ReportDocument.Load() is extremely slow.. What does it do?

We are having issues with reports taking an extremely long time to load at customer sites.  We have isolated the issue down to the Load() method of the ReportDocument.  On some machines this takes a split second and on others, using the same report, same system, and same data it takes 25 - 40 seconds per Load() call.  We are having issues isolating what is causing the disparity between computers.
What steps does the Load method take to fully load the report?
For example, does it query the printer?  Does it query for database access?  Does it attempt to verify the database?  Our reports are designed in-house and sent to the customer.  We report the connection and the printer after the load().  So, the printer and database do not exist at the customer's site.
We are using .NET 4.0, Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 Support Pack 1.  The 32-bit runtime is deployed at our customer sites.  The reports have been loaded from a local C:\ drive and from a network share with no difference in performance.  We have disabled virus scanning, and all other services that may be running.  The issue occurs on Windows 2008 64-bit and Windows 7 32-bit.  We have looked at previous existing threads on the forum, and tried to make all the required changes to the reports - no specific printer, updating the database, no saved data, etc.
It is a huge performance difference.  Running five reports based off a single piece of data on some systems takes 5 seconds.  On these machines it is taking almost four minutes.  Obviously the customers are very unhappy.
Thanks for the help on isolating and solving this issue.

Don,
I was able to trace using crpe32 and got the .glf file created. It is pretty huge. I did the search for Load and found the hit:

I am not able to locate the end of the load document process ? What will be logged to signify the end of the load has occurred ?
I searched for "End Load" etc..but no hits were found. Is there a way, I can send this glf to you to help us understand what the ReportDocument.Load is doing. I do see that the server "localhost" is being used.
Please advise,
Thanks,
Amit

  • Preview loading is extremely slow in camera roll

    Hi All,
    I updated my ipad to 8.1. After that, preview loading is extremely slow in the camera roll. If I try to scroll between the photos in the camera roll, it took 4 to 5 seconds to move from one image to another image. This happens after the my ipad has been updated  to 8.1
    Is there any solution for this.

  • ReportDocument.Load is To Slow

    Hi,
    I developed a C#.net (VS2008) software that show a report.
    The method Load is too slow when i called it for show data from a database different other then development database .
    Can you help me??
    Thank
    The my source code is
    string sNomeReport=@"c:\temp\report1.rpt":
    reportDocument1.Load(sNomeReport);  //////INSTRACTION BIG SLOW. BECAUSE?????
    ConnectionInfo crConnectioninfo = new ConnectionInfo();
    //pass the necessary parameters to the connectionInfo object
    crConnectioninfo.ServerName = _sServerName;
    crConnectioninfo.UserID = _sUserID;
    crConnectioninfo.Password = _sPwd;
    crConnectioninfo.DatabaseName = _sDatabase;
    foreach( CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table tbCurrent in _rpt.Database.Tables)
         crTableLogOnInfo = tbCurrent.LogOnInfo;
         crTableLogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = crConnectioninfo;
         tbCurrent.ApplyLogOnInfo(crTableLogOnInfo);

    Hi,
    This is due to the fact that Crystal Reports is looking for your development database, if this database is not available it will take a long time when performing ReportDocument.Load("Path")
    What you can do, is change the datasource in your Crystal Reports to the correct production database. This way the lookup, Crystal Reports will perform when loading the report, will be much faster. This is the best and fastest fix.
    If you cannot do the action above, you should change the Verify on First Refresh to unchecked, this will also improve the performance. The Verify on First Refresh can be changed using the Crystal Reports development, under File -> Report Options.
    Hope this helps.
    Kind regards,

  • Safari is loading webpages extremely slow and not loading images...

    Not loading webpages a lot of the time and not loading images on sites such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. I'm new to Mac and I'm running Safari on a Mac Mini. Help? Also deleted ~/Libraries/Safari and it didn't work.

    Please answer as many of the following questions as you can.
    1. Have you restarted your router and broadband modem since you first noticed the problem? If the answer is no, do that now and see whether there's any change.
    2. Are any other web browsers installed, and are they also slow?
    3. What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
    4. Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they also slow?
    5. If you can test Safari on another network, is it slow there too?
    6. If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

  • Forum load time extremely slow

    Hi,
    One of my biggest concerns with the forum is that it takes really long time to load a web page!!! I visit various forums everyday, and even with a lot more ads and scripts and applets, they load much faster than this forum. It puzzles me what is so complex about this forum that it requires so much time to load a page. I've tried browsing here on Internet Explorer 6, Opera 9.62 and Google Chrome and it is slow on ALL of them! This is a serious concern, and should be taken care of ASAP.
    Also, the graphical editor of posts is a little buggy on Opera, which i mainly use. So hopefully it can be taken care of in the future. and the addition of a 'Quick Reply' option like in other forums will be much appreciated.

  • Why is my 3-month old macbook pro running extremely slow after doing an update (mac osx-update 10.7.4)?

    Hi..
    Try disabling the Lion resume feature. That may help the long startup problem.
    Open System Preferences > General
    Deselect:  Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps
    And delete any items in Sytem Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items
    And check  /Library/StartupItems
    If nothing above has helped, the startup disk may need repairing.
    Use Lion Recovery

  • Extremely slow performance with NEW hdd

    Ok guys, this is pretty frustrating. Today I bought 2 new external hdd's, same manufacturer, same model. One of them seems to work great, but the other one.. well  look at this:
    /dev/sdk1:
    Timing buffered disk reads: 96 MB in 3.04 seconds = 31.53 MB/sec
    bash-3.2# hdparm -t /dev/sdj1
    /dev/sdj1:
    Timing buffered disk reads: 4 MB in 4.30 seconds = 951.52 kB/sec
    As you can see, my sdj is extremely slow - what could possibly be wrong here?

  • Subscribed calendars - iPhone calendar gets extremly slow.

    Hi, I tried to use subscribed calendars on iPhone. Due to the fact that there is still no brithday calendar implemented on iPhone I had to add several calendards:
    1: brithday calendar - I published the iCal birthday calendar to mobile me.
    2: calendar week - as there is still no ISO calendar week on iPhones CalApp I subscribed for a calendar with whole day events on every monday - showing the week number.
    3: a friends calendar - A standard Google calendar
    With these three subscriptions, my MobileMe calendar and my ActiveSync the CalApp on iPhone gets extremely slow. Does anybody else does have the same problems. Having a limit with not more than two subscribed calendars, app speed is slow but acceptable. Having just one subscribed calendar we can speak about normal behavior.

    You could reduce to 2 subscribed feeds by using a ISO calendar that is merged into an existing calendar in your .mac account instead of as a subscribed feed. Those numbered weeks aren't going to change, so why not just make permanent? I did the same thing in my Google calendar.
    I have subscribed to 5 calendar feeds in iPhone 3.0 and have no speed performance issues. However, the calendar app only displays information for one of the subscribed feeds! I cannot get the other feeds to work. I have tried installing each one before and after the one working feed, but still they do not work. All the feeds work in iCal on my computer.
    The 4 feeds that are not working properly on the iPhone are schedules to my favorite MLB, NFL and college teams from Yahoo! Sports. I want subscribed feeds because game times and t.v. listings change from week to week.
    This is disappointing because subscribed calendar feeds was the major improvement I wanted to see in 3.0.

  • Mavericks is extremely slow. NetFlix used to stream just fine until I loaded the "upgrade." What is the problem with this OS?

    Mavericks is extremely slow. NetFlix used to stream just fine until I got the "upgrade." Everything is slower now, and I have plenty of RAM. Any insights?

    Hello Sunny James,
    I would be concerned too if my iMac was running slowly after upgrading to Mavericks.  I found a couple of articles I recommend to help isolate and troubleshoot this issue.
    I recommend reviewing this article first for possible causes of the slowness:
    OS X Mavericks: If your Mac runs slowly

    You can further isolate the issue by determining if it is only happening in your user account or if it is happening system-wide:

  • Ever since my upgrade to lion 10.7.3, and iCloud, my macbook is running extremely slow. What can I do? It doesn't seem like my contacts are pushing through to the computer from iPhone.

    Ever since my upgrade to lion 10.7.3, and iCloud, my macbook is running extremely slow. What can I do? It doesn't seem like my contacts are pushing through to the computer from iPhone.

    Then your basic issues are: too little RAM, incompatible software, dysfunctional installation.
    Add more RAM or kill as many programs that you use until the computer is running normally.
    See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps. Upgrade any old software.
    Reinstall OS X:
    Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
    Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
    When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list.  Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
    Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
    Alternatively, see:
    Reinstall OS X Without Erasing the Drive
    Choose the version you have installed now:
    OS X Yosemite- Reinstall OS X
    OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
    OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
    OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
         Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
                     if possible because it isthree times faster than wireless.
