Report vb2005 oracle database

Hi,
I want to create reports for my windows application(vb2005 with oracle 10g database).
I was using crystal report when i was developping with an access database and vb.net but its not working.
Does someone have an idea of doing it with vb2005 and oracle 10g.
With thanks.

This gives you data for the whole day and the first column tells you which hour data it is,
SELECT 'HOUR' || TO_CHAR ( req_date, 'HH24') AS hour_num,
       col1,
       col2,
       col3
  FROM table_name
WHERE TRUNC (req_date) = TO_DATE ( '22/06/2011', 'DD/MM/YYYY')G.

  • Need help to analysis "foreground and background wait events" on statspack report for oracle database 11.2.0.4 on AIX

    Hi: I'm analyzing this STATSPACK report: it is "volume test" on our UAT server, so most input is from 'bind variables'.  Our shared pool is well utilized in oracle.  Oracle redo logs is not appropriately configured on this server, as in 'Top 5 wait events' there are 2 for redos.
    I need to know what else information can be dig-out from 'foreground wait events' & 'background wait events', and what can assist us to better understanding, in combination of 'Top 5 wait event's, that how the server/test went?  it could be overwelming No. of wait events, so appreciate any helpful diagnostic or analysis.  Database is oracle 11.2.0.4 upgraded from 11.2.0.3, on IBM AIX power system 64bit, level 6.x

    Hi: just know it now: it is a large amount of 'concurrent transaction' designed in this "Volume Test" - to simulate large incoming transaction volme, so I guess wait in eq:TX - row is expected.
    The fact: (1) redo logs at uat server is known to not well-tune for configurations (2) volume test slow 5%, however data amount in its test is kept the same by each time import  production data, by the team. So why it slowed 5% this year?
    The wait histogram is pasted below, any one interest to take a look?  any ideas?

  • Generating hourly report from oracle database using sql developer .Help

    I am working on SQL Developer 1.5.1, i need to prepare hourly record of the activity on the database, for that i have a sql query that gives me the report as per selected columns on hourly basis.I need to prepare 24 reports a day.
    Each time i have to go to the query , change the date as per hours like form 22:06:2011 10:00:00 to 22:06:2011 11:00:00 and get the report and export it in excel.
    I want to automate the script so that whenever i run the script , it just asks me the date and runs the script 24 times and fetch me the hourly report of whole day.
    the query syntax is something like this
    Select
    from
    where
    And.......................
    And...................
    And......................
    And req date between to-date( 22:06:2011 10:00:00) And to-date(22:06:2011 11:00:00)
    Order by 7,1,2,3,4,5
    Is there any possibility that i can automate the script to automatically change the hour itself and generate a report in excel 24 times?please share if you have any idea on this.
    Looking forward for a response.

    This gives you data for the whole day and the first column tells you which hour data it is,
    SELECT 'HOUR' || TO_CHAR ( req_date, 'HH24') AS hour_num,
           col1,
           col2,
           col3
      FROM table_name
    WHERE TRUNC (req_date) = TO_DATE ( '22/06/2011', 'DD/MM/YYYY')G.

    I can ping the server. I can login using sqlplus.

  • Generic Reports accessing Multiple Database Servers

    <p>Hi,</p><p>I have a report which is accessing a table present within SQL Server. This is done by creating a system DSN which points to SQL Server at report design time through the database expert from the Crystal Reports Developer. The same table is also present in another database server ie ORACLE. The requirement is that I should be able to execute the report against ORACLE database at runtime. I have seen a lot of examples to do this using ODBC and OLEDB ie changing datasources at runtime but all of these have to specify the database username and password at runtime. </p><p>Is there any way for me to achieve this without passing the username and password at runtime? If so it would be great if i could get all possible approaches to achieve this. </p><p>Thanks in advance</p><p>Joseph Samuel</p><p>&#160;</p>

    I am doing the samething.
    I found that if the report is created under OS Auth mode of Oracle, then it is OK in integrated security mode in runtime, you don't need to set any logon information in runtime, but sure, please follow the OS Auth requirement of Oracle.
    But if the report is created using stand security mode and wish it to be run under integrated security mode in runtime, then a logon error would occurs, but if the crystal report view control set to enable the database logon promot, then we can still enter something in username textbox and check the "use integrated security" checkbox, then the report is still OK.
    I wish to have the database logon prompt disable and override the logon information in program in runtime and let the report shown without any problem, but up to now, i still have no any idea.  I will come back after I got any solution for this.

  • How to pass a date parameter from report builder query designer to oracle database

    i'm using report builder 3.0 connected to oracle database. i'm trying to pass a date parameter in the query with no success, i don't
    know the exact syntax. I've tried :
    SELECT * FROM igeneral.GCL_CLAIMS where CREATED_BY IN (:CREATED_BY) AND CLAIM_YEAR IN(:UW_YEAR) AND (LOSS_DATE) >To_Date('01/01/2014','mm/dd/yyyy')
    it worked perfectly.
    However if i try to put a date parameter "From" instead of 01/01/2014 it will not work, a Define Query Parameter popup window appear and error occurred after i fill
    the values (usually i shouldnt get this popup i should enter the value when i run the report)
    SELECT * FROM igeneral.GCL_CLAIMS where CREATED_BY IN (:CREATED_BY) AND CLAIM_YEAR IN(:UW_YEAR) AND (LOSS_DATE) >To_Date(:From,'mm/dd/yyyy')
    appreciate your assistance

    Hi Gorgo,
    According to your description, you have problem when in passing a parameter for running a Oracle Query. Right?
    Based on my knowledge, it use "&" as synax for parameter in Oracle, like we use "@" in SQL Server. In this scenario, maybe you can try '01/01/2014' when inputing in "From". We are not sure if there's any limitation for To_Date()
    function. For your self-testing, you can try the query in sqlplus/sql delveloper. Since your issue is related to Oracle query, we suggest you post this thread onto Oracle forum.

  • Crystal Report Viewer Not Releasing Oracle Database Connections

    I have a very simple vb.net 3.5 web application that uses the Crystal Report viewer 2008 to open a report. My requirements are as follows:
    1. Reports are built by another company and provided to us and used in a web environment
    2. All reports contain parameter fields
    3. The web application must be generic enough that a report can be added to a list and the user simply selects the report and provides database login information. The Crystal report viewer with handle the request for parameter values and prompt the user for their values.
    4. All reports connect to an Oracle 10g server.
    The above requirements have been meet and we have an extremely simple web application that runs the reports. It is working very well other than the crystal report viewer is not releasing the database connections. This is bad because the credentials are on a per user basis and that same user must login to a different oracle application simultaneously. They are being denied access because the credentials are already in use. We do not have control nor influence over the policies in use on the Oracle server. Ideally we would like to control the Crystal Report viewer so that it closes connections after use.
    The web application code is:
    Private Sub viewReports_Init(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Init
    If Not IsPostBack Then
    ConfigureCrystalReport()
    End If
    End Sub
    Private Sub ConfigureCrystalReport()
    'Load the Crystal Report viewer with a report.
    Try
    Dim reportPath As String = Server.MapPath(Session("reportname"))
    crViewer.ReportSource = reportPath
    Catch ex As Exception
    Response.Write(Server.MapPath(Session("reportname")) & "
    " & ex.Message.ToString & "
    " & ex.StackTrace.ToString)
    End Try
    End Sub
    Can anyone shed some light on this topic? Thank you

    Hello, Timothy;
    By default, having the report in session will hold it open for 20 minutes.
    If you create the report as a ReportDocument object you can take it out of session and release it more efficiently. That will release the connection.
        Private Sub ConfigureCrystalReports()
            If (Session("hierarchicalGroupingReport") Is Nothing) Then
                hierarchicalGroupingReport = New ReportDocument()
                hierarchicalGroupingReport.Load(Server.MapPath("Hierarchical Grouping.rpt"))
                Session("hierarchicalGroupingReport") = hierarchicalGroupingReport
            Else
                hierarchicalGroupingReport = CType(Session("hierarchicalGroupingReport"), ReportDocument)
            End If
            myCrystalReportViewer.ReportSource = hierarchicalGroupingReport
        End Sub
    In the Form Unload of the Viewer:
                'Take the report out of session
                Session("hierarchicalGroupingReport")  = Nothing
                Session.Contents.Remove("hierarchicalGroupingReport")
                'Clean up the ReportDocument object
                hierarchicalGroupingReport.Close
                hierarchicalGroupingReport.Dispose()
                hierarchicalGroupingReport = Nothing
                GC.Collect()

  • Using AE(htmldb 2.0)  as for reporting tool for other oracle databases.

    Maybe I was mistaken, but when I first saw the HTMLDB demo's I saw this as a slick way to build a browser based reporting tool for the masses for quasi-ad-hoc reporting on some of our larger databases that currently have limited reporting capability, and also as a possible replacement for the many MSAccess applets we have.
    I just got 2.0 installed and working on a 9i database and went through the basic tutorials, but I can't find much info on how to connect to other oracle databases.
    Are my options as follows?:
    create dblinks from the local database that houses htmldb to all the other databases?
    or
    install htmldb schemas on each database I want to access from htmldb?
    or
    I'll keep looking, but if any of you have any pointers or know of a tutorial that explains the best way to do this it would be greatly appreciated!
    tia

    As for question 1, yep, that's what I mean. Example:
    In a schema in the App Express instance, create a user called "APP1_USER", and then
    create view app1_user.people as select * from people@link_user@remotedb
    As for the next question, using the built-in insert/update/delete processes will give you
    ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column
    among other errors. Apparently version 2.1 will fix this. See Cannot Update VARCHAR column in Remote DB
    We address this problem by creating pl/sql APIs for DML, and then writing our own insert/update processes. Slows us down a little, but even with that, App Express remains a productive choice for us.
    Another weird problem: auto-row fetch (built-in to HTML DB) doesn't work over db links when you have two columns for a primary key. Many ways around this, e.g. create sequence-populated primary key, create a view with single column that concatenates primary key column values (key1|key2)
    Hope this helps!

      END IF;
    return(missed_text);
    End;
    Note:- Text column from table msgnotes is of datatype CLOB.
    I have executed report having this function before oracle upgrade and it works fine.
    But when i am trying to execute report after oracle version upgrade from 11.2.0.3.0 to 11.2.0.4.0 with same data report fails with runtime error Rep-1401: '' Fatal PL/SQL Error.
    With New version we tried to typecast Text column from clob to varchar and executed report then it works... but report runs on old version without any explicit typecasting.
    Please note when i run and call this funtion from sql developer with upgraded database version it works fine.
    Please advise.

    This error can possibly depend on the fact that the PL/SQL engines are in different versions. When using SQL Developer you use the PL/SQL engine in the database. When using Oracle Reports you use the PL/SQL engine in the Oracle Reports Server (Web Logic Server even maybe). These versions - in the Forms and Reports realm - are different (read: a lower version) than the PL/SQL engine in the database.
    If I check what version I have in Oracle Forms, as an example, I get 11.1.0.7.0 (Help in the Oracle Forms Builder menu) but in the database I have (select * from product_component_version;) 11.2.0.3.0.
    That COULD be your issue...how to fix it I am not sure...

  • Oracle database monthly statistics report

    Hi Guys,
    Are you guys preparing any monthly report of the health of the database to the management?
    Was thinking what can we can provide as hit ratio is not a accurate matrix.
    Need some ideas from u all.
    thanks!

    yes, you can definitely prepare some reports presenting the health of your Oracle database and believe me it's much better in database 10g onwards.
    I recommend you to explore AWR views (Check reference guide in documentation library and search for DBA_HIST_XXXX views). These views will give you the data which you see in AWR report. Since AWR report gives you health of a system between two time periods, writing customized queries using these views will give you desired output for a complete month.
    For example, and most important in your case, is DBA_HIST_SYSSTAT. You first need to finalize the metrics which you want to show. Oracle has some inbuilt metrics for you and you can check them in DBA_HIST_SYSMETRIC_HISTORY, like host CPU utilization, session logical reads/sec, user call/sec.

    Hi Samy,
    I did some checking and found the old platforms text file for which servers we supported:
    Crystal Reports Data Sources
    =======================================
    Report Data Source              Database Client
    Oracle 8.1.7                  Oracle Net client 9.2 (Native)

                                    JDBC Oracle 10.1
                                    OLEDB  Oracle 10.1
    As you can see we needed the 9.2 client. I do recall now there were UNICODE issues with earlier versions and 9.2 was the fix which is why we supported the 8 server but with the 9 client.
    So not sure why it worked previously but likely because Windows 7 doesn't have the dependencies XP would have had it may be the reason....
    Bottom line is you are not on a supported platform so we have not done much testing ourselves on how to get around these issues....
    Thanks again
    Don
