Report Region incrementing ID number by 1 using Javascript

I have a report that pulls file names and id numbers from a table and displays them on the page.
I have set the 'id' column, which is a number type field in the table, to be a link to a javascript url that uses that number to delete the file from the table in question.
Whenever the javascript call passes the ID number to the function, it seem to round the number off - somtimes increasing the value by one and sometimes decreasing the value of the number.
My link on the report uses this syntax;
javascript:delFile(#ID#);
and the delFile function is as follows:
function delFile(cid){
var auth = $v('P52_AUTH');
if (auth.indexOf('D')>=0 || auth.indexOf('A')>=0) {
window.open('f?p=&APP_ID.:119:&SESSION.::NO::P119_DOCID:'+cid,'PopUp','scrollbars=no,resize=no,height=300,width=300');
else {
alert('You do not have sufficient rights to delete documents.');
I am at a loss. Why does the 'cid' var get rounded up or down when the variable gets populated?

I concur with what you are saying - this is standard javascript handling and my first assessment of the situation was that it had something to do with the data in the tables. The problem is that the data in the table is simply a number, and the function is passed the number through the link on the page.
Putting a functioning example on apex.oracle.com would be like me dealing with a problem I am having painting a house by building a robot to dip the paint brush in the paint bucket for me. The test would never result in an apples to apples example, and is far too complex an option to give any valuable return. Additionally, the reason I submitted the results I did is because when it works for a particular record in the table, it always works no matter what. When it doesn't work, it doesn't ever work for the data record in question. There isn't any mystery in this except for the 'black box' that is in the middle of it that populates the #ID# value. Is there anything under the hood with that that could cause the number to inexplicably round off?
My next guess that I have not tested is if the issue happens in Internet Explorer as opposed to Firefox. I have seen the problem in Firefox on Windows and Firefox on Ubuntu.
Is there anything in the report template that could cause the #ID# to inexplicably round itself?
I will do some additional testing and post what I find.

  • How to conditional display Report Region based on number of rows returned

    I have a page with two Report Regions.
    One Region should display if the Query returns 0-1000 rows. The other should display if the same Query returns more than 1000 rows.
    The only way I can figure out how to do this is have ANOTHER query in the conditions field for each Region to Select count(*) from etc.
    I know there is a #TOTAL_ROWS# value but that is only available after the Region is displayed. Is there some other built-in variable that can be used to put in the Conditions field or is doing duplicate SQL queries the only way?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Rather than running your query 4 times (by embedding it in your condition), you can have a region that is not displayed, with a hidden item, and set the value of the item in a before header computation to the count of your query. Now you can conditionally display based upon the value of that item.

  • Child Report Window Size XI 3.0 SP2 Using Javascript

    Hi All,
    I have to admit this is not my area  . I'm trying to get a new webi report in a sizeable window using javascript. I want to achieve this by selecting an open doc link from an existing webi report.
    We have been trying with the code below but get the 404 Missing Page error.
    We have been trying to get this to work on Edge. Do I need to install any SDK on to the system to get this to work?  Can anyone let me know the steps, please.
    Thanks...
    Mark
    Code:
    "<a href=__\"javascript:window.open('../../opendoc/openDocument.jsp?iDocID=Aa252KU2ReBDm4TkGkVTOLM&sIDType=CUID&sType=wid&sReportPart=UIREF%3ARID%3D1005%3ABID%3D1008&mode=Part&sRefresh=N&sWindow=New','SAMPLE ','width=350,height=250') \" title=\"\" target=\"_self\" nav=\"doc\">"[Actual].[Kpi Group]"</a>"

    Thanks for the response Guys.
    I have done a bit more digging and I think that you can only create a link referencing Java script in a  crystal report, not Webi?
    One way I thought of getting round this is to create a copy of opendocument.jp and add my Java script, in there, to resize my child window.
    Any comments or experiences to share?
    All the Best,
    Mark.

  • SQL Report Region

    Hi,
    I am using apex 4.0.1 and I have a page with several SQL Report regions. The user can edit the data in the report regions by clicking a column that uses a href link to open a DML page in a modal window. The user can then amend some data in the modal window, press save which closes the modal window and uses the partial page refresh process to refresh the SQL report region. (Using apex.event.trigger('#SOME_REGION'),'apexrefresh')).
    If I navigate through the report to show rows 31-45 and then click on a href to edit a record. On pressing save, the report is refreshed but the rows displayed goes back to 1-15.
    How can I get the report to stay showing the rows 31-45?
    Cheers
    Paul.

    I believe this answers my question

  • Print out of Report Region dropping negative values

    I am very new to APEX (< 2 months) and don't have much of a programming background. I have created a report layout using BI publisher and made it available as a shared component in my APEX applicaiton. When I print the the report region, most of the data displays fine on the print out, but any amounts with negative values are suppressed. I can view the negative amounts just fine when they are displayed on the report region itself.
    It took me quite a while to get the style sheets from BI Publisher to work with APEX. I thought the two were supposed to be compatible. Does anyone know how to resolve the issue above or if their are any known compatability issues between BI Publisher and APEX? We are on APEX version 4.2.1.00.08 and BI Publisher version 11.1.1.

    This was indeed a bug. Response from Oracle:
    This issue has been noted by development as a bug and I have file bug 16224878 regarding your issue. The issue explained by development pertains numeric format string which wraps the negative value in angle brackets: < val > , and the report is treating this as a HTML tag and filters it out. It looks like this is happening only for classic report regions, i.e. report queries seems to support this type of numeric format mask.
    A work around would be to turn off printing for the classic report region and to provide a button to a report query for printing, using the same SQL for the report query as is used for the report region. Alternatively you could also use a different format mask.

  • How to get the number of rows in a report region

    Hi all,
    Is there a way to get the number of rows returned in a report region, without issuing an additional "select count(*) from some_table"?
    I mean something like the substitution string #ROW_NUM# but for the total rows.
    Thanks,
    Pedro.

    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17556_01/doc/user.40/e15517/ui.htm#CHDDGGEG
    For classic report regions, the region footer supports the following substitution strings:#ROWS_FETCHED# shows the number of rows fetched by the Oracle Application Express reporting engine (the page size). You can use these substitution strings to display customized messages to the user. For example:
    Fetched #ROWS_FETCHED# rows in #TIMING# seconds.
    *#TOTAL_ROWS# displays the total number of rows that satisfy a SQL query used for a report.*
    #FIRST_ROW_FETCHED# and #LAST_ROW_FETCHED# display the range of rows displayed. For example:
    Row(s) #FIRST_ROW_FETCHED# through #LAST_ROW_FETCHED# of #ROWS_FETCHED# displayed>

  • Using Javascript in a report region

    I have a text box that I need to populate with an amount for billing. There is also a field that shows the amount due. If the amount due is equal to the amount being paid, I want my user to click on the amount due, and it automatically populates the amount being paid. I am using the javascript:setValue('destination','origination'); command, but the problem is that I am unable to choose the text field in the javascript. I have tried using #value# aliasing, and htmldb_application.g_f0x and just f0x... nothing seems to properly alias the text box within the tabular form. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Scott,
    I know a way to do this, but it is not an easy implementation and it is quite hard to explain. Carl is an Oracle guy so he may know of a better solution, but here is what I came up with on my own:
    First let's be familiar with the htmldb_item syntax (found in the html db documentation):
    HTMLDB_ITEM.TEXT(
    p_idx IN NUMBER, -- unique id
    p_value IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT NULL, -- value of item
    p_size IN NUMBER DEFAULT NULL, -- HTML tag attributes
    p_maxlength IN NUMBER DEFAULT NULL, -- max length
    p_attributes IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT NULL, -- HTML elements including where you incorporate the javascript for this item
    p_item_id IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT NULL, -- id you can specify
    p_item_label IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT NULL) -- labe you can specify
    I would create your report region using the following sql statement:
    select order_number "Order Number",
    name "Name",
    amount_due "Amount Due",
    lpad((ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY order_number)),4,0) "Row Num",
    htmldb_item.text(7,amount_paid,null,null,null,'f07_'||lpad((ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY order_number)),4,0) "Amount Paid"
    from tbl_orders
    where....
    order by order_number
    --i had to use an order by to get the ROW_NUMBER() to work
    This will create on every row an item that is specific to the row number. For example:
    Row # Amount Paid text box item ID
    1 f07_0001
    2 f07_0002
    500 f07_0500
    etc.
    This will allow you to reference items based on what row they are when using javascript.
    Next you need to create a link out of the the amount_due column. Go to the Report Region, then the Report Attributes tab. Click on the edit link for the amount_due column. Go to the Column Link section.
    Make link_text = to the value of amount_due column(#amount_due# probably)
    Make the Target = URL
    Make URL = javascript: setValues('#AMOUNT_DUE#','#ROW_NUM#');
    This will send the value of amount due and the row number.
    Here's the javascript you would put in your HTML Header on you Page Attributes:
    <script language="JavaScript1.1" type="text/javascript">
    function setValues(due, rownum){
    document.getElementById('f07_'+rownum).value = due;
    </script>
    Give that a shot. I just created a page and got that to work.

  • Show APEX Row Number in Report Region

    I would like to display the row number in the report region at the beginning of each row for each page (based on the number of rows to display per page).
    So if the number of rows per page is 15, I would want to show each row from 1 to 15. When going to the next page (16 - 31) I would like to show row 1 to 15 again next to each row.
    And if the number of rows per page is 20, I want to see row numbers 1 to 20 on each page.
    Since I believe an Update button only processes the current page, I would like to then use this row numbers (1 - 15) to get the values of the displayed column for each row to perform an insert to another table.

    You can use something like this:
    SELECT apex_item.text (1, '#ROWNUM#') row_num, empno, ename,
           deptno, comm, sal, mgr
      FROM empExample is here:

  • PL/SQL Table use in report region query

    Hello,
    I have a package function which return pl/sql table. I want to create a report region based on this pl/sql table. Is it possible to do this kind of report in HTMLDB?
    Please guide me in this area.
    Thanks
    HA

    The htmldb_collections API (apec_collections in 2.2) is a very useful method for rendering reports and one I have used extensivly in the past.
    Once created and populated you can reference your collection as if it were a SQL table i.e.
    Select c001, c002, c003
    from htmldb_collections
    where collection_name = 'MY_COLLECTION';
    You can absolutly base an Apex Report region on collections. Just treat them as another table that you can select from, join to others etc.
    In order to utilise this you must do the following:
    1) Create your collection:
    note that collections only persist for the duration of your session and you can only see the data you inserted into the collection. Also I would create this collection as the Database user who owns the Apex Workspace
    htmldb_collection.create_or_truncate_collection ('MY_COLLECTION');
    2) Populate your collection:
    In your case I would set a loop construct that parses through your pl/sql table and assign all values as described below. I assumed that my_plsql_tab has 3 columns called Val1, Val2, Val3
    FOR x IN 1..my_plsql_tab.count
    LOOP
    htmldb_collection.add_member (p_collection_name => 'MY_COLLECTION',
    p_c001 => my_plsql_tab(x).val1,
    p_c002 => my_plsql_tab(x).val2,
    p_c003 => my_plsql_tab(x).val3
    END LOOP;
    Note that you can have upto 60 elements in your collection.
    3) Access your collection:
    Select c001, c002, c003
    from htmldb_collections
    where collection_name = 'MY_COLLECTION';
    This quesry can then form the source of your sql report region.
    Hope all that helps
    Duncan

  • Number of Rows Displayed in a SQL Report Region

    Hi,
    Just wondering whether it is possible to control the 'Number of Rows' displayed under the 'Layout and Pagination' section within the Report Attributes page.
    Basically need to know if I can programmatically control this or even better, can it be customized by the user as the user may want to see say 15 rows, 200 rows or 'All' rows of a certain region on the page. FYI, I have three different report regions on one page and want to give the user the flexibility to modify the number of rows displayed per region.
    Thanks.
    Tony.

    Tony,
    you can find that in this how-to document:

  • Refresh PL/SQL Report Region (not Page) using Select List value

    Hi,
    I've got a report region based on a 'PL/SQL function body returning a SQL query'which gets generated on selecting a value from a Select list item, The Select List action is 'Redirect and Set value' but this causes the whole page to refresh rather than just the report region. I've tried to refresh the report only using a dynamic action on the Select List item (Action now reset to  'None') but now the report is not appearing on choosing from the List. Can anyone suggest a solution that will allow me to refresh this report without refreshing the page? I am using APEX 4.2.2 and the report syntax is as follows:
    DECLARE
      v_statement VARCHAR2(500);
    BEGIN
      SELECT query_text
        INTO v_statement
       FROM sql_queries
       WHERE query_id = :P2_QUERY ;
       RETURN v_statement ;
    END ;
    where P2_QUERY is Select List Item,
    regards,
    Kevin.

    KevinFitz wrote:
    The report region being displayed is conditional on P2_QUERY item being NOT NULL. I assume the region not appearing is because the Action for the Select List Item is set to None and so P2_QUERY is always NULL.
    No, the region is not appearing because it is conditional on P2_QUERY being NOT NULL. This means that the report region never exists on the page shown in the browser, so it can't be dynamically refreshed. (Dynamic refresh doesn't evaluate region conditions, and it only re-renders the report content, not the entire region.)
    Remove the condition on the report region, check the refresh is working, then reconsider exactly what the requirements here are. If you want the region to appear only when P2_QUERY has a value, and you want it to be refreshed without submitting and re-rendering the page, then the region needs to be hidden rather than conditionally rendered, and shown via a dynamic action when P2_QUERY gets a value.
    I tried adding an additional Set Value True Action for the DA event but got an error as listed above,
    All irrelevant if Page Items to Submit on the region is used properly.

  • Problem with using a Spatial Query in a report region

    All: I am trying to create a report region using the below query. The query is syntactically correct and returns 10 rows. I have checked it out in SQL Developer AND in APEX SQL Workshop. It returns rows in 1-2 seconds.
    However, after putting the query into a report region, the APEX page locks up when it runs. I've tried masking it in a view, using other functions. I can places the spatial function in the select clause and it works. However, placing the function in the Where clause causes the page to lock up.
    Any thoughts?

  • Increment a number without using sequence in Mapping

    Hi,
    Is there anyway to increment a number without using oracle sequence generator in OWB? I am using version 10.2.0.4.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Siva

    Perhaps it would help if you were more specific on what you wanted to do. I mean, there are many ways to generate sequences of numbers in Oracle. For example:
    select level as seq_num from dual connect by level < 100;
    to get the integers from 1 to 100. If you are dealing with order of rows within subsets of a query, take a look into analytic functions like rank().
    But "Ways to increment a number"? Sure:
    create function increment( x in number) returns number is begin if x is not null then return x+1; else return null; end if; end;
    Now call your increment function!
    Not sure what you are trying to accomplish, and can't help much without knowing.
    Sorry.
