Report layout to pdf

in pdf i am getting only the no of records processed but not the output, why ?
if any one has sample code send me.

Hi,
Be clear with query!
Are you printing the output or sending mail to somebody.
You can convert the spool to PDF using the program RSTXPDFT5  or
using the fun module CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF.
then you can mail it to others using the fun module
SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1.
reward if useful

  • How to link PDF document in Report Layout??

    I need to display the contents of PDF document after the form letter report. I tried OLE object but at the runtime it does not display the content. Does any one knows how to attach PDF document in reports layout?
    Thanks
    Ravindra

    you will have to concatinate your report output with the static PDF document. in reprots 10g you can create a cusotm destination that could implement this functionality.
    out of the box, reports does not provide the ability to add static content in PDF to reports' generated PDF output.

  • Converting simple report output to PDF print layout issue

    Hi all,
    I am converted one report output to PDF format, it is working fine in one DEV sever, but when we moved it to other server the layout of output preview & font size  is not coming properly (as same in DEV server)  in the new server. Dear Alexander,
    Thanks for the reply.
    In this I am using the FM 'CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF'. I have checked the settings from SPAD that is also same in both servers for particular output device. But the patches are diffrennt in both the servers, the server from which layout is not coming properly having the high level patches in compare to the other server(which is working fine).

  • PDF Printing Issue - Customised Report Layout Error

    Hi,
    I am trying to get a PDF file output based on the customised RTF file created. I follow the following steps but I am facing an issue with that.
    (i) Go to Shared Components > Report Queries.
    (ii) Create a new Report query with more than one query.
    (iii) Using the XML Data in the Report queries, create a Report Layout (RTF) file.
    (iv) Navigate to shared components Report Layout and upload the RTF file.
    (v) Once this is done, use the Report Layout created in the Report Queries. Select the Layout name from the Drop Down.
    (vi) Click on TEST REPORT, this produces an error: Adobe Reader could not open the <file name> because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded )
    Additional Info
    The apex instance configured with Embbedded plsql, rdbms version is 11.1.0.7.0 and the BI publisher version 10.1.3.3.
    ISSUE DESC
    When I use mulitple Queries even after using Generic Report Layout I get the output for the first query alone in the PDF and the remaining Queries are ignored.
    And when i use a user defined template, then even If i have a single report query I get the error.
    To summarise, I am not able to use the customised Layouts.
    I have reproduced the issue in apex.oracle.com
    Please log in using,
    WORKSPACE: demo_test
    USER NAME: [email protected]
    pwd: vidhya
    After logging in please select the Application Builder.
    In that select the Application named PDF.
    Select the Shared components > Report Queries
    Select the Report Query named test.
    Click on the TEST REPORT button in the Source Queries Section.
    You will get the error.
    Now in the same page in the Report Query Attributes Section change the Report Layout to Use Generic Report Layout and then click on 'TEST REPORT', this will give the PDF file without errors.
    The same report has been called from the PRINT REPORT button provided in the page 1 of the application.
    This issue is really urgent and critical. Require your inputs/help.
    Thanks,
    Ramya

    I' an APEX newbie and believe I am having the same or a similar problem. I am (for now) developing a system using the hosted Apex development system online. I have created a Report Query which works fine with the default layout. I downloaded the XML (tried both sample data and schema) into Word 2007 with the BI Publisher Template Builder. I used the table wizard to create a simple layout containing all columns with no customization at all. Saved as an RTF, uploaded to Apex as a Report Layout, associated it with the Report Query, clicked Test Report -- and I got nothing.
    When the is a PDF, I get the same error you mention ( Adobe Reader could not open the <file name> because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded ). If I switch to an HTML file the out is just a blank screen.
    If I switch back to generic report layout, it works fine. This suggests there is something wrong with the template, though it looks fine in Word with the sample data.
    I've searched the forums and Google for the better part of a day. What am I missing?

  • Enabling end users to create and upload their own layouts for PDF reports

    Using the PDF printing features in APEX 3.x and BI Publisher, you can create professional looking report designs with no programming knowledge, simply by using the built-in wizards of the BI Publisher Word Plug-In, and a little knowledge of how to use MS Word. The nice thing about using the Word Plug-In is that even the end users of your APEX applications could potentially do this. The only problem is, that typically those report layouts are stored under the Shared Components of your application, and end users generally don't have access to the Application Builder, all they typically use is your APEX application. So then why not simply add an interface to your APEX application that lets your end users upload their own layouts and dynamically link them to APEX report queries at runtime? I put together a sample application that demonstrates this technique, you can try it out on apex.oracle.com or download the application and try it on your own APEX instance. • Report Query using a Named Column Report Layout fails to produce PDF

    Sam

    Sam,
    I would suggest to take APEX out of the picture first and see if you can get this to work directly with your FOP solution, i.e. generate the XML data and take your XSL file and then post it directly to the FOP JSP (or whichever rendering engine you use). If this works, the problem might be somewhere in your APEX configuration. If it doesn't work, then the problem is likely in your XSL or XML structure. Here's how you can setup a static HTML page to post your XML and XSL to FOP:

  • Reading an item in pdf report layout

    Hi,
    we are using Oracle Application Express Version 4.0.2.00.07 with OC4J and Apache FOP as print server.
    we would like to be able to read a page item into the xsl-fo report layout created in the Shared Components. for instance, we would like to read the PXX_DATE item into the header section of the layout file to show the date in every page of our reports.
    we have tried the &PXX_DATE. format, but it produces as error generating the pdf file.
    any hint?
    Thank you very much

  • Pdf printing Report Layout

    I'm trying to modify the default Report Layout and I'm almost there, except for how the Apex engine loops through the sub-templates is messing me up. I want my report to look like:
    COL HEADER1
    COL DATA1
    COL HEADER 2
    COL DATA2
    COL HEADER3
    COL DATA3
    etc.
    I can do this in the HTML report layout no problem, but the pdf output looks like:
    COL HEADER1
    COL HEADER2
    COL HEADER3
    COL DATA1
    COL DATA2
    COL DATA3
    etc.
    When I try to merge the Report Column Heading and Column Template code together in the Column Template field and just use #PRN_TEMPLATE_BODY_ROW# in the Report Layout, I get:
    '#COLUMN_HEADER#'
    COL DATA1
    '#COLUMN_HEADER#'
    COL DATA2
    '#COLUMN_HEADER#'
    COL DATA3
    So basically, the #COLUMN_HEADER# substitution string doesn't get substituted with the actual column header name if it's used in the Column Template section. I think it should, since then my problem would be solved. Any insights? Thanks.

    Kathryn,
    The #COLUMN_HEADER# substitution string does not get substituted when used in the column template section. I agree it would be helpful if it were though, unfortunately that's not the case yet. I'll add that for the next release,

  • Custom Report Layout in APEX 3.0 PDF

    How much freedom do we have when developing a custom report layout using BI Publisher when we create the template file using the Word XML add-on?
    Why I am asking is, I am trying to replicate several Crystal based reports that use multiple lines of for data. They group on several columns and display the grouped data on separate lines in the report.
    Grouping 1 Line one has customer detail information
    Next grouping 1 or more lines are provider of service line information
    Last Line count of detail lines for customer
    Or would I be better off porting these reports to Oracle Reports?

  • Oracle bi publisher report for apex - Report Layout

    Hi There,
    Navigation: Home>Application Builder>Application 20>Shared Components>Report Layouts
    I created rtf template for a Report Query. It worked fine upto certain point.
    However at some point, if I make a minor modification to the layout it is not displaying all the data that it is supposed to.
    I have 3 tables in my RTF template 1) Header 2) Details 3) Summary. Details section has a group. This runs fine.
    Now if I just combine all the above 3 tables into one by adding row above and row below to the "2) details" table and moving the table 1 and table 3 into those rows, makes the data in the group in table 2 disappear when run on the apex application.
    However it works fine when data is loaded on the RTF template and Preview --> PDF is seen.
    Is it a known bug? Because some of my coleagues has same issues.
    Thanks

    Moreover the preview on the RTF template works fine with the same data.Preview from where?

  • Custom Report Layout with mutliple child tables

    I am trying to create a custom report layout (using Bi Publisher) where I have parent data (multiple jobs on a page) and several child tables for each job (JobDays and JobStops) and several child tables for JobDays (JobDayProviders, JobDayCrew). On the apex screen, I have a join on Jobs and JobDays and I am using functions to string each child row value for JobDayProviders and JobDayCrew together and putting a <br> in between so that they will format on separate lines within a cell. It works fine on the screen but when trying to print to pdf, it ignores these line breaks. I have also tried using <br></br> (saw an article that said just use HTML in bi pulisher) which puts two lines in between each value on the screen and is still ignored on the pdf.
    for example:
    Table hierarchy:
    Jobs table
    Job Stops
    Job Days
    Job Day Service Providers
    Job Day Crew
    Report Layout per job (will have mutlipe jobs to print, just printing 1 day per job):
    Jobs.col1 JobStops.row1 JobDay.col1 JobDayProviders.row1 JobDayCrew.r1
    JobStops.row2 JobDayProviders.row2 JobDayCrew.r2
    JobDayProviders.row3
    Thanks,
    Linda
    First, is there a way to get bi publisher to recognize the line breaks? If not, what is the best way to create a custom report for this scenario? I tried to create a report query with mutliple queries, but cannot determine how to link the child queries to the paren query. I have seen an example where a button is pressed to print one parent row and the id of that row is saved and referenced as a parameter in each of the queries, but if printing mutliple parents on a report, how would I link the child queries to the parent query?

    Helen,
    The best way for your case is to use a content folder and customize it whichever way you like.
    however, your question is about reports. the problem in reports is this that you have to use just one single query and the layout of the results of this query are displayed in a peculiar way.
    anyway. something similar but not exactly the same as what you wanted do is the following.
    use a query like the following: (with a union in between)
    SELECT COLUMN1,NULL , NULL ,NULL ,NULL
    FROM my_source_table
    WHERE myCriteria LIKE 'SoAndSo%'
    UNION
    SELECT NULL,COLUMN2 , COLUMN3, COLUMN4, COLUMN5
    FROM my_source_table
    WHERE myCriteria LIKE 'SoAndSo%'
    ---------- Now, have the following codes in the layout segments:
    <!--- header --->
    <table border="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="1" width="20%" align="center">
    <!--- body --->
    <tr align="center">
    <td><table border="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="0" width="30%" align="center">
    <tr align="center">
    <TH><#COLUMN1.FIELD#></TH>
    </tr>
    </table>
    </td>
    <TD class="report_cell" ALIGN="LEFT"><#COLUMN2.FIELD#></TD>
    <TD class="report_cell" ALIGN="LEFT"><#COLUMN3.FIELD#></TD>
    <TD class="report_cell" ALIGN="LEFT"><#COLUMN4.FIELD#></TD>
    <TD class="report_cell" ALIGN="LEFT"><#COLUMN5.FIELD#></TD>
    </tr>
    <!--- footer --->
    <TR><TD></TD></TR>
    this should produce a report with a table structure (you may see the whole if you give BORDER="1" in the main table tag). Within this table, the first column of the first row should be showing top-leftmost column value once (COLUMN1 value) and then the next rows would show last four column values as a table block on the right-bottom part.
    with kind regards,
    naqvi

  • Attribute "Report Layout" is missing in the "Print Attributes" tab for IR

    Hallo,
    The attribute “Report Layout” is missing in the “Print Attributes” tab for an interactive report?
    How to alter the report layout (xsl-fo) of an interactive report?
    Has someone any idea where to configure this?
    Btw, for the "classic" SQL Report the XSL-FO "Report Layout" can be cahnged in "Print Attributes" and this works fine for me. But I want to change the xsl-fo for the interactive report.
    "If you do not select a report layout, a default XSL-FO layout is used. The default XSL-FO layout is always used for rendering Interactive Report regions. ... Unlike classic reports, the Interactive Report Print Attributes can only utilize the default XSL-FO layout and is initiated from the Report Attributes, Download section rather than directly from this screen. Once configured, these attributes only apply only to the current region and cannot be used outside the context of the region."
    http://apex.oracle.com/i/doc/bldapp_rpt_print.htm
    How can the "default XSL-FO layout" be changed?
    Changing is necessary because the Apache FOP 1.0 reports the following error (for the transmitted default XSL-FO):
    "fo:simple-page-master", "fo:region-body" must be declared before "fo:region-before"
    http://www.w3.org/TR/xsl/#fo_region-before
    The default report layout is not saved in:
    select * from APEX_040000.WWV_FLOW_REPORT_LAYOUTS
    Thx, Willi

    I've found two workaround for getting Apache FOP 1.0 to work with Oracle Apex 4.0 for PDF printing of interactive reports:
    1, Use an application process to set your custom layout for interactive reports:
    [ ] grant all on APEX_040000.WWV_RENDER_REPORT3 to {YOUR_SCHEMA_NAME};
    [ ] Create an Application Process e.g. "Custom Report Layout" with constraint for request 'PDF' and Process Text:
    declare
    v_xsl varchar2(32767);
    begin
    v_xsl := '<?xml version = ''1.0'' encoding = ''utf-8''?>
    <xsl:stylesheet version="2.0"
      <fo:region-body region-name="region-body" margin-top="54.0pt" margin-bottom="54.0pt"/>
      <fo:region-before region-name="region-header" extent="54.0pt"/>
    </xsl:stylesheet>';
    APEX_040000.WWV_RENDER_REPORT3.g_prn_template := v_xsl;
    end;2, If you have some knowlege in Java change the sequnce of the the nodes in the apex_fop.jsp (or servlet), ie. changing the xsl before you use it for transformation.
    The code depends on the solution you are using to parse the xsl string.
    Hope this may help someone,
    Willi
