Report region to display at a certain position

I have many regions in a report page, they are all in Report Template Body 3 position. I use column# to arrange the display order.
Regions that have data will always display first, those that do not have data are conditioned to not display. I may end up region displays at different position depends on how many regions have data. for example:
if I have 2 regions that have data, it shows: --------region1--------- (many spaces in between)----------region2----------
I want no matter how many regions I have data: --------region1-------------------region2----------
Sort of those display regions should be all next to each other. How do I control that display position?
Thanks,
Yivon

Thanks for the replies. I really appreciate!!!
The link examples seem to have predefined set of regions, mine is more dynamic -- Not knowing how many region will display.
A hint I got from the links is: Get the display position, with width and height, from the previous region and set the position for the next region with the same width and height.
Can anyone show me how to do that? I am a newbie to the web programming...
Thanks again,
Yivon

  • How to limit an Interactive Report Region from displaying.

    I have a page which is an interactive report. When you call that page from another one it takes a while as it is selecting all rows (over 10k). Once those rows are retrieved and the user adds a filter criteria it's relatively fast. How do I limit the report from running when I call the page until the user adds a filter?
    thanks
    John

    I'm not sure how this works. If I set it to a really small number say 5 rows it shows only 5 rows upon rendering of that page. However, when I subsequently click on Go for all rows or any other larger number I don't get the larger number. How do I get that portion to work as well?
    thanks

  • Outlook 2013 Bug - Categories Column Does Not Display Color In Certain Positions

    My System: Outlook 2013-64 on Windows 7-64
    When looking at my email list (preview pane off), the categories column displays its color and text. But when the Categories column is moved to the left of the "from" column, it ceases to display its color and displays only its text, even when
    the column is wide enough to display everything for a category.
    Can someone tell me  how to fix this?
    This did not happen in Outlook 2010 and 2007.

    Hi,
    I just confirmed this issue exists on Outlook 2013, when categories
    column is dragged to the left to From, the categories don't display the colors but label texts instead.
    While I didn't find this issue on Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2007.
    Thank you for being so careful and pointing out this problem, whenver you have any feedback about this product, you can always press Ctrl + Alt + 7(Send a Smile) or Ctrl + Alt + 8(Send a Frown) to submit it. Currently I cannot promise the

  • Partially refresh the sql report region by clicking the region selector tab

    Hi,
    In my page i have a region display selector tab. This region selector tab contain show all,booking,service,.. etc. when i click the booking tab,sql report region will appear. My intention is when i click the booking tab i want to refresh that region partially to display the record according to sql query in that region source of report region.
    how to do this?
    skud.

    No, the region is not appearing because it is conditional on P2_QUERY being NOT NULL. This means that the report region never exists on the page shown in the browser, so it can't be dynamically refreshed. (Dynamic refresh doesn't evaluate region conditions, and it only re-renders the report content, not the entire region.)
    Remove the condition on the report region, check the refresh is working, then reconsider exactly what the requirements here are. If you want the region to appear only when P2_QUERY has a value, and you want it to be refreshed without submitting and re-rendering the page, then the region needs to be hidden rather than conditionally rendered, and shown via a dynamic action when P2_QUERY gets a value.
    I tried adding an additional Set Value True Action for the DA event but got an error as listed above,
    All irrelevant if Page Items to Submit on the region is used properly.

  • Refresh PL/SQL Report Region (not Page) using Select List value

    Hi,
    I've got a report region based on a 'PL/SQL function body returning a SQL query'which gets generated on selecting a value from a Select list item, The Select List action is 'Redirect and Set value' but this causes the whole page to refresh rather than just the report region. I've tried to refresh the report only using a dynamic action on the Select List item (Action now reset to  'None') but now the report is not appearing on choosing from the List. Can anyone suggest a solution that will allow me to refresh this report without refreshing the page? I am using APEX 4.2.2 and the report syntax is as follows:
    DECLARE
      v_statement VARCHAR2(500);
    BEGIN
      SELECT query_text
        INTO v_statement
       FROM sql_queries
       WHERE query_id = :P2_QUERY ;
       RETURN v_statement ;
    END ;
    where P2_QUERY is Select List Item,
    regards,
    Kevin.

  • SQL Report Region error in 4.0

    Hi guys,
    Forgive me if this issue has been discussed already. My server was updated to 4.0 and my report region now displays with the column headers above the wrong columns - they are slipped to the left one place. I looked at the source code and I think I found the problem. The code is below. The table id parameter is missing an end quote. This is just for Deafult Look 4.
    I don't think there is anything I can do on my end, but let me know if I am wrong. Thanks.

    Hi Bill,
    I reviewed the procedure which emits the HTML for these built-in report templates, and you are correct - there is a missing trailing double quote after the ID attribute of the TABLE tag. I believe this affects all built-in report templates.
    I have filed internal bug 9880291 and this will be a high priority for us to include in the forthcoming Application Express 4.0.1 patch set. A workaround (albeit not elegant) is to use one of the theme's report templates and not one of the built-in report templates. I'll ask internally if there is any other viable solution to this problem in the meantime.

  • Reports region only shows 15 rows

    I have a strange problem with a reports region. The region runs a simple SQL select against a table. My table has 18 rows but the report region only displays 15 rows.
    I ran the SQL directly against the database and all 18 rows are returned, so it's not a problem with the query.
    Under the Report Atrributes tab for the region, I checked the Layout and Pagination section. Number of rows was set to 15, which I thought explained my problem.
    I deleted the value in number of rows. But the region still only shows 15 rows.
    If I change the value in number of rows to 20, all 18 rows are shown. But again, if I delete the 20, only 15 are shown.
    Is there some other setting somewhere which is defaulting the report to 15 rows?

    That item is cleared as well. Very strange. Still can't see anything on the page that's causing it to only show 15 rows.
    Edit -
    Setting it to 999999 seems to cure the problem until I find a solution. Very strange, maybe it's a bug?

  • Number of Rows Displayed in a SQL Report Region

    Hi,
    Just wondering whether it is possible to control the 'Number of Rows' displayed under the 'Layout and Pagination' section within the Report Attributes page.
    Basically need to know if I can programmatically control this or even better, can it be customized by the user as the user may want to see say 15 rows, 200 rows or 'All' rows of a certain region on the page. FYI, I have three different report regions on one page and want to give the user the flexibility to modify the number of rows displayed per region.
    Thanks.
    Tony.

  • Conditional display in a SQL-Report/Report Region

    Hi,
    here I have an example for "Conditional display in a SQL-Report/Report Region". I figured it out in Firefox 3.6.2 using Firebug as development tool on Apex 3.2.1.00.12.

    Maybe you have to modify the "vd_getBody" function. I'm searching the table cell with having the class "t10data". When you use another theme, there's maybe another class used.
    Second is, that you set an static id for your report region. I prefer this structure:
    R<app-id><page-id><seq> (Raaaaappppsss) e.g. R094260001010.
    First example is to turn off the onMouse-Effect. Maybe on the first or last column definition you put this code in the "HTML-Expression" area:
    <script>ex_conditional_tr('R094260001010', #ROWNUM#);</script>#ID#This will call the example function ex_conditional_tr with the parameter
    a) the region id
    b) the rownum (as oracle always starts with 1 this is the first data row [rownum=0 is the table header row])
    Second example is the conditional formatting of a table cell. Put this in the HML-Expression area:
    <script>ex_conditional_td('R094260001010', #ROWNUM#, #COLNUM#-1);</script>#ENAME#This will call the example function ex_conditional_tr with the parameter
    a) the region id
    b) the rownum
    c) the cellnum (here we have to subtract 1 to get the "real" cell index)
    The "ex_conditional" functions are just a representation of how to get the row or cell node.
    Hope this help a bit.
    Tom

    I would use a CASE statement in the select....
    each CASE would be an img src tag for a different button if the button is an image.
    does that make sense? I can include an example if you would like...

  • SQL-01403 error reported in a Report Region when there is data to display

    I have a report region populated by a PL/SQL function body returning a SQL Query. When the region is displayed, "ORA-01403: no data found" is output when there should be rows displayed on the report. I see a lot of postings related to ORA-01403, but none seem to describe why this problem occurs or how to solve it.
    Here is the generated SQL query:

    Please advise. Thanks.

    Create a summary column (lets say "CS_TotalRecords") at report level, and set the following properties:
    Function: Count
    Source: column which can not be null (if report displays some data)
    Reset At: Report
    Create a format trigger at most outer frame (the frame you want to hide and all object within that), and write following code:
    BEGIN
    IF NVL(:CS_TotalRecords,0) = 0 THEN
    RETURN (FALSE);
    END IF;
    RETURN (TRUE);
    END;
    Hope this helps.

  • How to find orientation of  image displayed in a report region

    Hello,
    I have Apex 3.1 application showing an image in a report.
    The images are held as files on the web server and filename and description held in a database table
    I can use SQL to retrieve the data into report columns and then HTML expression to display the image as a fixed size as shown below. This works fine for landscape pictures but obviously distorts portrait ones.
    I wanted to check the orientation of the image and adjust width and height if portrait. I was considering using javascript to get image.height and image.width but am not sure how to reference the column and feed back into the HTML expression.
    Is this this the best approach and any help how to reference the column would be appreciated
    Many thanks

    This example may help you, although a bit different from what you want to achieve:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:212
    The point was:
    1. display image region should be fixed size (300px wide and 300px height)
    2. if the image size is bigger than that, the region should expand automaticaly.

    Is it possiable to have the fields in a report region based on an sql query be display in somthing other than a row? For example if I have a Report Region with four columns it will look something like:

    <Field 1, row 3 value> <Field 2, row 3 value>
    <Field 3, row 3 value> <Field 4, row 3 value>
    etc
    Maybe there is a nother way to do this that uses somthing other than an sql based report region. Thanks very much for the help.

    This can be done using a SQL query report region with a [custom report template|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14373_01/appdev.32/e11838/themes.htm#sthref1744].
    Unfortunately the documentation is not particularly helpful on this topic, and as use cases tend to be very specific, reusable solutions are rarely shared in the community ("custom" reports after all...) See [this thread|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=1569996] for a good discussion of the technique, with a link to an example on apex.oracle.com.
    A response to [another recent thread|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=1012690] showed another example on page 1 of the [Online Store demo app|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/packaged_apps/packaged_apps.html#STORE], which you can download, install and examine. This uses a custom report template in conjunction with the report HTML Expression feature.
    (I'm not totally clear on the display you're after: it might help to repost it using some example data rather than the abstract <Field 2, row 1 value> approach. Wrap the sample in \...\ tags to get fixed width characters that can be made to align, if that will help.)

  • To display the list of File Name in a report region from a Directory

    Hello All,
    Can any one guide me in displaying the list of file name from a file system directory in a report region with link?
    On click of the link it should display the open/save dialog box.
    I will appreciate the early solution. (It is bit urgent)
    Thanks,
    Shyam

    A quick, "dirty solution would be to have a cron job (I am assuming you are on a UNIX-based system) that populates a file periodically with the names of files in a directory/directories. Then have an external table that points to that file. You can then create an Apex report that lists the contents of the external table.
    1) crontab job:
    ls -1 /source_dir/* > /destination_dir/file.list
    2) create external table:
    CREATE DIRECTORY filedir AS ' destination_dir ';
    GRANT READ ON DIRECTORY xfer_files TO public;
    CREATE TABLE file_list_ext (file_names VARHCAR2(100))
    ORGANIZATION EXTERNAL
    TYPE oracle_loader
    DEFAULT DIRECTORY files_dir
    ACCESS PARAMETERS
    records delimited by newline
    fields terminated by ','
    missing field values are null
    (file_name)
    LOCATION ('file.list')
    REJECT LIMIT UNLIMITED;
    3) create APEX report on table: file_list_ext
    Hope this helps.

  • Bug - Report Region In Wrong Position

    Apex 4.2
    I have a page with a parent region and 3 child regions
    I want region 1 and 2 next to each other and region 3 below.
    So I made the settings as below.
    region 1
    sequence 10
    template: html region
    start new grid: no
    start new row: no
    region 2
    sequence 20
    template: report region
    start new grid: no
    start new row: no
    new column: yes
    region 3
    sequence 30
    template: report region
    start new grid: yes
    For strange reason region 2 is appearing above region 1, even in edit page mode.
    Region 3 is in the correct position
    Any ideas ?

    I tried it on oracle.com already and it works.
    I tried adding a new region with a sequence of 15.
    Once created it appears below region 1, which is correct.
    I now change the setting to
    start new grid: no
    start new row: no
    new column: yes
    So it should appear next to region 1 but it is placed above region 1 next to region 2.
    There must be something in my region 1 that is causing this, but I cannot find it
    Can you reproduce this in a new page in the application on your local instance?
    Is there anything in sub region 1 that renders non-APEX-sourced HTML that could break the grid? One of your previous threads involved a custom table inside the form layout.
    Can you post the HTML source of the entire parent region (simplify it to contain as little content as possible and redact any sensitive information)?
