Repeating a timeline

Hi, I have a MC with a 20 frame animation. I want its time
line to repeat a couple of times but not forever. Besides copying
and pasting frames, is there a way to set the number of repeats?
and then just have it stop on the last frame? Isn't there a setting
somewhere?
Appreciate the help.

It can be tricky depending upon what the animation is that
you want to repeat.
Try this. In the first frame, you put:
quote:
count=0;
then in the last frame of the animation:
quote:
//takes the value of the count variable and adds 1 to it each
time
count += 1;
//as long as the count is less than or equal to 5 go back to
the 10th frame and play it
if (count<=5) {
gotoAndPlay(10);
} else {
//otherwise stop it
stop();

  • How do I get continuous replay of a video created in Premiere Elements 13?

I created a video in Premiere elements 13 and I would like it to play continuously.  Elements 10 had a specific marker that could be added to the end of the video and cause it to go back to the beginning.  I don't know how to accomplish this in Elements 13.

    Mortsphotos
Bottom line: I see no difference between 10 and 13 in what you may be asking about.
Please read the longer reply below, and then we can discuss this further.
    Details
If you are talking about looping video....
I have never run into the looping feature that you attribute to Premiere Elements 10 Editor (or any other version).
Was this supposed to be a Premiere Elements 10 Editor Timeline content looping feature for viewing only within the project or a feature that allowed the export to loop without intervention of the player after the export?
    For looping of files
    a. find a repeat button on the player
    b. repeat the Timeline content on the Timeline as many times as you want a repeat and then export the whole Timeline.
    c. if you want to have a looping DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, consider
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE: Looping DVD-VIDEO on DVD Disc
If you are talking about disc menu navigation of a disc menu...
I wonder if the above is really what you are asking about. Are you asking about placing stop markers at the end of a particular movie in a multi movie Timeline so that the viewer
selects one Timeline movie from a choice of many, the selected movie plays, and, when playback of that particular movie is finished, it returns the viewer to the main menu? For that
you put a stop marker at the end of the individual movies on the Timeline. You never put a stop marker at the end of the last item on the Timeline. Problems if you do.
Please review and consider. Please supply more details. And, then we will discuss this further. If you need clarification on anything that I have written, please do not hesitate to ask.
We can go at whatever pace that you want in the troubleshooting.

  • FCP 7.03 dupe frame inconsistency

Dupe frame detection selected but none detected even though the same clip was edited repeatedly in timeline.
Trashed prefs (Preference Manager v1.07), made some dupe in a different project and it worked.
Went back to project with initial problem and it still doesn't detect them.
    Any ideas?

You can over ride the sequence setting method if you use the timeline layout popup...maybe that's how you have done it in the past, otherwise our experiences differ...but that isn't the point at this juncture.
You say you've trashed preferences with preference manager and yet it's still not acting correctly.
Have you tried repairing permissions and then re-booting the computer. for grins I would suggest going ahead and trashing preferences once more then repair permissions on your system drive and re-boot. See if that helps FCP to act more normally.

  • PE7 Any way to have DVD VOB 'loop' when you 'play all'

    Hi,
I want to have my DVD VOB..   autorun (which it does) and loop..  which it does not.   Is there any way to create it in PE 7 to loop?
I have found the  opendvd.pvm  xml file..  that may be where the loop command needs to be placed...     and maybe this needs to be done in a '2 step' job.
create the VOB..  and associated files.. then update the opendvd.pvm file with the needed syntax (outside of PE7) and burn a second DVD.
Other way is to do brute force..and repeat the scenes multiple times before buring the DVD VOB.. but that's pretty ugly.. but a 'choice'
    Any suggestions/ideas are appreciated...
    Thanks.

No looping with just Premiere Elements 7, EXCEPT, if the Timeline is not huge and you repeat the Timeline content on the Timeline multiple times. For that matter you could look into the TV's player controls to see if there is a "repeat" button at that level that you could set at playback.
A popular way to get that loop was to burn to folder, not burn to disc, in Premiere Elements and then use the pgedit software to do the rest. The procedure is still listed on the pgedit web site, but the link to the details does not open for me.
    http://download.videohelp.com/r0lz/pgcedit/
I did come across another free software called InfoEdit that might do the job with the Premiere Elements burn to folder route.

  • Single clip repeated 4 times in FCP timeline. SP 2 issue

    Hi all,
Single clip repeated 4 times in FCP timeline, when I apply an effect to clip for in SP2 its applying it to all three clips? Why?

That's the way it works. You have 4 instances of one thing, you change one you change them all.
What you want to do is first Clip>Replace with Independent Audio File Project (this creates a new copy of that one instance).
Then when you effect that clip it is not affecting the other 3 files, just the new one you've created.
I suppose one could argue that the program should do that for you, after all some other program I use works that way - it creates a new file while not affecting the others (actually it gives you the option of both methods). Feel free to file a feedback request.

  • Keeps repeating timeline

    Encore CS3 -
I try and do a simple DVD author & burn...a 10 minute timeline with 1 chapter. I want the DVD to play after bing inserted in a DVD player, play the timeline and then stop. It does not. No matter what I set the end action to do... it keeps repeating over and over and over. I've even tried adding a second chapter at the end (In the black) and setting that chapter to end...it still repeats...any ideas. I have CS4.. but have not installed it yet.
    Disc Settings:
    first play - chapter 1
    override - chapter 1
title button - (will only change from "Not Set" to "stop", it's set to "Stop")
Main Timeline - (timeline) chapter 1
    Chapter settings:
    end action - Stop
    Override - stop
    timeline Settings:
    Main timeline - Chapter 1
    end action - stop
    Menu remote - stop
(No menus are in this project)
I have been adding 3-4 minutes of black at the end of the edit, hoping the viewer will turn of the DVD playey before it repeats... not a solution, but a work around.
I reset the settings to this: (& it seems to have stopped repeating endlessly - in the preview mode, anyway)
    Disc Settings:
    first play - chapter 1
    override - chapter 1
title button - (will only change from "Not Set" to "stop", set to "Stop")
    Main timeline - Chapter 1
    Chapter settings:
end action - (Timeline) Chapter 1 (THIS IS THE ONLY CHANGE FROM THE ORIGINAL SETTINGS)
    Override - stop
    Timeline settings:
    End action - Stop
    Override - (grayed out)
    Menu remote - Stop
Even though after "Check project" it says "End action will not execute because of end action on final chapter point"...in the preview mode, it does not repeat...doesn't make sense..but I'm going to burn a DVD and see if the DVD plays like the client wants it too ???
    David

Remove all overrides from your project.
Misuse of overrides is far and away the #1 cause of DVD navigation problems.

  • IMovie is repeating clips after the timeline is over! HELP!!

I have a 40 minute iMovie project. At the end of the 40 minutes, imovie continues, past the end of the timeline, and is repeating video from earlier in the project(about 10 minutes earlier) without any audio, as I extracted the audio to make way for a soundtrack. I tried putting in a blank clip, as well as deleting all of my chapter markers, but it's still doing that. How do I stop it? This is important, as this project is making me $600, and I need to correct it quickly!

Tried quitting iMovie and restarting to see if it still does that?
Sometimes iMovie plays sections of video and/or audio from a memory cache, to avoid a slowdown involved in reading from the hard disc.
It's just possible that it's playing back material in its memory, as well as what's in your Timeline.
It's also possible that if you've moved around your extracted audio clip(s), you may have something (..audio and/or video..) positioned way beyond where you think your Timeline ends. Have you used the scrollbar at the bottom to scroll all the way, as far as humanly possible, to the extreme right, to see if there's nothing lurking there? ..And do that with 'Zoom' set to its lowest value, so that you really are scrolling to the very end of the movie.
I've had this kind of trouble in early versions of iMovie 4, but never had it yet in iMovie (5) HD.

  • Why do the thumbnails in a clip need to repeat themselves in the timeline?

I'm confused about something.  When I drop a clip into the timeline, if I want the video and audio to show then the thumbnail for the clip basically repeats itself for the length of the clip in the timeline.  In FCP 7 when a clip is dropped in the timeline there is one thumbnail on the left and then just the length of the clip.
It is very hard to see clip separation in the timeline if it's a constanst stream of thumbnails - anyway to turn this off???

Tom, you seem a little negative - just an observation from someone who is knew to this board.  I'm just trying to get an understanding of a new application.  I of course, am only working from my knowledge of FCP 7.  I've worked in FCP since 2002 so I'm very aware of FCP 7.  I'm not trying to make FCP X into 7 but I am wondering how some of the SIMPLE things that were able to be achieved in FCP 7 seem so complex (and maybe not even possible) in FCP X...
The thumbnails don't NEED to repeat themselves, it's silly.  I've played with the settings at the lightswitch and none of them controls the amount of thumbnails that are displayed.  Having all those thumbnails makes it VERY hard to see clip separation.  If you call that trying to fit FCP X into FCP 7 then so be it, but it seems pretty logical to me to ask for this option...
Hope you're having a lovely day!

  • How to I get the timeline clips to repeat their photo icon so I can identify what each layer is?

I remember when CS6 was premiered it showed the layers repeating the icon / jpg preview of each layer when you zoomed in to help you identify tracks while editing. But I have never been able to figure out how to turn that feature on and Figured I should probably figure it out because it's been bugging me for over a year.
    Any help would be appreciated

  • Copies of repeater are not extending (3D timeline animation steps)

Trying to make a 3D timeline animation by following this tutorial video: After Effects Video Tutorial: 3D Timeline Animation on Vimeo.
But faced a very beginning problem: when I made the copies of the rectangles, they do not extend as they should have (The blue indicator stays on the first one, please see the first image). Unlike the video which he has the blue indicator extending all the way (please see the second image).  I think this affects how every composition connects to each other later. (Please see the 3rd image compared to the 4th image from the video).
I will very appreciate if somebody could help me out with this. Thank you!

I see nothing wrong in your pictures. The bounding box display depends on what property/ item/ shape group is selected and there is a difference between certain procedural items vs. normal shape paths. A bit confusing, but you'll get the hang of it.

  • Is there a way of changing the alpha value of a symbol in its own timeline without ActionScript

I'm trying to make an animated banner ad where radio waves emanate from a device as they fade in and fade out.
I got it working, then realized I'd like the radio wave animation to loop repeatedly while the text in the ad comes in and out, so I thought maybe it should be a symbol and have the animation take place in its own timeline.
Problem is, when I make the symbol and double click to enter its timeline, the color effect menu disappears.
I don't feel comfortable in ActionScript yet. Is there no other way to do what I want?
Can I create the radio waves as a separate animation file, then import it into the main animation?

You should be able to make seperate keyframes and then modify the alpha of any MovieClip or Graphic objects within that keyframe. After that right click somewhere between the keyframes on the timeline and select "Create Classic Tween".
NOTE: You have to have the keyframe selected on the timeline to be able to modify properties. So if you have a keyframe on frame 1, frame 10 and frame 20 set the alpha on frame 1 at 100%, frame 10 at 0% and frame 20 at 100% and it will fill in the blanks.
    EDIT:
If the objects in your inner symbol are not a MovieClip or Graphic select all and then Right Click and select "Convert to Symbol" to make them one.

  • Greetings, I am working in Final Cut Pro 7. In the timeline some clips show as offline. I tried going to sequence and reconnecting to media but it does not work. I can still see the video in the timeline and work with it. It just has the red box.

If the clips are not actually missing, you could try to refresh the timeline by using cmd-0 and then going to the timeline options tab. Then select name only where it says "thumbnail display". Press ok to accept the change, then repeat the process to add thumbnails back to your timeline.

  • Can't see clip preview in clip or timeline view

This may be a simple problem, but I am brand new to this. I am making a movie out of photos, and the process seems simple. I drag a photo from my iphoto library (from the photos pane) into the clip view (or timeline). The image is imported and the movie looks correct when played, but in the clip (or timeline) view below all imported clips are just black. So I can't really easily edit the clips because I have no idea which one is which (besides looking at the filename!). The images I am importing are jpegs and like I said it has no problem playing the movie correctly I just see what I am working with in the clip view. Any suggestions?

    Welcome to the forum!
The image is imported and the movie looks correct when played, but in the
clip (or timeline) view below all imported clips are just black.
    Very strange.
To make sure we understand what you see... The imported image plays okay on the timeline after it's imported, but its thumbnail in the timeline is black. Instead of the thumbnail showing the imported image, the thumbnail is black. Correct?
Does the imported clip play black too?
The only thing I can think of that makes a clip play black is when the Ken Burns Effect is set to pan above/below the image or left/right of the image. Then, instead of importing the image, Ken Burns imports the black border along one side of the image.
To unset the pan so Ken Burns is centered over the image, do this:
    1. Click on any image in the iPhoto library.
    2. Turn ON the Ken Burns checkbox.
    3. Click in the "Start" half of the Start/End thingy.
    4. Drag the zoom slider (the slider with the small/large face profile) a bit to the right, then all the way to the left.
    5. Click on the "End" half of the thingy and repeat #4.
Now the import is centered. If the pan was causing the problem, that should fix it.

  • Audio tracks don't show up properly on sequence when enlarging timeline

On the timeline, audio tracks don't show up properly, by either appearing out of sync or by repeating itself when I enlarge it to work on it. Other sequences in the project work fine, and I've tried coping a pasting this sequence or parts of it to a new one and I still have the problem. Attached below is an example of the problem. This sequence is about 40 minutes long.  Thanks for any help. Lucian

Is it the same if you uncheck the rectified audio box?
