Reporting Options in Oracel ADF BC Application

Hi everyone,
I need to understand what are various options I could use to provide some reports in ADF BC application. Integrating Crystal Reports in one of the options which sounds complicated, but is there any other easier way to generate simple reports for an application based on Jdeveloper.

I just went through Crystal Report Doc(from BO website) which talks about integrating crystal report using Crystal APIs. Since they provide integrated solution for Eclipse, I was hoping for similar thing for Jdeveloper but no luck.
For some IDE like Jdeveloper, it essentially tells (in my understanding) to import all relevent crystal .jar files in your application and use these classes to open an existing .rpt file in the browser. It requires detail knowledge of all Cyrstal APIs and its use.
The solution you suggested, will have problem with saving the printable document e.g pdf format.
right?

What about security in adf faces application ?

It seem that the documentation has a little bit changed about security for adf faces application.
SRDemo J2EE sample application only implemented the security at the web container and may be for the session beans (don't remember) by using security-role and security-constraint in web.xml configuration file.
It seem that the documentation recommand now to implement adf security and didn't find anymore the reference to the standard j2ee security implementation.
We found also that the security constraints checked by the web container was sometimes ignored and the container didn't ask us to login before displaying a page.
Is ADF security a clear Oracle recommandation for ADF Faces application ?
What about j2ee security for this type of application (why it is not recommended to use it) ?

Hi,
there is no single recommedation about security because security ideally is applied on several levels to implement security in depth. Container managed security with J2EE is a good option to secure page access and - if using EJB - to propagate the user identity for method level access control.
Using ADF Security, which is security added to the binding layer based on JAAS, a second layer of the security onion becomes available that allows you to define which user is allowed to perform which operation on an iterator or attribute binding. This goes beyond of what container managed security can do for you.
The thrid layer is business layer security and eventually database security.
For Oracle Open World we will have a developmengt track and one of the presentation I am giving with Ric Smith from our team is about end-to-end application security for ADF Faces, ADF, ADF BCor TopLink/EJB and the Oracle database.
The plan is to also write this up in a paper, but this would come late because of other priorities I have on my plate. So attending OOW probably is the best option for you to get the big picture

Issues in ADF mobile application using Trinidad components

I am facing the following issues when developing a mobile application using trinidad components :
Jdev version : 11.1.1.6
1) I dont see a date component using trinidad components? The dev guide http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/web.1111/e10140/sup_comp.htm says that tr:inputDate is supported but when i try to drag a data field to jsf page i don't see an option for Trinidad date component. so i went ahead and created an af:inputDate in the page. But the date selection dialog doesnt open up.
2) i tried using 'Rendered' for conditional rendering of a component but it does not work or refresh immediately, the same problem is solved in my adf application using visible property but looks like there is no 'Visible' property for Trinidad components. any work around?
3) i wanted to have a 'create insert' call in my task flow before launching the page. Since Task flows are not supported in ADF mobile application, i have added 'ADF Faces' also into my project and created task flow and jsff page as i do for a adf web application the only diff being the usage of trinidad components in my jsff page. is this fine? Also can we mix trinidad components and adf components into the same page?
4) I have a tr:inputText on a clob input text field which i am updating in ADF page using a clob converter class. Same thing i cannot do for trinidad text as it is resulting in null pointer exception. any solution to update clob fields into database which uses tr:inputText compents.
Help to solve any one of the above issues (by quoting serial no) would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Im using Crystal report plug in for Eclipse.
I want to export report to PDF, EXCEl etc...
for that there is Export report option.
I want to customize that export report dialog box.
How can I do that?
I want to set default path to export file.
default extention etc.
want to remove some options like export to rpt...

Which reports are you using?( Crystal Report, Webi or Deski) with exact version of it.
If the reports are running properly from the designer and you are having issue with application or in coding then you can post this question to BO Java SDK Application (Java Development) forum for better assistance.

Hi,
there will be a developer guide out soon. Its written by Steve Muench and provides an indepth walk-through ADF BC.
To answer your question, custom code is written in Java files on the ApplicationModule, ViewObject and EntityObject level. If you go to the Editor of each of these components there is an option for you to create Impl.java and RowImpl.java files. The first is for generic business logic, the latter for row based logic

Interactive report - unable to disable save report option

Hi,
I am using an interactive report and unable to disable "Save Report" option... Although the option is unchecked under "Include in Actions Menu" section... Others' are working fine, I just can't disable "Save Report" option...

When you are logged in as both a Developer and End User, you will ALWAYS see the Save button, even if it is disabled. This is so that you can save the Defaults for an IR. Thus, if you click on the save option, you should only see one item - Save Report Defaults. You will not be able to save a custom report.
Your end-users are not logged in as developers, and thus, won't see any save icon at all. In fact - if you log out of APEX and run just your application, neither will you.

HFM icons,explore option and Financial Reporting option missing from Workspace 11.1.2.1

Hi,
We finished installing and configuring hyperion 11.1.2.1. We noticed unusual behavior in Workspace, All the HFM icons are missing from the menu , it is showing some hfm path. Explore option and financial reporting options are also missing from the Preferences and workspace. Can you please advice what could be causing this issue ?

Thanks for the reply. Actually i tried to login to HFM client but it says application not registered. So when i tried to register it from workspace, it gives error. I have already configured all the components but i didn't reconfigure Foundation web server after every component. Is it okay if i do it now when all the components are already configured ? Or do you suggest reconfiguring all the components again followed by Foundation web server ?
Also do you think it will help me get explore option in the workspace ?

Set Report options on user interface launch

Is there a way to set the Report Options dynamically when the Operator Interface launches? Using CVI 8.5.
For example if user select HTML report then Sequence for Select a Reprot Generator for Producing the Report Body should be selected. Result Filtering to be set to All Results and Include Limits and Measurement checked.

Hello lvrat,
If you want this to happen each time the Operator Interface launches, you can place a sequence call in "FrontEndCallbacks.seq" to run "Configure Report Options" from the process model. This will essentially call "ModelSupport.seq" which runs modelsupport2.dll. This is exactly what happens when you click Configure->Report Options... from a TestStand Development System.
Note: FrontEndCallbacks.seq runs at the start of the Operator Interface and at the exit of the Operator Interface because it handles Login & Logout. You will need to prevent it from running this "Configure Report Options" sequence call at Logout by setting the Precondition to "!Parameters.logout". Also, If your Login step has a Post Action to "Goto step" -> "<EndGroup>", you must set the Post Action to "Goto Next Step".

Saved Interactive reports options display for all users

Hello,
For now I build once again my apex apllications in Apex 4.0
I created a user. In the apex administration this user is not an administrator and not a developper either.
However the saved interactive report options display for him too, so he can choose the look of the default report, etc...
Is that a bug ?? Or did I forget something ?

Fanny, as long as you are logged in as a developer in apex you will be able to save the report as the standard report, no matter with what user you are logged into your application.

Report parameter form in ADF/JHS

I am looking for the best way to develop a ADF page (with or without JHS) similiar to the Headstart report parameter form in Oracle Forms. I found a dynamic parameter form example on Steve Meunch's "Not Yet documented ADF Sample Applications", #93 that seems ideal. Has anyone implemented this approach using the existing Headstart tables? How were the LOV queries handled?

Selenium to test ADF UI Application

I've created an ADF UI application and am running it from within JDeveloper.
My default browser is Firefox 2.x.
I've installed Selenium IDE and am recording my UI interactions using it.
When I playback what I've recorded, Selenium is not able to find an ADF component (command link) that it found earlier.
And I get the following error on the Selenium Server:
Got result: ERROR: Element mainView:regionHouston:j_id___jsp_tag_ctru3i3:0_3:populateGridLink not found on session 316687.

I've the testId attribute set for the component I'm interested in.
I've enabled the Auto Generate testId attribute option.
I've modified the web.xml to include the lines you mentioned above.
I've cleared my browser cache.
Rebuilt the application within JDeveloper.
But still I'm not able to see my ADF component with the id in my Page source. The component is there but without either the id or the testId attribute(s). Hence Selenium is not able to locate that component when it plays back the test and is not able to move to the next step.
Could there be a problem with the JDeveloper version that I have. I've the JDeveloper Studio Version 11.1.1.0.0 Build JDEVADF_MAIN.1JAVA_GENERIC_070504.2249.4524.

Problem with "find" mode in adf/swing application

I'm working on ADF Swing application which uses MS SQL Server 2005 (JDeveloper 10g 10.1.3)
I think that my issue might be well-known…sorry if it has been already discussed somewhere else…
I have a problem with the “find” mode for a detail panel in a master-detail form…(To make it clear the “find” mode is switched on when clicking on the special button on a navigation panel).
So this mode works well in a master panel, but it demonstrates strange behavior on a detail panel, i.e. it takes me two attempts to find the necessary child object and it doesn’t switch back in a simple way from this mode to the normal mode….say if we are in the department 10 (Dept is a master form) we can’t simply find KING employee (Emp is a detail form)…is there any workaround for this?

Maintaining different sessions in browser tabs in ADF 11g application

I have a simple ADF 11g application which uses ADF BC 11g.
I want to maintain different sessions between the tabs in the same browser.
Currently it is messing up with session variables. Please reply to me ASAP.

Assuming you are having problems because of the usage of JSF Session scope beans, then the answer is to use pageFlowScope for that set of data - then it is not shared between tabs.

How to deploy a secured ADF 11g application to WebLogic 10.3 server?

I have just enabled security in our ADF 11g application, as descripbed in [chapter 29|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b31974/adding_security.htm#insertedID0] of the Fusion Developer's Guide. It works fine in the embedded WebLogic server of JDeveloper.
Now I'm trying to deploy to our WebLogic 10.3 server, which runs in production mode. I'm running into all sorts of problems. The WebLogic console seems to have hundreds of security related pages, I don't know which one I should use, let alone how to use it. The Fusion Developer's Guide doesn't cover deployment to a production server:

The blog post refers to an article by Steve Muench, called [Simplified ADF 11g Application Credential and Policy Migration to Standalone WebLogic Servers|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/muench/credmig111100/index.html]. This article presents an Ant script that migrates policies from JDeveloper to WebLogic, using some PFM. (See the last definition here.)
The problem is that Steve Muench's script assumes that JDeveloper and the standalone WebLogic are on the same machine. However, in a typical environment, such as the one I'm working in currently, this is not the case. In our case the developer stations are Windows machines, while our WebLogic server runs on a HP-UX machine. So the question is: how to perform this migration between two machines with different operating systems?

ADF BC in ADF Swing application(global datasource connection)

Hi all!
I have ADF-Swing based application.
I have a standalone Weblogic server and global datasource (for example, name of datasource hrGlobal)
I want to use this datasource(hrGlobal) in my application module. All my entities and views must connect into the database, using this datasource.
The question is, how can I declare this remote connection in connections.xml, for using him in Application Module?
In forum or in documentation a can't find the answer for this question. So, any help is welcome:)

So, I had deployed application on WLS. Ear size is 95 MB with folder adfjars, that includes many jar libraries.
Now I'm trying to run WebStart file, but get an error "com.sun.deploy.net.JARSigningException: Found unsigned entry in resource: http://myurl:myport/testWebStart/adfjars/xmlparserv2.jar".
Can you help me, please?
And the 2-d question is about libraries in folder "adfjars": Can I share this libraries on WLS, than not to deploy each time in Ear archive?
