Reopen Instance

I have an ugly requirment:
One of my Process having 5 level approval process.. 5 interactive activity.. Depending on conditions..Instance can end from any one of the Activity directly. Lets say. somebody done some mistake and submitted it and process ends. What would be the best design/practice to reopen the instance and move it to same stage, so that same user can rework on it . I have all the information about input in my database.
any suggestion ?

Hi Vin,
If your work item instance has to reach the End activity, there is no way to move it back into the process unless you create a new work item instance with the same variables set as you're describing.
There are typically three objections customers usually have with recreating instances:
1. When you recreate the instance you will lose the audit trail event information that the original instance in the End activity had. I don't know of a work around for this issue.
2. As you mentioned, you will probably want the work item instance to start in a specific activity inside the process (instead of starting in the activity that follows the Begin activity). Normally this would mean that you would need to have the Begin activity have conditional transitions to about every activity in the process. I uploaded an example project that shows how to send the new instance to a specific acitivty inside the process without cluttering the process up with the unnecessary conditional transitions. Download this Oracle BPM 10g project from http://www.4shared.com/file/97049398/dec5c3b8/AutoDistributeInstances.html. This process automatically distributes instances into the appropriate activities in the target Oracle BPM process without having to draw transitions from the Begin into each of the individual downstream activities. As new instances are created in the process, if they have anything in the "targetActivity" instance variable they are temporarily sent to the "Queue Waiting for Distribution" activity (otherwise the instance proceeds normally to "Activity A" in the process). The work item instances you're "recreating" would temporarily wind up in this activity's queue. In the process there is a Global Interactive activity that automatically removes all the instances from the queue activity and places them directly into their respective target activities (Activity A, B, C...) based on the value stored in the "targetActivity" variable. Hi Evans,
As far as I know, once all the steps are completed, you cannot re-open the steps of that instance. The only alternate would be to delete everything from the tables pertaining to that instance and recreate the instance.

How to reopen and display more than one instances of the same subvis?

I know this has been discussed a lot before. But my task is a little bit different from what has been mentioned. What I want is, click a button to open one front panel by calling one subvi with one parameter, and while the first one is open, click another button on the main vi to open another front panel for the same subvi but with different parameter. Is it possible? I attach my preliminary program, and hope you guys modifiy them to make what I want done. Thank you.

Giving each instance different start paramters is just a matter of making a functional global that holds the startup parameters (e.g. as a flattened string) and allows the new VIs to search for the data that belongs to them...I make a copy of the VI, insert the data for that instance into a 2D string array; in the first column I put the name of the new instance, in the second column a flattened version of the inut parameters..the first thing the instances do when they are run is to call the functional global with their name as input and search as the chosen functio
n...the global finds the row contining the name and sends out the parameters...It can then either erase the entry for that VI immediately, or you can let the instance send a delete command when the instance terminates instead...if you want access to the startup parameters other places as well as long as the instances exist... Using a flattened representation is off course not necessary.
You can use VI server to set controls when you run the new instance, but that functionality is not supported in built applications...hence the use of a functional global instead...

Did you try booting off your Install disk holding the c key down. From here you can get to the drop down menu just a few clicks in (you are not going to install) and run the Disk Utility>Repair Disk. See if it will let you do this.

Well I'll guess you're using iPhoto 11:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Why Are There Multiple Instances Of Firefox Preparing To Access Internet According To Firewall Log When I'm Not Launching Them And Nothing Appeared On My Screen

I had closed Firefox after briefly running it and then tried to reopen it anew but got a message that said "Firefox is already running but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."
I logged off my computer, and later restarted. However, when I checked my Firewall log it showed that during the minute I had my computer on earlier there were about a dozen instances of "Firefox is preparing to access the internet" which were recorded just seconds apart.
I don't have the problem now -- restarting apparently took care of the issue -- but I don't understand why there were so many instances of Firefox preparing to access the internet when I was not clicking on it all those times, the one time I did I got a message that it already was running, and there were no tabs on my screen to reflect all those supposed instances.
Thanks for any insight that folks can offer.

Were that Firefox processes or plugin-container processes?

In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes", try to exclude the cookies in case you currently have selected this.
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings

Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.
Firefox will try to remove cookies created by plugins in case you clear the cookies and that can result in plugin-container processes getting created.

When I search for a file, A) it asks me if it's a name, or it wont produce anything, and B), its slower than in prior OS versions and in some instances I have to toggle to a different directory and go back to my original directory in the search: menu bar or the search wont produce anything... Very buggy.

It appears to me that network file access is buggy in Maverick.
In my case I have a USB Drive attached to airport extreme (new model) and when I open folders on that drive they all appear empty. If I right click and I select get info after a few minutes! I get a list of the content.
It makes impossible navigate a directory tree.
File access has been trashed in Maverick.
They have improved (read broken) Finder. I need to manage a way to downgrade to Lion again.

Can I open more than one instance of CC5.2?

In my experience, I have not been able to find a way to open more than one instance of CC5.2. If I want to run an SOD user analysis and an SOD role analysis, for example, I have to run one and wait for the results to return before I can run the next analysis.
If I open a new instance of Internet Explorer and type in the url for CC5.2 while CC5.2 is already running in a separate instance, it overwrites whatever is running and reopens CC5.2 all over again.
In CC4.0 I was able to open multiple SAP sessions and run multiple SOD reports. I understand 5.2 is a web app, but it seems the code should be smart enough to allow me to open multiple IE instances to run multiple analyses.
Am I missing something?

Hi Sandy,
What about option to run your analysis jobs on the background ?
You can still be in your IE session, but schedule several analysis to run on the background. On completion of the jobs, you'll be able to check output results for each of them.
Advantage of this is that it also doesn't depend on your link between your machine and CC server which could be an issue for the foreground jobs.

How do i get a folio to default to the cover page when the app is closed and reopened.

The folio i'm making is for a 'show and tell' sort of thing, it needs to be quite linear so has top start from the cover every time it's opened and then be read through. I know it's as easy as just using nav to return to cover but the people i'm making this for have 0 knowledge and 0 willingness to learn therefore i'd like the folio to reset to the cover page whenever the content viewer is closed and reopened.
I had it working on a previous iteration but on my latest version it remembers what page i'm on when I reopen the viewer (logical and handy I know but not in this instance).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tried to upgrade from firefox 3.6.2 to 3.6.3, error message says another instance of firefox is running, then 3.6.2 opens. This occurs when i start firefox after restarting the computer, or when i try to install the upgrade

Whenever i try to open firefox, i get a message that firefox cannot install the upgrade because another instance of firefox is running. Then firefox 3.6.2 will start. running windows 7 64 bit. This will occur every time i try to open firefox, after rebooting or any time i close it and reopen firefox.

Do a clean (re)install and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can skip the step to create a new profile, that is not necessary for this issue.

According to your description, SQL Server installation center asks for SQL Server 2008 installation media and you don't know where to find it. This could happen when the temporary folder to which the installation file is extracted doesn't exist. You could
follow the steps below to troubleshoot the issue.
1.In Microsoft Download Center, download the SQL Server 2008 installation file to your local drive and click the file, you will see that the file will be extracted to a temporary folder. Please make a note of what directory it is extracted to. For example,
it could be in c:\ followed by a folder name which will be a set of random letters and numbers "fd7667bgbb33gg2g".
2.Copy that temporary folder to your desktop and close the SQL Server Installation Center window.
3.Reopen SQL Server Installation Center. Click on the installation tab and install. When it asks for SQL Server 2008 installation media, browse to the instillation media folder(that temporary folder) which is copied to your desktop and continue the installation
process.

I close Firefox then when I try to reopen it later it tells me its still running and I should close that before opening it again... But its NOT running in a way where I can close it!?! What should I do?

I am using Firefox in a Windows 7 64-bit environment. I have what I feel is a fairly standard set of programs installed. MS Office, Adobe Photoshop, Nero Burning ROM, Diskeeper... etc. And I have the latest regular version of Firefox installed, version 3.6.13.
And lately 2, out of 3, times I close Firefox it must not be closing correctly. But I cannot tell until I need to reopen it. Then I get an error message saying that it's already running and I should close the "current instance" of the software. Now I can either start up the task manager and kill it ... or I can restart my computer. And I've done both. But it keeps happening.
So I am wondering what might be causing this to happen? And If there is anything I can do to correct the issue?

Adobe CEF Helper multiple instances causing problems using newest CC 1.5.1.369

I just reinstalled all CC and Apps after a clean refresh wipe of PC. Within one week I am having several crashes and lockups and other strange behavior while using Photoshop, Indesign and other apps.
The lockups have been getting progressively worse, starting with very short delays while switching between apps or even switching to desktop to mouse click a file icon there which seemed almost like my machine would get focused on whatever app I was in and would not immediately release when I switched to do other things. Now the lockups are getting longer. Photoshop is also not fully closing down. So later if I reopen it, a photoshop process is still running in Task Manager and I must force it down before I can open a new file in a new instance of photoshop.
Today I had one complete crash of PS, as well as some strange lockup when I had two small ad files open. We are talking 1/6th page ads - small. I had them open side by side when it locks up and only thing I can move is the mouse curser which has changed to an "unallowed" icon (circle with slash). Rest of application and tools were locked up. In one of the files it would let me click a layer in the file and it would jump around the page. I checked Task manager and multiple CEF helpers were running around 30-50,000K private memory working set, and one of the CEF helpers was fluctuating between 13-20% or so of CPU usage. I immediately ended that service and photoshop started working again and I was able to save the files. I'm still noticing other problems like not being able to select multiple items at one time to copy/paste seen both in Indesign and Adobe acrobat pdf files.
I remember hearing about this issue long ago and checked the forums. Low and behold the long time Adobe CEF Helper problem thread was closed by a staffer in Feb, 2014, stating the following:

I am having problems with the CEF helper and I have CC 1.5.1.369 as far as I can tell, on a fresh install a week old.
System:
Windows prof 7 sp1 64bit, 32gb ram, SSD main drive and mechanical data drive
Items added to this PC are autodesk products and Adobe CC Apps. I don't have a number of addons for CC apps like photoshop, just one plugin for photoshop called Geographic Imager.
Hopefully there is something more subtle I can try besides wiping my PC and reinstalling all the apps and settings again. A pc refresh and install this time with up to date CC and Apps was meant to fix all my broken file associations issues from previous updates - which it did. But was hoping not to end up with a dreaded CEF helper issue. Any help would be appreciated as this seems to be getting worse daily.
Other note, I turned off Syncing of settings when I first started noticing issues. Haven't tried much else besides ending CEF helper services when forced to.

I just want to note that my recommendations led my clients to purchase more than 5 licences of FMIS/AMIS througt the time.
As I see how low is the passion to react to any problem on Adobe side, I would have probably changed my mind.
This is really pain in the *** as any call to adobe official contact (taken on mind that to find one is a big quest by itself) lead just to reply "pay nasty amount for our consultancy Sir!" and it does not look any better here....
I am no novice on FMS/AMS platform, working with it more than 6 years throught many projects and I would not ask for some stupid questions which could be solved just by looking to documentation or could be solved by some performance eperience.

While editing photos iPhoto shut down. The unexpected shut down message appeared and I pressed re-open. When it reopened I had lost my most recent import as well as imports from the past 2 weeks. When I try to re-import it says that they already exist

After an import of about 20 black & white photos to iPhoto I was editing one when iPhoto shut down. The "unexpected shut down" message was displayed. I clicked reopen, which it did. However, my last import was completely missing. Not only that, everything I had imported, adjusted and filed for the past 2 weeks was also missing. It has still saved all of the albums I created but all show "no photos".
When I try to re-import from my back-up, iPhoto says "can't import, photo is already in the library".
Can anyone help?
