Reporting on Degenerate Dimension without using aggregation

Hi Gurus,
I have 2 fact tables F1 and F2 and a conformed dimension D. Both the fact tables contains degenerate dimensions.
So I have created degenerated dimesnion in BMM layer DDF1 and DDF2 corresponding to F1 and F2 resp.
I want to generate report using DDF1, DDF2 and D without using any column from F1 or F2(basically I dont need any aggregation in my reports, but more than 1 fact table is used).
But I receive error while trying to implement this. I have created the dimensions and defined content mappings for the fact tables.
I had followed the steps given at [http://www.rittmanmead.com/2010/01/oracle-bi-ee-10-1-3-4-1-modeling-degenerate-dimensions-fact-attributes/]
Does this type of reporting without using aggregation possible in OBIEE?
Thanks in advance.

If you want it in pivot view it is not possible for ad-hoc to give it to end-users without measure columns.
You can do this in table view for only dimension columns wihtout measures easily possible.
If you want the look of pivot and same as results of pivot in your table view then you follow this blog
http://gerardnico.com/wiki/dat/obiee/table_to_pivot
UPDATE POST
the rittman blog mentioned follow that properly every step is given correctly, according to me your doing mistake at degenerate dimensions or conformed dimensions...that is why the error is throwing on the fact column that you are using. Please setup once again each and every step correctly you will achieve it.
Cheers,
KK

  • How open a report with Viewer 2008 without using Visual Studio and Java

    Hi,
There is a way to open a report (with parameters) save in a web server with Crystal Report Viewer 2008 without using Visual Studio or Java ?
I've an asp page and i want to open this report using some command (I know asp, vbscript and html)
In the past it was very easy because we use CR 9, but now it's already many days im looking for a solution but seem impossible.
I know the craxdrt.dll is not included with Crystal Reports 2008.
It seem me i can use OpenDocument, but i'm not sure. Someone has some easy example to help me ?
Remember i have only Crystal report viewer 2008 on the server and on the clients.
    Thanks in advance

If you are looking to create a web application or view report through a web server using only Crystal Reports then you do have to either use Java, or .NET.
If you have Crystal Reports server or Business Objects Enterprise you can use OpenDocument to view managed reports but this does require one of our server products.

  • Can I create a dynamic report in the server without using a report template

    Hi,
My company just bought a Crystal Report Server XI and it didn't have a report designer.
I can't start creating report without the designer.
The question is can  I generate a dynamic report at runtime (on the crystal report server ) without using report template?
My project requirement is to use a crystal report server to manage the reports.
Some client web application will just access this report server.
I  hope the experts can provide me some guidance.

    Hi Rulix,
The latest version of CR Server is 2008. Therefore I'm assuming you are using CR Server 2008.
New in CR 2008 is the .NET report modification software development kit (SDK). The report application server (RAS) SDK is now available for users of Crystal Reports .NET API without the use of a RAS server. Report modification such as changing, adding, or removing database providers, or adding, removing, or creating report objects, parameters, formulas, and sections can be achieved by accessing the RAS SDK through the Crystal Reports .NET SDK.
Java developers however receive the JRC and Java SDK documentation through the free Crystal Reports for Eclipse download. This product will be updated on a separate schedule from Crystal Reports.
Further Information and samples are available in our [Developer Library|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/businessobjects?rid=/webcontent/uuid/5001d5de-f867-2b10-00bf-8d27683c85a0]

  • Loading Dimension without using Adapters

    Hi,
Without using adapter(HAL & DIM), there is any way to load the dimensions in Hyperion 9.3.1. In Hyperion 11.1.1, we have Outlineload utility to load the dimension, like that any utility is available for hyperion 9.3.1.
    Thanks,
    Lakshmi

    Hi,
There is Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) with all its connection adapters. Check John Goodwin's blog for the in-depth reference.
If you are going to deal with EPMA though, you can use EPMA file generator to generate dimension load files which can directly be fed into EPMA.

  • Selecting Multiple dimensions without using Dashboard Prompt

    Hi All,
We have and requirement where we need to given an option to users where they should be able to select dimensions values to check set of reports in dashboard based on these selected values.
As we know one way is to have dashboard prompt and all the reports which we need to analyze under this, but in dashboard prompt if we more values selected values will take more time.
Instead we want in one page all the dimension values will be there and we need some thing like check box option in front of dimension values and based on the dimension values selection, we need to analyze reports available in another dashboard page.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Som

    Thanks John for your reply.
I'm not sure this is going to help me, may be my question is little bit confusing. Let me explain with some example.
Lets us consider a dashboard page where we have All US States as global filter. Suppose by default global filter will have All values but now every time we want to analyze by selected states now to perform this we need to edit global filter and add States by which we want to analyze.
By this option we are able to get the result what we want, but problem is that suppose every time we want to analyze by these states only the every time when we login we need to edit global filter again and again. which we don't want to do again and again.
    Now my questions are:-
    1. Is there a way to save values selected into global filter for future use by which we cab avoid selecting values again and again (one way is that we can add defaults in global filter edit mode but can we do this outside.)
    2. Or can we provide in one page just to select the values of analysis like dimensions and next to dimension like check box just to select values and in other pages based of the values selected.

  • Opportunity report on expected revenue without using Forecasting

    Hi guys,
My colleague has the following question regarding Reports:
I want to create a report on opportunities. A requirement is that it should contain the years with the amounts of when the expected turnover is going to fall.
    For instance:
Opportunity with a contract term of 36 months.
    Expected revenue is 36.000.
We're in month 6 now, so I want to have a column over the current year (2009) with the remaining expected revenue.
    So 6 (months left) = 6/36 of 36000 = 6000 .
    A new column with 2010 beside that: 12/36 of 36000 = 12000
    Another column with 2011 beside that: 12/36 of 36000 = 12000
    Another column with 2012 beside that: 6/36 of 36000 = 6000
Could someone help him out with this one?
    Many thanks!

  • Using a set from one dimension to filter a set on another dimension without using the slicer

I have a complex mdx query.  In one step within this I want to restrict the members of one set to those that have data in the cells defined by this first set and a second set on a different dimension.  It is not the values in those intersection
cells I want to end up with but just the restricted members of the first set.  I am then going to cross join this with the 'All' member of the second set.  The point of doing this is that the results can be joined with a union query to other results
    with the same dimensionality.
I get what I want, in simplified way, from the following:
    with set x as filter([Org].[Dept].[Dept].members,
    [Proj].[ProjHierarchy].[Proj].&[100028])
select [Measures].[Finance] on columns, x on rows from projects
This shows the total finance for each dept member that has any finance against the specified project.  However, this won't do as what is supplied to the mdx is a string parameter that is converted to a list of members using StrToSet and the MDX above won't
accept this.  I do not wish to use the slicer because of the complex overall MDX structure.  Is there any way to make something like the above work?

    Hi Kenneth
does this set have the required dimensionality? :
    extract(
    nonempty(
    ( [Org].[Dept].[Dept].members
    , [Proj].[ProjHierarchy].[Proj].&[100028])
    , [Measures].[Finance])
    ,[Org].[Dept] )
I'm not sure about the hierachy on the last line. Maybe:   [Org].[Dept].[Dept]

  • How do you create an array without using a shell on the FP?

I want to be able to read the status of front panel controls (value, control box selection, etc.) and save it to a file, as a "configuration" file -- then be able to load it and have all the controls set to the same states as were saved in the file. I was thinking an array would be a way to do this, as I have done that in VB. (Saving it as a text file, then reading lines back into the array when the file is read and point the control(s) values/states to the corresponding array element.
So how do I create an array of X dimensions without using a shell on the front panel? Or can someone suggest a better way to accomplish what I am after? (Datalogging doesn't allow for saving the status by a filename, so I
do not want to go that route.)

Thanks so much m3nth! This definitely looks like what I was wanting... just not really knowing how to get there.
I'm not sure I follow all the icons. Is that an array (top left with 0 constant) in the top example? And if so, that gets back to part of my original question of how to create an array without using a shell on the FP. Do I follow your diagram correctly?
If I seem a tad green... well I am.
I hope you understand the LabVIEW environment and icons are still very new to me.
Also, I had a response from an NI app. engineer about this problem. He sent me a couple of VI's that he threw together approaching this by using Keys. (I still think you are pointing to the best solution.) I assume he wouldn't mind m
e posting his reply and the VI's for the sake of a good, thorough, Roundtable discussion. So here are his comments with VI's attached:
"I was implementing this exact functionality this morning for an application I'm working on. I only have five controls I want to save, but they are all of different data types. I simply wrote a key for each control, and read back that key on initialization. I simply passed in property node values to the save VI at the end, and passed the values out to property nodes at
the beginning. I've attached my initialize and save VI's for you to view. If you have so many controls that this would not be feasible, you may want to look into clustering the controls and saving the cluster as a datalog file.

  • How can I modify column width in a spreadsheet report without using an Excel template

I currently use the LabVIEW Report Generation toolkit in LabVIEW 2011SP1 to create simple spreadsheet reports that I can build/print without having Microsoft Office products installed.  I really like being able to do this, and it allows me to generate nice on-demand data reports - I'm also not tied to having Office installed on the system I'm using, so this works on just about any test fixture I can install the software on.
I recently have a requirement that I must have variable-length columns in my report.  I currently use the VI "Append Text Table to Report" in order to create a text table, but the column width requirement is that all columns must be equal width UNLESS I use an Excel Template file to define my column widths.
    My questions are:
Is it possible to create a text table and define per-column widths without using an Excel Template?  If so, how?  My report mainly has a lot of small numerical values for the columns, but some columns contain system names or status messages - I really hate the longer text blocks wrapping and taking up so much real-estate when if I could control the column widths I can get all my data on a single line.
I'll admit I haven't tried this myself yet, but if I use an Excel Template will that require me to have Excel installed on the PC in order to print/generate reports?
Is there a recommended way (with an example) of generating a text table in a report with or without using the "Append Text Table to Report" VI that allows me to have custom column widths that doesn't require me to manually build a custom print page?  If I do have to create a custom print page, what would be the most straightforward approach?
    Thanks!
    -Danny

Sure, I'll provide a pared down example that demonstrates my use-case:
I have a control to the VI that takes in a 2D array of strings representing the data I want printed in a table.  I am generating a standard report, adding a table to the report, and printing it.  The first VI is "New Report.vi", the second VI is "Append Table to Report.vi", and the third is "Print Report.vi", all found standard in the Report Generation palette.
Note that the "Append Table to Report.vi" has an input parameter "Column Width" with a default value of (1).  This input parameter is a single input parameter, which defines the column widths of ALL the columns in my table - hence, with the VI the way it is, all my columns will be 1 inch wide.
I find myself needing to be able to define per-column widths, not just a single global column width parameter.
The only way I have found to do this is by using an Excel template file.  The "New Report.vi" takes in a "template" parameter, and if used, the report generation toolkit can be set to ignore the "Column Width" input parameter on the "Append Table to Report.vi" by setting the width value to -1.  Instead it will launch Excel, open the template file provided, build the table using the template, will close Excel, and will attach the generated table to the report.  However, I have a strict requirement that Microsoft Office NOT be required to be installed on the computer.
So, without using Excel, is there a way to generate a table in a report and define the width of each column individually?
    -Danny

  • Xml report output in excel format without using options tab in EBS

How to get xml publisher report output in excel format without using options tab in EBS?
I am getting XML Publisher report output in excel format by using options tab while submitting the concurrent request .
But i want to get excel output automatically.
Can anyone give idea to get XML publisher Report output in excel without selecting options tab.
    Thanks in advance
    Sandeep V

    Hey Sandeep,
I am working on a similar format for a report and if possible can you please give me some guidelines. I have initially created reports using XML Publisher, but for those , the output preview format was PDF. So, if I select the preview format as EXCEL will it give me output in Excel and for this to happen, how do I define the rtf template. I believe the working will be same as for PDF, create a rdf report, get output in XML and apply the template to get the data in Excel or there is something different to this.
    Thanks,
    Sunil

  • CREATE XML PUBLISHER REPORT WITHOUT USING RDF

    Hi Every one ,
Can anybody share his/her expertise on following issue ?
"How to create XML Publisher Report without using RDF?"
    Your help is appreciated.

    Hi Swapnesh
YOu do not need to create the XDODTEXE, its seeded for you. You need to do the following:
    1. Create and test the data template
    2. Load the data template to the template manager against a data definition
    3. Create a concurrent program definition that uses the XDODTEXE as its executable
    4. Create parameters (if required) for the CP and DT that match in name
    You're done
