Reports and Filter question

Is there a way to filter on more than one column in step 3 of the report builder?
For instance, I have a report that displays activities from Accounts and opportunities. I would like the ability to filter a report by The Account Owner column and the Opportunity owner column

Here is more detail. I hope I explain this correctly.
Using activity history, I want a report to display all activities related to Leads, Opportunities etc for one user (i.e.. owner)
The only way I can think to do this is to prompt the user for the Lead owner, and then for the opportunity owner. I am finding that if a user only has opportunity activities and no lead activities (and vice versa) the report does not display data because the filter is looking for
Opportunity Owner ='John Smith' AND Lead owner = 'John Smith' Basically I'd like the prompts to filter by:
Opportunity Owner ='John Smith' OR Lead owner = 'John Smith'
Is there a way to add the OR?
In regard to the prompts technically I'd only like to prompt the user one time for the user, but I don't think I can do this do to the lead owner and the opportunity owner being two different columns.

  • Issue with reporting and additional question

    Hello,
    1st Question:
    I have ran into an issue with the interal server reporting.
    If the file is published as an html file, then the reporting works as intended
    (Able to see with Quiz Analyzer due to it creating an xml file in the appropriate folder)
    However, if I publish the file as a swf file, the reporting does not seem to be working at all.
    Does this mean that swf reporting is not supported with the internal server? or?
    2nd Question
    When reporting likert, as expected the quiz analyzer makes it so that we have go into each individual person to see their inputs.
    With that I am able to export it as an excel file for each individual person.
    However, is there a way to mass export all the individual responses as 1 excel file with the quiz analyzer?
    (Would it be better using Adobe Connect for reporting, or other lms systems?)

    Quick thigh when you get an error stating "unknown error" means something wrong with your server internal post result php or some cross domain issue. It will be great if you can send us the project for analysis. Please send your project on [email protected]
    Will analyze your issue and will get back to you, also I insist if you can provide few steps you opted while setting internal server reporting and the internal server on some machine. This will be very helpful to trace the issue.

  • Modifying an instance of a crystal report and set it a filter from a profil

    What we do:
    ==========
    We create publication and schedule them to user after doing a single pass bursting ( crystal report)
    When a user login and access his report that has been filtered by his instance, he is able to look only at his data.
    Notes that the crystal report has been filtered on the field Medical center.
    Notes that this crystal report has 2 parameter one for the medical cetner and another one for the date range
    Also when we ran the publication for all the users, we do set the parameter base on the medical cetner to the value ALL
    The issue is that when this end user refresh the report then instead of getting data only for his medical center , then he is getting data for all the medical center.
    As you can see the profile that has been created on the user doesn't kick in when refreshing an instance of a report coming out of a publication.
    What we would like to achiave thru sdk:

    We would like the end user to open this report and being able to refresh it only within the medical center he belongs to .
    So when the user refresh ther port he should only see data for his medical center
    Questions:
    ==========
    1 - is is possible to achiove this thru  sdk ? In 3,1
    2 - how long would it takes ? ( range)

    There are two ways to filter the data.  You could set the record selection formula for the report through code so that the data is filtered, parameters could be used as an additional filter.  The second is to design the report off a universe and setup row level security so that users only have access to certain data.

    I've just been trying the "in the last" option and had no problems for any number that I entered. Are you just entering 1 into the box? What error do you get?
    I've loaded the page with Debug switched on, and get:

    5. in order report column attributes i was given link like below.

    when i click on the order report column link it passing the row primary key value to hiddent and open the report as modal form. however it is not filter the report with hidden item. it showing the no data found.
    problem is hidden item value is not submitting. once we submit that value it showing the 2nd report with filter data.

    Issue 1: Your usage of $s() JavaScript API seems to be wrong. For the first parameter, you need to use the name of the hidden page item and not p_order_id.

    Issue 2: Seems like you are not setting the hidden page item's value in session state. Assuming your hidden page item is called P1_ORDER_ID, Under "Region Definition" tab of your "Order Detail Report" under "Source" tab, for page items to submit, enter the name of the hidden page item P1_ORDER_ID.

  • Crystal Reports and salesforce integration question

    I have a question about Crystal Reports connectivity to salesforce.  We are running Crystal Reports version 14.0.4.738 RTM.  When you create a new report and use the Database Expert, you can select www.salesforce.com as the data source.  I would like to know if the built-in connection to salesforce is secure.  Is our data secure in transit from salesforce to Crystal?  Is my password passed in clear text?  That kind of thing...

    Pete,
    As any SAP product Crystal Reports is going through users data security check before any new release. It includes any bult-in connection that comes as a part of product installation. Unfortunately I do not have any document for a reference, but your user password is not exposed in CR connectivity.
    I think I should mention that prior to Crystal reports 2013 (version 14.1....) we used our own java based driver, but starting from CR 2013 we are outsourcing the driver to a third party and it is ODBC driver. It means the SFDC driver will automatically change if you decide to update your CR 2011.

  • Display Report Level Filter value and Input Controls Value

    Hi,
    Please let me know how to display Report Level Filter value and Input COntrol values in the report.
    I have 2 tabs in the WebI Report. The first tab has the summary details about the other tabs like reprot desc, prompt values, reprot filter values,etc.
    In the 2nd tab I have the actual report which has input controls defined, prompt values and global level report filters.
    Can anyone please tell me how to display the Report level filter values and the Input Control values in the first tab report.
    For ex: Tab 2 has a Report level filter: Region = NA
    I need to display in Tab 1 in as Region: NA
    I used the function ReportFilterSummary but that is giving me other details, I want only the object name and the value.
    Also how to dispaly the Input Control values in the tab 1.
    Please let me know if you have any suggestions for this issue.

    did you try
    =ReportFilter([Year])
    if you are making report filter over the year, it will return the value of the filter
    by the way, the filter should be applied over all the report not to a specific block to be able to get the correct value
    the Input control also considered as report filter, only if you're applying them on the level of the report, if you applying an input contron over a specific block or chart, you will not get the values for ReportFilter

  • Reporting and exporting to Excel in SharePoint Online

    I've developed a SharePoint site to replace a legacy Access database that dealt with consumer complaints and queries. In the Access database I'd developed a feature that allowed users to filter the complaints by a number of criteria and export them to Excel
    and I'm trying to do the same in SharePoint.
    If it were on-premises SharePoint I'd just create a parameterised SSRS report which would solve all my problems. However being SharePoint online, this is not an option. I'd like the users to be able to select complaints from any date range, for any category
    of complaint and for any product supplier (plus a few other criteria). The idea is that they want to be able to then send the filtered data to individual suppliers. Doing this out of the box with views throws up several problems. The main one is that any export
    to Excel of a view exports the entire set of data, meaning that users themselves would need to create a new view for every export they wished to perform, which is not practical.
    My question is: what is the best way in SharePoint online to export a filtered subset of a list to Excel?
    I can use SharePoint designer, but not C# in order to achieve the goal. We also have SharePoint Online Plan 2 if that makes it easier.

  • Setting the Prompt Message in a Bex Report Charactorstic Filter Window.

    Hello Experts,
    Recently my project was enhanced with some more new project and mixed it with my project.
    Now my issue is before my new project was mixed into old project. We have the option..when a Charactorstics in Free Charactoristics (Ex: Customer, material ) context menu we come to see the option Select Filter Value and Filter Window opens.
    In that my old project, for the users comfortability and for knowing to users that there are more than n no of materials avaialble like that..in that filter they put one prompt message " has more than n values ".
    But after mixing up the enhanced new project, now..we are unable to see the above prompt message in Filter window..when material drill down.
    User requirement is to again users need to see that kind of prompt in the charactoristics filter window and this requirement is needed for Query Level and is for two or three reports only.
    I come to know some solution like in WAD web template under web items section Do not display system messages check box is now..Ticked. By un checking that option this issue will be solved like that. But i had tried in that manner but no use.
    And also i got one more solution that in WAD XHTML Coding section we can set this feature like that.
    Here my question is how to find XHTML Coding Section in WAD. Because i already tried to check in HTML coding section but couldnt find tha option.
    Requesting you , please reply me based on the solutions which i know can suggest further, or else if any body faced this kind of issue in your projects or come to know from ur end.

    i need small clarification.
    i am developing one Crystal report
    main report i took it from rdr1 one table...
    report is working fine..
    Sub report i took it from inv1 one table.
    i have not linked any fields from these tables.
    May be it is having links in b1..
    but in my other report both the tables.... from main report  and sub report does not have any relation.
    My Questions is..
    Can i Compulsorily link fields to main report...
    if both does not have any relation what should i do...

    On my local Visual studio it works, works fine.
    But when I'm deploying on Server, 2008 win 64 bit, I found this error.
    I've tried everything, I've installed also the runtime 64 bit on the target/server machine.
    The problem is that the log4net is not registered in the windows\assembly directory on the target server ? Do I have to use the Gac util to register the log4net dll assembly ?
    Please help me, It one day that I'm facing this error, but I'm not able to solve.

    Please enter the search string 'log4net crystal net' into the search box in the top right corner. When the results come up, click on the Support Notes link. That will filter for the KBAs that you want to have a look at.

    Smiley face with a ? means a bootable system is not found.
    There maybe  a problem with either system software or hard drive itself.

  • How to develp a subreport in the same page of the main report and processed when is called

    Hi guys,
    I am developing a report that includes a subreport.
    therefore The report is made up by 2 sections:
    1) Show a grid (several rows - may be 100 or more - and some columns). It represent high level info  (Each row represent a specific item)
    2) The user click on a Row/column (eg: Item1, to see details that must be shown as graph.
    Here the problem: Searching info about SSRS reporting for subreports, drilldown, nested report and so on, no ones accomplish the requirements for the following reasons:
    1) Subreports: NOT open in the same page. The user must <go back> to see detail for other items, such as Item 2....
    2) Nested and DrillDown: Process data as the Main report (they are hidden and displayed after user action). In my case this leads to performance problem, because: if the main report has 200 objects (it means 200 graphs processed and hidden at the same time
    for the main reports).
    3) DrillThrough and Subreport: The detail data are processed only when the user select the interested item in the main report. Here the problem: the report is shown externally.
    Please, it there any possibility to have a subreport (or anything else) to be executed in the same report as the main report and processed only when the user make action?

    According to your description, there is a main report with more than 100 rows of summary information, when users click the item of the row, the report need to jump to detail information shows as graph. The problem you are facing is that you are not sure
    subreport, drilldown or drillthrough report should be used? You hope to set display detail information in the main report and keep high performance of report.
    In Reporting Services, each subreport instance is a separate query execution and a separate report processing task. Subreports are recommended when there are just a few subreport instances. We should not use subreports inside a group when there are many
    group instances, instead, consider using drillthrough reports. Drilldown reports process all data even when the data is first hidden. In order to improve the performance of the report, we can split drilldown reports into parameterized drillthrough reports,
    because Drillthrough reports do not run until a user clicks the drillthrough link in the main report.
    In this case, we can consider using drilldown or drillthrough report. In drilldown report, when we click a plus or minus button to expand or collapse a section of a report, the detail data will be displayed in place. By using drillthrough report, when we
    click the link in the main report, the detail data will be displayed, we can come back to the main report by click return button in the drillthrough report.

  • Grouping in rtf template like oracle reports - a newbie question

    I am new to BI Publisher and have probablly a silly question to ask.
    I have a basic query that returns a flat xml file which looks something like this. it will have multiple rows.

    Because i am fairly new to xml i am at a loss trying to work out how i can form a template that will effectively allow grouping at say
    1. Date Level
    2. Package Level
    3.Drop Off level
    4. put all other data in here
    In reports i would just do groups and alter the layout accordingly. Obviously if i had an oracle report version of the sql that generates the xml then i could just generate the xml from the report and i would get the xml i am looking for .
    But I am working with basic sql not reports and am wondering What do I have to do with my xml to get it looking live the grouping I mention above, given all i have to play with is the example xml I included. I am really bamboozled and think i am missing something simple.
    I dont want to have to write multiple queries with different groupings using cast , multiset as I thought one of the benefits of BI Publisher was one query multiple layouts.

    If you haev word plugin installed,
    please follow the documentation and try using that,
    load the xml in the word plugin
    and then select insert table/form and then you can do the drag and drop,
    and group by each fields.
