Forms calling Reports output issue RTF/PDF - strange issue
Dear All,
I'm looking for a bit of help with a strange situation calling reports from Forms.
This problem I'm getting in both 11.1.1 and 11.1.2 of Forms/Reports. Client is WinXP/7 (issue appears on both), Weblogic server is Linux (SLES11 and Red Hat - issue on both)
So the issue is
1. calling a report with output as RTF (this works fine and we use OLE2 to open the report in Word)
2. Wihile in that form call the same report though change the output to be created as PDF in the cache and the report then opens in IE (this too works fine)
3. Now if we try and do number 1 again (still in the same form) and run the same report again and choose to generate as RTF and open in word, it erroneously generates the report in PDF format but with an .RTF extension on the file.
Of course most of the time people would not want to do this, but the client has identified this issue and classified it as a bug, so we need to fix it (and it doesn't happen in the Forms6i version it is migrated from).
I have tried to ensure that the parameter list is correctly deleted and re-created, which appears to be the case. I also tried to generate a new unique parameter list for every run, which made no difference to the problem.
If I choose to run a completely different report, the problem has reset itself. So the problem exists only when I've chosen the PDF output and then run the same report thereafter as RTF output to a file.
Code to prepare for the RTF option is:
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'destype',TEXT_PARAMETER,'FILE');
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'desname',TEXT_PARAMETER,l_temp_env||'/'|| p_report || '.rtf');
l_report_desname := l_temp_env||'/'|| p_report || '.rtf';
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'DESFORMAT',TEXT_PARAMETER,'RTF');
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'REPORT_DESFORMAT',TEXT_PARAMETER,'RTF');
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'mode',TEXT_PARAMETER,'BITMAP');
l_report := p_report;
Code used to prepare for PDF option is:
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'destype',TEXT_PARAMETER,'CACHE');
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'desname',TEXT_PARAMETER,'');
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'desformat',TEXT_PARAMETER,'PDF');
l_report := p_report;
Any ideas gratefully received.
cheers
TonySo I delete the paramlist correctly, then the code is:
IF (p_display_method = 'W')
THEN
--WORD Format
--delete file on client
Delete_File('c:\temp'||'\'|| p_report || '.rtf');
--delete file on app server
host('rm '||l_temp_env||'/'|| p_report || '.rtf');
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'REPORT_DESTYPE',TEXT_PARAMETER,'FILE');
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'DESTYPE',TEXT_PARAMETER,'FILE');
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'DESNAME',TEXT_PARAMETER,l_temp_env||'/'|| p_report || '.rtf');
l_report_desname := l_temp_env||'/'|| p_report || '.rtf';
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'DESFORMAT',TEXT_PARAMETER,'RTF');
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'REPORT_DESFORMAT',TEXT_PARAMETER,'RTF');
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'MODE',TEXT_PARAMETER,'BITMAP');
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'printjob',TEXT_PARAMETER,'no');
l_report := p_report;
ELSIF (p_display_method = 'E')
THEN
--EXCEL format
--delete file on client
Delete_File('c:\temp'||'\'|| p_report || '.csv');
Delete_File('c:\temp'||'\'|| p_report || '.xls');
--delete file on app server
host('rm '||l_temp_env||'/'|| p_report || '.csv');
Delete_File(l_temp_env||'\'|| p_report || '.cvs');
Delete_File(l_temp_env||'\'|| p_report || '.xls');
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'destype',TEXT_PARAMETER,'FILE');
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'desname',TEXT_PARAMETER,l_temp_env||'/'|| p_report || '.csv');
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'desformat',TEXT_PARAMETER,'csv.prt');
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'REPORT_DESFORMAT',TEXT_PARAMETER,'csv.prt');
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'MODE',TEXT_PARAMETER,'character');
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'printjob',TEXT_PARAMETER,'no');
l_report := p_report || '_d';
ELSIF (p_display_method = 'P')
THEN
-- PDF Format
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'destype',TEXT_PARAMETER,'CACHE');
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'desname',TEXT_PARAMETER,l_temp_env||'/'|| p_report || '.pdf');
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'DESFORMAT',TEXT_PARAMETER,'PDF');
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'REPORT_DESFORMAT',TEXT_PARAMETER,'PDF');
l_report := p_report;
END IF;
So all of the above works fine when generating a report the first time you enter a form, but if you run a PDF output report then immediately in the same form generate the report again to a non-PDF format, it comes out in incorrectly in PDF format.

Issue while downloading the alv report output in spreadsheet format .
Hi,
I have a report output, whenever I try to download it in the spreadsheet format to my desktop,
I get the following issue:
Say the correct material number is 10833340001218999 or 10030000063207001
(This appears in the report output)
But in the excel file the number is displayed as 10833340001218900 and 10030000063207000.
Please help.
Regards,
Sucharita.Hi Sucharita,
The reason for your problem could be that in excel 2007, characters more that 15 are replaced with 0.
Or you can try downloading the data using FM 'GUI_DOWNLOAD' , if currently you are using stadard SAP functionality of data downloading.

Font issue between Reports Designer and Report Output
Hi.
I've succesfully migrated several reports from 6i to 10g (10.1.2.0.2) with and without parameter form. However, I have the following font issue:
- When report is run from Reports Designer, font is kept.
- When report is run from a forms module (through rwserver on the same machine, that is not really from an application server, but using Oracle BC4J or Developer Suite enviroment) the report output is different. In this case a bigger font is displayed and occasional truncation happens for some fields.
The question is: How can i avoid this difference in font behaviour?. Is it font.ali related?. How come this happen on the same machine(Windows XP)? These reports are to be deployed on Linux, where reasonably, and font machine is expected to happen.
Font used: Arial (Occidental) 9this might be an issue with the printer that is associated also, and the permissions to the printer that you might have..
login to the application server machine and restart the reports server as an admin..try running the reports via the URL..i have a feeling that this issue might be somethiing to do with the permission(s) to the printer from your AS machine -

Issue with Varchar2 field conversion for report output generated in EXCEL
Hello All,
I have an unique problem with one of my new reports for the User. The user wants the report output generated in excel data only(delimited data) format *(reports builder 10g)* .
Everything was fine until i encountered this problem, there was this field which has unique ID's(alphanumeric and numeric), when i tried to run the report and generate output in Excel the numeric ID's say for example *(41593497999679354429)* is converted in excel and displayed like *(2.5881E+19)* and after format cells in excel it displays *(41593497999679300000).*
The issue is only with 20 digits numeric ID's , if i append any special character to the end say '#' or '..' it shows the exact value along with the appended character. But the user insist they need only the value that is in the table. I am finding it hard to figure out, if any one of you have encountered the same issue or if any of you have any suggestions to overcome this excel conversion thing please do advice me.
Thanks in advance :)Thanks for you response, but i already tried what you suggested, instead of appending single quote in front of ID, i did at the end prior with '#', it preserves the value if i add any character to the id but the appended value shows up too :(.
Well, i just got the solution and it did work, thanks to [Brian Hill|https://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=651632] for the post, i did what exactly he said and it worked. I was so very happy and wanted to share with everyone. -
Report Output is not same as R/3 4.7 and ECC6 ( sort issue)
Dear Experts,
I have a problem with external sort used in the program. due to that report output records are not in the same order.
For example, i am extracting data from BSEG with fields company code, fiscal year, document no, item no, amount and GL Respectively.
in both the systems (R/3 4.7 and ECC6), data in internal tables are in same order by default.
but after the external sort using filelds company code, fiscal year and document no.
output records are sorted exactly with respect to the external sort order in both systems, but for certain line items are not in same order.
Please check below example.

411100The order of extracted records can no be assumed to be constant, any SQL optimizer can change behavior, even without any wide upgrade, but a single database or kernel patch as well as many operation of database administrator can change the order, as well as a change of user behavior, if they fill now another field in selection. So it is good practices to always sort (or use sorted type) internal table extracted or use a ORDER BY clause (provided there is an index in database, else do not)
Read online documentation of SELECT statement clause ORDER BY
The order of the rows in the result set refers to all columns that are not listed after ORDER BY, is undefined, and can be different in repeated executions of the same SELECT statement.
There are also some [MANY > 1000] OSS notes on the subject (look for your database, e.g. 1858427 - Incorrect Sorting of SQL-Select Statement, 1859655 - The result set of an SQL-Select Statement may not be sorted, 1858479 - Result set of select statement is not sorted, 1858569 - Incorrect access to result set of SELECT statement, etc.)
Also if you sort an internal table and require records with same key values to keep their respective order, use the STABLE clause.

Thanks for the reply.
In this I am using the FM 'CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF'. I have checked the settings from SPAD that is also same in both servers for particular output device. But the patches are diffrennt in both the servers, the server from which layout is not coming properly having the high level patches in compare to the other server(which is working fine). -

Report output Export to CSV issue
Hi Experts,
I have a Bex Query. After running the report when I export the report in CSV format using "Export to CSV" from the report output screen, the data
is being dumped in different columns And when i try to convert that particular CSV file to Excel as we can only select one single column for delimiting the values using a separator into different cells the data in the other column is being truncated.
Kindly suggest me how to resolve this.
Thanks in Advance,
SushmaHi,
(If anything else on the BW side doesn't help).
Not so long ago I had a similiar problem all data (originally taken from several columns) were in one column - solved it with the help of VB coding.
Sth like this could help you.

Intermittent Blank Rows coming in BI Publisher Report output
Hi,
We are working on a BI Publisher report output.
Issue
The report sometimes creates a blank row along with the headings of the report columns. Table has multiple records and between 2 records we have a data being displayed which is optional. When this record is null, it is creating an extra space and hence creating a new page with the headers and a blank row.
Reducing the space is one issue we have thought of. Are there any other pointers to this.
Thanks
IshaniHi,
I did not got the complete thing but as you told you need to remove the blank space in the report and at the same you told when a column returns null the row get displayed as blank row.
Then can you try using the Conditional region so that when ever you find the column value as null so you can hide that row.
Just try it i donot no if your requirement is exactly like this or what.
Thanks. -
PDF Format Oracle Reports font issue
My process is generating the batch oracle Reports.
Their key map is:
Key1: %* server=server1 userid=xxxs/xxx@xxxx report=D:\sample.rdf destype=file desformat=PDF
My process is calling IAS server to generate report. IAS ser is generating and saving the report in the specified location.Reports are running on the server locally and DESTYPE=FILE. So the Oracle Reports output is saved on the server itself. Whenever i open the report on my machine/server i have font issue. Some of the reports has very tiny font. It seems the reports generated by using oracle reports which is Arial Unicode font type is causing the problem. If any reports other then Arial Unicode font like Arial Westrn, those reports are fine. We have 1000s of reports. So we don't want to change each report font type. For me it seems the issue is with the font on the server. Is there anyway to ask App server use Arial Westrn if Arial Unicode not found. How to make these configuration changes in the server. Any suggestions please.Maybe this helps or at least points you in some direction ...
Have a look at font aliasing when configuring Application Server : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/bi.1012/b14048/pbr_font.htm#i1006140
If your Application Server is located on Windows I would suggest to install the fonts there.
In Unix, this a more complex task.
