Report Builder report?
A dataset is about a join query for multiple tables. For each record in the dataset we need to show related records from another query. trans# is the link to get linked records. The sub-report used will show all linked records in one table while
we need it to show separately for each one record as follows:
Is it
SQL 2008 R2 Report builder

A123 dd/mm/yyyy loc1

record2 Trans# date location customer

Hi Kareem,
According to your description, you want to show the linked based on the "Trans#" in subreport. Right?
In this scenario, we can pass the "Tran#" as parameter to run the subreport. So when we drill down the report, it will show related records for each "Tran#". For detail steps, please refer to a similar thread below:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/45c500d9-6de1-473e-b118-d023fc5ba988/ssrs-subreport-parameter-passing-issue?forum=sqlreportingservice
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

How to merge 2 or more Report Builder reports and output as one pdf
I'm in a J2E shop in which I develop Oracle reports that are called and published by the application as jsp's. I need display output multiple reports sequentially and then print them out (as one pdf). All component reports currently exist as their own jsp file so the desire is to string together these JSP's without recreating them in a single jsp thereby doubling maintenance.
Does report builder have an option to do this or is there code that can be added at the end of a Report Builder jsp file that will call the next jsp sequentially.Hello,
I do not believe that Report Builder has a way to merge multiple PDF's into a single output file. I found a FREE product that will merge multiple PDF's into a single file that you could use as long as merging the outputs one after another is acceptable.
Go to http://www.somepdf.com and look at their product.
Good luck,

Problem testing report builder report
When I test my report it while in report builder, it looks great on the screen. When I try to actually print a page so I can see how it looks on paper using the forms, all I get is the background/ CF Developer message. What am I missing here? I should be able to test print the report. I don't mind the background but I need to see the data.

We are upgrading from SQL 2005 to SQL 2012 directly (no SQL 2008 to be installed). We have many SSRS Reports written in Report Builder 1.0 against Report Models generated from an OLAP datasource. In SQL 2012, Report Models can no longer
be created or edited. I have found many posts on this topic, including this:
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/896522da-45c3-46c0-848a-16f8f02ab051/how-to-upgrade-report-models-from-report-builder-1020-to-30. which the 'answered' response states:
SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services does not include tools for creating or updating report models. Although you can continue
to use existing report models as data sources in SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services reports you should consider updating your reports to remove their dependency on report models.
But I cannot locate any instructions/documentation, etc. on how to go about "updating your reports to remove
their dependency on report models.". How do I take existing Report Builder 1.0 reports that point to Report Models and upgrade them to the new SQL 2012 without Report Models? Is there a way to convert them? Or, do they need to be rewritten
from scratch? If there is a link to these instructions, please post as I cannot locate it any where. Thank you.Katherine thank you for helping with this. Here is what I have tried:
On the Report Manager (2012) site, I created a new OLAP data source. And when I test the connection, I get the pop up "Connection created successfully."
I then pointed my Report Builder (v1.0) report to this new Data Source (from Report Manager site, selected 'Manage' for the report, from Data Sources, selected Browse and drilled down to the new Data Source I created and selected Apply).
Now when I try to View the report, I receive the following error:
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Query execution failed for dataset 'paramDataSet'. (rsErrorExecutingCommand) The SemanticQuery element at line 7, column 279 (namespace http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2004/10/semanticmodeling)
cannot appear under Envelope/Body/Execute/Command.
I then exited IE and reopened the Report Manager site. I opened Report Builder 3.0,, selected Open and opened this same report. Idrilled donw to Data Sources and right clicked on dataSource1 (the only one listed) and selected Data
Source Properties. I kept the same name, but selected the new shared datasource I created (New DataSource), and selected OK.
Next, I drilled down to Datasets. There are two listed, dataSet and paramDataSet (yes, this report has parameters). I right clicked on the dataSet and selected dataSet properties, and see that it points to dataSource1 (which is the dataSource
I just pointed to my New DataSource). I cancelled and checked the Data Source for paramDataSet, and it also points to dataSource1. Selected cancel and went back to the main dataSet.
So both datasets point to the new DataSource I created.
If I select Run, I get the following error:
I select OK and right click on dataSet and select Refresh Fields and get this error:
Can you (anyone) please explain what I am doing incorrectly? Thank you. -
The closest fix I have found was to install SQL Server 2012 SP1 CU8, our SQL Server in for SharePoint is also on that version. I have also double checked that this is the same version on every server in the farm.
Is there a XML config file somewhere that can be updated manually? If so, would SP see the change and update the other servers in the farm?
Thanks,
PhilHi Phil,
As per my understanding, we can refer to the following tips:
Running the 32 bit version of Internet Explorer browser to check the issue again.
Performed steps outlined in this KB Article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833714.
Enable Add-ons in Internet Explorer:
1. Go to Tools in IE
2. Click on Internet Options
3. Click on Programs at the top
4. Click on “Manage add-ons” near the bottom
5. Click on Publisher, so you can see all of Microsoft Corporation together
6. Scroll to SharePoint names (May be one or several)
7. Make sure they are all enabled by clicking on the name; the Enable button is towards the bottom.
8. Then click OK and OK and restart IE
Try to
re-install the correct version of Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint on all SharePoint web front ends.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,

Concatenate results SQL query and CASE use Report Builder Reporting Services
I need to concatenate the results from a SQL query that is using CASE. The query is listed below. I do not need permitsubtype but I need to concatenate the results from the permittype.

where ISSUED between @FromDate and @ToDateHi KittyCat101,
As per my understanding, you used case when statement in the query, you do not need to display permitsubtype in the report, but when you tried to delete permitsubtype from the query, it could not run correctly. In order to improve the efficiency of troubleshooting,
I need to ask several questions:
“I tried deleting the permitsubtype query and it would not run correctly.” As we can see, it has no effect to delete permitsubtype from the query you provided, could you please provide complete sql query for the report?
Could you please provide detailed information about the report? I would be appreciated it if you could provide sample data and screenshot of the report.
Please provide some more detailed information of your requirements.
This may be a lot of information to ask for at one time. However, by collecting this information now, it will help us move more quickly toward a solution.
Thanks,

Claims authentication types supported by SharePoint 2010 are Windows Claims, forms-based authentication Claims, and SAML Claims. In SAML-Claims mode, SharePoint Server accepts SAML tokens from a trusted external Security Token Provider (TST). From the
blog you referenced, it seems to use the SAML Claims authentication.
However, the Reporting Services client applications: Report Builder, the Report Designer in Business Intelligence Development Studio, and Management Studio do not support connecting and authenticating with LiveID or SAML Claims based SharePoint Web applications.
That's because the SAML Claims don't use the Reporting Services authentication endpoint. So, you have to change the Claims authentication type to use Report Builder on the SharePoint site.

Reports Builder has encountered a problem and needs to close.
Hi All,
The report builder in my system is behaving weirdly. If I open a report, which is having a normal browser output, it allowing me to see the data model, layout model and everything. And if I open a report, which is having a PDF output, it's not allowing me to open the Layout.
Here the output is in context of Oracle Applications front-end. And as I know it shouldn't be a problem with Report Builder.
It errors out with the following message.
Reports Builder has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
And the error report contains the following message.

I have tried reinstalling the software a minimum of 10 times, but no luck. At last I got my system formatted and tried. For the first time it worked for me, then I installed Forms Builder... then again I am getting the same problem even though I have different homes for Reports and Forms.
Is it problem with my system or the Operating System or the version of the Oracle Developer?
Can anyone please help me out?
Thanks in advance,

Hyperlinks in RTF and Excel reports using CF Report Builder
Has anyone gotten external links to work in RTF and Excel CF
Report Builder reports? The PDF report type works as advertised in
the help, but these other two have me stumped.Could you please tell us whether you fllowed any special procedures
or made some specific settings to launch RTF reports ?Can't help much, I'm afraid. The report and web server settings were
all made before I got here, and are not visible to me.
We can get RTF from report builder/generate-to-file and when running
reports on the web. Our servers are all Sun/Solaris boxes, although
we display on DOS boxes. Excel we get from a program, not from the
report server.
Report builder 6.0.8.10.1, database claims to be 8.1.7.0.0.
Sorry I can't help much more than saying "yes, it can be done".

Drill-down lost in Report Builder
Ever since the CFMX7.02 upgrade, we have lost the ability to
drill-down on the Report Builder reports which previously had
drill-down capability. I am referring to summary lines which
contained a link to the detail. Has anyone experienced this and is
there a fix for it?Do you choose PDF instead of flash paper as the output
format? By some reason, the drill-down function does not work in
flash paper format.

Testing Reports within Reports Builder
I am using Oracle Reports Builder 9i 9.0.2.0.3.
I have created a simple report using a JDBC query and J_JDBCPDS.
I have saved the file as a RDF and a JSP.
I want to test this from within Reports Builder.
I created a simple selection.HTM file that has an HREF to my files
I try
HREF="http://myserver:8888/reports/test/myreport.jsp?J_JDBCPDS='myserver:1433;DatabaseName=mydatabase">My Report</a></p>
and
HREF="http://myserver:8888/reports/test/myreport.rdf?J_JDBCPDS='myserver:1433;DatabaseName=mydatabase">My Report</a></p>
So ...
I start OC4J.
browse to
http://myserver:8888/reports/test/select.htm
click on my links
but both times I get PAGE NOT FOUND.
How can I test the Reports Builder reports with just having Reports Builder?
Thanks,
Jeanne VuralJeanne
The href url is wrong in your selection.html page. Firstly for paper layout report, you should go through Reports servlet, that mean your url would be something like:
http://webserver:port//servlet/rwservlet?server=servername+report=reportname.....
For web layout reports also, your url will need the server info and i do not see any server param passed in the url.
Thanks
