Reports 6i security and Webdb 2.2

Trying to setup WebDB security for Reports Server 6i I have the following problems:
1. When run Report Access WebDB component from WebDB site Reports, CGI asks for system authorization (I already connected to WebDB, why to connect again?).
2. After I authorize myself again I get error in browser:
Error: The requested URL was not found, or cannot be served at this time.
Oracle Reports Server CGI - Unable to communicate with the Reports Server.
I read everything I could find on Metalink and OTN about these problems and followed all the recommendations but the errors still occur.
Our Config:
OS: Win 2000
8i and Apache are installed to c:\ora8i,
Developer 6i (+Patch 1) and Webdb 2.2.0.5 are installed to c:\orant.
both ora_homes have the same tnsnames and sqlnet (We have both network and net80 directories in both ORA_HOMEs):

I run reports through command file C:\orant\TOOLS\web60\cgi\rwcgiw.cmd:
set ORCookieDomain=mycompany.ru
set ORACLE_HOME=C:\orant
set TNS_ADMIN=C:\orant\network\admin
C:\orant\TOOLS\web60\cgi\RWCGI60.EXE
I run Webdb through C:\ora8i\Apache\Apache\cgi-bin\wdbcgiw.cmd
set ORCookieDomain=mycompany.ru
set ORACLE_HOME=C:\orant
set WV_GATEWAY_CFG=C:\orant\listener\cfg\wdbsvr.app
set TNS_ADMIN=C:\orant\network\admin
C:\ora8i\Apache\Apache\cgi-bin\wdbcgi.exe
I set up Report Server Acces in WebDB:
Report Server Name: my_rep_server
TNS: my_rep_server.world
URL: http://myhost.mycompany.ru:80/dev60cgi/rwcgiw.cmd?
Run only registered...: Yes
User and roles... all needed grants are done.
Also I set up Report Access:
Owner: Myname
Report name: CUSTOMERCONTRACTCARD
Server: my_rep_server
File: customercontractcard.rdf (resides in c:\reports)
All needed grants are done.
The report webdb component is added to webdb site.
When I run report as webdb component it issues the following URL:
http://myhost.mycompany.ru/dev60cgi/rwcgiw.cmd?server=my_rep_server.world+report=customercontractcard.rdf+destype=Cache+desformat=HTML+webdb=true+wwvrw_log_id_=AAAGYEAADAAAB41AAb+wwvrw_stime_=229412
system auth page appears, and after i enter proper username and password the error "Unable to communicate with the Reports Server" appears.
this URL works fine if I add to the end of it "+authid=sysusername/password", the same I tried to enter to system auth page.
If I run URL directly using key from cgicmd.dat it runs fine:
http://myhost.mycompany.ru/dev60cgi/rwcgiw.cmd?prod+customercontractcard.rdf
So is it really possible in our config to share cookies among Webdb and Reports and to run Reports Requests as Webdb component?

  • I have tried to update and it reports a security and stability update is available but says I do not have permission. I do not know what to do

Okay, I hit "help" and then updates which it reports there is one but I do not have permission to install it. I am at a loss as what to do

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded

    Hi Matt,
You didn't mention but do you also wish to install the database(8i) on the same machine ?
I am also trying to install all these products(+8i and designer 6i) on the same box but I am concerned more about the min. resources needed before I get started.(I put up a question about it on the 6i Forum, but nobody has answered yet !)
The correct install order should be Forms/Reports 6i then Forms/Reports 6i Server and then WebDb 2.2.
Forms /reports server needs a http listener and installs en configures the WebDb listener for the job.(you are prompted for this during tho have the install process). This is handy if you are intending to use WebDb anyway. When you install Webdb it detects the already installed WebDb listener and does not reinstall.
You do have the SYS password on the database you will use to stored the WDK and WebDb schema.
    About installing the demo.....
I dont' think there are any special issues.I have never done it.
If you are intending to install an 8i database on the same box there are some important things to consider with respect to the install order and what products in which Oracle home must be installed.
    1.Forms/Reports first in the default_oracle
    home.
    2.Then Oracle 8i in a 2nd oracle home call
    it ora81 for example.
3.Then WebDb in the non oracle 8i home !!
This is just a quick summary.
If you run into any problems let me know
    Good Luck.
    Dave.

The above error is occuring only if the script is ran over a pre-existing reports security on webdb.
The drop table commands in the scripts may be having some untested errors due to which the above errors resulted.
I had re-installed webdb and when
the above scripts were run for first time i didn't encounter those errors.

  • Help Needed!!!! Running Forms 6i, Reports 6i and WebDB on the same NT box...

    Hi All!
I am in need of some help.
I'm trying to set up the sample code for the Healthy Living WebSite.
I need to have WebDB 2.2x, Forms 6i and Reports 6i all running on the same box. Does anyone know how to set this up....?
    Thanks,
    Matt
    [email protected]
    null

    Hi Matt,
You didn't mention but do you also wish to install the database(8i) on the same machine ?
If you run into any problems let me know
    Good Luck.
    Dave.

  • Report Server 6i and Portal 3.0

I read through several white papers including "Security Tips in Oracle Reports Services Release 6i with Oracle Portal Release 3.0" and tried to start Reports server with no success but maybe I'm misunderstanding how it works. So I have the following questions:
    1. We are running reports server on the same server as Oracle Portal and do not have any printers assign to this W2K server which is outside our fire wall. Will Reports server start with no printers assigned? I read out on metal link in Note: 109399.1 "It is no longer necessary to have the reports server service running on an account having a printer installed."
    2. We only have port 80 open for the apache web listener. However the tnsnames.ora file requires an entry for the report server with a port=1949. Does this port need to be open?
    3. Do you know how I can check to see which ports are available on W2K? Which are being used? IS there a dos command?
    4. Is Report Server required to run Oracle Reports 6i through Portal 3.0 with SSO?
    null

    Gregg,
1 - There is still a bug pending on this, so you may need to assign a default printer. This may be your issue of why you are unable to get the reports server running.
2 - No, port 1949 is only used between the reports cgi/servlet and the reports server. The communication between the client and the reports cgi/servlet is done on the http you are using (in your case, port 80).
3 - Don't know of any such utility or dos command to find our which ports are in use or available.
4 - Yes, you must have the reports server running to run Oracle Reports 6i through Portal 3.0. 6i is not using sso.

  • Report folder security issue

    Hi,
We are struggling with this issue, I have various report folders in Explore within Workspace. I would like my users to view (and run) reports in the folders for which permissions have been granted. Even after granting permissions, my users are able to view all report folders and also able to run reports from them.
How do we restrict users to view only relevant folders for which permissions have been granted for. My users are grouped in various groups and folder security is being given to these groups. All my reports are FR and some WA reports.
Am I missing something silly completely? Any guidance will be of great help. Thanks in advance.

Two things i have run into:
    1) the group WORLD has access to the folders. You need to remove this group from each folder.
    2) The users have admin rights for Reporting. This overrides folder security.

  • How do I report a security problem to Firefox?

    Here's the problem: <br />
Wednesday morning my Mac at home got infected by malware which I believe is usually called the "Google redirect virus". My Mac at home has been upgraded to OSX 10.6.7 and I believe I was using Firefox 3.6.13 (it automatically upgraded tonight). I haven't been able to find any useful information on line about this malware. <br />
The behavior after infection was that every time I tried to use Google my request would get redirected. If I entered www.google.com in the address bar, the URL would get changed to www.google.com/FuneralHomes/<something> and the browser would try to go there and a "Under Construction" error message or a no-such-page message would be returned. This started happening after I did a Google search and was checking various links in Firefox, but once it started in Firefox I got the same behavior in Safari even without using Safari to look at any links. And it continued to happen in Safari even after I did a "Reset Safari..." <br />
When I got infected I was using a non-adminstrator account and I was not asked to download anything nor was I prompted for a password. <br />
I searched on "Google redirect Mac virus" using my (so far) untouched work computer and found several suggestions but no solutions. Apparently this is a PC problem that's been around a few years, but there were some Mac reports from last year. So last night I checked the DNS addresses in my
Network preferences, looked at /etc/hosts, and removed the only plug-in from the Library:Internet Plug-ins of the infected account, even though it was a Picasa plug-in that predated this infection. None of those seemed to be the problem. I also scanned my disk with an up-to-date "Norton AntiVirus" which
I got from work some time ago, but it found no viruses. <br />
What really puzzles me is that the problem gradually went away while I was checking it last night. At first, when I entered www.google.com the browser would still show the redirected address in the prompt that comes up and it had the Legacy.com logo on the left instead of the Google one but it would actually go to the Google website (unless I'm being spoofed). Then at a later attempt, only the wrong logo persisted. Then at an even later attempt the logo got fixed and everything looked fine and appeared to behave correctly. <br />
Frankly, that's a little scary. It's as if a really smart trojan got
installed and was covering its tracks while it set up a man-in-the-middle attack (please advise if I'm misusing the jargon). If I'm being too paranoid, great, but I'd still like to know how such behavior could be induced on my machine just by linking to a website. Can anyone help?
''moderator- fixed the leading space formatting errors in this posting''

Thanks, the-edmeister, but the only relevant post I found was from GB Colburn on bleepingcomputer.com, wherein he reported a similar problem about a year ago. I've found a few similar threads in the last year or so (by searching "Google redirect mac virus" in Google) but they are all about the same: someone reports the problem, responders have various random suggestions, the problem seems to go away by itself (at least sometimes), and there's nothing conclusive either good or bad.
Without myself being as knowledgeable as GB Colburn, it doesn't look to me like the problem is in the DNS system or the router. It acts more like some malware in the automatic completion in the address bar of the browser or maybe in the history system, but I can't figure out how an infection in one browser could affect another browser. And I *really* can't figure out how it could be self-healing.
It's really frustrating that none of the major parties involved in this—Firefox, Google, Safari (Apple), Verizon (my internet provider)—even have a process for reporting a security issue. At least not one that I, an ordinary semi-naive user, can find.

  • Oracle 8i and webdb

Been looking for a WebDB discussion group but can't find it! Having searched, found most WebDB posts are in here. Currently using Oracle8I Stanadard Edition rather than Oracle8iLite but here goes...
    Oracle8i and WebDB
What is cheapest solution for setting up a web-site requiring simple data entry and searching facilities using WebDB and Oracle8i?
I am a traditional Oracle developer (Forms 4.5. Reports 2.5) and want to get into the Web stuff. Got an idea for a site which, if nothing else, will demonstrate my skills to potential clients. I have decided on WebDB and Oracle8i as it seems to be the most cost-effective solution from and Oracle licensing point of view and the least resource hungry. However, due to my lack of understanding of most things technical and networking in particular, I am struggling to figure out what I will need from a hardware/ networking point of view to establish a development platform and in due course a production system.
The following are scenarios which I have envisaged. I will not be surprised if they demonstrate a fundamental lack of understanding of the situation! Please note, I am based in the UK and currently have a BT Home-Highway ISDN 2x56Kbps connection to the internet (does this help?).
Can I develop using WebDB and Oracle8i on a single, standalone NT-server based PC?
To go live, which is the most cost-effective/ practical solution and what is required for each:
    a) my own Oracle server (NT or Unix?) connected somehow to the internet, accessed as required by the forms created with WebDB and stored on an ISP-provided web-site
    b) as a) above but with forms created with WebDB stored on my Oracle server
    c) both the WebDB forms and the Oracle database on an ISP-provided server (is there such a thing?)
Any assistance will be most gratefully received, and Ill send you some free shares when I go PLC!
    null

Ok, I have changed it to the following.
First, kenny is the SID and also the machine
name. 7001 is the port number that WebDB is
listening to. scott/tiger is the account and
    password on kenny SID.
    <connection name="demo">
    <username>scott</username>
    <password>tiger</password>
    <dburl>jdbc:oracle:thin:@kenny:7001:ORCL</dburl>
    <driver>oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver</driver>
    </connection>
Now, I have the following error in
    mod_jserv.log
    [01/02/2000 14:09:04:478] (ERROR) ajp12: Servlet Error: NoClassDefFoundError: oracle.xml.xsql.XSQLServlet
    [01/02/2000 14:09:05:399] (ERROR) ajp12: Servlet Error: NoClassDefFoundError: oracle.xml.xsql.XSQLServlet
    Question:
    1) Should I configure the WebDB listener
to have a DAD of "demo" to access to
    scott account?
    2) I am pretty sure that the jserv is
configured probably because I can access
the example hello servlet by opening URL
    at
    http://kenny/servlets/Hello
Why do I get the following error?
    ajp12: Servlet Error: NoClassDefFoundError: oracle.xml.xsql.XSQLServlet
    Thanks.

We’d like to get Custom reports. The base of reports is Security Audit Log files. This is files for SM20.
What does the file structure look like? What is field of it?
    Thanks!

    Hello Marina
The data written to the security audit log correspond to the DDIC structures RSLGENTR (up to release 4.6) and RSAUENTR2 (in newer releases). DDIC structures can be viewed using TA SE11 (data type).
As I can see you have already opened a thread regarding this. Please don't duplicate the threads, as this only widespreads the information.
    Regards,
    Désiré

Paypal never sends messages like that. It sounds like a phishing attempt. Go ahead and delete the message, but report it to Paypal so that they can take investigate.
You can report it here: https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?cmd=_render-content&content_ID=security/suspicious_activity

  • Security and privacy system preferences not working after Lion install.  What to do?

Security and privacy system preference not working after Lion install.  Not sure if it happen with Lion installer or after updating. What to do?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then either copy or drag it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” (without the quotes) and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Copy or drag — do not type — the line below into the Terminal window, then press return:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}'
Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered (the text, please, not a screenshot.) You can omit the final line ending in “$”.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|edu\.mit|org\.(amavis|apache|cups|isc|ntp|postfix|x)/{print $3}'
This time, you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|edu\.mit|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/mach* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts 2> /dev/null
Important: If you synchronize with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' 2> /dev/null
Remember, steps 1-5 are all drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste, whichever you prefer — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.
