Reports built in CR Developer - Exporting to Excel through Crystal Viewer XI

Post Author: Screenpoet
CA Forum: Other
I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this question - so if not - please let me know.  Currently we build small reports in Crystal Developer XI.  As we only have this type of license (and only 2 of them), we only share reports to our end-users by having them install the Crystal Viewer XI application.  Our users are indicating that they can open the reports, but when they export to Excel, the column headings are not exporting with the data.  We also tried exporting in PDF and RTF format and the column headings do export.  Any insight on why the Excel export would not bring in the column headings?

  • SSRS Report is missing data when exported to Excel via a subscription

I have an SSRS report on a daily subscription that creates an Excel attachment and emails it  to a number of users. Some of the users are reporting that they cannot see all
of the data in the Excel attachment.
The report has a date column and 6 numeric columns, and the affected users cannot see the numerical columns - the fields are empty. The date column is displaying
correctly along with all of the column headers.
If however I change the format to XHTML, all data is displayed for all users.
What's weird is that it is not affecting all users - for the affected users, the file size of the attachment is considerably smaller so it doesn't look like the
issue is with their PC's - the data is not there to begin with.
I've tried setting the DataElementOutput property on each of the fields to Output but no luck.
I am using SQL Server 2008R2.

    Hi Wolfmeister,
Glad to heard that the issue had been solved and thanks for your sharing.

  • Report works on CR Developer XI but not on Crystal Reports Server

I have a crystal report I created in Crystal Reports Developer XI that uses a command.  The code is as follows:
    select     supplier.supplier_sc, price_list.supplier_id, doc_line.doc_head_sc, product.product_id, product.product_n, price_list.unit_price, price_list.price_list_id,convert(varchar(50),product.product_n)+ ': $' + convert(varchar(50),price_list.unit_price)
    from     price_list, supplier, product, doc_line
    where     price_list.supplier_id = supplier.supplier_id AND
              price_list.product_id = doc_line.product_id AND
              supplier.supplier_id = price_list.supplier_id AND
              price_list.product_id = product.product_id AND
              doc_line.doc_head_sc like 'REQ%'
I've tested this in SQL directly and it works as expected.  Furthermore in Crystal Reports Developer XI it works fine there too.  Basically the calculated column reprsented by the code: (convert(varchar(50),product.product_n) ': $' + convert(varchar(50),price_list.unit_price)+ shows up as the following as a sub-parameter for my test example:
    Dell 1600 Printer: $125.00
    Dell 1600 Printer: $150.00
But once it is published to Crystal Reports Server, it shows up as:
    Dell 1600 Printer
    Dell 1600 Printer
It isn't combining the columns as expected.  This particular sub-parameter is supposed to pull the product name and all the various price list amounts for the particular supplier chosen earlier.  I've tried re-publishing it, but to no avail.  What am I doing wrong?
I'm running Crystal Reports Developer XI 11.0.0.1282 and Crystal Reports Server 11.5 in case that is relevant.

  • Problem with Export to Excel from ALV view.

    Hello @all,
i have a problem on my webdynpro application. I use the component SALV_WD_TABLE. I become display my data but when i want to export the table to ecel, i became a short dump with the message in the browser: Access via 'NULL' object reference not possible.
When i look at ST22. The system show this text.
    What happened?
Error in the ABAP Application Program
The current ABAP program "CL_SALV_WD_A_MODEL_TABLE======CP" had to be
         terminated because it has
come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.
    Error analysis
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_REF_IS_INITIAL', was no
         caught in
        procedure "IF_SALV_BS_MODEL_COLUMN~GET_HEADER_BIND_DDIC_FIELD" "(METHOD)
was it propagated by a RAISING clause.
Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
You attempted to use a 'NULL' object reference (points to 'nothing')
        access a component (variable: "LR_HEADER").
An object reference must point to an object (an instance of a class)
before it can be used to access components.
Either the reference was never set or it was set to 'NULL' using the
        CLEAR statement.
    How to correct the error
If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
        keywords:
        "OBJECTS_OBJREF_NOT_ASSIGNED" "CX_SY_REF_IS_INITIAL"
        "CL_SALV_WD_A_MODEL_TABLE======CP" or "CL_SALV_WD_A_MODEL_TABLE======CM0
        "IF_SALV_BS_MODEL_COLUMN~GET_HEADER_BIND_DDIC_FIELD"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself and want to send an error
notification to SAP, include the following information:
        1. The description of the current problem (short dump)
To save the description, choose "System->List->Save->Local File
        (Unconverted)".
        2. Corresponding system log
Display the system log by calling transaction SM21.
Restrict the time interval to 10 minutes before and five minutes
after the short dump. Then choose "System->List->Save->Local File
        (Unconverted)".
        3. If the problem occurs in a problem of your own or a modified SAP
program: The source code of the program
           In the editor, choose "Utilities->More
        Utilities->Upload/Download->Download".
        4. Details about the conditions under which the error occurred or which
actions and input led to the error.
The exception must either be prevented, caught within proedure
    "IF_SALV_BS_MODEL_COLUMN~GET_HEADER_BIND_DDIC_FIELD" "(METHOD)", or its
possible occurrence must be declared in the
    RAISING clause of the procedure.
To prevent the exception, note the following:
    Information on where terminated
Termination occurred in the ABAP program "CL_SALV_WD_A_MODEL_TABLE======CP" -
         in "IF_SALV_BS_MODEL_COLUMN~GET_HEADER_BIND_DDIC_FIELD".
The main program was "SAPMHTTP ".
In the source code you have the termination point in line 19
        of the (Include) program "CL_SALV_WD_A_MODEL_TABLE======CM030".
The termination is caused because exception "CX_SY_REF_IS_INITIAL" occurred in
        procedure "IF_SALV_BS_MODEL_COLUMN~GET_HEADER_BIND_DDIC_FIELD" "(METHOD)", but
it was neither handled locally nor declared
in the RAISING clause of its signature.

  • Reporting and exporting to Excel in SharePoint Online

    Hi
I've developed a SharePoint site to replace a legacy Access database that dealt with consumer complaints and queries. In the Access database I'd developed a feature that allowed users to filter the complaints by a number of criteria and export them to Excel
and I'm trying to do the same in SharePoint.
If it were on-premises SharePoint I'd just create a parameterised SSRS report which would solve all my problems. However being SharePoint online, this is not an option. I'd like the users to be able to select complaints from any date range, for any category
of complaint and for any product supplier (plus a few other criteria). The idea is that they want to be able to then send the filtered data to individual suppliers. Doing this out of the box with views throws up several problems. The main one is that any export
to Excel of a view exports the entire set of data, meaning that users themselves would need to create a new view for every export they wished to perform, which is not practical.
My question is: what is the best way in SharePoint online to export a filtered subset of a list to Excel?
I can use SharePoint designer, but not C# in order to achieve the goal. We also have SharePoint Online Plan 2 if that makes it easier.
    Thanks in advance,
    Duncan

  • Cross-Tab Report export to Excel

I have a cross-tab report that I need to export to excel and keep the same formatting.  When I export the report the first column is Part # the next is operation #.  The report is grouped on Part number, but each part may have multi operation.  When I look at the report in Crystal or as a PDF the part # is at the top then each operation is a seperate row that follows.  When I export it to excel it works fine but instead of the part # appearing at the top then follow by each operation the part number ends up on the last operation in the list.  How can I export this and keep the format the same?  by the way I have tried both xls data only and xls 2007 options

    Hello Experts,
I also tried to export the CR cross tab report in Excel Data only format.
Also I want to display Row label i.e. my Rows are different dates so I created a text field and named as Date & Time but when export it to Excel Data Only, the date time label appears 1 row above then rest of the columns. It works good while looking on InfoView but export messed it up.
    Can you please suggest.

  • Extracting a Report from SAP Spool into a Useful Excel 2010 Format

    Hi All,
Extracting a Report from SAP Spool into a Useful Excel 2010 Format.  I'm currently running the following report in SAP  and would like the
ability to set this report up as a recurring report running weekly and
subsequently access this report in a useable Excel 2010 format without
much data manipulation.  Can you please assist me.  Below, I've tried to
provide an example of what I'm encountering.   Thanks, beforehand for
    your assistance.
    Here goes:
Step one: Run 62 Report in SAP S_P99_41000062- Material List Price and
    Inventory
Step 2. Select stored Variant "Weekly KPI", ok. Enter the enter  the
desired company code and period I want thre report to run for and update
the currency, if necessary. Having input my desired criteria, I believe
I can either execute immediately, run in the background, preset to run
at date in the future. For this example let's just execute, immediately.
This is where the difference originates. Given, I run this report
immediately, I'm able to simply extract the result to Excel via the list
selection noted in the tool bar below.  The result is a data friendly
excel 2007  report is automatically generated.
    Export to Excel via list:
Select save and Excel 2007 opens automatically:
That said, the method outlined above works perfectly fine if you want
the report immediately.  Now let go back and run the exact same report
with exceptoin of running it in the background and having to retrieve it
from the Spool (SP01) uisng my user ID.  Given the report generated in
the background,  I would now access the report via the spool and make
    the following selections:
SP01 + execute to see my report
I would hit the sunglasses to see the actual report, then want to
extract this report to Excel by selecting the export option.
I would at this point select spreadsheet and be given an option to save
the spreadsheet to local file. However, upon trying to open the
spreadsheet I will receive an error messageindicating that the format is
different than that which the file I am currently trying to open it
with.  I'm currently running Excel 2010 on my computer.  The currency
format and other issues arrise with this extract.  Please help.
    Thanks,
    Chowadary.

    Update to Latest GUI.
Use   List -> Export -> Spreadsheet  to get the output to excel.
I remember in ALV max length allowed is 1023 characters and the max no of columns supported is 90. Issue occurs when row size of exported data gets more than 1023 character. (This includes if Long/Medium Header Text used ) If it exceed 1023 character the columns splits and moves to next row.
Check your fieldcatog for header lengths.

  • A single table line generating more than 2 lines when exporting to Excel

    Guys,
I do have an interactive report on apex with a varchar2(4000) column that is generating more than 1 excel row per table row. In another words:
    Table my_report
    file_id number,
    file_comment varchar2(4000)
    Query on report
    select file_id, file_comment from my_report
It generates 5 lines on report screen but, when I export to excel using csv or xls format, it generates more than 5 lines. On file_comments field on excel, some of them has a break in 2 or 3 lines. Seems to me a line feed problem with CHR(13) or chr(10).
Anyone as a solution or a similar problem like this? Any idea?
    Andre.

you could try to remove the linebreaks in the select.
    select file_id, file_comment, replace(replace(file_comment,CHR(13)),CHR(10)) file_comment_nobreak
from my_reportThen depending on the type of report you could show one column, but export the other column in the excel/csv file. Not sure if this works with an interactive report too.

  • Export to Excel suppress Group information

Is there a way to suppress group information only when exporting to Excel?  When viewing or printing the report I want to see the group information but when exporting to Excel I do not want to see group information.
Is there any way to pick up when the report is being exported in the suppress formula?
    Thanks for any help.

    fhs,
I ran into this a few months ago and solved it by simply creating a parameter called Output to Excel. I then suppress any sections if that parameter is true.
So, in theory, you could run the report once viewing the group info, and then run it again, suppressing the group info so u can export to excel.
If there's a better way, I'd be interested in learning about it as well.

    Please Help !!
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Hi Satyadevs,
If I understand correctly, when you try to export a report to excel on Report Manager, you have received the error message. And when you examine the Report Server log, the log indicates that the export request was fulfilled.
The following KB is about a similar issue: FIX: Error message when you try to export a SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services report by using Report Manager: "Internet Explorer cannot download <ReportName>.xls
    from <URL>"
In Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services, when you try to export a report by using Report Manager, you receive the following error message:
Internet Explorer cannot download ReportName.xls from URL.
The connection with the server was reset.
However, when you examine the Report Server log, the log indicates that the export request was fulfilled.
The fix for this issue was first released in Cumulative Update 2. Because the builds are cumulative, each new fix release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 fix release. We recommend
that you consider applying the most recent fix release that contains this hotfix:
Cumulative update package 10 for SQL Server 2008
    Hope this helps.

  • Automatic export to excel of a query

    Hi all,
I have a query I must run on a daily basis and export the results to excel format them with a certain font and size and send it via email. Is there a way to automate all of this?
    Thanks

    Hello;
    Yes I believe so.
I would look to a reporting tool. For example Business Objects will auto generate and e-mail reports. Since they also export to Excel I'm thinking they can handle most of your requirements. If they can export to an Excel Template that might be one way to handle your font type and size.
In any event I believe a reporting tool is you best option.
    Best Regards
    mseberg
This example shows how to email Scheduled Reports in Business Objects and delivered / emailed in MS Excel format.

So certain third part tools will do the job.

  • Date Modified Date/Time Issues on Files Exported to Excel

    Hello -
I am using Crystal Reports XI, Release 2 and Visual Studio 2005 Enterprise Edition for my ASP.NET application.
    CrystalReports dll version : 11.5.3700.0
    .NET Framework 2.0.50727
I use the CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument to export a report to Excel (ExportFormatType.Excel).
When you view the exported file in Excel 2007 (just open and close it, making no changes), the Date Modified date of the file changes to whatever date/time the file was last viewed.  I have also noticed this same behavior when exporting to Excel from Crystal, using a vendor desktop application that is written in C++ and uses Crystal XI.
Does anyone else experience this issue and have a resolution?
Edited by: Meg Thickman on Feb 3, 2009 8:59 AM

    Hi Meg,
Just to clarify did you mean viewing the PDF?:
"Why would/should the file system date change merely by viewing the report?"
Our exported files are not linked to the master RPT file.
As I indicated the XLS file is likely in an older format and Excel is detecting and updating something which the file system then detects a change and updates the date stamp. Or excel is writing something back to the file. Did you notice if the file size changed or possibly the byte hash?
This is not something we are going to be able change. For compatability reasons we cannot stop Excel from updating the file.
As a work around add the Data Date field to your reports and your auditors can use that as the reference. It will reflect the actual date and time the report was run. Or use Excel API's to update the file format once the report has been exported in your code. You may also want to check with Microsoft to see if it's an option in Excel not to update the format or possibly a registry key to disable the option.
    Thanks again
    Don

  • Universal export to Excel process

    Hello,
I must write pl/sql procedure that exports data to Excel file in XML format. This procedure should be available for all pages in quite big application, so I don’t want to write it by scratch for each report separately. I need more object-oriented way.
Do you know any way to read results of any APEX report region and write it/export to Excel using pl/sql process?
I know how to write XML Excel files and I know I can find region definitions with reports’ queries in APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_REGIONS view, but I have no idea how to deal with it, especially with pl/sql reports returning string query. How to put this data into cursor, how to declare cursor’s type automatically etc. Maybe I can use some APEX function?
    Regards,
    Przemek Staniszewski

    Przemek:
If it were possible to identify a report region source as being the type 'function returning query' I think it would be a simple matter to execute the specified pl/sql function ( using execute immediate) and obtain the query for the report.
Given the query I think, Denes' code will do the rest.
