Report with double aggregation
Hello
I need to produce the following reports :
Material Group Counter
MG1 12
MG2 30
The counter counts the numbers of materials of respective material group whose sales are higher than value entered by user.
The report should first be aggregated up to material level and then up to material group level.
Key figures with exceptional aggregation dont help. Calculation before aggregation isnt supported any longer in SAP BI 7.0.
Virtual key figure or cube based on FM?
Thanks

Report with non aggregated and aggregated columns from different facts.
Hi,
We have got requirement as follows,
1) We have two dimension tables, and two fact(Fact1 and Fact2) table in physical.
2) In BMM we have made hierarchies for both dimensions, and are joins both logical fact table.
3)In fact1, we are having three measures of which we have made two as aggregation sum, and one is non aggregated(It contains character).
4)Fact2 have two measures, both are aggregation as sum.
5)Now here the problem arises, we want to make a report with some columns from dim and non aggrgated column from fact1 and and aggregated column fact2
How to resolve the above issue.
Regards,
AnkitAs suggested you really want to move your none-aggregated fact attributes to a logical dimension (using the same physical table as the logical fact). Map this in the BMM layer as a snowflake, Place a hierarchy on this dimension with (at minimum) Total -> Detail levels, then on the other fact table you want to include in the report, set the content level on your other fact measures to the 'Total' level for your new logical Dim and it will allow them to be present in the same report.

How to format the report with the aggregated value
Hi,
I have 2 characteristics and 3 KFs in the infocube.
First field is Cost Center
Second field is creation Date
3rd field is KF1
4th field is KF2
5th field is KF3
I have put the date field( in the row) as this is required for calculating formula for KFs. But I have set that as No display.
The date in the info cube is as follows.
Cost Ceneter Date( no Display) KF1 KF2 KF3
CC1 01/01/2006 100 150 200
CC1 02/02/2006 75 100 95
CC1 05/02/2006 125 95 125
CC2 01/02/2006 75 25 85
CC2 02/02/2006 85 65 10
As the Date field is in query set to No display so the date appearing in the report is as follows
CC1 100 150 200
75 100 95
125 95 125
CC2 75 25 85
85 65 10
But I want the aggregated value at cost senter level i.e.
CC1 300 245 420
CC2 160 90 95
I can not remove the Date frield from query as there is a formula variable defined on the date field.
Please let me know how to bring the report to the required format.
Bill

Bill BryanIf you are in new Bex, you can do it.
You will have to create another (set of) CKF on top of the current ones (which do exception aggregation on DOCNUM) and set the exception aggregation on date.
Say you have
CH1--CH2CH3--CKF1
To have a 'before aggregation' behavior for CKF1 when CH3 is not present, you will create a CKF2 = CKF1 with exception aggregation on CH3.
Now, if you want to remove CH2 and have the 'before aggregation' behavior you will need to create another CKF3 = CKF2 with exception aggregation on CH2.
ie for each level of aggregation, you will have to define a new CKF/Formula with corresponding exception aggregation - this is what will be needed to get you your output.

Tree Matrix Report with double line heading
Hi,
I am very new to HTML-DB and HTML as well.
I need to create a matrix report with a tree functionality and with two line heading.
Basically This is what I need to generate
REGION1 REGION2 REGION3
COL1 COL2 TOTAL COL1 COL2 TOTAL COL1 COL2 TOTAL
===========================================================
CAT1+
Sub_CAT1
Sub_CAT2
CAT2+
Sub_SCAT3
Sub_SCAT4
Where CAT1 , CAT2 needs to be collapsible rows. SCAT1..SCAT4 are sub categories under main categories.
REGION1.... REGION3 are top level headings. And COL1,COL2 are sub headings under top level headings.
Thanks,
ShriPlease help me on this!

can anybody help me in resolving this issue.
thanks
pradeepHi Amit
Its working fine in my system
and also im getting the quantity value as 1.00 by using this code
Dim matrix1 As SAPbouiCOM.Matrix
Dim oform As SAPbouiCOM.Form
oForm = SBO_Application.Forms.Item("frm_test")
matrix1 = oForm.Items.Item("1").Specific
oForm.DataSources.DataTables.Add("Approval")
oForm.DataSources.DataTables.Item("Approval").Clear()
Dim Str_Query As String = "Select Father,Code,Quantity From ITT1"
oForm.DataSources.DataTables.Item("Approval").ExecuteQuery(Str_Query)
matrix1.Columns.Item("V_0").DataBind.Bind("Approval", "Code")
matrix1.Columns.Item("V_1").DataBind.Bind("Approval", "Quantity")
matrix1.LoadFromDatasource()

Aggregation issue for report with bw structure
Hi,
I am facing aggregation issue while grouping reports in webi.
We have a BW query with 16 values, which we bring to bw as structure. Out of 16, 8 are percentage values (agg. type should be average).
If we bring the data at site level, data is comming properly. But if we use same query and try sum/grouping( on region level), then percentage is getting added.
Since it's a dashboard report with lots of filters, we cannot go for seperate query at each level(site, region, zone).
How we can resolve this.. please give me suggestion.
Regards
BabyHi,
Since we were using structure, it was not possible to produce the required result in BO.
We change structure to keyfigures and bring all of them in to BO. All the column formulas are now in BO side.
Now it is working fine.
Regards
Baby

SSRS Report Returning Double Quote string from a Single Quote String
Hi, I'm getting weird thing in resultset from SSRS report when executed. When I pass parameter to a report, which passes String that has single quote value to a split function , it returns rows with double quote.
For example following string:
'N gage, Wash 'n Curl,Murray's, Don't-B-Bald
Returns:
''N gage, Wash ''n Curl,Murray''s, Don''t-B-Bald
through SSRS report.
Here is the split function Im using in a report.
CREATE Function [dbo].[fnSplit] (
@List varchar(8000),
@Delimiter char(1)
Returns @Temp1 Table (
ItemId int Identity(1, 1) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY ,
Item varchar(8000) NULL
As
Begin
Declare @item varchar(4000),
@iPos int
Set @Delimiter = ISNULL(@Delimiter, ';' )
Set @List = RTrim(LTrim(@List))
-- check for final delimiter
If Right( @List, 1 ) <> @Delimiter -- append final delimiter
Select @List = @List + @Delimiter -- get position of first element
Select @iPos = Charindex( @Delimiter, @List, 1 )
While @iPos > 0
Begin
-- get item
Select @item = LTrim( RTrim( Substring( @List, 1, @iPos -1 ) ) )
If @@ERROR <> 0 Break -- remove item form list
Select @List = Substring( @List, @iPos + 1, Len(@List) - @iPos + 1 )
If @@ERROR <> 0 Break -- insert item
Insert @Temp1 Values( @item ) If @@ERROR <> 0 Break
-- get position pf next item
Select @iPos = Charindex( @Delimiter, @List, 1 )
If @@ERROR <> 0 Break
End
Return
End
FYI: I'm getting @List value from a table and passing it as a string to split function.
Any help would be appreciated!
ZKAnother user from TSQL forum posted this code which is returning the same resultset but when I execute both codes in SQL server it works and return single quote as expected.

Report with 5 ALV grids on 1 screen
I am trying to build a screen/report with 5 ALV grids which are interactive. One grid will display all sales order. When I click on a Sales order Hotspot, the items of the sales order would appear in the ALV grid box below.
When i click on an sales order item hotspot, i want the delivery information in another alv grid in the same screen.
There should be 2 more grids - one displaying the customer information -name,address, in one grid and one grid for open items if any. Any advice is welcome . Should I be creating a split container/docking container or multiple containers ? Sample code is welcome.
Edited by: Shareen Hegde on Apr 2, 2008 9:25 PMHello Shareen
Below I have added my sample report ZUS_SDN_THREE_ALV_GRIDS showing three interactive ALV grids. Perhaps it might be useful to you. I would prefer one or multiple splitter containers over multiple "stand-alone" containers.
*& Report ZUS_SDN_THREE_ALV_GRIDS
*& Display Customer data in three ALV lists:
*& 1st ALV: Customers
*& 2nd ALV: Sales order of selected customer (double-click)
*& 3rd ALV: Positions of selected sales order (double-click)
*& Double-click on material -> display material (MM02)

In need help: Analytic Report with Group by
Good morning,
I am trying to create a report with subtotal and grand total, which of couse goes to the group by clause, with rollup, cube, grouping... etc. I'd like to use rollup, then some columns in the Select list have to be put into the Group By clause, which is not supposed to be. So I had to use one of SUM, AVG, MIN and MAX functions, to make those columns as *aggregated, which is wrong.
Another alternative I tried is to use Cube and Grouping_id to be the filter. However, that is still very cumbentsome and error-prone, also the order of the display is absolutely out of control.
I am trying hard to stick to the first option of using the Rollup, since the result is very close to what I want, but avoid the usage of aggregation functions. For example, if I want to display column A, which should not be grouped. Other than using those aggregation functions, what I can do?
Thanks in advance.Luc,
this is a simple and a good reference for analytic functions:
http://www.orafaq.com/node/55
It takes some time to understand how they work and also it takes some time to understand how to utilize them. I have solved some issues in reporting using them, avoiding the overkill of aggregates.

Double aggregation in a single query block doesn't make any sence.
How can I argue with something that apparently has been cast in stone by ANSI SQL committee? Well the answer is famous: "Search any park in any city: you'll find no statue of committee".
OK, why
select count(1) from (
select deptno from emp
group by deptno
is an easy to understand query, and why
select count(count(*)) from emp
group by deptno
is not? I already mentioned one reason why count shouldn't accept any arguments, therefore count(count(*)) is a nonsence.
The other reason is that aggregation without grouping is essentially aggregation within a single group. Once you realize that
select sum(1) from emp
is the same as
select sum(1) from emp
group by -1
(where -1 or any other constant for that matter is a dummy pseudocolumn), then it becomes obvious that what we are doing in the infamous
select count(count(*)) from emp
group by deptno
is a query with two blocks
select count(1) from (
select deptno from emp
group by deptno
) group by -1
We are not allowed to combine two "group by" into a single query, aren't we?Aggregate function always goes together with grouping. Grouping can partition the set of rows into many classes or a single class. Therefore, if we have 2 nested aggregation functions, we'd better be able to identify the corresponding groupings easily:
select state, avg(min(tax_return)) from household
group by city, state then statewhich is a shorthand for
select state, avg(m) from (
select city, state, min(tax_return) m
from household
group by city, state
) group by stateSpeaking of double aggregation, it is frequent in graph queries. The part explosion query is posted repeatedly virtually every month on this fine forum:-) The part explosion is double aggregation: multiply the quantities along each path in the assembly hierarchy. Then add the quantities along alternative paths. Likewise, finding a shortest path between two nodes in a graph is double aggregation query. First, we calculate the length buy adding the distances along each path, and then we choose a path with minimal length. Wouldn't it be nice to have this double aggregation wired into the connect by syntax? Note that connect_by_path is a surrogate aggregate which concatenates strings. People invent all kind of functions which parse this path and make other aggregates out of this value (such as sum and product). -
Bug with double division ??
Hello,
first sorry my bad english...
I am trying to convert a C program in java and i had a big problem with double division.
For example, my program needs to do that :
double d = 2. * 3.1415926 ;
double d2=511;
double d3=d/d2;
The value in memory of d3 is 0x3f892e92965e074e whereas with my original C program, for the same code) the value in memory is 0x3f892e92965e074d !!!!!! (the last byte is different)
So what is the problem ? Is the double division in java different with the C language or is it my code which has a problem ??
Thanks a lotIt could be different than (some implementation of) C, but that doesn't mean it's a bug or a problem. Java is supposed to implement an IEEE floating point specification; if you can demonstrate that it's not following that spec (I think it's IEEE 754) then report it as a bug. Incidentally, do Java and your version of C implement 3.1415926 the same way?
(Also, if that number is supposed to be pi, then the inaccuracy you claim in Java is much less than the inaccuracy you made by using an approximation to pi.) -
Custom report with FAGLFLEXA and "Document type"
We have new GL and we must do a custom report like this:
Hierarchy of ProfitCentre ______Credit for mm.yyyy___ Debit for mm.yyyy
Profit centre 1_____________________ c1_______________d1
Profit centre 2_____________________ c2_______________d2
ect. ....
The value of c1 is the sum of monthly credit for a profit centre, for a group of accounts, but only for certain "document type".
The "Document type" is what worries me.
I have already written a similar report with Report Painter, reading data from the table FAGLFLEXT (0FL library), but took the full credit from the account (for all "document type"), without restrictions on the document type (the table FAGLFLEXT not contain the field "document type").
The data I need in my report, I can see with T. FAGLB03. Double-clicking on, for example, the value of credit you go into detail, and data can be selected for different "Document type". I still do not understand how it works and which tables use the T. FAGLB03 to have these data in detail.
Please, help me what exactly to do?My questions are these?
My principals questions are these:
1 . I think, inevitably, i have to link two tables: FAGLFLEXA (the one with the given to him) and GKFP that contains the field BLART (Document Type). This is the right way? Is there another way?
2 This report can be create with one of SAP tools: Report Painter, SAP Query, ... or the only solution is to write a program in ABAP?
3. If i'm not asking too much, you could give me a step-by-step description of how i should proceed?
All suggestions are welcome.
Thank you in advance. Many points to assign who will help me to solve this problemI know PowerShell can help you with the Get-SCSMRelatedObject command but you would have to write a small script to get that to work en mass.

Summary Report with 4 Dimensions and 5 Facts
Hello OBIEE Czars:
I have a problem.
I am trying to make a summary report with 4 Dimensions and 5 Facts.
Out of that only 2 Dimensions are Confirmed.
Now when I try to bring in all the facts, I get view display error.
I searched forum for similar issues.
So I have tried following so far.
1) Add other dimensions as source and set level to Total for those dims.
- After doing this, I dont get view display error, but I get blank rows for couple of facts.
2) I am already aggregating all the measures.
Please help me out.
This forum has been very helpful so far.
Thanks.
~VinayHi
This method seems fine until you run a request that includes a filter on an unconformed dimension.
The SQL itself should be quite straightforward (see below) but the BI Server instance does not seem to be joining this data correctly after posting the 2 separate queries to the database.
SELECT
x.dim1, x.dim2
x.fact1_agg_measure
y.fact2_agg_measure
FROM
SELECT
dim1, dim2
SUM(fact1.measure) fact1_agg_measure
FROM
dim1,
dim2, --UNCONFORMED+
fact1
WHERE
.... .... join fact1 to dimensions as normal
AND dim2 = 'BUSINESS_IDENTFIER'
GROUP BY
dim1, dim2
) x,
SELECT
dim1
SUM(fact2.measure) fact2_agg_measure
FROM
dim1,
fact2
WHERE
.... .... join fact2 to dimensions as normal
GROUP BY
dim1
) y
WHERE
x.dim1 = y.dim1
The result set returned in Answers is firstly a correctly aggregated record plus ALL rows from the second query above ??
Just wondering if anyone else has come across this issue?
cheers

ALV Reporting with drill down capabillities
I'm creating a abap custom report using the ALV. I want to drill down to CJ03 which is projects. I know how to do it in regular custom reporting, but I don't seem to be able to get it to work using the ALV. Can anyone help?
Thanks.
LindaHi Linda,
Take a look at this sample program. The logic to handle any interaction with the user is in my "PORCESS_USER_COMMANDS" routine.
This is defined in the "I_CALLBACK_USER_COMMAND" parameter in the ALV FM.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Pat.
