Replace comma for semicolon in Dashboard prompts?

Hi all,
When multiple values are selected in Filters or Dashboard prompts, a semicolon is seen between multiple values, but a comma is applied in background (can be seen in Logical Query). Is it possible to change comma for any other symbol for example semicolon (;)? If yes, where does this change take place (what are the configuration files need to be changed) and how will BI Server response to this change?
Thanks in advance.

I don't think you can change that. Even if it is possible, report will give no results as the filter values are not separated with commas because the SQL query will carry that symbol.

It sounds like your hard disk is not accessible, I would first you need to start your iMac with the system DVD that came with your system, then format the hard drive with disk utility, then install the Mac OS X on to your newly formatted drive.

  • Require User Input for either dashboard prompts not BOTH ! !

    Fellow Earthlings,
How to make required for user input for either of dashboard prompts not BOTH. !!!!!!
Like if they enter '123' on DashP1 they need not have to enter DashP2 value and vice versa on same dashboard prompt.
I have some dashboard prompts and I am using presentation variables to pass these values to my analysis.
DashP1 - Pvar1 - Default All columns - User can type in values
DashP2 - Pvar2 - Default All columns - User can type in values
In my report , I am using a SQL filter to do a table.column_name LIKE (concat('@Pvar1}{'%')) same for the other table.column_name LIKE (concat('@Pvar2}{'%')) [ This is because users want to do a partial match on the value.
So when the user is typing the values like 123 on DashP1 they are able to search, which is good. However on DashP2 which defaulted to all column values, they just erase/delete that and pass no value to it. So it remains the prompt vlaue is looking like -Select Value state which is not good. :(
Now when there report is run for that DashP1 -value as '123' obviously we get no results since erasing that is causing it not to pass any value and when i check the query log it passes '@Pvar2'. This is causing no results.
So I thought making it Required user input would resolve the issue, however the new request is to have either DashP1 or DashP2 require user input.
Please advice if there a way to solve this problem.
If this any way possible with Action links or any other methods.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Changing 'All Column Values' in dashboard prompt

In OBIEE 11g, how to modify the dashboard prompt All label value? I do not want to change value in XML file , because it will impact all dashboard prompt value.
Is it there better method to implement this problem?
    For example:
In dashboard prompt-->edit -->options--->tick 'Include "All Column Values" choice in the list', so I can view '(All Column Values)' value in prompt. Customers want to changed this value, such as 'all values'. Is it possible? Thanks.

    Hi,
Can do it using Union All is prompt SQL and presentation variable in report.

  • How to retain the presentation variable values for Dashboard Prompt

I've a dashboard prompt with date and two other drop down field, with default value as yesterday's date set for date and All Values set for other two drop down list. Presentation Variables are D1, P1 and P2 respectivilly
I'm using GO URL from "Report A" and passing presentation variable to navigate to other report (Report B) that works fine. eg:
    '<a href = saw.dll?GO&path=/shared/Reports/ABC/ReportB&Action=Navigate&p0=1&p1=eq&p2="-%20Time"."Next%20Day"&p3=@{d1}>Test</a>'
From Report B I'm using Dashoard URL to go back to Previous Report like:
    <div class="XUIPromptEntry minibuttonOn">
    Return to Previous Screen</div>
    This also works fine.
My problem is that, when users selects different values in the Main dashboard prompt for date and other other two drop down and navigates to other report (Report B), and from Report B, when user returns to previous screen (Main Dashboard), Prompts values gets refreshed to original default values.
Is there any way to retain the values of presentation variable in dashboard Prompt when I return to main dashboard from Report B?
    I'd appreciate your help.
    Thanks

Change your dashboard url include the column and column value for the date column sample shown below,
    [a href=saw.dll?Dashboard&PortalPath=/shared/sample/_portal&page=pagename&Action=Navigate&col1=Dim.Date&val1=@1>Return to Previous Screen[/a>
In my second report Date is the first column so I referenced it's value as @1 in the dashboard URL
    note: replace [ with <

  • Problem while passing parameters for dashboard prompts in URL

    Hi,
We have created a dashboard on OBI which has some dashboard prompts. We have a requirement that we shall open the dashboard from an external application. We are doing this by invoking an URL. We want the dashboard to turn with prompts already being applied.
I was trying to open the dashboard with the following URL
    http://<servername:port>/analytics/saw.dll?Go&PortalPath=/shared/Procurement%20and%20Spend/_portal/Supplier%20Performance&Page=Overview
But when I use the above Go URL the dashboard is not coming up. It shows the following error
         No Columns
The request cannot be performed because it contains no columns.
When I use the following URL(which has the keyword 'Dashboard' not 'Go') the Dashboard is coming up fine
    http://<servername:port>/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&PortalPath=/shared/Procurement%20and%20Spend/_portal/Supplier%20Performance&Page=Overview
There are dashboard prompt defined in dashboard. When I try to send the filter value via URL(given below) it is not working. I just see the Dashboard coming up.
    http://<servername:port>/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&NQUser=Administrator&NQPassword=SADMIN&PortalPath=/shared/Procurement%20and%20Spend/_portal/Supplier%20Performance&Page=Overview&P0=1&P1=eq&P2=Supplier."Supplier%20Name"&P3=1+AccessMicron
when we use the keyword Dashboard in the URL , can we pass the parameter for the dashboard proimpt ..? If we can do that .. how to do that ..? Is it the same manner that we do for Go URL. ..?
Please let me know if you need any more information on this.
Thanks in advance for your time,

    Hi Raj,
Raghu is correct, you need the Action=Navigate to make prompts work, otherwise you get move to the target dashboard without prompts.
I think you figured it out your self, but the ?Go is for Answer Requests and ?Dashboard is for navigating to dashboards.
I would also recommend using col1="COLUMN_NAME" and val1=value syntax instead of the P0,P1, etc, etc. It's a little easier to read and implement.
    Try this:
    http://<servername:port>/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&Action=Navigate&NQUser=Administrator&NQPassword=SADMIN&PortalPath=/shared/Procurement%20and%20Spend/_portal/Supplier%20Performance&Page=Overview&col1=%22Supplier%22.%22Supplier%20Name%22&val1=1+AccessMicron
    Good luck!
    Best regards,

  • Dashboard Prompt - Getting error for Adding SQL query in "Default to"

    Hello Oracle,
I am facing some problem in Dashboard Prompt. Like when i add some sql query in "Default to" in Dashboard prompt and for the next prompt when i check for Contrain option i get error in the second prompt. but it works fine when i hard-code a value in "Default to" options.
    For Example:
Like when we consider a two prompts :
    1) Year -> (In Default to i select SQL Query and enter the query as SELECT "YTD Dim"."Fiscal Year" FROM "YTD Report" WHERE "YTD Dim"."Fiscal Year" = Year(Current_Date)
    2) Business Unit -> (In specific value i give as some hard code value of Business Unit and check the contrain option)
    i get error as
    Business Unit
    Error Generating Drop Down Values
A numeric value was expected (received "SELECT "YTD Dim"."Fiscal Year" FROM "YTD Report" WHERE "YTD Dim"."Fiscal Year" = Year(Current_Date)"). Error Details
    Error Codes: EHWH2A7E
but i get correct value for Year as 2011.
I need to use SQL query in default to option and need to check the constrain option too.
    Looking for positive feedback.

You need to create a dashboard prompt and in Default To -> select SQL Results
Click on the ... (three dots ) underneath it and put in your sql
For Example , I have a Table called "Sales Date" in my "ABC" presentation folder. This has a column called "Year" and "Date". If I want to have a Year prompt with the default value set to current year, here is what the syntax of my sql result will be :-
    SELECT "ABC"."Sales Date".YEAR
    FROM "ABC"
    WHERE "Date" = current_date
In SQL, we cannot put SQL as we know of in terms of Oracle, Sql Server etc. The SQL here refers to sql as OBIEE understands it and should be in the form of Select "Presentation foler"."Table Name".ColumnName from "Presentation Folder"
    Hope this helps

  • Calculations in Page /Dashboard Prompts  in OBIEE doesnt work for me .

    Hi ,
Iam trying to create a Custom Aging Report instead of using the OOB Aging report . In the report I created column ( only at this report level) "% of Outstanding Amount in AR Past Due 1- 30 Days" by changing the "Fx" and Now I can see the $$ amount that customer has due as well as how much % is that in the total Outstanding Amount. The report is coming good. Now I have a business requirement that the groupings such as 1-30 , 31-60 , 61-90 , and 90+ should be given in dashboard prompt . I could create 1-30 , 31-60 , 61-90 but 90+ ( 91-180, 181-360 , 360+) prompt is not working as I tried to concat these three groupings and iam getting the error message as " Un resolved column error , Concat Function does not support." and other thing when i tried to create a calcualted % prompt even that is giving me error message as " Unresolved colum. I think the Calculations doesnt work for Dashboard prompts ..but iam not sure ..May be Iam missing somethg , Can anybody pls help me in getting this fixed . How to create a calculation for page/Dashbaord Prompts ...I tried using the sql too but still it gives the error.
    Please help
    Thankyou
    Karthik

In your dashboard prompt properties you need to tick the 'Constrain' box for all the columns that you want be constrained by the other choices, e.g Year, Quarter, Month.
Only tick Product Name / Order Name if you want these to be constrained also but bear in mind it could cause a performance delay if you are having to join tables to get the constrain.
    Hope this helps,

  • Dashboard prompt for report which displays curent and previous FY

We have a dashboard with the prompt for the FY and one of the reports on the dashboard should show results for selected FY and previous FY. Report has filters Fiscal Year is greater than or equal to PREVIOUS_FSCL_YEAR AND Fiscal Year is less than or equal to CURRENT_FSCL_YEAR. However if filters are not protected report will display only results for FY selected in prompt but if they are protected it will then ignore prompt. Any idea how to resolve this issue? We need this solution if FY 2009 is selected in the prompt report will display results for FY2008 and FY2009 or if FY 2010 is selected report will display results for FY2009 and FY2010.
    Thanks

    Hi,
You can do this by creating a dynamic variable in the RPD for the current year as:
SELECT (TO_CHAR(sysdate,'YYYY')) from dual. This will produce Current Year value.
In the Answers for the report which refers to the Year Column. Make a filter from the Year Column. While making filter Click on 'Advanced' in the Filter--> Convert this filter to SQL. And inside it write this forumla: Column_name_will come=VALUEOF(Dynamic_Variable_Name)
    For Example-"Time Period Year"."Calendar Year" = VALUEOF("Current_Year_Var")
Make similar filter and write the SQL Filter as- "Time Period Year"."Calendar Year" = VALUEOF("Current_Year_Var")-1
(This will give you the last year value)
And important is make it as 'OR' condition between the two filters.
Hope this will resolve your problem. Let me know further

Any suggestions or ideasYou are correct. You cannot build two prompts on the same column. Use this link for instructions on how to build a "between prompt" because of this fact:

  • Analysis prompt vs. dashboard prompt for setting presentation variable

I have a requirement to include a prompt on the analysis (not dashboard) to select a year. This sets a variable when is then used in Report A. I then use the variable for a column filter, which passes 3 parameters to Report B.
If doing this using a dashboard prompt, everything works as expected. The variable and other row items are used in Report A and passed to the Report B via a Navigate to BI Content Action Link. When using the analysis prompt to set the presentation variable Report A works but then I get this error when navigating to Report B.
An invalid object was accessed during evaluation.
      Error Details
    Error Codes: QBB4RZQS:SDKE4UTF

I have a report in which I use Oracle analytic functions. But I have to show only subset of all records because of analytic functions. In case of ListBox I use a presentation variable in a FILTER(expr1 USING expr2). How may I do this in case of multiselect prompt? It doesn't support presentation values.

  • Dashboard Prompt - Integer field (material number) - remove commas

    Hi all,
We have a problem with one number field that added as a prompt in the dashboard. This is an integer field contains Material numbers shows commas and we need to remove commas. Problem is we cannot cast it because we need to keep it as ineteger field to sort the column. Please advise to correct this either repository area or in the dashboard prompt sql statment that applicable to an **integer** field to remove commas.
    Appreciate all your help!!
    Thanks,

Thank You Svee. I have already tried override and treat number as number but that still showed the commas.
What I was missing was clicking on save as the system-wide default. I never tried that before and this worked. I appreciate your help.

  • Possible to have dynamic default selections for a dashboard prompt?

I'm running OBIEE 11.1.1.6.5, and I have customer who would like to know if it is possible to dynamically select default values on a dashboard prompt based upon other user prompted columns on the same prompt. For example, I built a dashboard prompt with three fields: Month, Customer, and Product; and I want to add a default selection to my Products prompt to pick the "top 4 products" based on the selected Month and Customer.. assuming every Customer+Month has a different "top 4 products".
Does anyone please have a suggestion on how I could approach this solution?

Thank you for your response. I've tested this approach and it seems promising. My concern I have there is how to treat "(All Choices)" values. Say the user selects All Choices on customer or period, and the presentation value in my SQL Results query reverts to whatever default value specified, which is not the intended behavior. My question then becomes how do I treat the null or All Choices and somehow omit the filter criteria or specify fy All Choices as a default to the presentation variable? Your advice is much appreciated.

  • Seperate Subject area for Dashboard Prompts

    Hi,
Is there any way by which we can create seperate subject areas for OBIEE dashboard prompt only??
    Thanks

    Hi,
Yes we can create separate subject areas for dashboard prompt's alone. Here is a case
Say we need to create a constraint enabled prompt in our dashboard. So we bring in two dimension columns into the prompt.
When we run the prompt, the queries across these two dimensions go through a fact table (Because the only way two different dimensions can be joined is through a fact . This fact table is chosen by BI Server intelligently at run time and that can be set through Implicit Fact column also though). In this case there is a chance that some of the dimension rows might get skipped in the constrained prompt as all of the records might not be present in the fact table.
To mitigate this issue, we might want to create a separate subject area for dashboard prompts alone (using some fact less fact or by having a surrogate key in the 2nd dimension table etc).
    Hope I am clear :)
    Thank you,
    Dhar
