Reports: Additional Image in  a Colunm

Hi all,
A report retrieves it's Query from a PL/SQL Function.
The report merges some Ruled address data together with some individual address data, criteria are retrieved from the same page call.
The first report column contains APEX_ITEM.CHECKBOX on the queries column "ID" and works as a selector.
Other columns shows detailed information. That all works fine.
Now I want to implement an "edit" link into the same column.
The link should only be visible, if the value of "ID" in the same row raises some limits.
By klicking it, the user should be able to edit some individual values.
Adding a separate column to the report didn't meet the requirements.
It's not adding the "<IMG SRC>" tag, more the correct implementation of the logic
that one row shows the link and another row doesn't.
Where and how do I have to implement the logic ?
regards
Franz Langner

Franz:
Try concatenating the image/link code with the apex_item.checkbox column like in the query below
select
apex_item.checkbox(1,'Y') ||
decode(object_type,'TABLE',
   '[a href="destination"][IMG SRC="../i/edit.gif"][a]','')  id
,object_type
from obj;Varad
Replace the [ & ] approriately

  • Receiving Error when running Crystal reports with Images in WebSphere 6.1

I am designing a report with a sub report that displays images via (BLOBS). The images are between 10-20 kb in size and there could be up to 200 images in the report.
There are no problems when I run the report using Java 1.5 with Tomcat 5.5 server and JDBC connection (using ojdbc14.jar) to an Oracle 10g database.
It seems that if I attempt to run the same report on a WebSphere 6.1 environment, the below error is encountered (stack trace is below)
    I am using Crystal 2008 (ver 12.0.0.683).
Based on the stack trace, I think it is either an IBM JDK  javax.* package compatibility issue or the current version of Crystal reports (no service packs installed - current client environment) has a known issue with Websphere.
I searched the forums for any similiar issues but could not find one.
Could installing Service pack 3 solve this issue or is there another possibility?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Thank you for your reply.
The answer to your question concerning if Websphere is a clean install is no.  The client has other applications running on that server.  We do not have access to that server other than the log files and I requested information as to what other applications are on the server.
We did try adding a known working version of the IIOMetadata class in the ear file and deploying it in the hopes that  class will be loaded before using any other version.  Unfortunately, we receive the posted errors.  Which may mean that a different version of the class has already been loaded in memory and that is the one being accessed.  A request would have to be made to the client for a shutdown and restart of Websphere in determining if that may be the case.  Since there are other applications running, coordination and communication to the other application owner will need to be done first.
Any additional ideas will be appreciated.
    Thank you.

  • Crystal Reports - OLE image maintain correct proportions

I'm using a CR 2008 to report off of a Oracle database.
The report consists of a three images per page.
The image comes from an OLE object which shows the image dynamically from an image path field as the graphic location.
My images are not all the same size....  Some are taller and some are wider than others.
So when these images display in a set area, some get squashed vertically and others horizontally.  It's important tha the images maintain the correct aspect ratios.
I've played with "size and position", "can grow", "scaling" and "size", but still can't seem to make the scaling and proportions work for all my images.
Any advice from the experts would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Karen

    Hi Jason, Dale
I have tried a multitude of different (and some crazy) combinations of parameters etc.  I've also tried sub-reports wtih different parameters.
Nothing seems to work to include various sized images into a fixed frame and maintain proprtionality.  It's a frustrating issue.
For new development of images that will be include in the report the image must meet the very strict size requirements.  This is the only way to manage the image inclusion.
Thank you Jason for the link to some re-sizing software - this will be good to use with historic images.
If there is anyone out there that has some different ideas on how to handle this let us all know....... Please
    Kindest regards
    Karen

  • HTML Report with images in LabVIEW 6.1

I am generating an HTML report in LabVIEW 6.1 with an image. When I
save the html file to disk, two files are saved, the report and the
image. The report has the name I specified but the image does not.
It is not readily apparent that the two are related. As a result,
when I try and e-mail or move the report, the image gets left behind.
Is there a way to embed the image file in the report? Or what is the
best way to associate these two files so they can be e-mailed
    together?
    Tim Erickson
    Signature Control Systems

    Tim,
Unfortunately, HTML does not include images.
A suggestion would be to create a GIF image, or to put everything in a zip file, or something to that effect.
I had to work with HTML documentation for LabVIEW, and actually used LabVIEW to substitute the images for control types with words, such that images were not required. You can try this if your images are nothing more than representations for which text can be substituted.
Alternatively, if your image is something like a graph, or the front panel, I might suggest creating a .gif or .jpg image out of it. This has to be done manually, but will make the page one single file.
Good luck, I hope that helps.

    Hi All,

I copy the image file first from this machine to the client machine then display the report from the client machine. But still takes time.

  • Crsytal Report and Images

I seem to have problem with images and Crystal reports. I am displaying multiple images in a report. I want to display 2 images per page. Now the images could be of multiple sizes and hence I dynamically reduce them to the maximum size available on the page.
When I try and print the images the images if they are bigger than the pages size I have tried to re size them keeping the DPI same so that they appear on the page but by default Crsytal reports converst the images into 96 DPI Images.
I am not sure if it does or is there any setting because of which it does. Since I wan them to retain the DPI I would not want them to change the DPI.
Is anyone aware of how crystal report handles images or any information on the DPI of Images in Crystal reports

    Hi, Ashwin;
Are you seeing this issue at runtime, or is it in the Crystal Reports Designer?

  • Standard report appended image

    Hi,
I'm using XPsp2, LV 2011sp1, standard report, append image VI.
The appended image appears at a low resolution (screen resolution?) when printed. Text is perfect.
If i resize the image to a larger resolution (dpi) it resizes it to fit within the margins but retains the low resolution. The auto-re-sizing results in a distorted image if it is resizes to fit the width, but does not need to resize to fit the height.
Can i increase the resolution of the printed images in the report? -to 150 or 300 dpi so they do not looks so pixelated when printed?
    Thanks.

To follow up, the response from an email support request.
    "Hi Blue,
Thanks for the information; it was really helpful in understanding your problem further.  I've managed to print out the exact same type of response as you've been getting; the larger DPI image just comes out a lot bigger for Standard reports than the smaller DPI image. I also dragged the files into MS Word and saw that the images were resized appropriately. Interestingly enough, I set the type of the report to 'Word' and when printed, the images came out at the appropriate resolution. This means that inside of the MS Office programs, there is some internal compensation for recognition of image DPI scaling that isn't native in the Standard report in LabVIEW.
I also selected to print a 'HTML' implementation of the report. The images were again mismatched in this state.
Q: How do we work around this issue?
A: There are two options I see at this point. We can either try reconfiguring the DPI of the printer that we're printing to, or we can take a copy of the resized image in Word by taking a snap of the screen and then cutting the resized image out. I just tried this out and the resized image that I cut out from a printscreen of MS Word looks just as expected on the report.
I took a look inside the Report Generation VIs that were used for printing and I couldn't find any aspects that we could modify to alter the interpreted DPI of the images. This is because the lower level print functionality is hidden within the higher level LabVIEW Property Nodes and is therefore inaccessable from any Block Diagram code. In this regard, I don't believe that there are any direct features native in LabVIEW that as LabVIEW Users, we will be able to modify. I made a VI to resize the image in LabVIEW and then print the output, however the issue with this is all of the quality in the original image was inevitably lost.
You can head over to the LabVIEW Idea Exchange and post this feature request on the forums and get other LabVIEW Users to Kudos it; the higher the Kudos, the more change of the feature being incorporated into a newer release of the toolkit. I definitely agree that this would be a great feature and I'd be more than happy to contribute.
    LabVIEW Idea Exchange -
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/ideas/v2/ideaexchangepage/blog-id/labviewideas
I hope that this is okay. If you have any further questions or ideas, please don't hesitate to get back in touch. I want to make sure you're completely satisfied with the solution that we reach.
    Kind Regards,
So in summary: No, you cannot adjust the resolution (DPI) at which the Standard Report Generation toolkit processes appended images.... Unless anyone knows better? ...i can not get satisfactory results from either of the suggested work arounds.

I have Elements 12 and operating system Windows 7. It is not unusual for me to  have a half dozen + copies of a single image. I am not creating these additional images myself, so must be the system. Deleting (including from the hard drive) does not help. Can anyone help please?

1- The only way for picture files to be automatically added to the catalog is to allow the 'watch folders' option in the file menu and not choosing to have the organizer warn you of any addition. If those files are already in the catalog they should be ignored, only new files should be added.
2- Otherwise, there is a downloader option to ignore duplicates when you import from camera or card reader to avoid importing several times from the same card.
The Organizer considers files are duplicate when they have the same 'date taken' and size in Kb.

    Hi everybody,
I have a problem with my Crystal reports and its display in the info view. If the reports include images from the repository, the reports aren't displayed when hit in the BO-InfoView.
This errors does not occur if there are just images in the report. Only the combination of images, embedded XCelsius-SWFs and data from the defined data sources causes the problem.
Instead of the correct report, I get a white blank screen.

  • Create Report with Image on the backside of first page

    Hi there,
I want to create a report with a header-section (including data and a barcode) and some data in the main section. The main section is diffing in length so that the report might be just one page or 4-5 pages or even more.
In addition I want to print an image on the backside of the first page.
The image exists in TIFF-Format and it should be printed in landscape, while the report itself is inmPortarit-Mode.
The report(s) should be printed automatically (without user-interaction).
    Thanks for any ideas.

    Mark,
The reply could be a bit delayed and you might have got it working also.
All your requirtements are easily achieveable, you might want to look into the building reports samples and publishing reports documenation at

  • Report Generation & image

    Hello,
I have been using Report Generation VIs to print Control/Indicator (Front Panel)icons on Word Document.  The only issue is that it is so white that it blends with the background (example attachment below). Any suggestions.
Also, how can I use Report Generation VIs to print items (i.e. case structure and the items within it) from Block Diagram into Word Doc.
    Thanks.

To answer your second question about inserting a Block Diagram image into your report, one way to do it would be to use a VI Invoke Node with the method Block Diagram >> Get Image Scaled to output Image Data for your Block Diagram (or whatever VI's Block Diagram you wire the VI refnum in for). Then use Draw Flattened Pixmap to change the Image Data format into a picture format that you can wire to a picture control. Then create a reference for this picture control and wire it into the Report Generation Toolkit VI called Append Control Image to Report. That will accomplish what you want.
I'll attach an example below, but unfortunately I only have the Report Generation Toolkit installed for LabVIEW 8 right now. I'll also paste the image below so you can get an idea of what I'm doing.

  • APEX 5.0. Report with image stored in a BLOB gives ORA-06502.

    Hi,
I want to create an Interactive Report - Desktop with an image in which is stored in a BLOB but it returnes a: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character to number conversion error.
I have created a test report with only the image (billed - which is a BLOB) and an ID (the PK  - a number from a sequence)
    select ID, billed from foto
I have tried with and without a formatmask for the ID '999999999999999' and the Type as Plain text as there seems not to be a better choice..
For the 'billed' Type is 'Display Image' and the 'Table Name' and 'BLOB Column' are set. 'Primary Key Column 1' is set to ID. 'Mime Type Colomn' points to a field that contains 'image/jpeg' as the stored image is a photo in jpg.
The image displays OK from a Forms application.
DB is a 11.2.0.4 on Linux 6.6 and APEX is 5.0
    What have I missed?
    Thanks,
    Dino

As described in the documentation, the report query must select the length of the BLOB column, not the column itself:
select id, dbms_lob.get_length(billed) billed from foto
