songs from my phone that I no longer listen to.  Problem is, I can't seem to find a way or any direction on just how to do that.  Wonder if anyone has successfully removed songs from their phone and/or library as a way to free up space to replace them with new songs?

    Hello there, LeowenRich.
The following Knowledge Base articles review how to sync and manage content, respectively, on your iOS device. This will allow you to choose what content you want on your iPhone:

  • Removing songs from your iPod?

I've heard of software that allows you to remove songs from your iPod. anybody know if this exists? i went to the macstore and they sold me on Tune Transfer which allows you to upload songs from an ipod to my mac but the songs remain on the iPod. thanks

    Kristin,
sounds like the software transfers a copy of the song to your computer. Check your hard drive for the music (most likely in your iTunes Music folder) and if your music is in there, you can then delete the songs from your iPod using iTunes.

  • [All Platforms][Playlists] Decide who should have the right to add/remove songs on your playlist

I got a playlist which i share with a couple of friends and everyone can add/remove songs. But i wanna spread this playlist but cant do that because people love to deleted the whole list. The solution to this is to somehow decide who will have the right to change songs.Just a little idea but shouldn't be impossible to do, in worst case i'll just make two different playlists.(Sorry for bad grammar etc.)

  • Shopping cart - remove songs, buy multiple songs?

With version 7 I can't remove songs that are in my shopping cart - the 'clear' option is gone from the Edit menu and the right click.
Also would like to purchase more than 1 song at a time but not the whole cart. I tried selecting and purchasing but it still only does 1. Any way around this?
    thanks

Hello and Happy New Year psobb!
I'm sorry to hear you are having troubles removing items from your cart. I can imagine that would be very frustrating, and I would be happy to help.
The previous instances of this issue seemed to resolve themselves after about 24-48 hours. With that said, there are certainly some things you can do that may also help correct this. We suggest performing these tasks in the order listed:
Log out of your BestBuy.com account
Clear all cookies, cache, and history information from your browser. Close the browser and reopen BestBuy.com
Add the item you’re wanting to purchase to your cart (currently as a guest)
Go to the checkout page and login to your account as a returning customer
Attempt to remove the previously unavailable item if it’s still there
After performing these steps, please let me know if this was successful! If not, I would suggest trying a different browser all together, or trying on our mobile website via a smartphone.
I hope this helps, and please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance from me.
Thank you for posting here on the forum!

  • Manually removing songs/albums from iPhone

There have been previous posts to this questions, but the newest iTunes seems to have changed.  The check box to manually manage music and videos now just allows manually managing videos.  The 'swipe' method to remove songs is tedious (1 song at a time, it does not work on albums or artists) and seems to only work on some songs; others won't delete (Yes I have the setting to 'show only local music' in the settings page).  Is there something I'm missing?  Why is this so hard?

How did those photo albums get on the iPad in the first place? If they were copied to the iPad by syncing with your computer you need to do another sync to delete them. Start iTunes on your computer and connect your iPad. Select your ad in iTunes and then click on the  photos tab In iTunes. Deselect the albums you want to delete then click on apply or sync.

  • Extracting music from older (not iCloud compatible) iPod- old PC was damaged & I want to be able to add/ remove songs using my new PC (can't unload software properly- PC damaged beyond repair).

I have an old iPod that was associated with a PC that has been destroyed (I didn't unload iTunes from it before it was damaged).  I know that if I plug the iPod into my new PC, it will erase all of my old material.
Is there a way to extract the material from my old iPod, load it onto my new PC, and be able to manage my music & keep it on my iPod?
I have an iPhone, but do not want to load all of the music onto that; my iPod (though older) still works perfectly fine.  I just need to be able to add/ remove songs, etc.
    Thanks in advance.
