Good afternoon,It has been a while since I have used Crystal Reports and I was hoping someone could help me with this:Let me explain the data:We have an application that tracks Cases for Patients. For every 1 Case there are MANY Notes. For every 1 Case the are MANY Appointments. I have two data sets that I am using as my data sources for this report:1. Notes by Case2. Appointments by CaseOkay, I would like to create a report that displays for each Case:1. Case information2. Appointments related to the Case3. Notes related to the CaseI keep getting a bunch on duplicates due to the 1:M relationships with Case. Is there a solution? I hope I have been clear.Thanks in advance.mamorgan1

BI+ Reporting With Multiple Data Sources

Hi -
We've been using BI+ Reports with multiple data sources on separate grids. We are wondering if there is a better way to ensure the user has their point of view bar in sync between the the data sources. In our case, both Data Sources are separate HFM applications with all the dimensions identical except the account which is defined on the report. We are not using Metadata Management.
I'm aware of the "Merge Equivalent Prompts" in the Preferences > Financial Reporting window, but this does not always ensure the users have the same point of view.
What practice are other companies using to make sure the user runs the reports accurately with both point of view bars pulling the same entity/year/period.

Thanks for your answer, however my question - I know it looks quite messy - is not directly related to data templates, my problem is that at the moment I am using a stored procedure following - almost exactly - what another procedure does in oracle EBS to call a BI publisher report.
1. This procedure populates some temporary table with the xml data where the concurrent request picks it up and uses it to populate the BI publisher template.
2. However I can't go and specify the XML location in my data template as this is not an option for us (i.e. reading the xml from the temporary table), so I am looking for another way to populate the BI publisher template (Note: I can't as well include the SQL queries in my Data template).

11i EBS XML Publisher Report with Multiple Data Source

I need to create XML Publisher report in 11i EBS pulling data from another 10.7 EBS Instance as well as 11i EBS in single report.
I am not allowed to create extract or use db links.
My problem is how to create Data Source Connection using Java Concurrent Program.
The approach I am trying is
1. create Java concurrent program to establish connection to 10.7 instance.
2. Will write the SQL queries in Data Tempalete with 2 Data Source 1 for 11i EBS and 2 for 10.7 EBS
3. Template will show the data from both query in 1 report..
Is there any other way to proceed using datasource API...

option1:
The query should be same @ detail level, only the template has to be different for summary and details.
@runtime, user can choose to see the detail/summary
Disadvantage, if the data is huge,
advantage , only one report.
option2:
create two separate reports summary and details
and create diff data and diff layout and keep it as different report
Advantage, query will perform based on the user run report, summary/detail, so that you can write efficient query.
Dis advantage , two reports query/template to be maintained.

One report with 2 data source

Hi i want to produce one report from 2 data source where there is no relation but there is one common fields ,Like in form i using 2 datablock to produce the result. My query is

Here when i search by Br it should display from both tables.I cannot join or put datalink because it will produce duplicate records from the tables.

Hello Frederico,
as far as I know you can only use one data source of type InfoObject, basic cubes or ods in an infospoke. Perhaps Analyses Process Designer (APD) may help you to achieve your goal. You can use it to join your InfoObject into a new one, or create a transactional ODS with the desired data. These new objects can than be used in an infospoke. And you can use a process chain to put all required steps in the right order.

Report with Two Queries -- Really need your Help Guys

I might be posting duplicate thread but i couldnt found the Q&A that i am looking for.
I am trying to create a report where i have to use two query. Also, with this query i am passing parameter where i ask user to enter Report Month so they can run report by what ever month they want to see data.
Now my Q_2 is duplicate or Q_1 because in my final report layout i have to display fields where i have to compare current_month_data to Previous_month_data. so basically i want user to in put current month date and previous month date and layout look like.
Company_Name Currentmonth_sale previousMonth_Sales ....
Honda $1423.42 $324.42
Toyota $3433 $4255.45
so on....
Now so far i create report manualy and drop two query in to the report but when i trying to create Report Wizard and group by each Company.. it is not giving me the out put that i want. Instead of giving me above out put its give me my Q_! result with each company group and then under that result i have Q_2 result.
so HOW CAN I DISPLAY FIELDS FROM MY Q_2 WITH MY REST OF THE FIELD ON Q_1?????????????????????????

Actually, I tried to use Data Link but i am not able to success.
Let me know if I am doing anything wrong . i click on left hand side tool panel where its says DATA LINK. then i click on Q_1 field and then drag the mouse over to Q_2 query with same field name. but its give me an error that Can not link it because of Group data and i have option to choose Yes, NO or Cancel.
Let me know what are the step i need to take in order to link this two queries.

New physical server - with two DC's - need help!

My scenario is I have a small business who has two locations. The "IT" guy is set in a way that he wants to do this, and he has contracted me to help.
Site 1
192.168.1.x network
SBS 2003 server (on really old hardware) Lets call this server SBS1
Site 2
192.168.2.x network
Is a domain controller thats a global catalog. The two sites replicate. Lets call this server Server2
SIte 2 Site VPN between the two offices
The OLD IT guy took an image of the SBS server six months ago, and put it on newer hardware. But it was never implemented. Since 6 months ago, not much has changed, a few new PC's and a few new users.
The current "IT" guy wants to put the imaged SBS that is the newer hardware server into the network and decom the old SBS server.
The network can be taken down, and downtime is okay. This doesnt need to a quick drop in and go.
My concern is, if I drop in the imaged server of the SBS server that was done six months ago, its going to look and say hey, there are some accounts that I dont have, so im going to remove them from Server2.
Whats the best way going about this?
I have suggested some other routes, but the "IT" guy is insistent on doing this, and well he's paying me by the hour so im fine following his lead.
Also the "IT" guy is willing to recreate missing user accounts if that happens.

Some more information, the SBS server is not really being used as an SBS server. Exchange is not running, no sharepoint, etc.
Its basically a file server, print server, and DC.
When they did the image -this was six months ago-, they just cloned the old SBS server to new hardware. Now the IT guy wants to drop that cloned SBS server onto the network. I know i'll have to re copy all the users data files, etc.
I just need to know how AD is going to react. Is the Server 2, going to push its AD updates to the SBS server because its 6 months old? Or will the SBS say, hey im supposed to be the main DC, so update to my old information?
Are there any other huge issues that could happen? The image being six months old, is that going to cause huge issues with replication?
Should I just take a new image and put onto the server that currently has the six month old image?

Report with 2 data sources (TTX) & VFP memo to recordset problem

Dear All,
I work on this for a few weeks, but still cannot fix it. Please help.
I use 2 TTX to create a report in CR XI. One table is do most things including grouping. Another table just contains 3 fields. Two fields are keys for left join with the main table, but it contains less key than the main table. That is some key in the main table may not exist in this one. The third field is a Memo field in Visual Foxpro. Now the memo field cannot display.
I got 2 methods to convert the VF cursors to Recordsets for reporting. The first one is creating a subroutine to convert the VF cursor by myself to convert VF Memo field to Recordset's adVarChar like:
oRst.Fields.Append(<fieldname>, 201, 2147483647)
This method didn't work
The another method is using VFPCOM, a COM object that download from microsoft. That can convert the VF cursor to Recordset. I don't konw the type of Recordset field converted from VF Memo using VFPCOM .However, CR XI got a field mapping dialog when I preview the report. But I cannot find the correct field in the dialog.

When you look at Database|Database Expert and choose the links tab, are the two .ttx files linked successfully?
You mention that there is a field in the main table that may not exist in the second one. Is that causing a linking issue?
The most common issue is the ADO recordset does not match the structure created in the .ttx.
There is a dll that will allow you to create a .ttx file from each recordset exactly as Crystal Reports will see it using the "CreateFieldDefFile" function. Search your Crystal Reports XI R1 (11.0) CD for the file "p2smon.dll". It will not install automatically but you can copy it into your System32 directory and use the functionality. e.g. "C:\Windows\system32"
It was designed for Visual Basic so the code used there is:
Public adoRs1 As New ADODB.Recordset
If CreateFieldDefFile(adoRs1, App.Path & "\ado.ttx", True) <> 0 Then
MsgBox "Field definition successfully created"
Else
MsgBox "Failed to create field definition file"
End If
If you cannot complete this step, I suggest opening a SAP Support incident and an engineer could so this step for you using your ado recordset saved as an ADO file.
Again in Visual Basic:
adoRs1.save "C:\Temp\adoRS1.ttx"
adoRs2.save "C:\Temp\adoRS2.ttx"
Then the two created .ttx files can be tested in the report to see if they can be linked and verified.

I have a problem in getting a report run on my machine..
I have a report that uses XML-dataSource to read info stored in xml file, I use XPath query to traverse xml nodes,
I have JBoss Server installed but the problem is that I want to know how to configure JBoss and tell it where to look for the xml file so the report can produce right information.
I use Windows XP and JBoss 4.23 and I finished the report using i-report 2.0.2

Error in viewing data in a data template with multiple data sources

CrystalReports error in XI 3.1 with Oracle Data Source

Having trouble running Crystal Reports with Oracle data source off XI 3.1 SP3. Reports hang through CMC or InfoView. Have no trouble on identical environment (presumably) with the same reports. Basically this happened after migration.
Report can be run on designer on the server box (suggesting the connection is good) however once uploaded to CMS, it hangs with error. This is not about an specific report only reports with Oracle Data source (Oracle client already installed and connection established)
Any comments appreciated.

Report with two Command is empty if one of the two commands returns no data

Hi all,
I have a report with two Commands not linked together.
If ONLY one of the two Commands returns no data, the full report is empty (although the other Command returns data).
I'm using Crystal Report 2008 and the CRJ 12.2.205

How to create a report using XML data source from Crystal Report Designer

Hi,
Iu2019m having Crystal Report Designer XI R2 SP4. Iu2019m trying to create a report using XML data source stored on disk. This is a customer order report and the xml is structured in such a way that it has an order details header part (master) and then it has several order lines (detail). One order line can have several order line characteristics (detail-detail). So what I need to know is now I can design this layout from the designer. If this was done using views I can do it with sub-reports but using xml data this seems to be different. Can you help me to design this layout? I have included the xml and xsd as well.

Thank you for the response and ideas you have given me so far. I can get the fetch the data from the data source without any problem. That is I do the following,
1.     New Report
2.     From Create New Connection-> XML
3.     Provide the u201CLocal XML Fileu201D and have u201CSpecify Schema Fileu201D checked -> Next
4.     Provide the u201CLocal Schema Fileu201D -> Finish
Then I can see the following under XML

        CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP_REQUEST
     CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP_REQUEST/CUSTOMER_ORDER_CONF_REP

Then I come to the Linking section. Here I canu2019t link anything. There is a common field called u201CInternal_IDu201D but I canu2019t link using it. So I get a message when I click Next. From here I add all the fields.
For this point onwards only I need help. How do I group, add fields and design the layout so I can get an report output as follows.

How can I achieve this kind of a layout using the give xml and xsd? Should I use grouping if so how should I do the grouping?
