Render html form & send forms's input values as params via HTTP POST

Hello,
I'm using appache commons http client to send HTTP post queries to a given url and receive HTTP response then process it.
one of the requirements of my Application is the following: one of these HTTP Post requests is supposed to return an HTML form with different html types (text filed, text area etc..) that i will need to display in my swing application. one important requirement is that i can't know in advance what the html form field types will be.. it depends on a given parameters that my application send as part of HTTP Post method (using apache http client).
I Longly searched for a simple solution to this problem . There are many solutions but each one has it's limitations :
1-i can render the html form inside a JEditorPane .but how can I collect the user entered data inside JEditorPane ? i'm not sure this swing component offers the capability to detect its html contents and more it will be difficult to know what are the values entered by user inside html form rendered by JEditorPane.
2-are there any Java Embedded browsers that offer some API to enable me detect the html form fields ,capture the data entered by user inside the html form ?
3-the solution i currently opted for is : parse html & convert html form to swing dialog. currently this solution i use works well but the cost of implementing it is high : it involves difficult parsing logic. this makes me worried .I'm not sure if i'm now using the right & easiest solution.
I need some advice on What is the simplest and clean solution to render a html form & yet be able to collect user entered inputs & send the user input values as params via java HTTP POST request ?

In my opinion, your actual solution is what you need to do. You're trying to "merge" two different kinds of view. Actually, the "easiest" way may be: if you have your data to display, you decide to show it on html or swing.Yes i believe that my current solution may be the unique one for my special requirements. when doing research about this problem i found a multitude of java libraries to convert xml to swing (ex: www.swixml.org) .However i was surprised there are no java libraries to convert HTML forms to swing dialogs -as far as i know-. this is a bit strange. The Limitation is that the developers of the server API are not Java guys and are reluctant to use an xml format that i can easily convert to swing . probably they have their own reasons as they might be using the HTML Response for some other server side work. So I was obliged to deal with an HTML stream that i need to display in my client application and process its data. in my opinion the only way to do this is by developing a HTML form to swing converter package. that's what i did now. i was only worried if i'm complicating things and if there are some easier solutions to this issue.
thanks

  • Submitting a PDF form via HTTP Post: Beginner's Questions

    Hi,
    I am completely new to PDF forms, so I have been finding the documentation and options overwhelming.
    I am hoping to get pointed to the documentation/tutorials/examples I really need.
    I would like to build a "proof of concept" for my boss.  I would like to include a screen in our Java ( JSP & Spring ) webapp where either a PDF form is embedded or is accessed via a link.
    I have
    Adobe Acrobat Distiller X standard license
    Adobe Acrobat X Standard
    Microsoft Office 2010
    I made a small, 3 field Microsoft Word form.  I then converted it via DIstiller into a PDF form.
    I then found this document about how to submit a PDF form to a server side component:
    http://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/form-submit-e-mail-demystified
    My big problem with this document it doesn't have an example nor an example showing what is going on in a full HTML page.   As I result I have some questions:
    Can I see such an example somewhere?
    Does the call to the javascript function doc.SubmitForm(urlToMyServerSideComponent) go in a script tag on the HTML page like other javascripts?
    Can I execute that submit function from an HTML button or do I need to put a "submit" button on the PDF form?
    Do I need Adobe LiveCycle in order to create a PDF form with a "submit" button?  Free versions?
    Can I send via HTTP POST ?
    Do I need Adobe LiveCycle to crate a PDF form with a digital signature?
    Is there a document/tutorial that fits where I am starting off from? ( Please no books, I am tyring to show my boss that this is something that can be done, in a reasonable amount of time, not time to get and go through a book ).
    Thanks in advance for any tips that get me pointed in the right direction
    Steve

    To answer some of your specific questions:
    2, 3. The submit form button needs to be on the PDF. You can either configure a Submit Form action or use the submitForm JavaScript method.
    4, 6: No to both questions. You can create the form in Acrobat. Such forms are knows as Acroforms, as opposed to XFA forms that are created with LiveCycle Designer. Acroforms have wider support.
    5: Yes, that's the method that's used when submitting to a web server. You have your choice of formats. The "HTML Form" option causes the form data to be submitted in the same format as an HTML form, so the same type of server-side code can be used to process the data. As Dave's tutorial shows, the server should return an FDF as the response, however, as opposed to HTML content.
    It's a mistake to try to embed the PDF in a web page. So much depends on the user's browser, PDF viewer, and how both are configured. PDF forms can be submitted directly from Adobe Reader/Acrobat, so it's not necessary for them to be viewed in a browser. Note that Adobe Reader for iOS/Android don't yet support submitting to a web server (apart from FormsCentral), but that's is supposedly being worked on.
    Since you mentioned digital signatures, be aware that for Reader users to be able to sign, the document has to be Reader-enabled, either with Acrobat Pro or LiveCycle Reader Extensions (which is not the same as LiveCycle Designer). Digital signatures in PDF forms are not yet supported on mobile devices. Also, you will want to submit the entire PDF, as opposed to just the form data, when submitting a digitally signed form.

    Hi, thanks for your reply i knew the FileUplaod was the way forward.
    I read topics advising to use the FileUpload and tried the following but it did not seem to work ( i get an HTTP Internal Server error when i try that):
    try
    DiskFileUpload upload = new DiskFileUpload();
    boolean isMultipart = FileUpload.isMultipartContent(request);
    if( isMultipart )
    List items = upload.parseRequest( request );
    Iterator iter = items.iterator();
    while( iter.hasNext() )
    FileItem fileItem = ( FileItem ) iter.next();
    File uploadedFile = new File("myreceivedfile.zip");
    fileItem.write( uploadedFile );
    }catch (Exception e)
    System.out.println("RECEIVER: " + e.getMessage());
    Also DiskFileUpload,isMultipartContent and parseRequest have a line going through the middle (horizontal middle).

  • Example of sending the po request to my partner using https post method

    I need to send the po request to my partner using https post method.
    Is there any example for my scenario in oracle b2b?
    Usecase:
    mycompany
    othercompany
    mycompany -> Posts xml document with no namespace -> othercompany
    Protocol: https

    I need to send the po request to my partner using https post method.It is possible. FYI, by default HTTPS uses post method.
    Is there any example for my scenario in oracle b2b?Not exact sample is available but yes, similar samples are available here -
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/products/b2b/index.html
    I would suggest you to go through below tutorial to have better understanding -
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/soa/b2b/collateral/B2B_TU003_ebxml.pdf
    Namespace is not an issue. It's upto you whether you like to keep it or not. From XML technology point of view, it is always recommended to have a namespace to bind each and every node with it, but I have seem cases where people don't use them.

  • Sending UTF-8 data via http post

    Hello,
    I'm generating an xml to be sent via http post method. Before sending, I'd like to convert it to utf-8, but Oracle converts it to utf-16, no matter what I do.
    This is what I send with utl_http.write_text:
       convert(l_clob,'AL32UTF8')...but I see utf-16 encoded output on the server side.
    NLS_RDBMS_VERSION is 10.2.0.1.0
    NLS_CHARACTERSET is EE8ISO8859P2
    NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET is AL16UTF16
    But I do not use NCHAR variables.
    Is http post considered like exporting, where the os's NLS_LANG is important?
    Earlier, I managed to save utf-8 xml-files without setting any NLS% params. It was with:
            UTL_FILE.PUT_RAW(
                file   => file_handle,
                buffer => UTL_RAW.CONVERT(utl_raw.cast_to_raw(buffer),
                                          'AMERICAN_AMERICA.AL32UTF8',
                                          'AMERICAN_AMERICA.'||charset
              );But this does not seem to work here, since I have to send 'text/xml'...
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Laszlo

    Not really the correct forum.. The methods you are using are more a PL/SQL issue than an XML DB issue. In general Oracle will convert the response into the character set requested by the client, are you sure your client is not requesting UTF-16.

  • How to send a String to a Servlet using a HTTP POST

    Well, I have designed a servlet that receives a HTTP POST, I was testing it using an HTML form to send (using POST) information, now, I have coded a Java App to send it a string, I don't know how to make the servlet recognize that info so it can make its work, I am posting both codes (Servlet & API) so anyone can guide me and tell me how and where to modify them
    Servlet:
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    public class xmlwriter extends HttpServlet
    public void service(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res)
    throws ServletException, IOException
    ServletOutputStream salida = res.getOutputStream();
    res.setContentType("text/HTML");
    String cadena = req.getParameter("cadena");
    File f1 = new File ("c:/salida.xml");
    FileWriter out = new FileWriter(f1);
    f1.createNewFile();
    out.write(cadena);
    out.close();
    salida.println("OK");
    Now, the JAVA API is:
    import java.io.*;
    import java.net.*;
    public class HTTPSender {
    public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
    URL url1 = new URL
    ("http://localhost:8080/XMLSender/xmlwriter");//internal site
    URLConnection UrlConnObj1 = url1.openConnection();
    HttpURLConnection huc1 = (HttpURLConnection)UrlConnObj1;
    huc1.setRequestMethod("POST");
    huc1.setDoOutput(true);
    huc1.setDoInput(true);
    huc1.setUseCaches(false);
    huc1.setDefaultUseCaches(false);
    String cadena = ""
    + "<root>\n"
    + "<tlf>$TLF$</tlf>\n"
    + "<op>$OP$</op>\n"
    + "<sc>$SC$</sc>\n"
    + "<body>$BODY$</body>\n"
    + "</root>";
         PrintWriter out = new PrintWriter(huc1.getOutputStream());
    System.out.println("string="+cadena);
    out.write(cadena);
    out.close();
    I'm a JAVA newbie, so, maybe I'm getting a bad idea of what I need to do, anyway, every (detailed) help is welcome. What my servlet should do (and it doesn't when I send the message through the API) is to write a file with the info received.

    I'm not trying to send a string from a WEB Page, I'm tryring to send it using a JAVA program, I mean, using a HTTPSender, in fact, I already have made the code to do that:
    import java.io.*;
    import java.net.*;
    public class HTTPSender {
    public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
    try {
    String cadena = "Message to be written";
    // Send data
    URL url = new URL("http://localhost:8080/XMLSender/xmlwriter");
    URLConnection conn = url.openConnection();
    conn.setDoOutput(true);
    OutputStreamWriter wr = new OutputStreamWriter(conn.getOutputStream());
    wr.write(cadena);
    wr.flush();
    // Get the response
    BufferedReader rd = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(conn.getInputStream()));
    String line;
    while ((line = rd.readLine()) != null) {
    // Process line...
    wr.close();
    rd.close();
    } catch (Exception e) {
    And modified my servlet so it can receive anything:
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    public class xmlwriter extends HttpServlet
    public void service(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res)
    throws ServletException, IOException
    ServletOutputStream salida = res.getOutputStream();
    res.setContentType("text/HTML");
    String cadena = req.toString();
    File f1 = new File ("c:/salida.xml");
    FileWriter out = new FileWriter(f1);
    f1.createNewFile();
    out.write(cadena);
    out.close();
    salida.println("OK");
    Now the problem is that, the servlet in fact DOES create the file, but....the file is empty, that means that no info is arriving to the servlet, why?, how should I send it then? I repeat FORGET about a Web Page Form, that is in the past and I don't need that.

  • Query regarding sending XML over HTTP Post request

    Hello,
    I am trying to send XML data from a server to client via HTTP Post request
    And vice versa receive the data by a client
    Assume that the xml data looks something like
    <?xml+version="1.0"?>
    So my post query will look like
    http://<IP Address>:<port>/
    POST /MessageReceiver.jsp HTTP/1.0
    Host: www.SomeHost.net
    Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded
    Content-Length: 38
    %3C%3Fxml%2Bversion%3D%221.0%22%3F%3E+
    This information will be received by the client and converted back to xml data.
    My query is - is there some library/open-source stuff that
    does the process of transcoding the entity's non-ASCII characters
    at the server side
    and decoding the URL back to human-readable form at the client side?
    i.e. I need a simple mechanism to convert
    <?xml+version="1.0"?>
    to
    %3C%3Fxml%2Bversion%3D%221.0%22%3F%3E+
    at the server side, while sending data
    and do the opposite at the client side to get the xml back.
    Also could some one confirm if JTidy is a right tool to check if the xml is well-formed?
    Or is there any other standard tool that checks for well-formed properties of xml?
    regards,
    Deepak.

    java.net.URLEncoder / URLDecoder?
    Also could some one confirm if JTidy is a right tool to check if the xml is well-formed?No, it's for parsing HTML. An XML parser is checking for well-formedness in any case.

    Hello Friends,
    We have added couple of Z fields to the standard 0002 Iinfotype table PA0002.
    I can see the custom fields in the trans : PA30 screen for infotype 002.
    Now, we want to send these custom fields value outside SAP via an IDOC.
    Here are the steps I followed :
    I created a Z Segment in an extended idoc with the structure PA0002.
    I went in transaction PM01 for Infotype 0002 and added the above created Z segment as a 2nd IDOC segment.
    In transaction PA30 for 002, I made changes to the custom field value for a person 12039.
    Created an idoc via BD21.
    IDOC generated with the Z Segment but it doesn't contain any  Z  custom fields.
    Which step am I missing here? Do I have to have a user-exit or BADI to achieve this OR can it be done without writing any code?

    I was looking in my WAS and found a couple of function modules, which can convert stuff to xml - most of them derived from crm apparently. But they're all a bit unhandy.
    How would you deal with that task?
    thanx in advance,
    matthias

    Matthias,
    Always in these discussions confusion is abound because questions is not formulated perfectly.
    First you write: "I need to set up forms which can send the query-string as xml". In this picture I have a browser, and when the request leaves the browser to go somewhere, you expect the payload to be in XML format.
    But then you write this example: "?name=john&job=nap&...". Hmmm.. here things are just simple name/value pairs. No XML.
    And then suddenly you write "I was looking in my WAS ...can convert stuff to xml". So now we are suddenly on the server, without XML in hand, but wanted it.
    All confusion. So let we first draw a picture:
    (1) browser --XML--> XI
    (2) browser --name/values--> WebAS(BSP) --XML--> XI
    In scenario 1, the browser prepares the XML document directly, and sends it directly to the XI server. I know of no technique to achieve this form HTML. Your posted examples using the ActiveX XML object in the browser is probably the only way to go. Will just require some JavaScript to find all the correct formfields, and feed all of this into XML object.
    In scenario two you just submit a normal request to the server. You use something such as get_form_fields and concatenate to build the XML string. Then you make an outgoing HTTP connection to XI using the HTTP Client. Somewhere we have examples of how this can be done.
    But first, for me at least, is the question of what you wish to achieve.

  • How to make form input value a dataset value?

    Have a form and one hidden field, i want the value to come from
    a dataset.

    <div spry:repeat="ds3" class="RowContainer">

    Spry dataset renders correctly in a div on the page, but can't get the same value in the form input value?
    thanks for your help,
    Jim Balthrop

    thanks for your help.
    The php i knew was the wrong code.
    the spry region not surrounding the form was the answer.
    so i did it this way and it worked.
    <div spry:region="ds4"><form method="POST" name="client_bid" id="client_bid">
        <input name="vehicle_ID" type="hidden" id="vehicle_ID" value="<?php echo $row_rs_vehicle['vehicle_ID']; ?>" />
        <input name="buyer_ID" type="hidden" id="buyer_ID" value="<?php echo $row_rs_login['client_ID']; ?>" />
        <input name="auction_ID" type="hidden" id="auction_ID" value="<?php echo $row_rs_auction['auction_ID']; ?>" />
        <input name="buyerbid" type="hidden" id="buyerbid" value="{ds4::column0}" />
        <input name="submitbuyer" type="submit" id="submitbuyer" value="Submit Bid">
      </form></div>
    thanks again.

  • OTL Timekeeper Form Custom Field map to specific Element Input Value

    Hello Everyone,
    I have the below requirement.
    1. Create a custom field in OTL Timekeeper Form. This field is based on the Element Selected on the timecard.
    2. Once the Timecard is transferred to Payroll, the custom field should go to a specific input value of that element.
    I know how to perform Step 1 above. But i am unable to find out how i can map the value in custom field to a specific Input value of the element.
    Any inputs are appreciated.
    Regards,
    Jay

    Any tips people?
    Can this be achieved?
    This is what i have done so far.
    1. Created a new Value set for the custom field.
    2. Created an alternate mapping to map the value set value to InputValue13.
    3. Created the alternate name.
    4. Added the alternate name to 'OTL Alternate Names' DFF.
    5. Added the Alternate name to the 'Preferences'.
    Testing:
    1. Created a Timecard populating the custom field.
    2. Timecard submitted and approved successfully.
    3. I verified that the custom field value goes into attribute13 of hxc_time_attributes where the attribute category is the corresponding element (should it be against the attribute category: Dummy Element Context? If Yes, then how to do it?).
    4. Then i ran the program 'Transfer Time from OTL to BEE'. This transferred the values into hxt_timecards_f, hxt_sum_hours_worked_f, hxt_det_hours_worked_f. But nowhere in these tables do i see the custom value.
    Did i miss any step? I did not define anything in the 'Define Mapping Components' of Deposit/Retrieval Process because InputValue13 is already part of it unter type 'Dummy Element Context'.
    5. Since it is not in hxt tables, i did not find it in pay_batch tables too.
    Any guidance is appreciated.
    Regards,
    Jay

  • Clear form input values

    Hi
    I hav a form which contains 2 input text boxes.
    User clicks on submit and moves to different view after filling form.
    these values are mapped to context so that i can display them in next page.
    Now wen i click on back button in view2....it takes me back in view 1.
    I get my old values already there.
    I wish if i could reset my form wen i Travers back to it.
    1 method to do so is coding in init() method.
    that i reinitialize my context in init method....
    but i there any other way to do so....
    thanks in advance

    I am also new to this.
    But u can use this on ur plug event.
    wdThis.wdGetContext().currentContextElement().setCtx_firstname("");
    wdThis.wdGetContext().currentContextElement().setCtx_lastname("");
    Does anyone know of a better way? like setting a property
    Tell me if it works

    Any help would be much appreciated. I really need to get this page to work. The website is www.bounceri.com if that helps.
    Thank you,

    I used the same form that is on another website I update but didn't design.
    I just changed the properties so the information I wanted was different. How
    do I change the form processor so the script is on my site? This part of
    design is new to me. My hosting is at godaddy if that helps at all.
    Thank you so much fro your reply. Please advise.

    there's no recipient property for gatherForm, no subject
    property, no email property and no body property. other than
    sending nothing the cgi file is expecting, you're doing
    fine.
