Report with more than 30 columns

XML Pub Gurus,
I have a requirement where I need to create a table layout with proper spacing for more than 30 columns and I asked this question in Open World XML Pub team and they responded to my question as "The page size in word has to be increased to allow to add those many columns". I was satisfied with the answer without knowing that Word will not allow more than 22" long in landscape. So, I am puzzled with the answer in Open World.
So, could somebody please give me guide lines to create this type of report for more than 30 Columns. This is very common requirement for us to report some of the stuff from the db.
Thanks in advance
Ram G

What do you want your final destination format to be? I'm thinking you'll probably want to go out to HTML or Excel. I would think that would be the only place where you could read and use a report with more than 30 columns.
Here's an idea if you want to go to excel and if you are using the 10.1.3.2 Enterprise (standalone) version.
1. Create your query with as many columns as you want.
2. Don't create a layout at all
3. Launch Excel Analyzer.
4. From within Excel, build your report based off the downloaded data (for example add a pivot table).
5. Upload your excel Analyzer template back to the server
This template can now be scheduled and delivered like normal templates or updated with current data directly from within Excel.

  • Reports with more than 100 columns

I am using Apex 3.2. I am using a classic report with more than 100 columns. So to use the custom heading in the report, I exported the page, did modification in exported sql file and imported back.
But when I am passing the parameters from a input screen for the first time either it is showing the all data avilable in the database or with only header. If I do the refresh in input screen and try it then it is working as intended. I am updating at the below loaction of the page.Let me know if I have to update anything more in the sql file.

    Hi,
Its just a general thought and I realize you know your application and user community better I do, but do you think your users are going to be very happy when they are presented with a report with more than a hundred columns? Have you considered maybe presenting the data in some sort of rolled up form from which the user can then drill down to the data they are particularly interested in. Also, I'm sure your LAN administrator would be happy not to see 100+ column by x number row reports being regularly shipped across the network.
Also, 100+ column reports suggests tables with 100+ columns which are probably not designed in a very relationally compliant way. I find that good DB design usually results in applications that have to make less compromises, such as hacking export files in order to fool the API into making ridiculous, unsupported and unsupportable compromises.
    Just a thought..................

  • Report with more than 500 rows

I have a report with more than 500 rows and i donot know the total number of records returned from sql query before hand. Is there any way to dynamically set the MAX ROW COUNT in the report - layout and pagination.
    Thanks a lot
    Sudha

    Hi All,
The main problem for the scenario is that....Say you first create a SQL query based report with setting the row per page 15 .Now after the region is displayed if u go through the report attributes of the page and change the no. of row per page and apply changes the same will not going to reflect in the report display page.
For ur case just select the no. of page u want to show while creating SQL Query based report region say 1000 and after creating the region go to the report attributes -> Layout and Pagination -> Max Row Count : 9000 (say).
I have solved the problem after creating 700 rows and the all rows displayed in the page fine........If u have further issue plz revert back to me.
Thats solve ur problem i think.....
    Thanks n Regards,

  • DIAdem report with more than 3 signals

    Hi everybody!
How can I create a report with more than 3 signals  as input. The DIAdem report accepts only 3 signals as Input.
In my opinion this is an very easy question but I could not solve it during a few hours!
    Thanks in advance,
        Manuel123

    Thank you for your answer!
But I have still some problems.
According to your help I have connected eight of the signal-boxes to the connector. After that it is possible to connect up to eight signals to this sub-vi. Great!
But now I want show all these signals in the Diadem report, for this reason I created a new report-layout (see attachment) and wired the path of it to the "report layout file" - input. Unfortunately Diadem uses still a layout with just two signals and even if I open my own layout in Diadem there are only two data-lines listed in the "Data Portal: Internal Data" - panel.
    Where is my failure?

Is it your values in parameter NO separated by coma? And is it
    parameter in where clause?
Do you want something like :
    from table
    where s_no in (NO) ?
If is answer "yes" you can create lexical parameter in report.
You can write in report sowething like:
    select a.field1, a.field2,.....
    from table a
&COND /* this is if is condition only one line after "from".
if you have more lien after where then you will put this &COND
in line where you want to have your multivalue.
Then in your trigger in form you should write:
    sc_no := 'where a.sc_no in ('||:searchlist.c_no||')';
    ADD_PARAMETER(PL_ID, 'pamametername', TEXT_PARAMETER, sc_no);
/* again this is if you have only one line with WHERE ili
    conditions */
    or you will write:
    sc_no := 'and a.sc_no in ('||:searchlist.c_no||')';
    ADD_PARAMETER(PL_ID, 'pamametername', TEXT_PARAMETER, sc_no);
It will substitute line in which is your conditions with
    multivalue.

  • PS2013 / SQL 2012 - A SQL Reporting Services Report with more than one filter connection looses connection in a site template

    Hi,
I created in a sub site not linked to a project to become a site template. I inserted two SQL Reporting Services reports web part that require the same two dates for an interval and the name of the project in a page of the site and connected
to three filters, two for date and one for text and I got the page below (only one of the reports shown).
Look that all parameters needed by the report are linked to the filters above the report.
Then I save the site as template with all contentes and assign it to the EPTs and create a new project or replace the site of existing project site. What I got is:
Look that the filter connection of the dates are lost (in both reports) and the order of the filters changed.
I deleted and retried to connect the filters in diferent order and language, but I did not get any success.
The BI Central Data Connectivity resource is activated in the template site and in the site collection.
Is there any solution for this?

    Hi,
Correction: this happens only with "Date Filter" web part!

  • Running a  BEx report with more than one query in Background

I am having a workbook with 2 queries .This workbook needs to be executed at a particular time every day and then save this file to a application server location .
The file name has to dynamic, as everday a new file has to be created with some date stamp.
Please let me know the steps/ ideas to achieve this

    Sudhakar,
are you sure that it has to b a workbook ? running queries independently can be done .. am not sure if a workbook can be scheduled to run...
One alternative is to use APD - have the queries run and populate two ODS and then have these ODS in a multiprovider and have one query output for the same - seems to be a very longworkaround...
Another option is to have the queries executed in an ABAP programme and then have the results in an internal table and push both the result sets into an excel sheet ad save it in the application server.
For reading queries in ABAP there is a functionmodule for the same .. something like RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ .. I am not too sure of the name but there is a function module for sure..
    Hope it helps..

  • Reports 9i Graphs with more than one query..

    Hello,
I am converting my 6i reports to 9i reports. On my graph reports with more than one query, when I invoke the graph wizard it changes the value of the src to the wrong query automatically. When I run my report, I am getting the error REP-0069 Internal Error rwlib-1: REP-6219 Column (Column Name) not in given cursor hierarchy. Although it's a pretty easy fix to go into the graph settings in the property palette and change it back, it is extremely frustrating. Has anyone else ran into this problem and did you find a permanent fix?
    Thanks,
    Laura

    Hi Laura
One workround would be to create a new query in the Data Model that includes desired fields, and then source
    chart to the new group.
FYi, bug2527100 was filed on this issue and is already fixed. The fix would be available in 9i Reports 9.0.2.2 patch. Reports 9.0.2.2 patch is scheduled to be released on Mar 05 2003 (tentative date).
    Thanks

  • Generating excel with more than one tab

    Hi,
I would like to ask if anyone of you know how to generate excel file from Oracle Reports with more than one tab? Is it possible? If yes, can you provide me some references on how to do it. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Do this:
    1. Create an Excel file, put some dummy data in 2 or more worksheets. Save as HTM. This will create one main HTM file, and some sub-files under a folder. One HTM sub-file will be created per worksheet. In addition, one XML sub-file (called filelist.xml) and some other sub-files will be created. (you have already done this)
    2. Open one of the HTM sub-files in reports builder, and follow the steps shown in the Excel Demo on OTN to insert data in this file at appropriate place, and save as JSP.
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/demonstrations/excel/index.html
    3. You can repeat this step for all worksheets. So finally you will get one JSP file per worksheet.
    5. Now open the main file in reports builder, and add the Excel contentType element at the top
         <%@ page contentType="application/vnd.ms-excel; charset=windows-1252" %>
    6. In this file, search for the following tag
         <x:WorksheetSource HRef="./filename_files/sheet001.htm"/>
Note that instead of filename_files you will have your own file name
    Change this tag as following:
         <x:WorksheetSource HRef="./filename_files/sheet001.jsp?userid=scott/tiger@myDb"/>
Note that in userid, you must provide your own DB connect string
    7. Additionally, change ALL references to sheet001.htm in this file to sheet001.jsp
Do steps 6 and 7 for sheet002.htm, sheet003.htm, and so on (if needed).
    8. Open filelist.xml (you will find this file inside the folder that contains sub-files). Here, too, change all references to JSP instead of HTM
    9. Now place the main JSP file as well as the folder containing all sub-files inside your J2EE deployment folder. Run the main JSP file. This will run the associated JSP files (the worksheets).
    This will do the trick.
If you are worried about placing the USERID information inside your JSP code, then you can use CGICMD.DAT file, and place the userid there.
    Navneet.

  • Report with more columns than will fit on a page

<p>I&#39;m just beginning to use Crystal Reports (30-day Developer eval). I&#39;m trying to create a report with more fields than will fit across one page. The "extra" fields seem to wrap on the first page. I&#39;d really like to print the report across two pages, like Excel does with its "Fit to 2 pages wide" option.</p><p>Is this possible in Crytal? What do folks do when their report is "wider" than the width of the page? </p><p>&#160;</p>

This is a relatively easy fix. Basically you need to make a huge default page for your printer, and use that layout when printing.
    1. On Windows, go to Start -> Printers & Faxes
    2. Click on File -> Server Properties
    3. Check 'Create a new form'
    4. Change the form name field to something you can remember... I called mine GIGANTIC CRYSTAL LAYOUT
    5. At the bottom change the units to the size you would like. I use 100" wide x 14" tall.Â
    6. Click Save Form when you are done.
    7. Then click 'Close'
In crystal start your report (or create a new one) and change your printer settings to use this new form. If it doesn't show up under your default printer, try changing the printer crystal is looking at, and selecting your new form.
    Â Hope that helps.

  • Attachment with more than 255 columns

    Hi together,
i want to send a mail in background with an attachment with more than 255 columns through the function module SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1 . The required content-structure of this function module have 255 columns......
I try it also with the function module SO_DOCUMENT_REPOSITORY_MANAGER with the method 'SEND'
but i can't suppress the popup of this function module.
Have anybody an solution for me ?

Attachement table has a strucutre SOLISTI1 which can contain only 255 characters BUT you can use the CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES=>CR_LF for the new line  and CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES=>HORIZONTAL_TAB for the column separater.
You need to concatenate this Separters in the attachment table.
    Check out this example:

    Hello Tanuj,
You need to use a page format greater than 255 columns for sure. However still if it does not solve the issue then you may consider using the note 186603.
PS: I guess you are on a higher release than 4.6 C . For this release this note íIt has a text attachment for a report tat allows to display such spool requests.
    Regards.
