Replacing Antenna

For the past few months Ive been getting terrbile reception and usually my phone goes into SOS mode. Ive dropped it a few times and Im fairly certain this is the cause. Im wondering where the antenna is located and what exactly I need to replace it. There are a few different items Ive seen on ebay that are replacement parts but there are a few different ones that say they are antennas. Some help would be greatly appreciated.

Before you do that, get a free SIM card swap from Telus. There are so many different iterations of SIM cards, and technology updates quick enough that this is important.

  • Replacing Antenna on WRK54G

I am trying to increase the wireless signal, does anyone know if/how to get the antenna off so that I can replace/connect it to an Omni directional antenna?

if the antennas are removable , then you have to unscrew them...that is the only way you get the antenna off...

  • Ipad 2 replacement antenna

Need to replace the wifi antenna in my iPad2. The replacements I have tried so far don't pick up a signal beyond 15 feet of the wifi base.  Can someone recommend a good antenna and where I can get it?  I have no need to send the iPad in to the Apple store since I know how to replace the antenna.  I just need a reliable part.  Thanks in advance.

ifixit.com would be the place I would trust (beside Apple themselves) to get replacement parts. Here's the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi antenna for the iPad 2:

  • Replacing airport antenna on eMac

My daughter was having trouble getting a good wireless connection with her eMac. We took the airport extreme card out and notice that the small copper wires coming out of the connection end of the antenna were frayed. We tried to straighten them but they broke off. No she can get no wireless connection unless the base station is sitting next to her computer. Can I get a replacement antenna and is something I can replace myself?

If the connector end of the antenna has broken off, that's a difficult repair at best. The connection you can get as is if what the Airport card itself can pick up, minus its antenna. The Airpirt antenna is a wire look running aling the edge of the front of the chassis; replacement would require disassembling the eMac pretty throughly. That's not even mentioned in the eMac service manuals that I can remember. Opening up the eMac to the level required to get at the antenna cable would also expose you to the dangerous voltages held by the CRT/analog assembly (especially the CRT yoke). Unless you are really, really confident with using a discharge tool and with taking computers apart (easy) and getting them back together (no so easy), you may want to search "bridge connector" instead. That would cost you less than a proper Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP). I doubt you'd want to jury-rig your own external wireloop using the broken-off connector and a Dremel tool to cut a hole near the optical tray drawer to pass the replacement wire outside the eMac's Airport slot.

  • RV220W antenna replacements

The Wifi coverage of our RV220W is OK but some mobile devices appear to suffer from poor battery performance because they struggle to maintain signal strength in some parts of the premises.
We have two "Draytek ANT-1107 7dBi Omni-Directional Indoor Desktop Antenna" from a redundant Draytek router with similar connectors to those found on the RV220W's standard external antennas.
Would it be OK to use them? (could they cause any damage or warranty issues)
Should we achieve slightly better coverage using these antennas?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

We don't have any replacement antennas sold to extend the range of signal from the RV220w, and 3rd party antenna shouldn't void your warranty as long they actually fit onto the router correctly and not rigged to fit. Depending on type of antenna you should be able to extend your range with a high gain antenna's.
    Thanks,
    Jasbryan

  • Need to replace broken wireless router

My wireless router antenna has been broken off. How can I obtain a replacement.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You can either do the click to chat at the bottom of the page where it says contact us. Or you can call 800 VERIZON. I like the contact us chat.
They are going to send you a whole router, they don't send single antenna's, so if you don't want to go through all that, you can buy replacement antenna's at radioshack or online at ebay or amazon.
I've bought replacement antenna's for about 5-10 bux before

  • Antenna for E2100L Router

Hi good Afternoon! I'm brazilian, then I'm sorry about my english.
I Wish to know what is the recommended antenna to replace my original E2100L? I need to increase (just a little) the wireless signal from the router. According to the specs, the device antenna is ± 1.8 dBi.
I wish to increase up to 7 dBi (the far access point is instable, something bettween 80%-40%). The antenna conector is SMA, then an antenna like HGA7T (TNC connector) will not solve my problem.
    I already tried 2 different pairs of antennas: P-Link TL-ANT2405C ( http://www.tp-link.com/us/products/productDetails.asp?class=&pmodel=TL-ANT2405C ) e Rosewill RNX-A8 ( http://www.rosewill.com/products/1027/productDetail.htm ) and both cases, the signal was decreased.
The HGA7S it was suggested on chat support, but I dont find it to sell (Newegg, amazon and even at cisco store). There is another replacement antenna?
Thank you for your help and patience!

I dont have know how to do this. I bought the router, set it up to my ISP and upgraded the firmware.
I have 2 points to improve the signal:
    1) Cousin's Notebook ± 49 ft (5 brick walls);
    2) Daddy's PC ± 22 ft (1 brick wall in 2nd floor).
    Router settings
    ISP settings:
    PPPoE (dinamic IP)
    Wireless settings
    Network mode: mixed
    SSID enable
WPA2 Personal (key 12 chars, letters and numbers)
And default for the other values.
    Thank you for  your help!

  • Need to remove 32SL410U Toshiba Television Receiver case

I need to replace antenna/cable plug on 32SL410U Toshiba, but first step is to remove the case. I have removed each of the screws marked on the back and have also removed the base and screws hidden under the base.
The cover is still attached somewhere that I cannot locate. Is there a special tool needed to get the cover off? What are the pair of unmarked fittings that are also through the cover - they do not appear to be hex keyed or torx.
Any tips or tricks to get this open without breaking something?
I have scoured the web for this info with no success.

  • Wi-fi difficulty

When I first started using my Ipod Touch I had no difficulties connecting to my local Wi-fi connection. It then asked me to create my Apple ID, but I kept getting a server error, so I put it off for a bit. Since then, I have not been able to reconnect to my local Wi-fi connection (which I've tried powering on/off, and even resetting it). I see my connection's name showing up on the choose your connection screen, but there is always one of those loading pinwheels on the screen (which doesn't apply for any of the other Wi-fi connections in my apartment complex), and for whatever the reason, it won't let me select it.

    Problem Solved.  Read this Saga:
I took it to a repair shop: They said they could not repair it.
Took it to a second repair shop. They said the case was cracked - and a cracked case could interfere with reception. They also said they had replaced the WiFi Antenna. They gave me a new case - for which I paid.  NO DIFFERENCE TO RECEPTION.
I suspected they had not gone near the WiFi antenna. So I looked up the internet and located a replacement antenna for next to nothing. I got a spludger, a #Philips o/o screwdriver,  and a suction cup for even less. I found instructions on how to replace the WiFi antenna on YouTube. The link is:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZF9noPiiw4
I then followed the instructions and replaced the wifi antenna. Lo and behold when I put the phone back together I immediately began to receive WiFi signal perfectly.  It cost me about 8 Euro all told.

  • Sudden Airport Signal Weakness

It happened about 2 weeks ago where both at home and work (same type of airport) my computer's ability to pick up a signal has diminished a lot. Right now I am 7 feet away from my airport and the signal in the status bar bounces between 3 and 1 bar. If I move a couple feet to the left or right, it could disappear altogether. It happens at work as well so I think it might be a problem with my computer. I have a Macbook 13 in. that I bought in September of 2006 running OS 10.4.11. I've tried resetting the actual airport, turning the airport off and on in the status bar and nothing helps. Is signal strength related to battery health? Thank you for any help.

Thanks! I just posted before you did, so it is possible to access the antenna on here?
Apple frowns upon posting links to service manuals in the Discussions (you learn this by experience of having your post removed, not because it is stated clearly in the Terms of Usage), so no can do. On the other hand you can always try your luck (wink, wink) with a general web search for macbook service manuals, or just seeing how your computer comes apart. Mind you, notebooks are nowhere near as easy as desktops, and I wouldn't touch anything still under warranty (you don't specify exactly which MB you have).
I did a little online research and it appears the airport card does have two or three (depending upon model) antenna wires, which I could see as potentially coming loose. The antenna itself I believe runs the width of the laptop under the monitor (this is with reference to a replacement antenna I found for sale).
Well, just like a radio, if the battery gets too weak then the playback is bad, but I have extremely minimal laptop experience (other than removing the hard drive from a Winbook XP) so I can't tell you if 24% performance represents that. What happens if you use it while plugged into the mains?

  • Generic airport card

So my son was having connection problems with his MacBook. I figured if the airport card was busted he wouldn't get any connection at all, but he was able to connect, just not well at all. So I replaced the antenna, but that didn't help. On a whim I replaced the airport card, and lo and behold, that did the trick.
However, I replaced it with a non-Apple airport card (just did a search for AR5BXB6) and got one delivered for under ten bucks shipped. So for less than the replacement antenna (and a crapload less work) I fixed it.
Of course, YMMV using a non-branded card, but mine worked fine. Hope this helps someone.

  • MI424WR-Gig version and Amped Wireless SB1000 Signal Booster

Has anyone used the Amped Wireless SB1000 signal booster with the FIOS MI424WR?
If so, what are your thoughts/recommendatoins?  Which antenna does it replace or are two needed?
I did request information from Actiontec, but don't think they understood the question (see below)
    Resolution:
    =========================
In regards to inquiries regarding replacement antennas you will need to contact
    Verizon at 1-888-553-1555
The MI424 isn't compatible with range extenders or repeaters or boosters as they
require a protocol called WDS (Wireless Distribution Services).
The MI424 doesn't have this wireless protocol.
To extend or improve the range you would use a wireless Access Point. An AP is a
bridge, you disable the MI424 wireless transmitter and use the AP instead.
The AP unit connects to the router by ethernet, you can then run the ethernet up
to 300 feet from the router to locate the AP where your wireless systems are.
You connect a computer to the AP and configure it to transmit the wireless.
we ourselves do not make antennas so we are unaware of what is available for
booster antennas. The connector on the Router is a Reverse SMA. In regards to
inquiries regarding replacement antennas you will need to contact Verizon at
