  • Setting the name of a new object from a string

    Is there anyway I can set the object name of a newly created
    object from a string?
    eg.
    (the code below generates a compile time error on the
    variable declaration)
    public function addText(newTxt:String, txt:String,
    format:TextFormat):void {
    var
    this[newTxt]:TextField = new TextField();
    this[newTxt].autoSize = TextFieldAutoSize.LEFT;
    this[newTxt].background = true;
    this[newTxt].border = true;
    this[newTxt].defaultTextFormat = format;
    this[newTxt].text = txt;
    addChild(this[newTxt]);
    called using>
    addText("mytxt", "test text", format);
    I could then reference the object later on without using
    array notation using mytxt.border = false; for example
    There are many a time when I want to set the name of a new
    object from a string.
    In this example I have a function that adds a new text object
    to a sprite.
    The problem is, if I call the function more than once then
    two textfield objects will exist, both with the same name. (either
    that or the old one will be overwritten).
    I need a way of setting the name of the textfield object from
    a string.
    using
    var this[newTxt]:TextField = new TextField()
    does not work, If I take the "var" keyword away it thinks it
    a property of the class not an object.
    resulting in >
    ReferenceError: Error #1056: Cannot create property newTxt on
    Box.
    There must be a way somehow to declare a variable that has
    the name that it will take represented in a string.
    Any help would be most welcome
    Thanks

    Using:
    var this[newTxt]:TextField = new TextField()
    is the right approach.
    You can either incrment an instance variable so that the name
    is unique:
    newTxt = "MyName" + _globalCounter;
    var this[newTxt]:TextField = new TextField();
    globalCounter ++;
    Or store the references in an array:
    _globalArray.push(new TextField());

  • Adding New Line character to String

    Hi,
    I want to add a new line while concatenating strings.
    I am getting some string objects and put them together. while concatenating them i want new string to be displayed in new line.
    The purpose of this is i am displaying this bunch of strings on a mouse over finction using javascript. Hence i want the different values to be displayed on a new line.
    Any help is appreciated.

    You normally use \r\n or System.getProperty("line.separator") to get a newline in Java.
    But since you're talking about Javascript, the whole question makes really no sense here at a Java forum. Don't you just mean a linebreak in HTML? If so, it is just
    . If not, please elaborate or look for a Javascript forum. There are ones at webdeveloper.com and dynamicdrive.com.

  • Replacing New Line character in a hexadecimal string in ECC5.0

    Hi,
    I am trying to create an XML document using ABAP.
    I have created one DOM and later used the DOM to get the XML content into an internal table in form of Hexadecimal String. In that internal table(which contains XML in form of hexadecimal content), I want to search for the new line character and replace it by Space.
    I have used class CL_XML_DOCUMENT to create such document.
    Now, the keyword 'SEARCH' which searches the New Line character, works on the hexadecimal content of the internal table in 46C and I get an XML document. I get the position of the New Line in SY-FDPOS and can do whatever I want. But SEARCH on hexadecimal content is not permitted in ECC 5.0. I get a syntax error when I try to do so. Tried many options but could not succed.
    Would apreciate if anyone can help in finding and replacing characters like new line, tab etc in a hexadecimal string.
    Thanks.
    Can anyone

    Hi!
    When you say hexadecimal string, you mean variable - otherwise string (= character) operations would work?
    Then you have to go for hex handling -> do it yourself. Make something like
    data: lf type x value '0A',
          sp type x value '20',
          i type i.
    I = 0.
    while sy-subrc = 0.
      if hex_string+i(1) = lf.
        hex_string+i(1) = sp.
      endif.
      add 1 to i.
    endwhile.

  • Tab And New Line in XML data

    I have a formatted text which I store as a text node. By default the new line char's are converted into white spaces. I read elsewhere on this forum, that we should use the charecter entity reference equivalent &#A; for new line. I did not understand this idea clearly, so I tried this out:
    In my formatted string, I replaced all instances of '\n' with '&#A;'. I create my text node as follows:
    script.replaceAll("\n","&#A;");
    scriptElement = document.createTextNode(script);
    As expected when the XML is written the &#A10; is further encoded into "&#A10". And when I read back my XML from the parser, I get my string back with all the "&#A10;". I again need to do a replace all to get the new line charecters back.
    My question is : Is there any other standard solution to this problem or the bottom line is to replace the new line and tabs with "MUMBOJUMBO" or a standard charecter entity ref and look for the same while reading back.
    Is there anyway I could tell my XMLwriter to convert '\n' into "&#A;" and get back '\n' when I parse the XML?

    by default, all white spaces collapse: http://www.w3.org/TR/xsl/slice7.html#white-space-collapse
    you can use xml:space="preserve" in your XML elements (tags) or
    you can use <fo:block white-space-collapse="false" linefeed-treatment="preserve"> in XSL if you use XSL to format the XML.

    either this way we can do this
    1)
    DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
    <b> factory.setIgnoringElementContentWhitespace(true); </b>
    DocumentBuilder db = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
    or
    2)
    java.io.StringWriter sw = new java.io.StringWriter();
    StreamResult sr = new StreamResult(sw);
    t.transform(new DOMSource(doc), sr);
    String xml1 = sw.toString().trim();
    <b> xml1=xml1.replaceAll("\\s",""); </b>
    System.out.println(xml1.trim());

  • How to write this logic  in EL expression ? (new line characters in string

    iam using JSTL EL expression in my JSP.
    iam printing a string in JSP as ${vobject.rmessage} where rmessage is a string .
    problem is i want to identify the newline characters in the above rmessage string and print the line break <br> in html where ever the new lines character is present in the string.
    How should i write an EL expression for the above.
    Can anyone please guide me on writing EL expression for the above problem?

    Several ways. You can wrap the output with <pre> tags. You can apply CSS property white-space: pre; to the element. You can use String#replaceAll() in the Java code to replace each occurence of "\r\n" by "<br>".

  • JTextArea How do I add text on a new line from Text field

    I want to put each new input from the text field at the start of a new line and keep the previous entries at the start of their
    own line.
    I'm doing this but need help with the new line.
    jTextArea1.setLineWrap(true);
    jTextArea1.setWrapStyleWord(true);
    jTextArea1.setEditable(false);
    public void textProcess()
    System.out.println(sourceref1.getSourceText());
    jTextArea1.setText(jTextArea1.getText()+" "+source.getSourceText());
    The above just keeps adding on the new text until I reach the word wrap limit.
    Thanks

    Maybe you should use the escape character. Anyway, you can consider use append(text:String) instead of getText() everytime.
    Eg:
    jTextArea1.append("\n"+source.getSourceText());

  • Finding New Line characters in string

    Hello.
    I have a textstring in which there are New Line characters. These cause problems when inserting the data.
    An example is as follows (assume a table test exists with one column col1 VARCHAR2(2000):
    CREATE TABLE test (col1 VARCHAR2(2000));
    INSERT INTO test (col1) VALUES ('first line
    second line');
    INSERT INTO test (col1) VALUES ('first line' ||
    chr(10) ||
    'second line');
    The first INSERT will fail but the second will succeed.
    I want to find and replace these characters programatically in PL/SQL.
    How can I edit a textstring in PL/SQL and replace the new line characters with ||
    chr10) ||?
    /Lars

    How about this:
    declare
    v_oldstring VARCHAR2(50) := 'Line1'||chr(10)||'Line2'||chr(10)||'Line3';
    v_tmpstring VARCHAR2(50);
    v_newstring VARCHAR2(50);
    begin
      dbms_output.put_line(v_oldstring);
      select replace(v_oldstring, chr(10), '''||chr(10)||''')
      into v_tmpstring
      from dual;
      v_newstring := ''''|| v_tmpstring || '''';
      dbms_output.put_line(v_newstring);
    end;

  • Replace new line with dot

    Hi,
    One of the fields is the flex field. In the xml it is like below -
    <SORT_FIELD1_INV>110
    000
    000
    110000
    0000
    0000</SORT_FIELD1_INV>
    I want to replace this new line in between with '.' and the output in excel should be
    000.000.110000.0000.0000
    I tried using the <?xdofx:replace...
    but could not get the result.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Solution is:
    <?xdofx:replace(../../../../../../SORT_FIELD1_INV,chr(10),' ')?>
    Note this only works for I think 10.1.3.3.1 or higher.
    On 10.1.3.2.0 Build 87 you'll get:
    Caused by: oracle.xdo.parser.v2.XPathException: Extension function error: Method not found 'chr'
    Note I also tried the following which should work, but didn't do any translate!!
    <xsl:value-of select='translate(../../../../../../SORT_FIELD1_INV,"&#x20;&#x9;&#x10;&#x13;&#xD;&#xA;"," ")'/>

  • Delete new line from model in NWDS 7.1 for laptops

    Hello,
    I have a problem regarding deletion of newly created lines.
    We have an Web Dynpro application developed in NWDS 7.1. We allow the users to create Notifications with our application. We want to give the users an option to delete notifications that they created in case they weren't sent to the backend yet.
    For that purpose I used model.removeFrom...() method. I checked the MaxDB notifications table and saw that the notification was indeed deleted from the table. However it is still sent to the backend - twice - once for creation and the other for deletion.
    Can I make it so in case it's a completely new line, it won't be sent to the backend at all (for create or delete)?
    (We don't let users to delete notifications that exist in the backend)
    Thanks in advance,
    Tal.

    Hello,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I have to use model.removeFrom...() method because if I only delete it from the context, it is not deleted from the model.
    After creating a new notification and adding it to the model I use model.commit();. (I have to commit because at that point the user might exit the application and I want the changes to be saved).
    After deleting the new notification I also use model.commit();.
    The result of these actions is that during sync, instead of not creating the notification in the backend at all, it creates and deletes it.
