Read at each new line from .txt file
Hi guys
I want to read from a file which I am saving using labview. What I am doing is reading 128 bytes fro VISA port and saving it in .txt file with new line constant. At some later time I want to read 128 bytes from that text file do some processing and display it. The "read from text file" vi has convert EOL but I am not able to configure it. Please help me..
Thanks in advance

Hi Newbee_3,
Do 1 thing, Read the txt file & convert this into string, Then you have all the flexibility to do whatever you want.
Thanks
Kudos are always welcome if you got solution to some extent.

New Lines within .txt files
Hello,
I'm creating and writing text from a standalone application to a text file, however when using the "\n" command within a string in java, it is outputted as a box, not an actual new line within the text file.
Is there any way of solving this problem?
ThanksUse a BufferedWriter and the newLine() method. It will use the appropriate newline String for the platform you are running on. In Windows this is "\r\n".

Is it possible to search for a string in a text file then
delete the line where the string is found.
For ex. if I have a list of names in a text file, I would
like to be able to search for a name, based on user's input, then
if the name is found, delete the line where the name was listed at.
ThanksIs each name on a separate line? If so, each line is
terminated with a <BR>, </P>, etc. (unless it is in its
own table cell).
Then one way to handle it would be to convert the line
terminator to a pipe ( | ) character, giving you a pipe delimited
list. The ListFind( ) function could be used to find the list
element that has the name in it and the ListDeleteAt( ) function
deletes the name.
Sample code below. There are other ways to handle it if the
lines are in their own individual table cell. -
How to read data from txt file respectively
Hi,
I am triying to form an equation between two known points. I want to do this with the attached VI, the most critical point is that I will read the x1, y1, x2 and y2 coordinates from the same .txt file. They will be written in a .txt file and I will send them to the appropriate channel (x1, y1, x2 and y2) respectively. How can I get data in a rule from a .txt file?
Could anyone please help me with this issue,
Best regards.

read from txt file.vi 8 KBDear RavensFan,
Thank you very much for your helps, I am bit new to labview so I usually can not find the appropriate functions easily. And a new problem has rised in my application. I should write the A, B and C numbers in the respective series to the file 2.txt. I am able to write them in a straight forward case but I want to write the next triples (A B C) in the next row. Like this;
A1 B1 C1
A2 B2 C2
A3 B3 C3
So how can I put new line constant and space constant to my VI?
Waiting for your valuable helps,
Best regards,

How to get string (specified by line and column) from txt file with labview
Hi everyone
How to get string (specified by line and column) from txt file with labview
thx
Solved!
Go to Solution.As far as I know, a text file has no columns. Please be more specific. Do you mean something like the 5th word on line 4, where words are separated by a space, and lines are separated by a newline character? You could the Read from Spreadsheet String function and set the delimiter to a space. This will produce a 2D array of strings. Then use index array and give the line number and column number.

JTextArea How do I add text on a new line from Text field
I want to put each new input from the text field at the start of a new line and keep the previous entries at the start of their
own line.
I'm doing this but need help with the new line.
jTextArea1.setLineWrap(true);
jTextArea1.setWrapStyleWord(true);
jTextArea1.setEditable(false);
public void textProcess()
System.out.println(sourceref1.getSourceText());
jTextArea1.setText(jTextArea1.getText()+" "+source.getSourceText());
The above just keeps adding on the new text until I reach the word wrap limit.
ThanksMaybe you should use the escape character. Anyway, you can consider use append(text:String) instead of getText() everytime.
Eg:
jTextArea1.append("\n"+source.getSourceText()); -
